Youth Exchange: What‘s next?
Rotaract clubs bring together around 190,000 young professionals, aged from 18-
30, to exchange ideas with leaders in the community, develop leadership and
professional skills, and have fun through “leadership through service”.
In communities worldwide, Rotary and Rotaract members work side by side to take
action through service. From big cities to rural villages, Rotaract is changing
communities like yours.
Rotaract – the best way to expand your horizon and it‘s something, you will
definitely never forget!
What is Rotaract?
Rotaractors are commited
to service
Commitment also means lots of fun
 Young professionals between 18 and 30 years
 Rotaract = „Rotary in Action“
 Rotaract has over 190,000 members and can be found
in 178 countries
 Rotaractors stand for:
 Friendship
 Fairness
 Tolerance
 International understanding
 Peace
Rotaractors are commited to service
…or in other words: Rotaract means…
Rotaractors are commited to service
…to experience and have
fun together
…the great feeling, to have
friends all over the world
…to be welcome at
any time
…or in other words: Rotaract means…
Rotaractors are commited to service
…to share and to pass
on knowledge
…to party hard…to lend a helping
hand
Rotaract can‘t be
described:
Experience it for yourself!
In Germany Rotaract stands
for:
learning –
helping
– celebrating
Rotaract LEARNS:
Learing plays a very important role.
Maybe you have an extraordinary job or you simply love to travel?
Maybe you are interested in art or culture?
You will find something for your interest:
 Speeches from Rotaract members or external speakers
 Company visits
 Building and improving your leadership skills through trainings or workshops
 Theater-, concerts- or museum visits
 National and international Rotaract conferences
 Twin-club partnerships and mutual visits foster cultural exchange, understanding and
friendship
Learning – Helping –Celebrating
Rotaract HELPS:
Within your community, on a national or international level
– there is so much to do:
 Playing with kids with health problems
 Taking care of elderly people
 Building playgrounds
 Supporting people in need with fund-raisers
 Organizing fund-raisers on an international level
 Supporting disaster management on-site
Service projects happen on a very regular base, since service only works with your commitment.
The best part of it: You make a difference for many people!
Helping – Learing – Celebrating
Rotaract CELEBRATES:
Rotaract is meant to be fun.
To travel to national/international Rotaract events will give you a lot of opportunites, to get to know
people from all around the world.
 Club- and district events
 Cocktail partys
 BBQ events
 Club birthday celebrations
 Travel abroad to your Rotaract partner clubs
 National/international Rotary/Rotaract conferences
 Trips to foreign countries
Having friends all around the world and being able to rely on someone else, that‘s what matters in
Rotaract!
Helping – Learing – Celebrating
Why should you stay
engaged in the family of
Rotary?
Martin Strauch:
In Rotaract I met people with the same kind of "drive" I had when I
returned from my exchange. With these people from all kinds of
different backgrounds who were mostly a bit older than myself, I could
start great projects for a common cause and meanwhile grow further as
a person.
Why should you stay engaged in the family of Rotary?
Florian Wackermann:
The exchange year challenges so many of your beliefs, certainties and
traditions to connect them with new ways of doing things, of accomplishing
tasks and of just being happy, that I longed to experience more of that, to stay
in such an environment of openness.
[…]
Why should you stay engaged in the family of Rotary?
Florian Wackermann:
In Rotaract, I could continue the path that I started on as an exchange student, I could grow
into it and with it. I didn't find the same, it was more like a 'next step' - and it provided me with
the wonderful opportunity to create moments where I could give back to others and see that
spark continue, that so many special people lit up in me during my year of youth exchange.
The idea of Rotary was more felt than explained at the time and it keeps me active and
motivated to see it shine in so many ways across the family of Rotary.
