Towards Collaborative Localization of Mobile Users with BluetoothRaja Jurdak
Location awareness is a key requirement for many pervasive
applications. Collaborative localization techniques are interesting
because they help to improve accuracy and coverage indoors and improve
power consumption by duty-cycling GPS outdoors. We use Bluetooth
for collaborative localization of mobile personal devices. Specifically,
we embed information in Bluetooth device names to improve latency
of information exchange between participating nodes. We identify
and demonstrate on real hardware two problems in the Bluetooth stack
that negatively impact localization accuracy: a) device name caching
that introduces significant device-specific delays in transmitting information
between nodes, and b) poor accuracy of time synchronization in
modern mobile devices. Our solution is to append additional time information
to the device name and track time o↵sets between nodes. We
verify experimentally that this helps to both detect outliers and correct
for time-synchronization errors and thus mitigate localization errors.
Indoor location is finally beginning to deliver on promises made over the last decade. Low cost deployment using simple, power efficient sensors is driving this development. This presentation will provide a survey of mobile location technologies that employ the Bluetooth Low Energy standard paired with the capabilites of recent mobile devices. After moving on to consider the cross platform capabilities of recent vendor protocols, the talk will weigh the pros and cons of various uses of triangulation, proximity and hybrid GPS/Wifi/Bluetooth in location applications. Finally, a live demo of proximity, ranging and position using Bluetooth Low Energy devices and the iBeacon protocol will be conducted within the presentation room.
Replication allows data from a MySQL master database to be synchronized with one or more slave databases. The master records all data changes in its binary log. Slave databases connect to the master and receive the binary log transactions, which they then apply locally to stay synchronized with the master database. Replication can be used for load balancing reads across multiple slave servers or for high availability by failing over to a slave if the master fails.

The researchers conclude that Wi-Fi signals contain patterns related to human movement and activity recognition may be possible using a Wi-Fi based sensor network.
Impact of Frequency Offset on Interference between Zigbee and Wifi for Smart ...IOSR Journals
Abstract: The Zigbee is a low cost communication technology used for low data rate communication system such as industrial automation etc. Because of its low complexity it is widely adopted for many applications. But the utilization of the same spectrum band by the WLAN system causes interference between both the systems. The proposed approach presents an analysis of this interference effect on Zigbee system when operated with WLAN sources at different distances and different power. It also analyzes the effect when a frequency offset is established between both systems. The simulation results shows that a small offset can provide sufficient improvement in the performance. It presents the architecture of ZigBee networks, which consists of sensor nodes, coordinators, and routers. It also examines different network topologies - star, mesh, and tree - and a methodology for simulating these topologies to evaluate metrics like energy efficiency, reliability, and connectivity. The results provide insights into the strengths and weaknesses of each topology to identify the most suitable one for different application scenarios.

Low power architecture of logic gates using adiabatic techniquesnooriasukmaningtyas
The growing significance of portable systems to limit power consumption in ultra-large-scale-integration chips of very high density, has recently led to rapid and inventive progresses in low-power design. The most effective technique is adiabatic logic circuit design in energy-efficient hardware. This paper presents two adiabatic approaches for the design of low power circuits, modified positive feedback adiabatic logic (modified PFAL) and the other is direct current diode based positive feedback adiabatic logic (DC-DB PFAL). Logic gates are the preliminary components in any digital circuit design. By improving the performance of basic gates, one can improvise the whole system performance. In this paper proposed circuit design of the low power architecture of OR/NOR, AND/NAND, and XOR/XNOR gates are presented using the said approaches and their results are analyzed for powerdissipation, delay, power-delay-product and rise time and compared with the other adiabatic techniques along with the conventional complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) designs reported in the literature. It has been found that the designs with DC-DB PFAL technique outperform with the percentage improvement of 65% for NOR gate and 7% for NAND gate and 34% for XNOR gate over the modified PFAL techniques at 10 MHz respectively.

Electric vehicle and photovoltaic advanced roles in enhancing the financial p...IJECEIAES
Climate change's impact on the planet forced the United Nations and governments to promote green energies and electric transportation. The deployments of photovoltaic (PV) and electric vehicle (EV) systems gained stronger momentum due to their numerous advantages over fossil fuel types. The advantages go beyond sustainability to reach financial support and stability. The work in this paper introduces the hybrid system between PV and EV to support industrial and commercial plants. This paper covers the theoretical framework of the proposed hybrid system including the required equation to complete the cost analysis when PV and EV are present. In addition, the proposed design diagram which sets the priorities and requirements of the system is presented. The proposed approach allows setup to advance their power stability, especially during power outages. The presented information supports researchers and plant owners to complete the necessary analysis while promoting the deployment of clean energy. The result of a case study that represents a dairy milk farmer supports the theoretical works and highlights its advanced benefits to existing plants. The short return on investment of the proposed approach supports the paper's novelty approach for the sustainable electrical system. In addition, the proposed system allows for an isolated power setup without the need for a transmission line which enhances the safety of the electrical network

Zil an energy efficient indoor localization system using zig bee radio to detect wifi fingerprints
1. ZIL AN ENERGY-EFFICIENT INDOOR LOCALIZATION SYSTEM USING ZIGBEE
RADIO TO DETECT WIFI FINGERPRINTS
ABSTRACT
In existing WiFi-based localization methods, smart mobile devices consume quite a lot of
power as WiFi interfaces need to be used for frequent AP scanning during the localization
process. In this work, we design an energy-efficient indoor localization system called ZigBee
assisted indoor localization (ZIL) based on WiFi fingerprints via ZigBee interference signatures.
ZIL uses ZigBee interfaces to collect mixed WiFi signals, which include non-periodic WiFi data
and periodic beacon signals. However, WiFi APs cannot be identified from these WiFi signals by
ZigBee interfaces directly. To address this issue, we propose a method for detecting WiFi APs to
form WiFi fingerprints from the signals collected by ZigBee interfaces. We propose a novel
finger print matching algorithm to align a pair of fingerprints effectively. To improve the
localization accuracy, we design the K-nearest neighbor (KNN) method with three different
weighted distances and find that the KNN algorithm with the Manhattan distance performs best.
Experiments show that ZIL can achieve the localization accuracy of 87%, which is competitive
compared to state-of-the-art WiFi fingerprint-based approaches, and save energy by 68% on
average compared to the approach based on WiFi interface.
