Warm Blooded Versus Cold Blooded Dinosaurs Essay
Warm Blooded Versus Cold Blooded Dinosaurs
At a time, scientists believed all dinosaurs were cold blooded. However, with a recent discovery of a
dinosaur found with a fossilized heart in the northern part of South Dakota in 1993, many
paleontologists are starting to think that there were some dinosaurs that were warm blooded.
Dinosaurs were first believed to be cold blooded because they were thought to be related closely to
reptiles which are cold blooded creatures. Cold blooded animals don t actually have cold blood,
instead they rely on the temperature from their environment to regulate their own body temperature.
They do this by taking advantage of external heat by basking in the sun, and by lying ... Show more

Because warm blooded animals don t have to rely on their environment for body temperature, they are
able to hunt at any time of the day or in any season, which is a great advantage over cold blooded
animals. Therefore this type of intense activity needs a fast metabolism which is much too high for a
cold blooded animal. Secondly, cold blooded animals have a hard time living in cold climates and
dinosaur fossils have been found in the colder environments (Eschberger). However, scientists believe
warm blooded animals would have suffered from the heat in warmer climates, where many fossils
have been discovered. Beverly Eschberger discusses how dinosaurs must have been only warm
blooded animals due to the factors of, bone structure, and histology, growth rates, predator to prey
ratios, speed and agility, rate of evolution, similarities with birds, and insulation. She also explains the
disadvantages of being a warm blooded animal: a much larger expenditure of energy to maintain
elevated metabolism and a commensurate increase in food requirements (Eschberger). Just as the
conclusion that dinosaurs were truly warm blooded becomes clearer, factors from the cold blooded
side switch everything around. Gigantothermy, rate of food supply, respiratory turbinates and lung
structure all cause scientists to believe dinosaurs were in fact cold blooded. There have been many
attempts to find the real resolution of whether or not dinosaurs were warm or cold

Essay about Crime
Crime
In general the definition of a crime is an act punishable by law, usually considered an evil act. Crime
refers to many types of misconduct forbidden by law. Crimes include such things as murder, stealing a
car, resisting arrest, possession or dealing of illegal drugs, being nude in public , drunk driving, and
bank robbery. Crime is an act that has been timeless and has been committed practically since the start
of time. For example, ever since Cain killed his brother Abel (B.C.), people being charged with
witchcraft in the 1600 s, prostitution, to the current crimes of modern day(A.D.). Even though crime
has existed throughout time it has progressed and branched out taking many types forms. ... Show

Crimes are frequently classified according to their seriousness as felonies or misdemeanors. Generally,
felonies are more serious than misdemeanors. Under the federal criminal law system, felonies are
crimes for which the punishment is death or imprisonment for more than a year. A misdemeanor is
punishable by a fine or by imprisonment for less than a year. In most states persons convicted of
felonies are sent to state prisons, while those guilty of misdemeanors serve their sentence in city, or
county jails, or correction houses.
Crimes against people include assault, kidnapping, murder, and sexual attacks. Such crimes usually
bring severe punishments. Crimes against property include arson, automobile theft, burglary,
embezzlement, forgery, fraud, larceny, and vandalism. In most cases, these crimes carry lighter
penalties than the crimes set against the person. Robbery is the crime most difficult to classify. The
law considers robbery a crime against the person or against the property, according to the case.
Robbery may involve simply stealing property from another person, but when a personal encounter
occurs between the robber and his victim, it may include violence and bodily harm. This usually
occurs during muggings or other strong arm robberies.

Holistic Treatment
Whether it s yourself that s become addicted or you re family and friends of the patient, it can be

What Is The Theme Of Everyday Use By Alice Walker
The story Everyday Use by Alice Walker I believe the theme to be, To know and understand your
Heritage. When the daughter Dee comes back home to visit she has changed her name and is now
involved deeply in the African Culture. Her mother is appalled as she named Dee after her
grandmother and aunt, Dicie (Abcarian, Cohen Klotx, 2012, pg. 589). The name change is best
described in the story when Dee states No, Mama, she says. Not Dee Wangero Leewanika Kemanjo!
(Abcarian, Cohen Klotx, 2012, pg. 589). As the story goes on Wangero seems excited about the old
things in the house that she once hated or believed to be old such as, the benches for the table that her
father made and the churn made by her Uncle (Abcarian, Cohen Klotx, 2012,

The Characteristics Of Great Leaders
What separates leaders, especially mediocre ones from the great ones? What are the attributes and
behaviors that great leaders display in order to influence people, to follow them and change the world?
Great leaders are effective when they are trustworthy, empower others, and connect with their
followers or the people they influence. Trust is the foundation of any great leader. 1) When Richard
Nixon lost the trust of the American people he knew another bid for the Presidency was over.In the
process, Nixon lost his identity as a leader and subsequently the respect and trust of the American
people whom he had worked so diligently to gain. He and many other leaders like him attempted to
isolate himself from the people of which he lead instinctively going into survival mode; denying the
ultimate truth that success as a leader is impossible if attempted to go it alone. 2) Before Steve Jobs
came back for his second amazing round at Apple, he lost the trust of the executives and John Sculley
a power struggle ensued amongst them and Jobs was ousted from the very company he created. In the
spring of 1985 Apple s board sided with the CEO, removing Jobs from his command of the Macintosh
group. Trust is the foundation of every great leader. Trust with followers comes from the character of
the leader. A great leader must have patience, integrity, confidence, and transparency. If one can win
the trust of people, people will follow. Great leaders have the ability to solidify trust by empowering
those willing to follow them.
A great leader knows their team member s strengths and plays to these strengths by giving them task
that they know will help the individual succeed as well as the overall team.
3) John C. Maxwell in his book 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership says that, a leader must give up in
order to go up . No great leader accomplishes great things by themselves; it takes a team of people.
Great leaders in order to win with people must have personable attributes to connect with the people
following them. That isn t to say that everyone has to like the leader personally but the leader must be
able to connect with the people following. 4) A prime example can be found in the 2008 primaries
between Hillary Clinton and

Robert Frost Contributions
Robert Frost is a rare twentieth century poet, that may be the most recognized name in poetry. He won
the Pulitzer Prize a total of four times, which is more than any other poet. Some of his best work
includes: The Road Not Taken , Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening . Robert Frost was a literary
legacy. When he was 87 years old, he was asked to write and recite a poem for President John F.
Kennedys inauguration. During Robert Frosts lifetime, he received over 40 honorary degrees and of
course his four Pulitzer Prizes. Robert Frosts life was reflected in his poetry in a variety of ways.
Robert Frost was raised in New England, and many of his poems characters and settings are based in
New England. Robert Frost was also greatly influenced by emotions and events in everyday life. He
could take every day events such as: watching ice weigh down birch tree branches, the mowing of
fields of hay or even the mending of stories on a wall and perceives a deeper meaning to love, hate, or
conflict. These writing techniques lead to another reason as to why Robert Frost is so successful.
Many of his poems, such as, Mending Wall and Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening are inspired
by the natural world. In 1897, Frost began studying at Harvard. This really helped Robert Frost
become an intellectual and more of a serious poet. Unfortunately, after two years he had drop out of
school. He then became a chicken farmer, which helped familiarize him with farming and rural life.

b) Intention: i.e. where a person does a wrongful act knowing the possible consequences likely to
arise, he is said to have intended that act, and is therefore at fault. c) Recklessness: i.e. where a person
does an act without caring what its consequences might be, he is at fault. d) Negligence: i.e. where the
circumstances are such that a person ought to have foreseen consequences of his act and avoided it
altogether, he would be at fault if he bothers not. e) Motive: Motive is the ulterior objective or purpose
of doing an act and differs from intention. 3. Malfeasance, misfeasance and non feasance:

ECERS for Garnero Child Development Center
I went into this childcare center knowing that it would do rather well. Garnero Child Development
Center is very well run and Ann, the side supervisor, makes sure that everything meets standards. I
have seen her in the early mornings observing classrooms with a checklist. When I let the lead
teachers know that we would be filling the ECERS out, they knew exactly what it was and both
mentioned that they had filled them out multiple times. In the majority of the categories, they scored a
seven. I am not sure if I was just being more lenient than I should have been, but the other student
filling this out with me got the same scores as I did when we compared them afterwards.
For the Space and furnishings category, they received an average of 6.62. Out of the eight sub groups,
they received a six on indoor space, child related display, and gross motor equipment. The other five
categories all got sevens. The indoor space got a six because the windows do not open and there is not
any control over the ventilation in the room. The child related display got a six because there is not
any three dimensional work done by the children on display in the room. The gross motor equipment
got a six because there is not gross motor equipment that would stimulate skills on different levels.
There are not any tricycles without pedals, there is not both a ramp and a ladder on the climbing
structure, and there is not different sized balls available for the children to play with. I think that

Summary Of Brunelleschi s Dome
Throughout the book Brunelleschi s Dome, Filippo has to overcome others to make his ideas become
a reality. First he loses the bronze door competition to his competition Lorenzo. Then he has to fight
against the Opera del Duomo to allow his model to be used for the Dome. He continued to fight for he
designs with trying to flood Lucca, and building II Badalone, both being fails. After those fails, and
the Domes set backs, the Opera began to lose faith in Filippo, but that wouldn t stop him. He
continued to be in charge of building the Dome, and later designing the lanterns after having Antonio
steal his ideas. Filippo had a problem with communicating to others. He feared that they would steal
his ideas and claim them as their own, so he never told anyone anything. He keeps all his notes coded
and only shared the very minimal with his friends. This allowed him an upper hand above his
competition. It made it difficult for others to reproduce his work, let alone understand how he came up
with the ideas he had, making much of his work a mystery.
The authors aims were to educate the reader upon the history of the Dome and to show how it was
built, why it was an amazing feat, and why Filippo was an ingenious architecture. King achieved his
aims very well. Through out the book, he expressed the importance of Filippo and everything that he
did. King tells about how Filippo built and designed the Dome. He supported the claim that Filippo
was before his time, and that no one could duplicate his work; A proud Florentine, Michelangelo
claimed that he could equal it, Filippo s dome but never surprises it. In fact, he did not even equal it...
(Page 163)
King s writing was both fair and accurate. He seemed to have done lots of research, and written only
the facts that had been proven. When he did write anything that seemed a little exaggerated, he would
always source the statement making sure the reader knew that he was only stating what someone else
said, not the complete truth. King also shows both sides of the story. He gives all characters an equal
chance to prove themselves. As seen best with Lorenzo, King praises him first with Lorenzo s doors,
but then he expresses Lorenzo s incompetence towards the wooden

Pet Food Recall Of Pet Pets
I remember the first night the news announced the pet food recall. I jumped up and got online quickly
to make sure the food I feed my pets was not on the list. Thank goodness it wasn t. But that doesn t
mean that I don t still worry about it. I m still feeding them the same food, but I am watching my pets
very closely for any abnormal behavior at all. I m sure many pet owners are doing the same. But I did
decide I could do one thing for my dogs and that is to make them some dog biscuits myself. That way,
I know what is going into the ingredients and if anything is tainted, it will make me sick, too. Most of
the ingredients for these homemade dog biscuits are items already in my kitchen. A few years ago, my
sister had given me a dog biscuit set. I ve used it a couple of times, then put it up and forgot about it.
Now, I ve pulled it out again. The company s name is You Bake Em Dog Biscuits with P.C. Edge s

Sars Coronavirus Research Paper
SARS coronavirus (SARS CoV) currently has no cure, but with research, a possible cure and or a
vaccination can be created to prevent future outbreaks of this virus. To better understand this virus
there has been some research regarding what pathways are activated as SARS CoV is in the human
body. There are many different types of proteins that are part of this virus; with one of the most
commonly studied proteins being structural proteins and nucleocapsid proteins. Proteins are being
modified so that the virus can engage, modify and/ or disrupt the host cell signaling and nuclear
import machinery for the benefit of the virus replications, (Frieman, 2008). Proteins such as structural
proteins are being changed which also changes how the human body reacts to the virus, ... Show more

There are three different pathways that can all be activated depending on what proteins are being
activated from SARS Cov. This virus is able to interfere with the classical complement pathway due to
the proteins. Spike protein is one of the major structural proteins that is essential for the interaction of
the virons with host cell receptors and subsequent fusion of the viral envelop with host cell membrane
to allow infection (Wu, 2004). The classical pathway happens when antibodies bind with antigens,
which in this case the spike proteins are attaching to the host cell and infecting the host. The spike
proteins are able to cleave and bind to other proteins, thus making it harder for the classical pathway
to go though a smooth process when the spike proteins cleaving. Another pathway is the alternative
pathway, which can be activated without

Jesus Used Parables to Tell the Truth Abou the Kingdom of God
Jesus was famous for telling parables. Throughout his life on earth he told more than forty of them. A
parable by definition is a short allegorical story designed to illustrate or teach some truth, religious
principle, or moral lesson. (Harper) When you hear the story, you can relate it to your own life. It is
like an illustration for the points in a sermon. It conveys its message of truth through analogy, through
comparison or contrast. Jesus spoke to the people in this manner for a few distinct reasons. Parables
are told to reveal the truths about the kingdom of God. To be revealed in a manner in which only those
who truly care will come to know. By doing so Jesus was able to separate the audience into two
groups, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He was now alone with the disciples when they wanted to know why he spoke in these parables. This
passage can be confusing at first glance. It sounds like Jesus is stating that he intentionally uses
parables so that he can reach out to some and not others. At this point the crowds who came for
miracles are also full of skeptics, critics, and enemies. This group would hear his words, but then
refuse to really listen to the message. They saw great acts of power, but would refuse to believe that
Jesus is from God. The true meaning of this passage is that only those open to his teaching, would
more understanding be given, and they will have an abundance of knowledge. But to those who are
not listening, even what little understanding they have will be taken away from them. Speaking in
parables allowed Jesus to conceal the power and radical claims of his Kingdom from those who will
not believe and do not seek the truth. At same the time, his stories reveal the powerful message of God
s Kingdom to the hearts of those seeking truth and following Jesus. He could and would continue to
minister to the crowds, but no longer try to teach them because they would refuse to listen. Their
inability to penetrate to the meaning of Jesus and his mission is the result of their obstinate disbelief
and dullness of heart, as Isaiah had prophesied (13:10 15).
In the book of Mark, Jesus goes on to warn us that If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear. Consider

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Urbanization In Village By...
In the novel Village By The Sea by Anita Desai tells the problem faced in Indian villagers which can

we can get the idea of similarities and differences between city and village life.

My Papa Knultz Analysis
Battered Knuckles While the subject of My Papa s Waltz by Theodore Roethke has spurred passionate
academic debate from professors, scholars, and students alike, the imagery, syntax, and diction of the
poem clearly supports the interpretation that Roethke writes My Papa s Waltz to reflect back to his
sentimental memories with his father. In brief, Roethke leaves the audience with an unclear
understanding of what the meaning of the poem is. In discussions of My Papa s Waltz, one
controversial issue is the father casually plays with the son. On the other hand, some readers argue that
the father is abusing his son straightforwardly. However, after contemplating the context of the poem
and gathering information from the text, it has become undeniably clear that the poem is about the
father abusing his son. Ultimately, Roethke writes My Papa s Waltz to illustrate a picture of his
nostalgic remembrance for the readers. The authors controversial poem becomes clear when one
carefully examines the context of the poem. In stanza one, line one, Roethke describes the papa in the
poem as having whiskey on [his] breath. This line illuminates the idea of the father being intoxicated;
hence, can lead to a change in behavior. Further, the change in behavior can be the cause of violence
towards the child in the poem. Coincidentally, Roethke s father dies in 1923 at the age of 52; thirty
eight years later Roethke writes My Papa s Waltz, roughly at 52 years of age. The

Firearms in America In America there are two strong sides that are for and against the owning of
firearms. I will refer to the side that is for firearms as the pro gun side and antigun side for those who
oppose firearms. In this paper I will discuss how firearms affect our lives here in America. I will
inform you what a firearm is and how they are used. I will discuss whether owning a firearm is ever
morally permissible. I hope that by the end of this paper that you will be able make your own decision
on this topic and join the side that you think is right. In this paper I would like to analyze how firearm
affect our lives and if we should ban them completely or is we should only ban them a few certain
types of firearms of if ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If you do not believe me that if the government ban assault rifles that people could still get them then
just look at drugs they are illegal but people are still able to buy them and use them. One of the
antigun side arguments is that we should out outlaw all assault rifles because they are automatic
therefore they are too dangerous and could end up in the wrong hands. Pro gun side say that if we start
banning all assault rifles when does it stop next we will be banning pistols because they are automatic.
The pro gun side is using the slippery slope agreement stating that by banning one set of guns will
eventually ban all guns. The antigun side making a benefits argument stating that if these guns were
banned they could not end up in the wrong and less massacres would happen. The pro gun side argues
that the second amendment states that we have the right to bear arms. That if we were to ban guns that
we would infringe our rights. The antigun gun side claims that by having limiting guns will not
infringe on anyone s right that it will only make our lives safer. They also say that assault rifles do not
belong in civilian hands, that they belong only on the battlefields. These two arguments go back and
forth all the time. This is mainly between republicans and democrats, both trying to gain some
political advantage. I think

Hunting and Wildlife Conservation Go Hand in Hand Essay
It s a brisk November morning like any other day, but today isn t any other day, today is the first day
of firearm deer season. Shots are going off everywhere like world war three declared on deer. I m
wrapped in every hunting garment I own but winters cold embrace always finds its way in. My cheeks
are rosy red and my breath was thick in the air. As I raise my shotgun and pull the trigger, my heart
races and my hands shake. As I race after my prize, the sounds of leaves crunching beneath my feet
are muffled by the ringing in my ears. I m walking face to the ground like a hound on a trail and then
my eyes caught it, my very first whitetail. I will never forget my first deer and the joy I felt sharing it
with my family. Hunting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Do not leave gates open or mess with livestock. Leave everything as it was or how the farmer tells you
to leave it. When you are hunting deer with a firearm or your just in the woods during firearm season
you must wear blaze orange . Deer hunters can only harvest two bucks a year and as many does they
want as long as they have tags. If the buck has antlers three inches or less you can stick a doe tag on it
(Dnr.Illinois.gov). In some rare occasions does can have antlers and if harvested one must put a buck
tag on the deer, if its antlers are bigger than three inches. Albino deer cannot be shot, but pieball deer
can. In Illinois you can use a pistol, muzzleloader, shotgun, bow or crossbow to take down a whitetail.
All of them have certain calibers and weight that are legal to shoot a deer with. A pistol needs to be at
least a .38 caliber. A shotgun can t be smaller than a 20 gauge and use a slug. An archer must be
pulling a weight of forty pounds at least to shoot a deer. There is no deer rifle hunting in Illinois. A
hunter should be a certain distance away from a road or a highway (Dnr.Illinois.gov). Another way to
learn is to go hunting with a avid hunter or outdoorsman that s had experience. Hunting safety in
general is mostly common sense. When taking your hunters safety course it will teach you and show
you the does and don ts of hunting. A good hunter is a safe, legal, and moral hunter who knows what

Smallpox Vaccine
Smallpox is a highly contagious viral disease that was eradicated in 1980 (Mucker et al., 2013).
Before eradication, smallpox was endemic in many tropical countries in the past 40 years. The success
of the eradication was cultivated by intensified immunization, case control and active surveillance by
World health organization with support from all nations. The only remaining wild Variola major
viruses are under two top security WHO research laboratories as the threat of bio terrorism remains
real(W.H.O., 2015).
Smallpox is caused by variola virus of Poxviridae family (which is a dsDNA with replication taking
place in the cytoplasm) subfamily Chordopoxvirinae, and Orthopoxvirus genus(Dimmock, Easton,
Leppard, 2014). The variola virus was the major cause of the past smallpox outbreaks. It is believed

A characteristic macular papular rash presents, initially as small spots on the tongue and in the mouth.
The rash develops to pustular and forms a scab when resolving.
Management
The introduction of smallpox vaccine drastically decreased the incidence(Dr Hunt, n.d.). The vaccine
is 95% effective although not used routinely due to heightened safety concerns. From World Health
Organization estimated 15 million people contracted smallpox each year before 1967, and the fatality
rate was more that 2 million. For unvaccinated individuals, the mortality rate stands at approximately
30%. The highest morbidity and mortality presents in immunocompromised population such as young
children, pregnant women and elderly individuals.
Monkeypox and cowpox are also orthopoxviruses that infect human beings with considerable health
threats(Di Giulio Eckburg, 2004).
Smallpox is contagious at the onset of fever, but most contagious when the rashes appear. The infected
person will remain contagious until the last scab falls

Andersonville Prison Research Paper
Andersonville Prison epitomized the ultimate crime against humanity. The atrocities that transpired in
this confederate prison sparked reaction and outrage at the conclusion of the Civil War. During the
American Civil War, a prisoner of war was a person who was captured and imprisoned by the enemy.
Both the Union and the Confederates had to deal with such matters of prisoners of war. According to
Gabor S. Boritt, both the North and the South each had approximately 30 prison camps that held about
194,000 Union soldiers and about 214,000 Confederate soldiers during the Civil War. (Boritt 1989)
Andersonville was a confederate camp that had a reputation of being one of the worst prison camps of
the Civil War. Its conditions were unnaturally bad ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Prison life in Andersonville was considerably worse than the average prison which is why it is
considered the worst of the Civil War prison camps. Other prison camps of the time although were a
rough life, had better infrastructure, supplies and cleanliness. For example in Salisbury, North
Carolina was one of the first Confederate civil War prison camps. Its first prisoners enjoyed playing
baseball in their free time. Although the prison did experience overcrowding like all prison war camps,
it still had much better supply flow into its walls. Alton, Illinois Federal prison was one of the first
Union prison camps. This camp did experience a lack of supplies and disease but had enough space
that prisoners did not have to live in the elements. Andersonville had a large flaw in it making that
made it a much worse prison camp to stay in rather than these other two. That flaw was that
Andersonville was made in great haste and wasn t even finished before it was in use. (Civil War

Erik Erikson s Theory Of Development
Susan is a sixty seven year old woman. She worked in human resources for a significant portion of her
life, however, in her later middle adult life decided to return to school to study to be a registered nurse
(RN). This was tough for Susan considering she was a mother of five her eldest being in her late
twenties and her youngest in elementary school. When asked to reminisce over her life, Susan had
numerous interesting stories from her life and shared much wisdom. If one analyzes Susan s lifespan
interview using Erikson s theory, they will realize that she has always been conquering developmental
conflict at each life stage. Before analyzing Susan s life, when one looks closely at Erik Erikson s
theory, there are eight stages of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this developmental stage adults face generativity versus stagnation. In the last developmental stage,
late adulthood, people encounter an integrity versus despair crisis (Coon Mitterer, 2015, p. 123 126).
In addition, each stage has a virtue that is accomplished after the crisis has been resolved. This was
just an overview to Erikson s developmental theory, however, it greatly assists the analyzation of
Susan s life. To begin, this paper will not examine at the trust versus mistrust stage considering Susan
cannot recollect being an infant. Therefore, beginning at the early childhood stage, Susan felt
extremely self sufficient compared to her younger siblings; she remembers having bathroom accidents
and incidents of bed wetting. Nevertheless, she remembers seeking her mother out and asking for
assistance in the cleanup. Therefore, Susan clearly achieved autonomy over shame and doubt. The
virtue earned here was will she was willing to seek support and admit wrongdoing. The subsequent
stage is the middle childhood stage; this age is characterized by children being playful and
commencement school. At this period, the crisis is initiative versus guilt. Susan showed initiative and
made exceptional grades in preschool and elementary school and as stated previously she showed
early signs of mastering appropriate times to be guilty. She was ambitious and determined to do
outstanding in school and was remorseful when she did

The World Of Graphic Design
The world of Graphic Design has been revolutionized time and time again with many artists setting
high standards for aspiring graphic designers. Two artists who are interesting and innovative in their
own ways are graphic designers Chipp Kidd and Jennifer Morla. Kidd has created many design
successes with some of his most famous book jackets being Jurassic Park, Naked by Davis Sedaris
and All the Pretty Horses. The designs of the books are all drastically diverse, making it difficult to
pinpoint the designs to one single artist. However dissimilar the designs are, they have two things in
common; they are innovative and perfectly reflect the content of the pages between the covers.
Jennifer Morla is an artist with a differing career from Kidd. She focuses on branding of companies
rather than book jackets. She has worked with companies such as Levi s, Apple Computer, Design
Within Reach, Wells Fargo, Herman Miller to help form a clean brand for the companies. I am
researching the histories of both Chipp Kidd and Jennifer Morla because they are both trailblazers in
the Graphic Design world and have come from drastically different backgrounds. Their histories and
accomplishments can have a great impact on aspiring graphic designers.
To begin, we will take a trip back in time to the summer of 1964. This was the time when perhaps the
most recognizable book cover designer, Chip Kidd, was born. He grew up in a small town in
Pennsylvania and his infatuation for pop culture and

Archetypes In Little Miss Sunshine
The movie Little Miss Sunshine showcases six different archetypes commonly found in road trip
movies. Each of the archetypes are completely different from each together and help each other in all
of their toughest moments. Olive in the movie Little Miss Sunshine falls under the maiden archetype
due to her childlike demure.
Olive at the Little Miss Sunshine beauty pageant really shows how much of a maiden she really by
showing how no matter how fierce the competition is compared to her Olive still has no idea that the
audience will not react well to her performance; looking through rose colored glasses (Schmidt 90).
The film goes out of its way to represent how out of place the Hoover family really is such as in the
scene where all the girls are lined up dipped in sparkles with smiles from ear to ear as a creep is
singing them the national anthem, Olive is the only one that finds this weird and even with that Olive
is still confidence she will win. Before she is even performing her Father wants to shelter her from

A Portrait Of The Artist As A Young Man
In the class reading of A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, we analyzed the life of Stephen
Dedalus in relation to his family and to women, and the varying roles they play. From his point of
view, we watched the shifting dynamic in his family and his struggles with relationships with the rest
of the people around him. Analyzing Stephen s coming of age from such a perspective, that of a
virtual stranger, shaped the conclusions that were drawn as well as the life events that were deemed
significant. This observation of Stephen s growth, as an outsider looking in, created a barrier of sorts
between his life and our interpretations, which skewed our analysis to be less considerate of other
aspects of Stephen s character or the events that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His father told him that story: his father looked at him through a glass: he has a hairy face...His mother
had a nicer smell than his father (Joyce 3). Despite the lack of cohesion and the erratic turn of thought
it is easy to determine that Stephen is extremely interested in his father, who he describes in detail;
however, his relationship with his mother is more ambiguous as she is only described in comparison to
Stephen s father.
Joyce further reveals Stephen s views on his female counterparts in relation to himself with his
innocent comment regarding his neighbor, Eileen Vance.
When they were grown up he was going to marry Eileen (Joyce 4). Even at this young age Stephen
has a somewhat of a grasp on the roles of men and women in his life. Women are an almost abstract
concept to Stephen for much of his youth. He is more aware of the idea of women then their actual
self, and this carries into his life as a young adult. Reading this particular part of the book as Stephen s
friend, we would no doubt have the same child like views. In fact, as his friend we would see more of
his feelings and be privy to more of his thoughts regarding his father, mother, and Eileen.
Politics are another determining factor in Stephen s growth as a young man. One of the most
prominent exhibitions of the turmoil of politics played out on Stephen s

The Effects Of Energy Drinks On The Human Body
The effects of energy drinks once poured in the human body Once you consume an energy drink your
whole body is affected including you brain, your bloodstream, your heart, and your skin. Energy
drinks are really bad for you if you drink it a lot; they say it could affect how you work out because
energy drinks lead to sugar crashes. You don t want to work out and in the middle of your work out,
you get tired all of the sudden, if you drink one after you work out you would just get tired and you
will start to crash. My opinion you should not drink energy drinks at all while working out. The things
they put in it, it s just not worth drinking it during your work out There are a lot of effects energy
drinks can do to your brain, for example Fox health says Caffeine blocks the effects of adenosine. A
brain chemical that helps you sleep (which is why too much can lead to insomnia)now, think about it
your sleep is affected, if you drink a lot of energy drinks it will mess up your sleeping habits. Most
people drink it when they work nights to allow them to stay up. Most energy drinks are not FDA
approved that means ta it s not healthy to drink it. It also if you chug one of them you could get
hospitalized because all that sugar poured in the body and all the ingredients that is cause you to stay
up and keep you going that is not good for you. My opinion is people don t know what they are
putting in there body. It can affect you brain they can affect what you thing if

The Psychology s Credibility And Usefulness
Introduction The general public has doubts about the psychology s credibility and usefulness
(Lilienfeld, 2012). These misconceptions have been tied to possible sources of skepticism such as
illusions of understanding, psychology s problematic public face, and individual s hindsight bias
(Lilienfeld, 2012). This skepticism must exist for a reason and it is crucial to understand why the
general public finds behavioral science research less credible than that of other scientific disciplines
often described as harder sciences.
Methodology biases in research do occur, which can make individuals question scientific evidence s
credibility, but critical analysis of these method biases has been repeatedly assessed to identify
frameworks that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Political identification can be used to create an in group out group affect that motivates individuals to
believe or disbelieve scientific evidence. If psychological methods appeared more technology based,
similar to those perceived in hard neurosciences, individuals might form their assumptions about the
scientific evidence to reflect these biases, when motivated by a strongly held political identity. Further
investigating individual s biases towards perceptions of behavioral scientific evidence could provide a
better understanding of how information can be presented to the general public. In the present study, it
is hypothesized that biases of evidence quality for psychological methods will reveal the high tech
behavioral science evidence condition will be of similar higher quality compared to the neuroscience
evidence condition. In addition, participants that are motivated by their political party identification
strength will judge the low tech behavioral science condition the least favorably. This paper will
review theories of cognitive dissonance and social identity that along with motivated reasoning
evaluate decision making towards biases, examine the hard versus soft science debate, understand the
pubic skepticism that exists within the field of psychology, further address implications of
neuroscience s perceived credibility, and follow up with recent research that assesses biases towards
quality of evidence that can

Medical Ethics Of The Doctor Patient Relationship
You may not control life s circumstances, but getting to be the author of your life means getting to
control what you do with them (Atul Gawande). This quote, from renowned surgeon and essayist, Atul
Gawande, expresses an important idea in medical ethics: patients possess a certain level of autonomy
in the doctor patient relationship, and this autonomy needs to be respected by medical professionals.
Ethically speaking, physicians owe their patients full disclosure about their diagnoses, treatment
options, and any potential medical risks. Patients have the inherent right to know all aspects of their
illness or malady, and it is not up to physicians to decide which information should be withheld from
patients. Withholding information from patients breaks down any trust that may have existed within
the physician patient relationship, and thus leads to an overall patient dissatisfaction towards the
healthcare system.
In any patient physician relationship, one of the most essential components is the element of trust. One
patient remarks on the importance of trust by saying, We trust them not to use that expertise to exploit
our vulnerability for their own interests...and we trust them to empower and enable us to place their
recommendations into the full context of our own hierarchy of values (Pellegrino, Thomasma 1993).
This patient is accurately describing trust in the context of the consumer model or patient autonomy
model of a doctor patient relationship doctors provide

Rhetorical Analysis Of Renewal
Pagans are addressed directly once again and summoned to join the banquet of Christ who calls them
back to light. The language of renewal is noteworthy here, especially because it presupposes the
building up and restoration of what is already there. Pagans maintain a sense of dignity and are not
equated with the demonic. The image of an invitation to a banquet where food of salvation and a cup
of immortality is offered is also different from the images of remedying diseased patients through
cautery and knife. Where the medical analogy conjures a paternalistic image of forcing out evil from
within someone by any means necessay, the invitation to a banquet images a welcoming of the other
to come into one s own space. The image is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Reject at last such ruinous madness. Rather than being worshipped as if it were a god, which robs it of
its dignity, the sun prefers to live out its purpose as part of the created order, simply to usher in the
day. Firmicus then has the sun close the speech to the pagans with something like an altar call:
I frankly show myself as just what I am, and I want you to understand of me nothing else but what you
see. This is what pleases God, this is what He gladly welcomes, this is what leads you human beings
to the way of salvation: that you should cast aside your errors and absorb the grace of God in
simplicity and faith.
In the sun s speech against its own worship, conversion is rendered as leaving behind false worship
and absorbing God s grace in faith. Implicit is an affirmation of the essential humanity of pagans, who
are called to the way of salvation. We could say that in casting aside their errors pagans participate in
God s exorcism. In addition, the exorcizing of errors is figured as the precondition to conversion; it is
not identical with conversion itself. The difference between exorcism as the precondition of
conversion and exorcism as conversion is that the former grants agency and dignity to the pagan as
human, while the latter over identifies the pagan as the demonic. By separating exorcism from
conversion, this theology leaves room for a positive account of conversion as a free engagement
between

History Of The Mexican-American Family
Our family history is rooted in Texas and Mexico. Discussing our family history with my parents and
relatives I have found that my grand parents and great grandparents were born and raised in Texas.
They moved back and forth between Mexico and Texas for work. Both sides of our family always
sought work and better opportunities for their families. Our families have been made up of strong men
who worked mostly as laborers. My grandfathers and great grand fathers worked in cotton fields, as
ranch hands, migrant workers known as Campesinos , Brazeros or laborers, sheered sheep and have
even been grave diggers. Working in many different manual labors in the Del Rio, Austin and Hill

wanted to have equal opportunities for all regardless of race and origin. Trying to help establish equal
opportunities for all people my great great grandfather worked to advance and promote an
organization that is still in existence today, LULAC. The fundamental beliefs of the Democratic Party
were aligned with what they were working so hard for. Looking back at some the past Presidential
elections my family has only supported the Democratic party. Some of the candidates my family
mentioned they supported were John F. Kennedy, Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton and most recently Hillary
Clinton. These candidates gained our family support because of our belief that the Democratic party
stands for helping the working class, the laborers, equality for all citizens and help to create jobs and

  • 2. Warm Blooded Versus Cold Blooded Dinosaurs Essay Warm Blooded Versus Cold Blooded Dinosaurs At a time, scientists believed all dinosaurs were cold blooded. However, with a recent discovery of a dinosaur found with a fossilized heart in the northern part of South Dakota in 1993, many paleontologists are starting to think that there were some dinosaurs that were warm blooded. Dinosaurs were first believed to be cold blooded because they were thought to be related closely to reptiles which are cold blooded creatures. Cold blooded animals don t actually have cold blood, instead they rely on the temperature from their environment to regulate their own body temperature. They do this by taking advantage of external heat by basking in the sun, and by lying ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because warm blooded animals don t have to rely on their environment for body temperature, they are able to hunt at any time of the day or in any season, which is a great advantage over cold blooded animals. Therefore this type of intense activity needs a fast metabolism which is much too high for a cold blooded animal. Secondly, cold blooded animals have a hard time living in cold climates and dinosaur fossils have been found in the colder environments (Eschberger). However, scientists believe warm blooded animals would have suffered from the heat in warmer climates, where many fossils have been discovered. Beverly Eschberger discusses how dinosaurs must have been only warm blooded animals due to the factors of, bone structure, and histology, growth rates, predator to prey ratios, speed and agility, rate of evolution, similarities with birds, and insulation. She also explains the disadvantages of being a warm blooded animal: a much larger expenditure of energy to maintain elevated metabolism and a commensurate increase in food requirements (Eschberger). Just as the conclusion that dinosaurs were truly warm blooded becomes clearer, factors from the cold blooded side switch everything around. Gigantothermy, rate of food supply, respiratory turbinates and lung structure all cause scientists to believe dinosaurs were in fact cold blooded. There have been many attempts to find the real resolution of whether or not dinosaurs were warm or cold ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Essay about Crime Crime In general the definition of a crime is an act punishable by law, usually considered an evil act. Crime refers to many types of misconduct forbidden by law. Crimes include such things as murder, stealing a car, resisting arrest, possession or dealing of illegal drugs, being nude in public , drunk driving, and bank robbery. Crime is an act that has been timeless and has been committed practically since the start of time. For example, ever since Cain killed his brother Abel (B.C.), people being charged with witchcraft in the 1600 s, prostitution, to the current crimes of modern day(A.D.). Even though crime has existed throughout time it has progressed and branched out taking many types forms. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Crimes are frequently classified according to their seriousness as felonies or misdemeanors. Generally, felonies are more serious than misdemeanors. Under the federal criminal law system, felonies are crimes for which the punishment is death or imprisonment for more than a year. A misdemeanor is punishable by a fine or by imprisonment for less than a year. In most states persons convicted of felonies are sent to state prisons, while those guilty of misdemeanors serve their sentence in city, or county jails, or correction houses. Crimes against people include assault, kidnapping, murder, and sexual attacks. Such crimes usually bring severe punishments. Crimes against property include arson, automobile theft, burglary, embezzlement, forgery, fraud, larceny, and vandalism. In most cases, these crimes carry lighter penalties than the crimes set against the person. Robbery is the crime most difficult to classify. The law considers robbery a crime against the person or against the property, according to the case. Robbery may involve simply stealing property from another person, but when a personal encounter occurs between the robber and his victim, it may include violence and bodily harm. This usually occurs during muggings or other strong arm robberies. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. The Characteristics Of Great Leaders What separates leaders, especially mediocre ones from the great ones? What are the attributes and behaviors that great leaders display in order to influence people, to follow them and change the world? Great leaders are effective when they are trustworthy, empower others, and connect with their followers or the people they influence. Trust is the foundation of any great leader. 1) When Richard Nixon lost the trust of the American people he knew another bid for the Presidency was over.In the process, Nixon lost his identity as a leader and subsequently the respect and trust of the American people whom he had worked so diligently to gain. He and many other leaders like him attempted to isolate himself from the people of which he lead instinctively going into survival mode; denying the ultimate truth that success as a leader is impossible if attempted to go it alone. 2) Before Steve Jobs came back for his second amazing round at Apple, he lost the trust of the executives and John Sculley a power struggle ensued amongst them and Jobs was ousted from the very company he created. In the spring of 1985 Apple s board sided with the CEO, removing Jobs from his command of the Macintosh group. Trust is the foundation of every great leader. Trust with followers comes from the character of the leader. A great leader must have patience, integrity, confidence, and transparency. If one can win the trust of people, people will follow. Great leaders have the ability to solidify trust by empowering those willing to follow them. A great leader knows their team member s strengths and plays to these strengths by giving them task that they know will help the individual succeed as well as the overall team. 3) John C. Maxwell in his book 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership says that, a leader must give up in order to go up . No great leader accomplishes great things by themselves; it takes a team of people. Great leaders in order to win with people must have personable attributes to connect with the people following them. That isn t to say that everyone has to like the leader personally but the leader must be able to connect with the people following. 4) A prime example can be found in the 2008 primaries between Hillary Clinton and ... • 8. Robert Frost Contributions Robert Frost is a rare twentieth century poet, that may be the most recognized name in poetry. He won the Pulitzer Prize a total of four times, which is more than any other poet. Some of his best work includes: The Road Not Taken , Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening . Robert Frost was a literary legacy. When he was 87 years old, he was asked to write and recite a poem for President John F. Kennedys inauguration. During Robert Frosts lifetime, he received over 40 honorary degrees and of course his four Pulitzer Prizes. Robert Frosts life was reflected in his poetry in a variety of ways. Robert Frost was raised in New England, and many of his poems characters and settings are based in New England. Robert Frost was also greatly influenced by emotions and events in everyday life. He could take every day events such as: watching ice weigh down birch tree branches, the mowing of fields of hay or even the mending of stories on a wall and perceives a deeper meaning to love, hate, or conflict. These writing techniques lead to another reason as to why Robert Frost is so successful. Many of his poems, such as, Mending Wall and Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening are inspired by the natural world. In 1897, Frost began studying at Harvard. This really helped Robert Frost become an intellectual and more of a serious poet. Unfortunately, after two years he had drop out of school. Garnero Child Development Center is very well run and Ann, the side supervisor, makes sure that everything meets standards. I have seen her in the early mornings observing classrooms with a checklist. When I let the lead teachers know that we would be filling the ECERS out, they knew exactly what it was and both mentioned that they had filled them out multiple times. In the majority of the categories, they scored a seven. I am not sure if I was just being more lenient than I should have been, but the other student filling this out with me got the same scores as I did when we compared them afterwards. For the Space and furnishings category, they received an average of 6.62. Out of the eight sub groups, they received a six on indoor space, child related display, and gross motor equipment. The other five categories all got sevens. The indoor space got a six because the windows do not open and there is not any control over the ventilation in the room. The child related display got a six because there is not any three dimensional work done by the children on display in the room. The gross motor equipment got a six because there is not gross motor equipment that would stimulate skills on different levels. • 13. Summary Of Brunelleschi s Dome Throughout the book Brunelleschi s Dome, Filippo has to overcome others to make his ideas become a reality. First he loses the bronze door competition to his competition Lorenzo. Then he has to fight against the Opera del Duomo to allow his model to be used for the Dome. He continued to fight for he designs with trying to flood Lucca, and building II Badalone, both being fails. After those fails, and the Domes set backs, the Opera began to lose faith in Filippo, but that wouldn t stop him. He continued to be in charge of building the Dome, and later designing the lanterns after having Antonio steal his ideas. Filippo had a problem with communicating to others. He feared that they would steal his ideas and claim them as their own, so he never told anyone anything. He keeps all his notes coded and only shared the very minimal with his friends. This allowed him an upper hand above his competition. It made it difficult for others to reproduce his work, let alone understand how he came up with the ideas he had, making much of his work a mystery. The authors aims were to educate the reader upon the history of the Dome and to show how it was built, why it was an amazing feat, and why Filippo was an ingenious architecture. King achieved his aims very well. Through out the book, he expressed the importance of Filippo and everything that he did. King tells about how Filippo built and designed the Dome. He supported the claim that Filippo was before his time, and that no one could duplicate his work; A proud Florentine, Michelangelo claimed that he could equal it, Filippo s dome but never surprises it. In fact, he did not even equal it... (Page 163) King s writing was both fair and accurate. He seemed to have done lots of research, and written only the facts that had been proven. When he did write anything that seemed a little exaggerated, he would always source the statement making sure the reader knew that he was only stating what someone else said, not the complete truth. King also shows both sides of the story. He gives all characters an equal chance to prove themselves. As seen best with Lorenzo, King praises him first with Lorenzo s doors, but then he expresses Lorenzo s incompetence towards the wooden ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Thank goodness it wasn t. But that doesn t mean that I don t still worry about it. I m still feeding them the same food, but I am watching my pets very closely for any abnormal behavior at all. I m sure many pet owners are doing the same. But I did decide I could do one thing for my dogs and that is to make them some dog biscuits myself. That way, I know what is going into the ingredients and if anything is tainted, it will make me sick, too. Most of the ingredients for these homemade dog biscuits are items already in my kitchen. To better understand this virus there has been some research regarding what pathways are activated as SARS CoV is in the human body. There are many different types of proteins that are part of this virus; with one of the most commonly studied proteins being structural proteins and nucleocapsid proteins. Proteins are being modified so that the virus can engage, modify and/ or disrupt the host cell signaling and nuclear import machinery for the benefit of the virus replications, (Frieman, 2008). There are three different pathways that can all be activated depending on what proteins are being activated from SARS Cov. Spike protein is one of the major structural proteins that is essential for the interaction of the virons with host cell receptors and subsequent fusion of the viral envelop with host cell membrane to allow infection (Wu, 2004). The classical pathway happens when antibodies bind with antigens, which in this case the spike proteins are attaching to the host cell and infecting the host. The spike proteins are able to cleave and bind to other proteins, thus making it harder for the classical pathway to go though a smooth process when the spike proteins cleaving. A parable by definition is a short allegorical story designed to illustrate or teach some truth, religious principle, or moral lesson. (Harper) When you hear the story, you can relate it to your own life. It is like an illustration for the points in a sermon. It conveys its message of truth through analogy, through comparison or contrast. Jesus spoke to the people in this manner for a few distinct reasons. At this point the crowds who came for miracles are also full of skeptics, critics, and enemies. This group would hear his words, but then refuse to really listen to the message. They saw great acts of power, but would refuse to believe that Jesus is from God. The true meaning of this passage is that only those open to his teaching, would more understanding be given, and they will have an abundance of knowledge. But to those who are not listening, even what little understanding they have will be taken away from them. Speaking in parables allowed Jesus to conceal the power and radical claims of his Kingdom from those who will not believe and do not seek the truth. At same the time, his stories reveal the powerful message of God s Kingdom to the hearts of those seeking truth and following Jesus. He could and would continue to minister to the crowds, but no longer try to teach them because they would refuse to listen. Their inability to penetrate to the meaning of Jesus and his mission is the result of their obstinate disbelief and dullness of heart, as Isaiah had prophesied (13:10 15). In the novel Village By The Sea by Anita Desai tells the problem faced in Indian villagers which can be noticed from two characters, Hari and Lila. From the book we can experience the Indian culture and their way of life through the life faced by the characters. My Papa Knultz Analysis Battered Knuckles While the subject of My Papa s Waltz by Theodore Roethke has spurred passionate academic debate from professors, scholars, and students alike, the imagery, syntax, and diction of the poem clearly supports the interpretation that Roethke writes My Papa s Waltz to reflect back to his sentimental memories with his father. In brief, Roethke leaves the audience with an unclear understanding of what the meaning of the poem is. In discussions of My Papa s Waltz, one controversial issue is the father casually plays with the son. On the other hand, some readers argue that the father is abusing his son straightforwardly. However, after contemplating the context of the poem and gathering information from the text, it has become undeniably clear that the poem is about the father abusing his son. Ultimately, Roethke writes My Papa s Waltz to illustrate a picture of his nostalgic remembrance for the readers. The authors controversial poem becomes clear when one carefully examines the context of the poem. In stanza one, line one, Roethke describes the papa in the poem as having whiskey on [his] breath. This line illuminates the idea of the father being intoxicated; hence, can lead to a change in behavior. Further, the change in behavior can be the cause of violence towards the child in the poem. Coincidentally, Roethke s father dies in 1923 at the age of 52; thirty eight years later Roethke writes My Papa s Waltz, roughly at 52 years of age. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 32. Medical Ethics Of The Doctor Patient Relationship You may not control life s circumstances, but getting to be the author of your life means getting to control what you do with them (Atul Gawande). This quote, from renowned surgeon and essayist, Atul Gawande, expresses an important idea in medical ethics: patients possess a certain level of autonomy in the doctor patient relationship, and this autonomy needs to be respected by medical professionals. Ethically speaking, physicians owe their patients full disclosure about their diagnoses, treatment options, and any potential medical risks. Patients have the inherent right to know all aspects of their illness or malady, and it is not up to physicians to decide which information should be withheld from patients. Withholding information from patients breaks down any trust that may have existed within the physician patient relationship, and thus leads to an overall patient dissatisfaction towards the healthcare system. In any patient physician relationship, one of the most essential components is the element of trust. One patient remarks on the importance of trust by saying, We trust them not to use that expertise to exploit our vulnerability for their own interests...and we trust them to empower and enable us to place their recommendations into the full context of our own hierarchy of values (Pellegrino, Thomasma 1993). This is what pleases God, this is what He gladly welcomes, this is what leads you human beings to the way of salvation: that you should cast aside your errors and absorb the grace of God in simplicity and faith. Implicit is an affirmation of the essential humanity of pagans, who are called to the way of salvation. We could say that in casting aside their errors pagans participate in God s exorcism. In addition, the exorcizing of errors is figured as the precondition to conversion; it is not identical with conversion itself. The difference between exorcism as the precondition of conversion and exorcism as conversion is that the former grants agency and dignity to the pagan as human, while the latter over identifies the pagan as the demonic.
