This document provides guidelines for the nutritional care and support of people living with HIV/AIDS in Zambia. It was developed by the National Food and Nutrition Commission with input from various partners and stakeholders. The guidelines recognize that good nutrition plays an important role in the health of PLWHA, as it supports the immune system and tissue repair. They provide recommendations on nutritional screening and assessment, ensuring adequate nutrient and energy intake, and nutrition education and counseling for PLWHA. The guidelines also address the specific nutritional needs of pregnant or lactating women living with HIV, infants born to HIV-positive mothers, and nutritional support during home-based and palliative care.
