The document discusses the initial ideas and script writing process for a short film. Some of the early ideas included filming in a broken down lift or having a romantic drama set in an office. The characters developed included a charming but potentially dark male lead, a shy female lead, and her attractive friend. The main plot involved the two leads getting stuck in a lift together and forming a relationship, until a twist ending revealed the male lead was stalking the friend. The script went through revisions, including changing the male's job and making the second female the main character's friend to increase dramatic effect.
This is my presentation on the casting choices my team and I made for our A2 production. Casting is very important for this film, as if we don't choose the right people, the film could give off the wrong genre and seem almost like a parody.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.

2. How it all started and what were our
most initial ideas.
• At this point of the year we have fully finished writing the
script. In this presentation I will talk about how it all
happened.
• Before we even thought about carrying on with anything
we ha to sit down and look at all of our assets and what we
could do with what he had to produce our film.
• Location assets: School, office within the school, other
buildings around our area.
• Actor assets: School staff, students, family members.
• Equipment: School will provide us with what we need.
Main camera, GoPro camera, lighting kit, editing suite.
• After taking all of this into account we began to come up
with ideas for our film with the assets we had.
3. First ideas
• One of first ideas was the idea of filming in a
lift and the lift breaking down. This initial idea
brought about many things that could happen
in the lift. That idea of friendships forming in
times of crisis was a key thing and that’s how
our films plays out.
4. Initial ideas for our film
• One of the first ideas that we had come up with was basing
the film in a office type area. This was easy for us as we had
access to an office area within the school which was one of
our assets.
• Upon researching on other short films we had laid down on
the idea of a romantic/drama film based in a lift.
• One of the main things that we had to keep in mind was
the main audience of our film was going to be students.
And for this reason we had to keep the film entertaining
and for this reason we decided to add in some comedy
elements. Also that idea of a first date came into mind
when thinking about the story of the film and students
being able to relate to this idea.
5. Character ideas
• The main story around our film revolves around 2 people getting stuck in a
lift and building a romantic relationship with each other as a result. For
this reason dialog was very important as I will explain later on.
• The main male: This character will appear kind and charming, he will also
seem very caring in tough situations such as when the lift breaks down.
However as there will be a twist in the story he will also need to have a
dark side to him. Choosing an actor for this role will be slightly more
challenging as this person will need to almost play two different kinds of
people.
• The main female: This character is an attractive young woman who has a
sweet personality. She is a little shy but opens up to people who usually
make the first move.
• Main females friend: The character development of this character was not
so detailed and long. The main thing that we included when making this
character was that she needed to sound like a nice friend and look
attractive enough for a stalker.
6. The plot- summed up
• Normal working day
• Lift breaks down (the problem)
• Relationship between the two main characters begins to
build.
• The lift begins to work again (resolution)
• The main male asks the main female for her number and
she gives it to him for future date plans. (happy ending)
• The main male walks away into a security room and
watches the girls best friend walk into the lift he had just
come from on the security monitors.
• He walks out of the room to the lift and greets the girl
exactly how he greeted the main female. (twist!!)
7. Going back and re writing and refining.
• At first we thought the guy should be a janitor pretending
to work in finance. But we felt it would be unrealistic for
him to have so much access to the security room. So we
made the main male into a security guard so it would be
more realistic the fact that he would be in a security room
observing the monitors.
• We also thought it might be best for the second girl to be a
strangers at first. It would seem more stalker-ish and
creepy. However we felt it would be best if the second girl
was the best friend, as it would seem more evil and devious
if it was the main females best friend. It seems more wrong
and this further alarms the audience.
