The document describes a child's experience with LEGO toys over time. As a young child, they enjoyed DUPLO blocks but wanted to play with LEGO toys that their older siblings and other children used to build more complex structures. However, as a younger child they had difficulty using the small LEGO pieces and following the instructions. When they received a LEGO set for their birthday, they were afraid they would not be able to successfully assemble it like their peers. The document encourages the child that by taking it step-by-step and reading the instructions, they do have the ability to complete more challenging tasks as they grow up, such as taking on new responsibilities.

1. Maybe you remember when you were small and played with DUPLO
blocks. You could hardly talk, yet you loved playing with DUPLO
blocks, building towers and simple constructions. Then one day you
saw others playing with LEGO, building fun things like a big ship, or
a knight's castle, or even an off-road car. It looked like so much
fun, and you wanted to play with LEGO yourself.
Maybe your older brother let you try, but you couldn't build things
with the small LEGO pieces because you weren't as coordinated as
your older brother. Also, you didn't yet read well enough to follow
the instructions.

BIRTHDAY!!!
You dreamed of the day when you would be big enough to play with LEGO like the older
children. But as you got older, you remembered how difficult working with LEGO pieces
was for you when you were a little kid, and you started to wonder if you would now be
able to work with all those small pieces. Would you be able to follow the instructions
correctly? Would you be creative enough to make fun things out of LEGO?
Then your birthday came around and you received a nice LEGO set— just the one that
you wanted. But instead of putting together the LEGO model, you kept the box of
pieces in the closet, because you were afraid you wouldn't be able to assemble it
correctly. Your friends were building cool things and invited you to play with them,
but you didn't want to because you were afraid that you might not be able to build
outstanding structures with LEGO like they could. (It sounds ridiculous, doesn't it?)

FUTURE
The truth is that you did have what it takes; you just had to try. You needed to follow
the instructions step by step to make the cool models. By reading the manual and
following the pictures shown, you were able to get it right and you had an incredibly fun
time doing so as well. Even when you made some mistakes along the way, you were able
to backtrack, disassemble that part of the model, and try again. You could do it!
It's the same with growing up. If you follow the instruction of your teachers in your
academic studies, and the wisdom and counsel found in God’s Word and from your
parents for the growth of your character, you will be able to handle the various
responsibilities that await you in the future.
