This document discusses fair trade and provides information about running a fair trade campaign on campus. It explains that fair trade addresses issues small farmers face like low prices and unfair trade regulations. It also describes what fair trade is, some of its key principles, and the impact it has had for over 5 million people. Finally, it provides suggestions for how to get involved in a fair trade campaign on campus, such as holding sales of fair trade products, advocating for an ethical purchasing policy, and participating in a reverse trick-or-treating event to raise awareness.
This is my final project for the course "Trading for Development in the Age of Global Value Chains - WDR 2020" on which I have reflected some lessons learned regarding the importance of GVCs. My main aim at this project is to show how agricultural value chains have positive welfare effects referring to the Community Trade Programme of The Body Shop.
Fairtrade is an alternative approach to trade based on a partnership between producers and consumers. Fairtrade works with businesses to offer producers a better deal and improved terms of trade. This allows them the opportunity to improve their lives and plan for their future. Fairtrade offers consumers a powerful way to reduce poverty through their every day shopping.
When a product carries the FAIRTRADE Mark it means the producers and traders have met Fairtrade Standards. The Standards are designed to address the imbalance of power in trading relationships, unstable markets and the injustices of conventional trade.

We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.
Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

2. Education Changes the World
Why Fair Trade?
Fair Trade responds to
major issues for small-
scale farmers:
• Low, fluctuating market prices
for crops
• Middlemen who buy from
farmers at very low prices
• Unfair trade regulations and
subsidies
• Little access to information,
credit or proper technology
• Poor working and
environmental conditions
3. Education Changes the World
What is Fair Trade?
Fair Trade is similar to a normal supply chain
model of business. There are producers,
importers, processors, retailers and
consumers. The difference is the monitoring
and certification at the core of the system
which guarantees that the supply chain is
built on and functions according to standards
of fairness, transparency and
accountability.
