Analysis Of Sartre s The Gambler Essay
Sartre argues that one breaks their resolution because of his/her freedom and anguish of the past. He
uses a gambler as an example. The gambler makes a resolution to stop gambling, but when he sees a
gambling table he rethinks the resolution. According to Sartre, the gambler is in anguish because of
his freedom to gamble. Sartre writes that the gambler perceive[s] with anguish that nothing prevents
him from gambling (Sartre, 70). The anguish provoked comes from the freedom to break the
resolution. The gambler made the resolution in the past to stop gambling, but when he sees the
gambling table he has to remake his decision because the resolution is not set in stone. He stands there
in nothingness as he contemplates what to do realizing that there is nothing in his way of gambling.
This freedom to make a new decision presents itself as anguish. It is a constantly renewed obligation
to remake the self which designates the free being (Sartre, 72). The gambler wants to no longer live in
the past through following the resolution, but instead wants to become his future self. If the gambler
changes himself his anguish will be removed for the moment. Although the outcome with the gambler
was not stated, it can be assumed that he started gambling again to remove the anguish. Some people
may look at the gambling as an addiction. These people would argue that it is not the anguish created
by the power of freedom that brings a gambler back to gambling, but rather the chemicals in

Peace Synthesis Essay
Authors such as John Lederach, Jarat Chopra, and Tanja Hohe explain that one of the worst ways to go
about building peace in a post conflict country is to approach it with an overly westernized strategy.
Doing so leads to a failure to create public support for the new government and an ultimate failure to
create lasting peace. Jarat Chopra, and Tanja Hohe explain that a far more effective strategy is one of
integration. They believe that it is irresponsible to eliminate traditional structures of governance if
they have been successful in the past at promoting peace. The goal of integration is to take traditional
local sources of governance and use them to establish a better refined national government. This leads
to a wider adoption rate of post conflict government and prevents power vacuums from occurring.
(Chopra Jarat, 2004)
Having both the Puntland and South Central Somalia adopt the Beel System is an exhalent form of
integration. The Beel System already has both western institutions and local cultural roots. The Beel
System creates three governmental branches, an executive branch, a legislative branch, and a judicial
branch, which all operate independently each other. (Jimcaale, Cabdirahman, 2002)This system of
separation of powers mimics western governments in an effort to prevent corruption and ... Show

A Rhetorical Analysis Of Rubio s Name-Calling
Marco Rubio is a Florida senator who is running for president in the 2016 election . He believes that
women do not deserve equal pay, that the US must not help people to get out of debt, and that gay
rights should be revoked. Now gay rights , as they are referred to, are actually rights for the LGBT
community. LGBT stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender, so gay rights actually cover a lot
more individuals. These rights are just basic human rights for people who identify with the LGBT
community, just an example of the rights, the right to marry, the right to shop where they want, the
right to be treated respectfully at a job, and etc. And even though these are just basic human rights
people still fight against them, leaving the LGBT community to fight back. The ... Show more content

one device used to call out their oppressors, and that is the Name Calling Device. The author of this
LGBT article, Zack Ford, uses the Name Calling Device to show Rubio s view is wrong and get to the
readers to dislike him. This is done through the use of extreme diction, highlighting contradictory
statements, and by directly addressing his rebuttals to Rubio s claims. To begin, Ford uses a very
extreme sense of diction to unveil Rubio curtain of deception. Ford uses no passive words when
writing his article there is no broadened, uncurtain approach, everything that is written is definite and

Revention for any Computer System Failure Essay
In companies, there are several problem in computer system. Companies need to take in order to
prevent any computer system failure. The first way to prevent is, adequate backup. The most common
problem experienced by the company when they do not do any back up. The best way to ensure safety
is to make a backup of the can. In the event of any threat or destruction cannot be saved, with the
backup will not be a problem.
Secondly is test your backup data. After backing up, you should test your backups by performing data
recovery. To perform tests on the backup data has been stored, you can confirm that your data is safe
in the back up. If you do not have a test system, you need to practice to keep your data into a

Fifth way to prevent is using a firewall. A firewall is a system, or group of system that enforces an
access control policy between two networks. It is commonly used as a barrier between a secure
corporate intranet or other internal networks and the internet, which is unsecured. Firewalls
functioning by deciding what traffic to permit into and out of the network and what traffic block.
Firewalls need to be configured to enforce the company security procedures and policies. Firewall will
block threats and malicious hackers. You should make sure the firewall kept between the Internet and
your computer, also other users. Your data will be safe from the outside and you do not need to have
problems to cope with the threat.
The other way to prevent is, do not share or allow any network access to any unknown users. Your
computer data maybe expose to theft and modification. Anyone on the Internet can access your files or
data freely. If you receive any emails or spamming with the attachment from unknown senders, do not
open it. It may contain virus or they can detect your data through it. If they managed to detect your
computer, this will give you big problems. You will have difficulty if there is important information
you scattered.
Furthermore, you need to beware of user error. Often that company engineer is the main problems. A
common way that users always lose their data is when they are doing any editing a document and
accidentally delete the portions of data. After

A Patient s Rights to Refuse Treatment and How it Relates...
A Patient s Rights to Refuse Treatment and How it Relates to Learned Helplessness of Individuals
The concept of learned helplessness was first suggested by M. Seligman an animal psychologist, in
1975. During a series of experiments involving rats and dogs, he discovered that the animals which
had some control over their environment (in being able to prevent a series of electric shocks) would
always try to avoid the undesirable stimulus; whereas the animals which had previously had no control
over their environment (and so were unable to prevent the shocks) eventually became apathetic and
would not try to escape the stimulus, even if it was possible to do so.
It was found ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This leads us to the concept of the locus of control, as hypothesized by Rotter (1966). In this theory he
stated that there are personality types who have and external locus of control, and try to hold external
factors such as fate, luck, or other people as being responsible for many aspects of their lives. Those
with an internal locus of control tend to believe that they have control over their own actions, and any
events that happen to them during their lives, are a result of their own actions.
Whether one accepts learned helplessness or not, one of the most stressful occurrences which can
occur in an individual s life is an admission to hospital due to an acute or chronic illness. It is a time
when the individual s personal independence and privacy are all but destroyed, and everyday activities
such as using the toilet, bathing, sleeping, eating and relaxing become part of an alien regime over
which the individual has little or no control.
Some people cease their normal behavior patterns and adopt the role of the patient, as can be seen very
often in hospitals, when they immediately change into their night clothes and get into bed. Generally
these patients tend to be passive, place very few demands on the ward staff, are generally co operative
with their treatment program, and seldom ask questions. The ward staff reacts to these good

Adaptations Are Broken Into Three Types Of Adaptations
INTRODUCTION
Adaptations are broken into three types of Adaptations. Structural, Physiological and Behavioural,
these types of adaptations differ from one another changing a different aspect of the organism.
Structural Adaptations are the change in appearance based on the organism s environment.
Physiological Adaptations are the organisms body chemistry, metabolism, and reproductive attributes.
Behavior Adaptations are the way in which an organism acts.
THE RED KANGAROO
The kangaroos ability to hop is a structural adaptation. The kangaroo s leg muscles spring when the
kangaroo makes impact with the ground. This transfer from elastic potential energy to kinetic energy
saves the kangaroo from using unnecessary energy to cover large distances. (As seen in figure 1)
The female kangaroo s efficient breeding cycle also assists them in surviving the harsh environment.
They have the ability, when pregnant, to put the growth of the embryo on hold until external
conditions improve. This increases the chances of the young surviving. In times of drought, many
kangaroos will die but when conditions are good female kangaroos can have three young ones with
them at the same time: one as an embryo (not yet born), one in the pouch attached to a teat and one
outside the pouch but still drinking the mother s milk. This extreme breeding cycle is a huge
physiological adaptation that has allowed the kangaroo to reproduce.
A physiological adaptations of the red kangaroos is that they

The Theory Of Leonardo Da Vinci s Multiple Intelligence...
Gardner s Multiple Intelligence theory challenged traditional beliefs in the field of education and
cognitive science. He is a psychologist professor at Harvard University s Graduate School of
Education. According to a traditional definition, intelligence is a uniform cognitive capacity people are
born with. Simply put, intelligence is the ability to acquire and apply knowledge and skills. Gardner s
theory of Multiple Intelligences proposes that all human beings possess each of the nine intelligences
in varying amounts. In addition, he claims that these intelligences are located in different parts of the
brain which can work together or independent of each other, and that the multiple intelligences can be
strengthened or weakened depending how you treat each intelligence. The nine intelligences are as
follows:
Visual/Spatial People who are strong visually/spatially learn best when they are given material that is
organized spatially. They like to have physical models or to see what is being taught to understand.
They enjoy anything eye catching like charts, graphs, maps, tables, illustrations, art, or puzzles. A man
that immediately comes to mind that shows exceptional visual/spatial intelligence is Leonardo Da
Vinci (1452 1519), who not only was a great artist who created pieces such as the Mona Lisa and The
Last Supper, but also studied the anatomy of the human body. He sketched detailed diagrams of parts
of the body such as the brain, parts of the skeleton, and even

Cassandra O Koren from Dreamland and Jonas from The Giver have many similarities. However, they
also have a few differences. Cassandra and Jonas are alike because they both ran away and they have
the same personality. On the other hand, their physical traits aren t the same and they have different
living conditions.
First, Both Cass and Jonas ran away for the same reason. They felt they weren t free living where they

What she was, was student body president two years running, star right wing on the girls soccer team

vegetables at the homeless shelter for soup night every Thursday, had been skydiving twice, and was
famous in our high school for staging the firing of a popular English teacher... (Dessen 11) Many
people were jealous of Cass s and Jonas s successfulness. Cass s sister Caitlin always felt as if she was
living in Cass s shadow and that Cass was always the center of attention. Also, when Jonas was
selected Asher was upset because all eyes were on Jonas. Lastly, they both worry often. For example,
Cass worried what her life at Yale would be like (she made sure not to show these emotions) and Jonas
worried about what assignment he would receive. But it s the ceremony I m feeling apprehensive

Of Mice And Men American Dream Theme Essay
Of Mice and Men has many recurring themes throughout. One of the main themes is the impossibility
of the american dream. There are many characters that showed the theme. The main characters George
and Lennie showed it. Also Candy and Crooks shared a similar dream. Another character that showed
the theme was Curley s wife before she died . The impossibility of the american dream is a major
theme in Of Mice and Men. Lennie and George show this theme very well. They have probably the
biggest dream all. There dream is to own many acres and have a farm. The aslo want to own rabbits

George talking about their dream and ask them if he can join (chapter 3). The next day Lennie talks to
crooks about their plans and dream for a farm and crooks shows some interest in joining (chapter 4).
This show the impossibility for an american dream because they are wishing to sustain themselves.

Philip Larkin (1922 1895) was an English novelist and poet, in 1955 he became a Liberian at the
University of Hull. He would stay on working at the University until his death in 1895. During the
first few months of his time working at the University he stayed in various bedsits, after this he moved
into a flat which appears to be the same flat in which he wrote his poem High Windows which was
first published in 1974. Clive James commented on this poem by saying: The total impression of High
Windows is of despair made beautiful. 1 The speaker of High Windows is most likely Larkin,
although he is hiding behind a mask, not truly confirming his identity as he narrates on what he sees
looking out of his window. High Windows was written in London during the time known as The
Summer of Love, this is when Bands such as The Beatles brought around the craze of free thinkers,
free love and drug use; no longer was the topic of sex whispered in the shadows. Seamus Heaney

collection of poems called North. Heaney wrote this poem and collection of poems after discovering

In order to meet the energy demand and a sustainable future, renewable energy is a better way to
achieve it.
Commonly, renewable energy is defined as energy which is able to be captured from existing natural
resources that are replenished rapidly, such as flowing water, sunshine, wind, geothermal heat flows
and ocean [2]. Renewable energy technologies are required to provide technologies to use one or
several renewable energy resources. There are some different types of renewable energy technologies,
which include solar energy, bioenergy, hydropower, wind energy, geothermal energy and tidal energy.
This thesis project will focus on the solar photovoltaic which is currently one of types of solar energy
technologies, and this technology using photovoltaic cells to converts sunlight directly into
electricity.Solar photovoltaic system can generate electricity from sunlight through using PV modules,
and the system can be integrated into building designs, installed on rooftops, or large scale power

International Market and Trade Research in Ireland
International market and trade research is beyond the capabilities and needs of the small Irish exporter.

International Marketing and Trade Research follows the very same path as domestic research, only
that there are a few more problems that can arise when entering the international market. Customers in
international markets may have very different customs, cultures, and expectations from the same

Geographic distance would be a definite problem for the small Irish exporter being that Ireland is an
island on the edge of Europe so physical remoteness is an issue for export etc. But on the upscale we

small exporter. The difference in climate that can occur in Ireland depending on the product could
raise some issues also. Bearing these factors in mind, conducting a feasibility study before considering
a prospective market would be an excellent idea.
Economic distance especially now more so than ever with the EU bailout of Ireland, financial

Alternatively, zinc is also used for medicinal purposes. It is the most essential chemical for human
functioning. Zinc sulphate also plays the same role as the normal element zinc
Zinc is a shiny silvery and bluish element.
Zinc can be used together with many other elements to form alloys. For example, Brass is an alloy of
zinc and copper mixed together.
Most air changes (discolours) zinc. However, with a thin layer of a coating, the zinc cannot be
oxidised.
There is little evidence for the Greeks showing that they had known of the existence of zinc . They
also claim that the called the zinc false silver , but had a reasoning that they could not produce

Essay about Kmart Corporate Strategy
Historical Background
Kmart started off as a discount retailer successfully pioneering the same concept as that of F. W.
Woolworth. As stores began to grow and diversify, Kmart stepped in and took the lead role in offering
a one stop shopping center that fulfilled everyone s needs. As new niches began to emerge offering
larger, more specialized stores, Kmart hit a major hurdle. The successful management strategies it had
developed early on were now outdated and in major need of being renovated to coincide with
changing market place and customer values. As Kmart attempted to revolutionize its image and
infrastructure, stores such as Target and Wal Mart took over as the leaders in the discount retailer
arena. As Kmart s image began to sink ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
• The Internet has changed and will continue to change how people shop and new competition
through the Internet will continue to shape the market.
Power of Suppliers Low Steady • The depth of the product line and buying power created by the
potential volume makes the threat of suppliers a relative non issue.
Buyers High Increasing • Buyers have many more options for low price merchandise resources
especially with the Inter net.
• Buyers are increasingly price sensitive and value conscious and are more likely to make purchasing
decisions based upon perceived pricevalue.
• Location, selection, and convenience are increasingly important competitive factors.
Substitutes High Increasing • Substitutes for the discount store are many and include established
stores and the Internet.
• Switching costs are very low.
Rivalry High Increasing • Wal Mart, Sam s Club, Cost Co, Target, Amazon.com, and etc are all
targeting the same consumers and continually adding value andor discounting prices.
• Kmart will need to re establish themselves as the low cost leader in order to reacquire and add to
their customer base.
The level of threat to the industry is relatively high with competition from the Internet changing the
face of merchandising the most. Big names like Wal Mart and

Mortuza September 16, 2010 Mobile phone has become an indispensable part of Bangladesh s
everyday life and has made a safe haven in one of our pockets much like our wallet that we never
want to leave at home while we head for our work! Thanks to the telecom revolution and its relentless
evolution that together have made it possible even in developing countries like Bangladesh. This is the
dominant device that we now express ourselves through, get our work done and share our pains and
pleasures with. In this paper we have analyzed this mobile telecom industry on the basis of its

Segmentation also helps identify the key features of a product that will give the customers the most
value for money and lead to building motive for buying. Identifying the needs of a customer often
opens up new markets that a firm may expand into. The customers of the telecom industry in
Bangladesh pretty much include everyone in the country. Communication can almost be deemed a
necessity nowadays and the telecom industry takes advantage of this by constantly promoting their
products with high budget advertisements and endorsements, falling prices, and diverse products.
Target customers are hardly ever able to avoid being exposed to telecom products, and combined with
constantly reducing call rates resulting from competition, a large segment of the country s population
now utilize subscription to more than one operator. I. Segments The telecom industry of Bangladesh
tends to target the country s entire population as a single segment, but varies its product in terms of
augmented features and benefits to appeal to distinctive segments of customers within that one
segment. While all the players in the industry attempts to compete with each other in all segments,
they usually tend to target heavily the segment in which their primary core competency lies. Some of
the customer segments are as follows: The everyday user Usually more

Flower Ornament Sutra Vs Buddhism Essay
Buddhism, on the other hand, understands the psychological nature of humans very deeply and
develops effective treatment methods. As revealed in the Flower Ornament Sutra [Avatamsaka Sutra],
Our perception Three Kingdoms arise from the mind, so do Twelve Links of Dependent Origination;
birth and death come from the mind, which are extinguished when the mind is put to rest . If we view
Buddhism in this lens, itself in conglomeration with psychology has much to reveal about both
practices (Williams Oerberg, Elizabeth, 2012).
The journey home that Buddhists refer to as the privilege of enlightenment, the ultimate truth, is called
the paramattha. The Paramattha is not the same journey as other faiths profess, because other faiths,
like the science known as psychology, emphasize outside influence, in one way or another, in the
ancient long search for understanding. Understanding life, afterlife, existence, thought, personality,
behavior, and the unknown. These latter truth seekers have overlapping roads of distinction on their
charted course that is not an essential part of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Buddhist path is more personal. It combines the participation of both the researcher and that
whom which is being researched, to come together within the body, mind, spirit exchange of one
individual...the seeker. The Buddhist, unlike the psychologist, has a condition of established
foundation which is impossible to invade or ascertain in a scientific environment of practitioners, that
is a knowing and following of spiritual awakening. The Buddhists quest begins with this necessary
desire, Bodhi, which means awakening. It is a long journey home because I am now realizing that I
may have spent my 22 years on the earth being asleep, and I too, want to be truly alive and truly

Improving Decision Tree Performance Methods
There are several improvement methods are available to improve decision tree performance in terms
of accuracy, and modelling time. Since experimenting with every available method is impossible,
some of the methods are selected that are proven to increase decision tree performances. Selected
improvement methods and their experimental setups are presented in this chapter.
4.1 Correlation Based Feature Selection
Feature selection is a method used for reducing number of dimensions of a dataset by removing
irrelevant and redundant attributes. Given a set of attributes F and a target class C, goal of feature
selection is to find a minimum set of F that will yield highest accuracy (for C) for the classification
task. Although ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also, method is performing well for C4.5 algorithm is likely to perform well for ID3 algorithm.
Previous studies show that CFS method increases accuracy for CART algorithm although not as much
as the C4.5 algorithm does (Doraisamy et al., 2008).
CFS uses a search algorithm and feature evaluation algorithm which uses a heuristic that measures
goodness of attributes subsets. Hall and Smith (1998) define this goodness heuristic as Good feature
subsets contain features highly correlated with the class, yet uncorrelated with each other. Equation 1
below shows heuristic formula. G_x=(k¯(r_ci ))/√(k+k(k 1)¯(r_ii ))
Where G_x is the heuristic of goodness of an attribute subset x that contains k features, ¯(r_ci ) is
average attribute class correlation which points predictive power of the attribute subset to a class, and
¯(r_ii ) is average attribute inter correlation that indicates the redundancy among attributes.
A version of correlation based attribute selection to be included in experiment setup is called Fast
Correlation Based Feature Selection (FCBF) that initially developed by Yu and Liu (2004). This
algorithm is preferred over other available correlation based attribute selection algorithms since while
other implementations of CFS using forward sequential or greedy search methods (e.g. MRMR/CFS
developed by Schoewe,

Bigger Thomas In Native Son
Bigger Thomas is a fictional, 20 year old, Negro male living in Chicago during the Great Depression.
This character, created by Richard Wright in Native Son, became assigned with the job of giving
insight to the life of a black American male during the 1930s. Bigger lived a life in which he made
decisions on impulse, fueled by his emotions. No action Bigger completed became carried out with
proper thought and rationality, thus, ultimately ending in his imprisonment and, furthermore, his
death. Through the telling of Bigger s life, Wright shows what influences created a man such as
Bigger. In doing this, Wright proves that Bigger Thomas cannot exist as more than a symbol used to
highlight the oppression the black race faced post Civil War. Wright himself had to endure the racism
and prejudice during this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bigger acted irrationally, suffocating Mary on accident in order to prevent himself from getting
caught. He then took her down to the basement and attempted to place her in the furnace. After
realizing her head would not fit in the furnace, he whacked at the bone with the knife. The head hung
limply on the newspapers, the curly black hair dragging about in blood. He whacked harder, but the
head would not come off (Wright, 92). This act of extreme violence is exactly what Wright intended to
show. This act of taboo contrasted greatly from what was seen and expected of the Negro man during
this time. The act of Bigger raping and killing Bessie also shows Wright s usage of shock value.
Bigger and Bessie hide out in an abandoned home after the police comes to the realization that Bigger
killed Mary. As they hide out, Bigger sees Bessie as a liability and comes to the conclusion that he
must kill her. As he smashes her head in with the

Disability In Still Alice
Independent film can be examined by 5 terms: the relation in its work process, it means of production,
the financing of its film, its conception of quality films and its system of consumption (Bordwell,
Staiger and Thompson, 1985, p.317). The second film that will argue the representation of a minority
group is the independent drama film, Still Alice (2014) directed by Richard Glazer with his partner
Wash Westmoreland. Still Alice worked on a smaller budget in comparison to MBY totalling up to
only $5 million which was attached to small independent production company, Killer Films which is
known to work with independent films. Still Alice offers a form of discourse to represent individuals
from a minority group, in particular the film ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The film unlike MBY offers an authentic portrayal of the disability which critics have praised Julianne
Moore roles as Alice, gaining her Academy award for best actress that year. The narrative of the film
was praised, due to accuracy of how the symptoms were shown throughout they film, Moore s
character would often forget things and would need written props to help her remember, the simplistic
presentation of the symptoms of the disease were highly praised as they were lifelike. According to
film critic Christy Lemire (2014), that Still Alice doesn t shy away from the terrifying disease that can
take away a person memories and the ability to communicate to others. He believes the film message
matters and the film has the ability to reach over millions of people who are suffering with Alzheimer
s or know of people who are. This argument from Lemire (2014), summaries how independent films
do not need to compromise any artistic nor realistic components to tell a heart breaking story that

I Attended The Christmas With The Mormon Tabernacle Choir
I attended the Christmas with the Mormon Tabernacle choir, Orchestra at Temple Square and Bells on
Temple Square. The event was held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints conference
center building. The building holds approximately 21,000 people. This particular musical performance
was for Christmas time. Every year they feature a special guest. Usually it is an famous American
singer or story teller, but this year it was more of a cultural experience. This year their guest was
Ronaldo Villazon. Mr. Villazon was born in Mexico city, and is know for one of the most unique and
compelling tenor voices today. He brought a very different flare to this performance. This show is
presented in December around Christmas time. All of the songs sung, and reading that were read had
to do with the Christmas season and Christ. Many familiar songs were sung and played by the
orchestra such as I Saw Three Ships, Carol of the Drum, Miniature Overture from the Nutcracker, We
Three Kings, Holidays at Home and more. Rolando Villzon sung song from his culture. He sang
Cancion para la Navidad, Il eat ne, le diving Enfant, O souverain, O juge, O pere, from Le Cid, and
more. He is a christen but is not a Mormon. It was neat to see the two different, but very similar
cultures unite and mesh so well together. There was a huge choir made up of men and women that
sung along with him. A part from the singers there were many talented musicians. There were drums,

Descriptive Essay About My Family
My Oasis
A little girl with blonde hair and blue eyes stares out the window of her parents red Mazda Tribute. As
the Mazda comes to a stop, the little girl lays her eyes upon a big green house with a sign out front that
says, Welcome to the Lake . That blue eyed girl was me ten years ago, and that big green house was
my grandparent s lake house right after they purchased it. This was the first time I ever laid eyes on a
home that now holds a special place in my heart. I have grown to love the lake house for three
reasons; the lake provides me with a place to connect with my family, it s a retreat from the outside
world, and I have many different hobbies that involve the lake.
Directly in the middle of the large green lake house is a family room. The room has two dark blue
couches and the floor has bean bags scattered all over; all of the seats provide us with enough space to
fit my grandparents, aunts, uncles, parents, siblings, and cousins all in one room. Whenever families
get bigger they start to drift apart because everyone has so much going on. All of my family lives less
than fifteen minutes away from me, but sometimes we all get so caught up in our own lives that we
forget how important it is to spend time with each other. This family room is our anchor; It provides us
with a place where we can all forget about the little things in our lives and focus on what matters,
family. Some of my best memories of the lake aren t even about the lake, but instead the memories

Understanding Piaget Theory And Information Processing Theory
The study of Cognitive theories has many different aspects that have been debated many years ago.
Developmental psychologists try to explain cognitive development approaches which describe the
process of human s thought. One of the developmental psychologist who studied on the area of
cognitive was Jean Piaget. Jean Piaget a Swiss psychologist was the first developmental researcher
who has extensive research on cognitive development. In addition, the revolution of Jean Piaget s
cognitive theory has changed the development psychology forever. In fact, although this theory is one
of the most influential theories that have had a major impact on child s cognitive development, many
developmental psychologist has been criticized it as well(Miller,2007). Therefore, the limitations of
this theory made the developmental psychologists thinking of information processing theory might
complete Piaget s Theory(Miller,2007). Information processing theory is another theory that was
engaged in the era of cognitive development. It is possible to better understand Piaget theory and
Information Processing theory by comparing several important aspects of developmental psychology:
nature of humans, quantitative or qualitative, and nature or nurture.
Piaget Cognitive Theory
To begin with, Piaget s cognitive theory has four stages. According to Miller,2011 she states that
Piaget described each stage and referred them to the ability of human understanding. First stage is the
sensorimotor stage

Gay Marriage Research Paper
In today s society, there are many stereotypical people that are against gay or lesbian marriage.
Everyone should have the right to decide on who they would like to marry. Gay marriage should be
legal and a non punishable offense because it can prevent teenage suicides, more children will be
adopted, and people will not feel like second class citizens.
If humanity were to accept gay marriage, it would lower and prevent some teen suicides. Most teens
are deciding and revealing what path they are going to take in middle and high school. The number of
suicide attempts among high school students decreased in states where same sex marriage was legal.
The findings covered thirty two states that legalized same sex marriage from 1999 to 2015
(Willingham). All kids have a difficult time coming out to the world, and it causes them not to feel
heard or accepted. When states make it legal more people that do not support it change their views
when they see it is not different from a ordinary couple.
Many teens also feel less accepted by the world when it comes to other kids in their school. Students
that do not support others orientation creates a discomforting environment. Unsafe school
environments prevent LGBT students from reaching their full academic potential (Slater). The
children have to feel heard or they will fall into a depression and will shut out everyone that cares
about them. Therefore, safe spaces for LGBT students ( LGBT Youth ) Which will allow kids to have

Juvenile Offenders And The Adult Courts For Trial
Tennessee, like many other states, has provisions, provided for in the state laws, for the transfer of
juvenile offenders to the adult courts for trial. The youth court has to follow the procedures, which are
outlined in the statute, to include the minimum age of a juvenile, who is to be transferred to the adult
courts, and the specific crimes for which such a transfer may take place. While I recognize, as the
United States Supreme Court did in Roper v. Simmons, (2005), that children are immature, and easily
led astray, there are times when the protection of the community mandates that certain juveniles be
treated as adults. This should be done on a case by case basis, and only for the most heinous and
violent crimes. In the state ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This statute also provides for the juvenile having reached their sixteenth birthday, at the time the crime
was committed, except in the cases of first and second degree murder, aggravated rape, kidnapping,
aggravated kidnapping, rape of a child, or an attempt to commit such crimes (Tenn. Code, 2010). In
cases of this nature, Tennessee law does not provide for a minimum age for the juvenile to be
transferred to the adult courts. What this means is that technically, a child of any age, who commits
such violent crimes, can be tried as an adult if the youth court decides to transfer the case.
Consequently, this statute also provides provisions for the housing of such juvenile offenders in the
adult correctional facilities. In subsections 2(h) through 2(j) of Tenn. Code, section 37 1 134, (2010),
mandates that if juveniles have been transferred to the adult courts, and is between 16 and 18 years of
age, they are to be detained in an adult correctional facility, but kept separate from adult offenders, if
possible. Upon their conviction, and sentencing, juveniles between 16 and 18 years of age can be sent
to adult prisons, and kept separate from adult offenders, at the discretion of the corrections
commissioner. All juveniles, under the age of 16, who have been transferred to the adult courts, and
subsequently convicted, are to be housed in a juvenile detention facility until their sixteenth

The Effects Of The Detroit Race Riot Of 1967
The Detroit race riot of 1967 was one the most destructive and violent riots of the 159 race riots that
occurred during the Long Hot Summer. For five straight days civilians fought the police, resulting in
43 deaths, 1,189 injuries, 7,200 arrests, and over 2,500 lootings. Fifty years later there are still visible
results of the riot, and the event remains a source of reflection for Detroit citizens. Asides from the
building damage and violence, the riots affected various aspects of Detroit s culture, including the
Motown enterprise, which was producing chart topping music that influenced listeners across the
globe. As a genre of music that was known as The Sound of Young America in the 1960s, studying the
Motown sound before and after the riots can provide insight into Detroit citizens mindset.
Between 1964 and 1967 Motown recorded sixty top fifteen pop chart hits, fourteen of which were
number ones. But Motown s success was almost unfathomable to the music industry as a record label
ran by an African American with African American musicians and producers. Berry Gordy, the
founder of Motown, managed to create black music and commercialize it directly to a white American
audience that was often times only willing to consume music that was at least covered by a white
musician. This all occurred in the wake of the British Invasion , from 1964 to 1966, where young
white Americans became drawn to male dominated guitar based groups. With Billboard s decision to

  • 2. Analysis Of Sartre s The Gambler Essay Sartre argues that one breaks their resolution because of his/her freedom and anguish of the past. He uses a gambler as an example. The gambler makes a resolution to stop gambling, but when he sees a gambling table he rethinks the resolution. According to Sartre, the gambler is in anguish because of his freedom to gamble. Sartre writes that the gambler perceive[s] with anguish that nothing prevents him from gambling (Sartre, 70). The anguish provoked comes from the freedom to break the resolution. The gambler made the resolution in the past to stop gambling, but when he sees the gambling table he has to remake his decision because the resolution is not set in stone. He stands there in nothingness as he contemplates what to do realizing that there is nothing in his way of gambling. This freedom to make a new decision presents itself as anguish. It is a constantly renewed obligation to remake the self which designates the free being (Sartre, 72). The gambler wants to no longer live in the past through following the resolution, but instead wants to become his future self. If the gambler changes himself his anguish will be removed for the moment. Although the outcome with the gambler was not stated, it can be assumed that he started gambling again to remove the anguish. Some people may look at the gambling as an addiction. These people would argue that it is not the anguish created by the power of freedom that brings a gambler back to gambling, but rather the chemicals in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Peace Synthesis Essay Authors such as John Lederach, Jarat Chopra, and Tanja Hohe explain that one of the worst ways to go about building peace in a post conflict country is to approach it with an overly westernized strategy. Doing so leads to a failure to create public support for the new government and an ultimate failure to create lasting peace. Jarat Chopra, and Tanja Hohe explain that a far more effective strategy is one of integration. They believe that it is irresponsible to eliminate traditional structures of governance if they have been successful in the past at promoting peace. The goal of integration is to take traditional local sources of governance and use them to establish a better refined national government. This leads to a wider adoption rate of post conflict government and prevents power vacuums from occurring. (Chopra Jarat, 2004) Having both the Puntland and South Central Somalia adopt the Beel System is an exhalent form of integration. The Beel System already has both western institutions and local cultural roots. The Beel System creates three governmental branches, an executive branch, a legislative branch, and a judicial branch, which all operate independently each other. (Jimcaale, Cabdirahman, 2002)This system of separation of powers mimics western governments in an effort to prevent corruption and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 4. A Rhetorical Analysis Of Rubio s Name-Calling Marco Rubio is a Florida senator who is running for president in the 2016 election . He believes that women do not deserve equal pay, that the US must not help people to get out of debt, and that gay rights should be revoked. Now gay rights , as they are referred to, are actually rights for the LGBT community. LGBT stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender, so gay rights actually cover a lot more individuals. These rights are just basic human rights for people who identify with the LGBT community, just an example of the rights, the right to marry, the right to shop where they want, the right to be treated respectfully at a job, and etc. And even though these are just basic human rights people still fight against them, leaving the LGBT community to fight back. The author of this LGBT article, Zack Ford, uses the Name Calling Device to show Rubio s view is wrong and get to the readers to dislike him. This is done through the use of extreme diction, highlighting contradictory statements, and by directly addressing his rebuttals to Rubio s claims. To begin, Ford uses a very extreme sense of diction to unveil Rubio curtain of deception. Ford uses no passive words when writing his article there is no broadened, uncurtain approach, everything that is written is definite and concrete. Without leaving ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A Patient s Rights to Refuse Treatment and How it Relates to Learned Helplessness of Individuals The concept of learned helplessness was first suggested by M. Seligman an animal psychologist, in 1975. During a series of experiments involving rats and dogs, he discovered that the animals which had some control over their environment (in being able to prevent a series of electric shocks) would always try to avoid the undesirable stimulus; whereas the animals which had previously had no control over their environment (and so were unable to prevent the shocks) eventually became apathetic and would not try to escape the stimulus, even if it was possible to do so. It was found ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This leads us to the concept of the locus of control, as hypothesized by Rotter (1966). In this theory he stated that there are personality types who have and external locus of control, and try to hold external factors such as fate, luck, or other people as being responsible for many aspects of their lives. Those with an internal locus of control tend to believe that they have control over their own actions, and any events that happen to them during their lives, are a result of their own actions. Whether one accepts learned helplessness or not, one of the most stressful occurrences which can occur in an individual s life is an admission to hospital due to an acute or chronic illness. It is a time when the individual s personal independence and privacy are all but destroyed, and everyday activities such as using the toilet, bathing, sleeping, eating and relaxing become part of an alien regime over which the individual has little or no control. Some people cease their normal behavior patterns and adopt the role of the patient, as can be seen very often in hospitals, when they immediately change into their night clothes and get into bed. Generally these patients tend to be passive, place very few demands on the ward staff, are generally co operative with their treatment program, and seldom ask questions. The ward staff reacts to these good ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Adaptations Are Broken Into Three Types Of Adaptations INTRODUCTION Adaptations are broken into three types of Adaptations. Structural, Physiological and Behavioural, these types of adaptations differ from one another changing a different aspect of the organism. Structural Adaptations are the change in appearance based on the organism s environment. Physiological Adaptations are the organisms body chemistry, metabolism, and reproductive attributes. Behavior Adaptations are the way in which an organism acts. THE RED KANGAROO The kangaroos ability to hop is a structural adaptation. The kangaroo s leg muscles spring when the kangaroo makes impact with the ground. This transfer from elastic potential energy to kinetic energy saves the kangaroo from using unnecessary energy to cover large distances. (As seen in figure 1) The female kangaroo s efficient breeding cycle also assists them in surviving the harsh environment. They have the ability, when pregnant, to put the growth of the embryo on hold until external conditions improve. This increases the chances of the young surviving. In times of drought, many kangaroos will die but when conditions are good female kangaroos can have three young ones with them at the same time: one as an embryo (not yet born), one in the pouch attached to a teat and one outside the pouch but still drinking the mother s milk. This extreme breeding cycle is a huge physiological adaptation that has allowed the kangaroo to reproduce. A physiological adaptations of the red kangaroos is that they ... • 8. The Theory Of Leonardo Da Vinci s Multiple Intelligence... Gardner s Multiple Intelligence theory challenged traditional beliefs in the field of education and cognitive science. He is a psychologist professor at Harvard University s Graduate School of Education. According to a traditional definition, intelligence is a uniform cognitive capacity people are born with. Simply put, intelligence is the ability to acquire and apply knowledge and skills. Gardner s theory of Multiple Intelligences proposes that all human beings possess each of the nine intelligences in varying amounts. In addition, he claims that these intelligences are located in different parts of the brain which can work together or independent of each other, and that the multiple intelligences can be strengthened or weakened depending how you treat each intelligence. The nine intelligences are as follows: Visual/Spatial People who are strong visually/spatially learn best when they are given material that is organized spatially. They like to have physical models or to see what is being taught to understand. They enjoy anything eye catching like charts, graphs, maps, tables, illustrations, art, or puzzles. A man that immediately comes to mind that shows exceptional visual/spatial intelligence is Leonardo Da Vinci (1452 1519), who not only was a great artist who created pieces such as the Mona Lisa and The Last Supper, but also studied the anatomy of the human body. He sketched detailed diagrams of parts of the body such as the brain, parts of the skeleton, and even ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Previous studies show that CFS method increases accuracy for CART algorithm although not as much as the C4.5 algorithm does (Doraisamy et al., 2008). CFS uses a search algorithm and feature evaluation algorithm which uses a heuristic that measures goodness of attributes subsets. Hall and Smith (1998) define this goodness heuristic as Good feature subsets contain features highly correlated with the class, yet uncorrelated with each other. Equation 1 below shows heuristic formula. G_x=(k¯(r_ci ))/√(k+k(k 1)¯(r_ii )) Where G_x is the heuristic of goodness of an attribute subset x that contains k features, ¯(r_ci ) is average attribute class correlation which points predictive power of the attribute subset to a class, and ¯(r_ii ) is average attribute inter correlation that indicates the redundancy among attributes. A version of correlation based attribute selection to be included in experiment setup is called Fast Correlation Based Feature Selection (FCBF) that initially developed by Yu and Liu (2004). All of my family lives less than fifteen minutes away from me, but sometimes we all get so caught up in our own lives that we forget how important it is to spend time with each other. Some of my best memories of the lake aren t even about the lake, but instead the memories ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. Understanding Piaget Theory And Information Processing Theory The study of Cognitive theories has many different aspects that have been debated many years ago. Developmental psychologists try to explain cognitive development approaches which describe the process of human s thought. One of the developmental psychologist who studied on the area of cognitive was Jean Piaget. Jean Piaget a Swiss psychologist was the first developmental researcher who has extensive research on cognitive development. In addition, the revolution of Jean Piaget s cognitive theory has changed the development psychology forever. In fact, although this theory is one of the most influential theories that have had a major impact on child s cognitive development, many developmental psychologist has been criticized it as well(Miller,2007). Therefore, the limitations of this theory made the developmental psychologists thinking of information processing theory might complete Piaget s Theory(Miller,2007). Information processing theory is another theory that was engaged in the era of cognitive development. It is possible to better understand Piaget theory and Information Processing theory by comparing several important aspects of developmental psychology: nature of humans, quantitative or qualitative, and nature or nurture. Piaget Cognitive Theory To begin with, Piaget s cognitive theory has four stages. According to Miller,2011 she states that Piaget described each stage and referred them to the ability of human understanding. First stage is the sensorimotor stage ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. Gay Marriage Research Paper In today s society, there are many stereotypical people that are against gay or lesbian marriage. Everyone should have the right to decide on who they would like to marry. Gay marriage should be legal and a non punishable offense because it can prevent teenage suicides, more children will be adopted, and people will not feel like second class citizens. If humanity were to accept gay marriage, it would lower and prevent some teen suicides. Most teens are deciding and revealing what path they are going to take in middle and high school. The number of suicide attempts among high school students decreased in states where same sex marriage was legal. The findings covered thirty two states that legalized same sex marriage from 1999 to 2015 (Willingham). All kids have a difficult time coming out to the world, and it causes them not to feel heard or accepted. When states make it legal more people that do not support it change their views when they see it is not different from a ordinary couple. Many teens also feel less accepted by the world when it comes to other kids in their school. Students that do not support others orientation creates a discomforting environment. Unsafe school environments prevent LGBT students from reaching their full academic potential (Slater). The children have to feel heard or they will fall into a depression and will shut out everyone that cares about them. Therefore, safe spaces for LGBT students ( LGBT Youth ) Which will allow kids to have a safe ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. Juvenile Offenders And The Adult Courts For Trial Tennessee, like many other states, has provisions, provided for in the state laws, for the transfer of juvenile offenders to the adult courts for trial. The youth court has to follow the procedures, which are outlined in the statute, to include the minimum age of a juvenile, who is to be transferred to the adult courts, and the specific crimes for which such a transfer may take place. While I recognize, as the United States Supreme Court did in Roper v. Simmons, (2005), that children are immature, and easily led astray, there are times when the protection of the community mandates that certain juveniles be treated as adults. This should be done on a case by case basis, and only for the most heinous and violent crimes. In the state ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This statute also provides for the juvenile having reached their sixteenth birthday, at the time the crime was committed, except in the cases of first and second degree murder, aggravated rape, kidnapping, aggravated kidnapping, rape of a child, or an attempt to commit such crimes (Tenn. Code, 2010). In cases of this nature, Tennessee law does not provide for a minimum age for the juvenile to be transferred to the adult courts. What this means is that technically, a child of any age, who commits such violent crimes, can be tried as an adult if the youth court decides to transfer the case. Consequently, this statute also provides provisions for the housing of such juvenile offenders in the adult correctional facilities. In subsections 2(h) through 2(j) of Tenn. Code, section 37 1 134, (2010), mandates that if juveniles have been transferred to the adult courts, and is between 16 and 18 years of age, they are to be detained in an adult correctional facility, but kept separate from adult offenders, if possible. Upon their conviction, and sentencing, juveniles between 16 and 18 years of age can be sent to adult prisons, and kept separate from adult offenders, at the discretion of the corrections commissioner. All juveniles, under the age of 16, who have been transferred to the adult courts, and subsequently convicted, are to be housed in a juvenile detention facility until their sixteenth ... • 32. I Am An Average Man And A Presumed Widower Under The Rug This is the start of my journal. I am an average man and a presumed widower. I work as a passport inspector at the East Nary Checkpoint. I applied for this journal to express my thoughts with someone, my wife was deported a few days ago, marked as a political dissident. It s a somber fact that my future children will grow up living without their father, one that I wish to overlook and forget these next few days. The work I do at the checkpoint is tedious and arduous. It was opened up by some arbitrary measures through international pressure I believe, at least the pay is good. My process of verification first starts with checking the passports for: issuing cities, province, legal name, photo evidence, and gender. The next ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While on a break before the last train departure at 5:30 I was reading the paper. Tensions between the East and the West are continuing to boil, as a result the only existing border could be closed down until diplomatic ambassadors came to a compromise. There are few political articles in the news. Most of it is international news, we don t know much about what happens here. Whether it s from the general lack of interest that s associated with the bureaucratic autocracy or just apathy. Though much is known about history, the library has produced large volumes and accounts that are available to the public. One of my favorite books, out of fear or fascination, is the encyclopedia of the last century. The age of individuality and an idea called the profit motive . That s the history of the old world. Maybe these journals will offer solace to me. I m determined to write these however, it s becoming something that I look forward to after arriving in my solid grey apartment the only time in a day. Day 4 Signing off 2/6/47 International News There was a terror attack on the train shortly before it arrived at the station. A suicide bomber wearing a heavy explosives vest showing her protest against the border I suppose. I didn t read the report though. As was expected the government led the civilians to safety and I was sent home early, with a few bucks to compensate my lack of pay. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. The Effects Of The Detroit Race Riot Of 1967 The Detroit race riot of 1967 was one the most destructive and violent riots of the 159 race riots that occurred during the Long Hot Summer. For five straight days civilians fought the police, resulting in 43 deaths, 1,189 injuries, 7,200 arrests, and over 2,500 lootings. Fifty years later there are still visible results of the riot, and the event remains a source of reflection for Detroit citizens. Asides from the building damage and violence, the riots affected various aspects of Detroit s culture, including the Motown enterprise, which was producing chart topping music that influenced listeners across the globe. As a genre of music that was known as The Sound of Young America in the 1960s, studying the Motown sound before and after the riots can provide insight into Detroit citizens mindset. Between 1964 and 1967 Motown recorded sixty top fifteen pop chart hits, fourteen of which were number ones. But Motown s success was almost unfathomable to the music industry as a record label ran by an African American with African American musicians and producers. Berry Gordy, the founder of Motown, managed to create black music and commercialize it directly to a white American audience that was often times only willing to consume music that was at least covered by a white musician. This all occurred in the wake of the British Invasion , from 1964 to 1966, where young white Americans became drawn to male dominated guitar based groups. With Billboard s decision to combine ...
