Writing A Case Study Essay
Writing an essay on the topic "Writing A Case Study Essay" can present both challenges and
opportunities for the writer. At first glance, it might seem paradoxical – addressing the
intricacies of composing a case study while simultaneously attempting to produce a coherent and
informative essay. However, the difficulty lies not only in the conceptualization of the content
but also in the execution of a well-structured piece that effectively conveys the essential elements
of the subject.
One of the primary challenges is striking the right balance between theoretical knowledge and
practical application. The essay should delve into the theoretical framework of case study
writing, addressing key concepts such as research design, data collection, and analysis.
Simultaneously, it needs to provide practical insights, guiding the reader through the step-by-
step process of crafting a compelling case study. Striking this equilibrium requires a thorough
understanding of the subject matter and the ability to communicate complex ideas in a
comprehensible manner.
Furthermore, a case study essay necessitates a comprehensive exploration of real-life scenarios,
demanding a meticulous approach to research and analysis. It involves dissecting specific cases,
identifying relevant patterns, and drawing meaningful conclusions. The writer must possess not
only analytical skills but also the capacity to present findings in a coherent narrative that
captivates the reader's interest.
Structural integrity is another facet that contributes to the complexity of the task. Organizing the
essay in a logical sequence while seamlessly integrating theoretical concepts, practical examples,
and critical analysis requires careful planning. The writer must ensure that each section flows
seamlessly into the next, maintaining a cohesive narrative that guides the reader through the
intricate landscape of case study writing.
Despite these challenges, crafting an essay on "Writing A Case Study Essay" can be a rewarding
endeavor. It provides an opportunity for the writer to deepen their understanding of the subject,
refine their analytical skills, and enhance their ability to communicate complex ideas. It serves as
both a learning experience and a means of sharing valuable insights with the audience.
In conclusion, tackling the intricacies of writing an essay on this particular topic demands a
blend of theoretical knowledge, practical application, analytical prowess, and structural finesse.
It is a task that requires dedication, meticulous research, and a commitment to delivering a
coherent and engaging narrative. As with any writing challenge, overcoming these hurdles
ultimately contributes to personal and academic growth.

Breast Feeding Vs. The Bottle
Breast feeding vs. The Bottle: The Decision is yours Some mothers have to give
up breastfeeding even though they want to breastfeed. To give up breastfeeding
can be a sensitive issue in a time when breastfeeding is promoted as the healthiest
for mother and child (Larsen Kronborg, 2013, p. 848). The debate over whether
breast feeding is better than bottle feeding or vice versa has been a debate for
many years. With more and more research that is continuously being developed, the
option to breast feed or bottle feed is ultimately up to the parents of the child.
Although the decision could be based on factors such as a physical incapability or
financial burdens, the end result should always be what is going to be best for the
baby. As research continues to grow, there has been proven evidence of the positive
and negative aspects that come with breast feeding and bottle feeding.
The Benefits of Breast Feeding Starting from infancy, parents have the right to make
the decisions in their new child s life, which includes breast feeding their child. Infant
nutrition is important in development and health throughout life (Klag, McNamara,
Geraghty, Keim, 2015, p. 1059) Although the process has been known to bring some
complications and many attempts, the end result has been proven to be beneficial to
not only the infant during that time but can be tracked in their life down the line.
The decision to breast feed is a decision that will not only impact the child, but can

Case Study 1: Whole Foods, Prepare a Job Structure

Professor Frederick Perry
Introduction Whole Foods is a supermarket that has several different positions that
it needs to evaluate. This paper will address the recommended titles, and levels to
be associated with this group of positions. This will help the company determine
what and how to pay its associates. It will also help the associates understand what
to expect when working at Whole Foods, what it takes to do a good job at Whole
Foods. This will also help the company determine career paths for high potential
individuals.

What departments overlap? If the job is responsible for stocking shelves, what other
responsibilities fall into that job? In any case, the largest job responsibilities have to
be considered before smaller ones and along with that, how much does each job
affect the overall profitability of the store.
Job C was the Prepared Foods Department Team Leader, the largest compensable
factors was the fact that it is responsible for profitability, expense control, buying,
compliance, as well as hiring, development and termination. Job H is responsible
for the same things, but on a much larger scale, as it is responsible for multiple
stores. This is important because it defines that the job is a job that has a large
amount of responsibilities including supervising other employees as well as other
responsibilities such as profit and loss. These must be looked at first, then, the
transactional types of responsibilities need to be broken out. Where the majority of
the time is spent, is where the overall structure of the job is defined. Looking at
these different things, gives a clear picture of what the job actually does. Then it can
be compared to other jobs within the industry to see if the company is following
industry best practices for these positions, as well as determine how the positions
should be compensated.
Evaluation of Job Descriptions
The job descriptions were lacking in a few areas. They did

Time available to finish planks for Norm Sullivan: 4.5 hours per week x 52 weeks =
234 hours (14040 minutes)
In that time he can create (with the table saw): 14040 minutes available /15 minutes
required per board = 936 planks
In that time he can create (with the router): 14040 minutes available / 14 minutes
required per board = 1002 planks.
Neither of these options is going to be sufficient to meet his production need of 1200
planks for the upcoming year.
What if he were to hire more workers? This would reduce the production time per
plank and make it likely that he would be able to reduce the production time per
board. For each worker he would be looking at $5200 per year.
His projected sales for the year:
1200 planks
10 feet each @ $6.00 per foot = $60 per plank Therefore, 1200 x 60 = $72000 His
projected profit margin = 50%
Therefore 50/100* 72000=
$36000 in profit for the year.

Filibuster Conclusion
A filibuster is a unique tool used in legislation that obstructs the progress of a bill.
This obstruction of progress can be conducted in a variety of ways, such as talking
a bill to death , or delaying long enough to completely prevent a vote on a bill.
Filibustering can be accomplished by one, or several members of the Senate. In
recent years, the act of filibustering has become increasingly unpopular amongst the
public due to the delay it causes on bill progress in the US Supreme Court, but its
initial purpose came from a more helpful standpoint. The embryonic concept of the
filibuster was created to guarantee that all opinions were heard completely regardless
of their popularity before a bill was voted on. This The filibuster
Power Of Language In The Book Thief
The Book Thief written by Markus Zusak shows how the impact on the power of
language has on Liesel Meimeger through the structure of the novel. The structure of
the novel shows the development of the character Liesel, highlighting the impact of
the power of language. In her development, she finds the ability to express herself
as well as to connect to others. Books become a comfort to her and heal her, they
help her grow strong relationships with other characters in her life. However, she
also sees the damage words have caused through Nazi propaganda, understanding that
Hitler s words have been the cause of suffering of the people in her life. Despite this,

The book s importance is explained through Death where The books meaning 1.

Liesel being illiterate, the Gravedigger s handbook holds significant meaning for
the character. Liesel has an overwhelming feeling of loss of control and acts out in
rebellion to steal the book that lay beside her brothers grave. By stealing the book,
she has a reminder of her small family and it stops her feeling defeated by her ever
changing life, which she has no control over. This idea is then reinforced with
another action of the character. Liesel then finds out that Hitler was the cause of
the suffering and loss of freedom of the people she loved and knew in her life. This
second act of rebellion takes place while Liesel visits a Nazi book burning. Liesel
soon understands that the Nazi s burnt books to brainwash citizens of

power words have, causing her to again acts rebelliously in a protest. And it was
anger and dark hatred that had fueled her desire to steal it. This passage from the
novel shows the emotions of Liesel. As a character who is unable to express herself
verbally, her actions speak for her. Liesel s desire to understand words begins to grow,
with her understanding that Nazis burn books in fear of what they may do to society.

17 Ketosteroid Test Report
Why am I having this test? The 17 ketosteroid test is a test used to help diagnose
adrenal problems, including adrenal tumors and adrenal enlargement
(hyperplasia). What is being tested? In this test, the level of the 17 ketosteroid
hormone in urine is measured. This hormone is the breakdown product of the
male sex hormone and other hormones that are released by the adrenal cortex.
What kind of sample is taken? Your urine will be collected for a 24 hour period of
time. How do I collect samples at home? You will be asked to collect and store all
of your urine for 24 hours. You will be provided with a container to store your urine.

Delight In The Iliad
According to what Edmund Burke demonstrated in his On the Sublime and the
Beautiful, 1756, two terminologies, delight and sublime , were defined. As declaring
that the self preservation would eventually lead to pain and danger, Edmund says that
people are delightful when they have a clear sense of the consequences of self
preservation, but are not affected by them; meanwhile, sublime excites the delight .
By connecting these definitions to the Homeric Hymn, I view The Iliadas the perfect
match of Edmund s interpretations. Gods in the Iliad need human beings only
because their pain and suffering can fulfill god s selfish pursuing of delight and
sublime . Gods look for delight on personal wills by intervening or not involving, and
multitudinous pains originated from god s process of pursuing sublime .
Certain gods pursue delight by harming people on their personal wills. Apollo, the
god of the sun, has been a typical reflection of how selfish all gods deal with
mortals in the Iliad. At the beginning of the story, Apollo had already swept a fatal
plague through the army men were dying and all because Agamemnon spurned
Apollo s priest (I 11 12). The entire cause of spreading the plague was that the
daughter of one of his priests was captured as spoil of winning a battle by
Agamemnon, the leader of Achaean army. By only defending his illusory reputation
and the feedback for his prayer, Apollo led Achaean innocents suffer from plagues.

Absolute Monarchy In The 17th Century Essay
Absolute Monarchy during the 17th Century During the seventeenth century, France
and England experienced many conflicts that resulted in public unrest. Absolute
monarchy was the solution to maintain order in society. Absolute monarchy allows a
king to have complete authority to rule the state by divine right. Under absolute
monarchy, the king has full power in all parts of the sate and parliament. Kings
must be in control of all power and this power must not be shared to be successful
under absolute monarchy. In France, Louis XIV was the most successful absolute
monarch due to his stature and powerful involvement in the state. In England, an
effort was made by James I to control the state via absolute monarchy, but this was
unsuccessful as the parliament in England was already too powerful. Power and the
ability to command ministers play a crucial role in the success of an absolute
monarch. To be a great monarch, one must work for the state and for the people. As
Louis XIV said, I am the state , meaning that he controls the state and without him a
state does not exist. In general an absolute monarch must be aware of all activities
that take place in the state. He shall be... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Louis XIV took hold of the country and put himself at the head of government. The
Estates General was never established, and most of the ministers and lords were
persuaded to live in Versailles, a city Louis built strictly for the union of

XIV. He prevented the establishment of large parliamentary bodies that would
challenge his power as in the case of England. Beyond this, Louis XIV had the
support from his people in France. As a result, Louis XIV pleased the people with
secure France and one that stood elite amongst other European countries like
Toyota s Production System ( Tps )
Toyota Production System As part of Toyota Global, Toyota Australia inherited
legendary Toyota Production System (TPS). TPS was created by the founder of
Toyota Motor Corporation as a set of principles that have been proven in day to day
practice over many years (Toyota Australia n.d.) TPS has three desired outcomes: To
provide the customer with the highest quality vehicles, at lowest possible cost, in a
timely manner with the shortest possible lead times. To provide members with work
satisfaction, job security and fair treatment. It gives the company flexibility to
respond to the market, achieve profit through cost reduction activities and long term
prosperity. (Toyota Australia n.d.) TPS consists of Kaizen, Just In Time (JIT), and
Jidoka. Kaizen means never stop improving. Toyota encourages its employees to not
only follow the rules, but also improve the rules to achieve highest productivity. Just
In Time means to produce necessary units in the necessary quantities at the necessary
time. Jidoka means automation with a human touch (Toyota Australia n.d.). Toyota
Australia utilises its manufacturing plant in Althona, Victoria to produce cars in five
departments. Firstly, powertrain department produces engine components. Once the
engine is finished, it is sent directly to assembly department. Secondly, Press plant

Analysis Of Euripides The Play Medea
The Greek playwright Euripides, who lived from 480 BC to 406 BC, had four
victories as a Tragedian. A third of the Big Three of tragedians, Euripides was, in his
time, less successful than both Aeschylus and Sophocles, who had 13 and 20
victories. Euripides writing was drastically different from that of the others. While
playwrights like Sophocles wrote characters the way they should be ideally, Euripides
wrote his characters truthfully and portrayed people as compassionate and cruel and
complicated as humans really are. In Medea, Euripides details the story of the play s
namesake and leads readers to question his motives as well as hers. In a society that
values its own and sees women as property, Medeademonstrates a confrontation of
prejudices and the reality of any conflict. To a Greek audience in 431 BC, Medea
might not have seemed unordinary at first. In the time of Medea, women followed
the orders of men. When Jason leaves Medea, she is supposed to quietly accept that
he does not want her. Instead, Medea exacts revenge on Jason, killing their two
children, Jason s new princess, and the princess father. She can easily be seen as
wild with passion and vengeance, driven to murderous and filicidal deeds.
However, Euripides not only makes Medea a cruel, murderous character, but also
one of much love and strength. He defies the attitude Greeks had of women. In her
article over Greek culture s influence in Medea, Susanna Federici Nebbiosi described

Welfare Recipients Drug Tested
There has been an ongoing controversy as to whether welfare recipients should have
to have drug testing done. Drug testing will ensure that recipients will not abuse the
money they re given by the government. Having people on welfare take drug test is
advantageous because it could save the system money, it would help social workers
identify children who are around drugabuse, and it would deter people from
purchasing and using illegal drugs; however, it does have a downside such as
people who are on prescription medication will show false positives, it can be an
invasion of privacy and drug testing can take hundreds and even thousands of dollars
to administer. Drug testing the people on welfareis beneficial because those who are

individuals get back on their feet not a life supply, if you need assistance the
government is willing to help but it should be temporary.Welfare is a privilege and
abusing the system ruins it for the families in need of help. The government wants

its drawbacks one of them is people who are on prescribed medication can show

wrong with that idea. (Tiriana 2) Your legal doctor can prescribe you medicine and

Asian American Roles In Film
When it comes to Hollywood and the film and media industry, they tend to review
Asia as more of a country than a continent; this is politically incorrect and
debatably offensive because of the oversimplifying label that does not reference a
specific region such as South, East, or Southeast. This generalization is seen in the
media and films where Japanese actors are hired to play Chinese roles; Chinese
actors are hired to play Korean roles and so on. Filmdirectors either assume one
cannot tell the difference because the directors cannot themselves or the directors
simply do not care who plays the role. Screen writers will create a role for someone
who is Asian American; these roles are likely to be perceived as nerds who are super
intelligent,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The background roles played by Asian in television and films are cooks at Chinese
or Korean restaurants, laundry and dry cleaning workers, or involved with gangs
and martial artists. These representations are seen in movies such as Sixteen
Candles where the Chinese foreign exchange student is played by a Japanese
actor, whose character is subdued, awkward, out of place, nerdy and being
exploited by his host family by doing dishes and laundry (Vasan 2014). Law and
Order, Fresh off The Boat, The Mick and The Pitch, to name a few, still play to some
of the stereotypes that are associated with Asians. The biggest concern with Asians in
media is the lack of representation they have. Roles that a designated for Asian are
being whitewashed thus furthering the perceptions and judgments about Asian
Americans, which are largely aligned with the media representations, and these
stereotypes impact people s intent to interact with Asians (Zang 2010).
Whitewashing roles means a character that is known to be of Asian descent or Asian
is played by a white actors and/or
Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging
Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging Functional cardiac magnetic resonance
imaging (MRI) is a diagnostic imaging modality that uses magnetic resonance
imaging to assess cardiac function (5). Cine studies can reconstruct images across
several phases of the cardiac cycle. This method of MRI can measure left ventricular
volume, ejection fraction, myocardial contraction, and strain rate (10). MRI has the
ability to provide information on left ventricular function as well as regional
profusion simultaneously (11). The new MRI techniques can also evaluate
angiogenesis and myocardial viability. This has proven to be a valuable tool in
diagnosing many heartconditions such as myocarditis, amyloidosis, and restrictive
cardiomyopathy. Technology... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
MRI does not expose the patient to radiopharmaceuticals, which gives cardiac MRI
an advantage over nuclear medicine (13). MRI also has better resolution than
nuclear medicine. The excellent contrast resolution of MRI produces a well defined
endocardial border (7). MRI does not have the problem of limited acoustic windows
that sometimes inhibits echocardiographic imaging. Although MRI is a reliable
modality for cardiac imaging, there are some limitations to consider with this
modality. MRI is contraindicated for patients implanted devices such as pacemakers
or defibrillators. As with MUGA and SPECT studies, cardiac MRI is not as accurate
in patients with cardiac arrhythmias. When calculating ejection fraction with MRI, it
is necessary for the patient hold their breath. This means poor image quality for
studies done on patients who cannot hold their breath. In addition to this, any
variation in the level of inspiration will affect the accuracy of ejection fraction
calculations
Sacrifice In Christina Rossetti s Goblin Market
There is a sort of shining moment, when a woman saves her own sister, to teach a
lesson of self sacrifice to avoid another woman falling from chastely grace. Christina
Rossetti s Goblin Market a supposed pedagogical poem brimming with biblical
connotations and blatant sexual imagery displays the publicly, marketed sphere and
the privately, restrained sphere situated among the genders of middle class Victorian
England. With the height of markets and bazaars, Goblin Marketcasts a dark cloud
over the enticing act of buying merchandise. Lizzie warns her little sister from the
lecherous goblinmen, who preys on young women to buy their fruits; we must not
buy their fruits: who knows upon what soil they fed (Abrams 1497). Presenting the...

Having been exposed to these transgressive ideals from the market place, Laura
develops an intense appetite and puts herself at risk of dying. Appointing the
social and moral codes, Lizzie cautions her sister on the repercussions of adhering
to the goblin men cries. Do you not remember Jeanie, Lizzie asks her sister; a girl
who was under the same spell as Laura, who eventually dies (Abrams 1499). This

Analysis Of Paul Cezanne s The Large Bathers
The Large Bathers, 1898 1905 is the largest of Paul Cezanne s pictures and has
been cited as an example of his ideal of composition and his restoration of classic
monumentality after its lapse during the nineteenth century. CГ©zanne s great
achievement forced the young Picasso, Matisse, and many other artists to contend
with the implications of CГ©zanne s art. This essay will discuss how both Matisse s
Bonheur de Vivre (Joy of Life) and Picasso s Les Demoiselles d Avignon are
considered as inspired by and breaking free of The Large Bathers.
Paul Cezanne s painting The Large Bathers was his last and arguably his greatest
work. Cezanne labored on this painting for seven years. The subject is a group of

Matisse was influenced by CГ©zanne s method of analyzing and pulling apart his
subject matter. Like Paul CГ©zanne, Matisse believed that everything could be
broken down into simple shapes and painted that way (Matisse, Bonheur de Vivre,
n.d.). In Bonheur de Vivre the broken down figures accurately represent the human
form and living scenery. The figures in The Large Bathers emit a feeling of calm
while the scene depicted in Bonheur de Vivre is a place full of life and love and
freedom. Unlike the paintings by CГ©zanne, Matisse s work does not depict forms
that recede in the background and diminish in scale. In Bonheur de Vivre, the scale
of the figures in the foreground and the middle ground is badly skewed (Matisse,
Bonheur de Vivre, n.d). Matisse brought exploration of vision through space by
incorporating shifting perspectives. As a result, the viewer relates differently to the
painting and is required to enter the scene. Matisse s painting is perhaps the first
canvas to actually further the elder master s ideas.
As well as Matisse s Bonheur de Vivre, Pablo Picasso s Les Demoiselles d Avignon
was inspired by and deviated from Cezanne s great achievement. Cezanne s
landscape is a broad open field with the abstract females surround a pond as they bath
with abstract surroundings, very much different from Picasso s

In the United States, there are numerous organizations in which are geared toward
advocating for nurses and the health of a population. As a future nurse, it is
enlightening and motivating to see programs created for the purpose of nurse
advocacy. According to Sills (2014), advocacy can be described as any action that
speaks in favor of, recommends, argues for a cause, supports or defends, or pleads
on behalf of others (Para. 2). By supporting and making recommendations, these
groups can work together to better the nursing career field as well as the health of a

discipline to apply to every individual, not just a health care provider. Sullivan said,
TNA would like to thank Representative Bob Bibb and Senator Diane Black for
their attempt to better protect health care workers (para. 4). This statement displays
the desire and attempt of the TNA to advocate for not only the nurses, but also the
entire population. The Tennessee Nurses Association has a goal to enhance nurse

importance. Research had to be done to determine what the nurses were expected to

During the introduction of the Harlem Renaissance, African American poets started
to gain popularity for their works. The works of African American poets were seen
to be uninfluential to the genre of poetry due to the difference of addressed issues.
Poets of African American decent did not only address issues of the sex, but also race,
colorism, and class. Though fighting for some of the same issues, black poets had
issues on a different spectrum from white poets. The emergence of Womanist derived

the end of the poem, Clifton wakes up from a dream and her dream confirmed that
she does not need to be white to feel accepted and beautiful. Her race gives her that
satisfaction,

The works of Gwendolyn Brooks addresses issues in the African American
community. Brooks mentions issues including racial identity, political consciousness,
and feminism. In her poem, The Mother, Brooks discusses her experience with
abortion. Abortions were viewed as one of the most horrific things a woman can do.
Society viewed women who had abortions as monsters, which resulted into shaming.
Women had to keep abortions secret or to lie if they were to remain with a good
reputation,
Is faulty: oh, what shall I say, how is the truth to be said?
You were born, you had body, you died.
It is just that you never giggled or planned or cried . (Gilbert, 781) Brook s uses
various poetic techniques to get her poems across to people. Poetic techniques are
used to keep readers engaged and interested in the poem. In the poem, We Real Cool,
she uses alliteration, rhyme, rhythm, consonance, and assonance,

Five Places To Raise Children
Diapers, bottles, and milk are only a few of the things needed for babies. The list
of things children need grows with them. With the decrease of the inflation rate
this is great, expect this doesn t apply with having kids. They average estimated
amount spending on one child is 13,248. Raising children in the east is more
expensive averaging $14,310, while it is cheaper in the west coming at $12,171.
The institute determined that in America, a two parent, two child family needs to
earn $63,741 a year to secure an adequate but modest living standard. Not only can
supplies and necessities add up, but the area where you raise your children could
bump up the prices even more. The top five places to raise children are Stamford

Theme Of Antigone
The play Antigone by Sophocles is about a young woman wanting to bury her
brother and she was sentenced to death. She was sentenced to death because the
king had made a law that no one is aloud to bury him, and she decided to do it
anyway because it was her brother and it was a respectful thing to bury him and not
just let him rot and get picked over by animals. At the end of the story her fiancГ©
ends up killing himself so he can be with Antigone in the after life. After Antigone
and the son were dead the mother found out and committed suicide. There are three
main themes presented in the play Antigone, which are femininity, power, and pride.
The first major theme presented in the play Antigone is when Antigone is showing

In the end it either kills them or people betray them. This starts off in the play of
Antigone when it opens they say how the Oedipus brothers each year are supposed
to share the thrown by switching back and forth. When the Oedipus brothers came
back to take his turn on the thrown the other brother would not give it up so they
ended up fighting over it, a power struggle In the end they ended up killing each
other for the greed of power. The King also showed the greed of power because
once he took over he believed he was like a god. He thought he could control all the
people in the town with his laws that he was making. It ended up corrupting him and
his family and every one in his family ended up killing themselves. The kings son
said that if he did not stop acting so foolish that he would leave too. At the end once
Antigone was dead he killed himself to be with her and then the mother killed
herself because she lost her son. And this was because the king got to greedy with
the power he had of the

The History of American Literature
The history of American Literature starts well before this land was even called
America. It has been a great evolution to come from tribal symbols and drawings to
today s Stephen King and Danielle Steele. Literature has gone through many
phases and was impacted by great events and ideas in American history. The
earliest form of literature in what would one day be known as America were far
from what modern day people would consider Literature . The Natives who
inhabited this land first had unwritten ways of passing on experiences, beliefs, and
stories. Natives relied heavily on the verbal telling of these stories to younger
generations. The same stories, fables, or belief structures were told repeatedly, each
time identical to the last,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mather s rewarding career included writings on science and medicine as well as
theology and history. His Sentiments on the Small Pox Inoculated (1721) was
instrumental in introducing the smallpox vaccine to New England. A new genre for
American writers, the travel narrative, would become especially influential late in the
1700s. Travel narratives include Travels Through the Interior Parts of North America
(1778) by Jonathan Carver and Travels Through North and South Carolina, Georgia,
East and West Florida, the Cherokee Country, etc (1791) by William Bartram . Travel
stories often blended observations on nature and landscape with tales of personal
courage and achievement. The first American newspaper, the Boston News Letter,
was founded in 1704, and joined by the Boston Gazette in 1719. At a time when
newspaper journalism was concerned primarily with reporting political events, the
New England Courant, started by James Franklin in 1721, became the first newspaper
to include literary entertainment. Franklin s younger brother Benjamin Franklin
published humorous social commentary in the Courant under the pen name of
Silence Dogwood . Magazines also appeared for the first time in the colonies during
the mid 1700s. Before 1800 magazines were concerned primarily with measuring
America s developing culture against the British model. During the 1700s Boston and
Philadelphia became centers of publishing in addition to being political and
commercial centers.
Public Financing Of Campaigns Adopted At The State Level
My research will attempt to affirm or deny the validity of the following theory:
Different mechanisms for the public financing of campaigns adopted at the state level
have led to higher quality candidates, more competitive elections, and more
responsible governance. In order to execute a circumspect and empirical analysis of
the tangible effects of public financing, I will be focusing on scholarship which
dissects each of the individual factors involved, including the various mechanisms of
subsidization, changes or lack thereof in competition upon implementation (primarily
regarding instances of contested incumbency, rather than open seat or uncontested
elections), and the quality of candidates who accept public funding. The articles I
chose to centralize my research on, in conjunction, should help to reveal the overall
effects public financing imposes on each of these variables, allowing one to
postulate its contribution or counteraction to responsible governance. However, in
some respects, it appears that the literature does not currently exist or perhaps even
cannot exist in order to definitively support any such claim, as I will come to over
the course of this survey. To begin, as a brief and general overview of the different
mechanisms for the public financing of political campaigns at the state level, there
are three very broad categories of funding: candidate based, political party based, and
tax incentives for campaign contributions. The variety in which the
Measles
The virus known as Measles There are many viruses today that at one time were a
deadly disease, however because of advances in technology and vaccinations, we no
longer give them a second thought. Prior to the discovery of a vaccination, the
United States reported a total of over 50,000 cases of measles outbreaks each year
with 450 500 cases resulting in death. (NCIRD) Since the disbursement of an
effective vaccination, the measles has been almost eradicated in the United States;
however it is still abundant in other countries around the world. (The college of
physicians of Philadelphia) Is this something we think of when we are traveling? Is

(Cowan) In the blood stream, the virus causes the cells to merge together creating
one large cell with many nuclei. Once the cells are merged they are unable to form
the intended functions resulting in failure of immunity response and multiple system
breakdown. (Plemper, Brindley and Iorio) Rubeola is considered one of the most
infectious virus s know today due to its increased ability to attach to the host, rapid
reproduction, and ability to enter the blood stream and spread to all organs of the
host. (Vyas)
The prevention of measles begins with ensuring you child receives the MMR
vaccination around 12 15 months of age, and then again at 4 6 years of age. The
MMR vaccination protects against the virus for approximately 20 years therefore
another vaccination may be needed again later in life. (David) Increasing the
availability of medical care and vaccination has almost eradicated the Rubeola virus in
the United States. Decreasing population density, improving sanitation, and insuring
adequate nutrition will lower the susceptibility of a population to contracting the
virus. (Schoenstadt) Once the virus is contracted there is no anti viral known at this
time to cure it. Treatment is based upon symptoms presented and typically includes
body temperature maintenance, fluid and electrolyte replacements, nutritional
supplements, and cough suppression. An antibiotic may be ordered to

Smith versus Marx В– A Comparison
Modern economic society can be described as a combination of certain points from
several theories combined into one. Changing dynamics and economic needs of
nations has spawned a development of various, and contrasting, economic systems
throughout the world. Perhaps the two most contrasting philosophies seen in
existence today are that of capitalism and communism. The two philosophers most
notably recognized for their views on these economic systems are Adam Smith and
Karl Marx. This paper will identify several fundamental aspects of economic
philosophy as described by Smith and Marx, and will compare and contrast the views
of these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Smith believed that self, self interest, and self determination, all were mechanisms
where individuals are motivated to gain wealth and power for individual gain and
group gain. Smith believed that В‘self is a matrix of reason and passion (Levine,
1998). Furthermore, Smith believed that sympathy leads to empathy, and our
individual self determination leads to accumulation of wealth that benefits others as
well as us (Levine, 1998). Examples of this concept are evident in our current
economic society today. We see Bill Gates and Microsoft providing technology to
communicate more efficiently, Henry Ford s posterity changing the transportation
market, and many others who impact man with their accumulation of wealth.
The simplistic perception of capitalist society varies greatly among Smith and
Marx. Smith believed that capitalism is a mechanism designed to curb man s
selfishness and put it to work for the general good of all (Baumol, 1976).
Conversely, Marx believed that capitalism is based on neither good nor evil, but a
product of historical circumstances or experience (Baumol, 1976). Marx also
believed that the law of motion in capitalism frustrates, rather than facilitates, the
individual ends (wealth). Marx believed that wealth divides capitalists by class, and
that workers must develop in a universal class (Levine, 1998). Marx also disagreed
with Smith in believing that production must cease to be a labor process if it
Should Police Officers Have More Education
What is education? Education is the process of receiving or giving systematic
instruction, especially at a school or university. There are some people who think
that more education for police officers is not necessary. The current educational
requirement to be a police officer is having a high school diploma. However, some
may argue that police officers should be required to have more education. I agree that
more education is necessary for police officers. Police Officers should have an
adequate level of education, such as a Bachelor Arts or Bachelor of Science. There
should be a requirement for all law enforcement officers, be educated in the three
major critical fields of knowledge in college, sociology, psychology, and criminology.

The Gay Rights Movement Essay
Thesis Statement: The Gay Rights Movement dates back to the 19th century. By
1970 gay and lesbian organizations existed all over the United States and in other
countries all over the world. Some supporters of the movement would say that our
society as a whole has made great strides towards acceptance of homosexuality.
However, gays and lesbians are still fighting for equality in 2009. The issues are
vast and widespread, with same sex marriage at the top of the list. In the world that
we live in today one might be surprised to learn how many countries are accepting
of gay and lesbians, as well as how many are not. The world has made progress
within the last decade regarding this issue, but definitely not enough. We need to take
steps... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Following the ruling more than 18,000 couples married. Prior to the November 4,
2008 election, a ballot called Proposition 8 was proposed for general election. It
called for a ban of same sex marriages. It passed on November 4, 2008 leaving those
previously married couples uncertain of their marital status. There were numerous
demonstrations throughout the nation. Several lawsuits were also filed. Oral
arguments were heard on March 5, 2009 and a decision is expected within ninety
days ( California Proposition 8 ). As we await the decision, many individuals are
speaking out. If the court rules that only existing marriages of same sex couples
are valid, it will be a hollow victory, because we do not want to be the only ones on
the Freedom Train. The California Supreme Court needs to overturn Proposition 8
because what Prop. 8 does for the first time in American history is to take out of a
constitution a group that has been declared equal by the supreme court (Tyler).
LBGT supporters feel the victory must overturn the November 4 ruling as it speaks
to a fundamental civil right within our constitution. Same sex marriage is a
controversial and very serious legal issue that needs to be resolved. I disagree with
the individual state rulings. The laws honoring and protecting heterosexual married
couples remains the same in 50 states.
My First Time
A couple of years ago, I awakened thinking that day would be like any other, but it
wasn t. That was a day that I will never forget. It was the day my friend came to my
house crying to me, lip busted and eye blacked. My initial reaction was shooting
up in rage. I was speculating who I would have to seek revenge on. She told me
who did this to her. I had to calm myself back down, knowing the results would be
the same. The assailant was her boyfriend and father of her soon to be born son.
This was not the first time he had put his hands on her, even though this was the
first time it was this severe. I asked her what she desired to do knowing that my
previous attempts at trying to help her were unsuccessful. I could not figure for the
life of me why she would continue to go back to him. She said she continued to
stay with him because they had a child on the way. Other motives for individuals
staying in abusive relationships are they don t know any better, and they don t
want to feel like a failure. When people think of birthing a child they think of
togetherness. Usually, people want to be a happy family. A child can be thought
of like a fresh start for various people. There are not many people who want to raise a
child alone, so they may remain in a situation that may not be best for them. Being
a single parent was a hard pill for my McDowell 2 friend to swallow. My comrade
wondered why she would have to be the one to raise her child as a single parent, even
though her
What Is The Difference Between Monet s Garden And
Picasso...
Differences between Two Famous Artists Artwork
Artwork could be defined as a universal language that can carry ideas and emotions
of an artist toward audiences via a particular narrative. Presently, there are many
memorable art pieces from various artists. Claude Monet and Pablo Picasso have
become prominent from their unique styles of artwork, which conveys a profound
feeling through basic elements of art, such as the use of color and a narrative.
Although two of them are highly notable for art, there are four differences between
Monet s garden and Picasso s garden, which are artist s background information,
technique, inspiration and meaning.
The first difference between Monet s garden and Picasso s garden is artist s

Meaning is an explanation that uses to describe an emotion in the scene, which
leads the audience to a better interpretation of a narrative in the painting. Monet
uses a quick painted style to portray reality, which, in this case, is a collective joy
of intimate friends in a garden (Walton, 2007). In the foreground, there is a
graceful woman sitting under the tree and smiling at the sounds of her two friends
flirting behind her. A man and a woman seem to share a flirtatious conversation as
the woman appears a pink flush on her cheeks while answering the man s question,
covering her face with a bouquet of flowers in her hands, and sneakily looking at
the man s face. Another woman, young and innocent, staying in the background, is
delightfully admiring the flower bushes around her with a beaming smile appeared
on her lips. She seems to be one of the nature lovers who can solely spend most of
her time outdoor amid the flower garden. The feelings of these three people are all
freshened up by the delightful talk and the support of natural surrounding around
them. On the contrary, Picasso prefers a sharp painting style represented in
geometric shapes, such as triangle, rectangle or oval, which may lead audiences to
have a profound feeling ( Pablo Picasso, 2009). Considering the painting named
Seated woman in a garden , Picasso captures a moment of a woman sitting alone in
a spacious garden. Perhaps the woman is waiting for her lover at the appointment;
however, as she waits longer she does not seem to see her love, therefore appearing
gloomy features. In addition, the nature around her seems to reciprocate her grief
by appearing leaves in a dull tone of green color instead of the freshly light green as
revealed in the Monet s garden. Thus, the painting of Monet is more appealing due to
the delightful story of lively friends, a pleasant couple, and a nature lover, which

Freedom of Speech VS Personal Privacy Solove (2008) firmly argues that privacy
is a fundamental right of citizens, which is a social value, is an essential
component in the functioning of democratic societies. As private information is a
kind of personal property, we shall ask for permission from the information owner
before we assess their privacy on the Internet. Hence, from the society s
perspective, the behaviors performed by the web users would be classified as
deviance, that is a social behavior does not follow the guidelines or expectations of
society. It is no doubt that adverse effects brought by their pseudo expression of
freedom of speech are serious, and such behavior of intruding other s personal
privacy is not the only way to achieve their intention. Therefore, in this case
obviously the right of protecting personal privacy overrides the freedom of speech.
In order to prevent serious effect brought by the deviant behaviors, measures have to
be imposed to combat disclosure of private information. There are many means to
achieve the goal, for example the moral education of using the Internet. Our group
deems that legislation will be one of the most considerable means against disclosure
of privacy on the Internet. According to Ms Susan So (2009), Director General of
Hong Kong Society for the Protection of Children, stated that cyber

Accidental Overdose
An overdose happens when a drug overwhelms and poisons the body. This can result
in severe illness or death. Drugs that can cause an accidental overdose include illegal
drugs ( street drugs ) and prescription and over the counter medicines. There are many
different possible causes of an accidental overdose. Symptoms and treatment vary
depending on the cause.
An accidental overdose should always be treated as an emergency. If you think that
you or someone else has accidentally overdosed, call 911 immediately.
CAUSES
An accidental overdose can happen for many different reasons, such as:
Lack of knowledge about the substance being used.
Using more than one drug at the same time.

A Short Note On The Air Corporation s Essay
aled Air Corporation s From:Russel Jay Eserjose Re: Leveraged Recapitalization
Date:10/29/16 1. a. Sealed Air is a company that manufactures and distributes a
variety of protective packaging materials and systems. It was founded in 1960 and
has grown rapidly throughout its first 25 years of business. During 1987 and
1988, it became apparent from a performance side that management needed to
focus on the manufacturing component, which historically was neglected in favor
of marketing and sales. Although their revolutionary and significant products have
gotten them to where they are, the company was reliant on their old ways causing
a causing efficiency and external problems. When inspecting the efficiency ratios
of Sealed Air from 1987 to 1988, the collection period increased from 58.24 days to
61.36 days interpreting that it is taking longer to collect credit sales from their
distributers. This expresses a negative sign from business partners. Sealed Air s
inventory turnover ratio went from 6.37 to 6.36 showing no dramatic change, but
shows that the company sold more goods than held inventory due to the fact a
customer will pay for it. Lastly, their payable day s ratio went from 39.56 to 38.69.
Again, not a significant change, but shows that Sealed Air s distributors aren t
waiting to receive payments. Their profit margin from 1987 to 1988 decreased about
1%, but in 1989, increased about 1.5%. Sealed Air s operating performance has

The National Aeronautics And Space Administration Essay
Since the dawn of time, the human race has gazed up at the stars, in both wonder
and amazement. Curiosity is one of the best traits that humanity possesses. It
serves to drive us forward and seek a more efficient way of using our skills that are
unique to us. We as humans continued to evolve through the millennia, and so too
did our intelligence and understanding of our small world. We began to socialize
and congregate. We formed small tribes near local water sources as we left our
caves. This would spark some of the first cases of conflict among the human race
damning us with a future littered with warfare as we created a society of haves and
have nots as nations and empires rose and fell. This remains true even today, but our
desire to explore and increase our knowledge has never diminished. With that being
said, we must re evaluate the established paradigm that the National Aeronautics and
Space Administration s (NASA) role in the Cold War. NASA did not exist for the
sole purpose to beat the Soviet Union into space and establish a monopoly of
power in space. This was a byproduct. NASA s genesis was a genuine intention to
increase the knowledge of mankind. In many ways NASA can be seen as a
miracle of mankind because it was born out of a state of war, but evolved into an
organization shaped for peace and discovery. By looking at NASA, it is an
exemption from the warlike nature of the Cold War. We can observe this evolution
from its wartime genesis, and its transition
The Importance Of Smoking In Public Places
Should someone be able to smoke in a public place? Some people believe it should
be banned and others argue that its violates their freedom. The people for this ban
argue that it effects the people around them in a negative way. The people against
want to just smoke out in public. Although there is strong evidence that second hand
smoke has severe health While out right banning smokingis wrong, there should be a
certain limitation of where you can do it so you won t affect others.
The opposition argues that banning smoking in public places will violate their first
amendment. Therefore, banning smoking entirely would take away the rights of
others. They argue that there is pollution in the air that is more harmful than
cigarette smoke. People have ni problem standing by endless number of moving
cars, so they should no mind smoking nearby. When smoking in public people can
just back off, leave, or ask him to move. They are not doing anything against the
law when smoking in public places. People that smoke cannot choose who is going
to be around them in a public place. Americans can do what they choose to on their
free time as long as it is legal. Also, that smoking has been socially acceptable as a
self indulgent activity. We cannot control what an individual wants to do to
themselves. Another argument includes, banning smoking in public places will be
tedious and hard to enforce in every public place.

The text talks about a typical life of a KIPP student, Marita Bargain at the age of
twelve who had transferred from parochial school to KIPP school after her mom
hearing about it. KIPP school is 50 to 60 percent more than the average student
who goes to a traditional public school. When Marita had her first interview, she
thought to herself how difficult and time managing it s going to be for her. Malcolm
Gladwell talks about in the text that students with more school hours are more
successful to those with less. He points out how Marita says that more homework

required for KIPP students. Orchestra music is scientifically proven that it helps
stimulate the more creative part of the brain, making students more intelligent.
Gladwell gathered information by using a chart with the grade level, and ranks them
by low, middle and high. He then compares and analyzes the data. Low income,
african american and hispanic students are meant to read this text. Malcolm Gladwell
talks about spending longer hours in school and working more hours on homework is
the key to making students successful while Carol Dweck believes students can
become more successful with a growth mindset that consists of hard work, motivation

Countries Through Out The World Import And Export
Countries through out the world import and export. You import because other
countries have comparative advantages over natural resources and in some cases
have more human resources since the labor is cheaper. It is produced abroad and
will be imported to the United States. You export when it is cheaper to produce the
goods or service in your country. This includes having access to human capital,
natural resources and human resources. The United States is known for producing
aircraft, spacecraft and etc. It is in demand because it produces the merchandise at
a lower cost compared to other countries. Export produced in the domestic country
and exports abroad. The Untied States is one of the largest exporters in the world.
They are the world s third largest exporters. In 2015 the United States total trade
with foreign countries was 4.99 trillion. They imported more than they exported.
That s a huge issue we are facing here in the United States. We have a negative
balance of trade, also known as a trade deficit since our imports are greater. We
exported 2.23 trillion and imported 2.76 trillion. For these reasons, it has been
blamed that it is destroying our economy and the caused for having a lack of jobs.
People are blaming imports for their lost of jobs. It is cheaper to produce other
materials in other countries because they have more access to other natural resources
than we do. They don t understand the importance to have a trade balance. Another
reason why exporting

The children started working when they were four or five years old, and they were
working full time jobs. They would wake up at five o clock in the morning to start

There were dangerous machines everywhere, so there would be some kids that
would get dragged into them by their aprons. Our regular time was from five in the
morning to nine or ten at night; and on a Saturday, till eleven, and often twelve o
clock at night, and then we were sent to clean the machinery on the Sunday. John
Birley was interviewed by The Ashton Chronicle on 19th May, 1849. Most
children didn t get to go to school, they didn t even get to learn to read or write at
home. Some women lost the chances of having a child, because of the positions
they sat in all day and most of the night. The women seem to suffer especially from
this work, and are seldom , if ever, as straight as other women. There is a testimony
here, too, to the fact that deformities of the pelvis and consequent difficult, even
fatal, child bearing arise from the work of the women in the mines. As they took the
pain of not being able to have a child of their own, so did the African women and
men, just in a different way. They got their children taken away and some were
killed or raped. They got attacked and everyone was suffaring. They are armed in by
the government and sent into various African villages where they proceed to kill
civilians of target vital infrastructure, and commit wide scale rape. Genocide in
Tenosynovitis Research Paper
Stenosing tenosynovitis, or most commonly referred to as trigger finger, is a
condition where one of the fingers is stuck in a bent position. The affected finger may
straighten in a snap similar to a trigger being pulled and then released. This situation
usually occurs when there is inflammation in the area causing space within the sheath
surrounding the tendon to become narrow. To help alleviate it, there are home
remedies for trigger finger pain.
Causes Symptoms
Causes: rheumatoid arthritis, gout, diabetes, works which require repetitive finger and
thumb movements such as farmers, musicians, and industrial workers
Symptoms: stiffness of the finger (most common in the morning), presence of
popping or clicking sensation when the finger is ... Show more content on

In a big bowl or basin, place enough warm water to soak your hand.
b.Make sure that the temperature is safe and not too hot.
c.Soak the affected hand in the morning for 15 to 20 minutes.
d.Pat dry and apply lotion to prevent dryness.
e.Repeat this procedure daily for four to 6 weeks.
Warm water therapy is not applicable if there are open wounds in the hands and other
infections with drainage.
2.Fish oil. A natural source of omega 3 fatty acids, fish oil has fats that lubricate the
joints and help restore the damaged nerve tissues.
a.Take regular daily supplements of fish oil capsules as directed on the dosage label.
However, it is best if you consult a skilled physician for your actual dosage based on
weight.
Fish oil is contraindicated for people with liver disease, bipolar disorder, depression,
diabetes, low blood pressure, and people with an implanted defibrillator. It is also not
advisable for people with weak immune systems, fish and seafood allergies.
3.Hot and cold fomentation. Hot and cold fomentation is a great home remedy for
trigger finger too. The application of fomentation will help ease the pain caused by
the condition.
a.Get 2 basins, fill one with iced cubes and water, and fill the other one with warm
The Ph Of A Solution
The pH of a solution is a measure of the hydrogen ion concentration in the solution.
It can be defined as the negative log of the hydrogen ion concentration. pH = log [H+]
When the pH of a solution is below 7, it is an acidic solution. This means that there
is a higher concentration of free H+ ions in the solution. When the pH of a solution is
above 7, it is a basic solution and it means that there is a higher concentration of OH
ions in the solution. This is because the bases tend to lose their electrons and bond
with protons. So When the pH = 7, the solution is neutral. In other words, the acidity
of the solution decreases with higher pH values. The pH ... Show more content on

The salts can be derived from strong acids and bases making the solution neutral,
from strong acids and weak bases making the solution acidic, from weak acids and
strong bases making the solution basic and from weak acids and weak bases making
the solution neutral. Buffers are solutions that resist changes in pH. They contain a
Bronsted Lowry conjugate acid base pair where either the acid or the base is a weak
electrolyte. They play an important role in our life processes. The chemical
reactions take place at a specific pH in our body and it is very vital to maintain that
pH. When there arise some changes in the pH, this is where buffers come into play.
For example, the carbonic acid base buffer helps to achieve the acid base balance in
the blood. Buffers also help to maintain the homeostasis of the cells. Antacids help
people with their heartburns, which are caused due to excess acid that tries to escape
through the pyloric sphincter into the esophagus. This therefore causes heartburn.
Antacids behave as buffers by neutralizing the excess acid present in the stomach.
Examples of antacids are Alka Selzer, Tums, Briochi, Pepto Bismol, Bromo Selzer,
Rolaids, Maalox, Mylanta etc. Antacids have a certain neutralizing capacity and the

  • 1. Writing A Case Study Essay Writing an essay on the topic "Writing A Case Study Essay" can present both challenges and opportunities for the writer. At first glance, it might seem paradoxical – addressing the intricacies of composing a case study while simultaneously attempting to produce a coherent and informative essay. However, the difficulty lies not only in the conceptualization of the content but also in the execution of a well-structured piece that effectively conveys the essential elements of the subject. One of the primary challenges is striking the right balance between theoretical knowledge and practical application. The essay should delve into the theoretical framework of case study writing, addressing key concepts such as research design, data collection, and analysis. Simultaneously, it needs to provide practical insights, guiding the reader through the step-by- step process of crafting a compelling case study. Striking this equilibrium requires a thorough understanding of the subject matter and the ability to communicate complex ideas in a comprehensible manner. Furthermore, a case study essay necessitates a comprehensive exploration of real-life scenarios, demanding a meticulous approach to research and analysis. It involves dissecting specific cases, identifying relevant patterns, and drawing meaningful conclusions. The writer must possess not only analytical skills but also the capacity to present findings in a coherent narrative that captivates the reader's interest. Structural integrity is another facet that contributes to the complexity of the task. Organizing the essay in a logical sequence while seamlessly integrating theoretical concepts, practical examples, and critical analysis requires careful planning. The writer must ensure that each section flows seamlessly into the next, maintaining a cohesive narrative that guides the reader through the intricate landscape of case study writing. Despite these challenges, crafting an essay on "Writing A Case Study Essay" can be a rewarding endeavor. It provides an opportunity for the writer to deepen their understanding of the subject, refine their analytical skills, and enhance their ability to communicate complex ideas. To give up breastfeeding can be a sensitive issue in a time when breastfeeding is promoted as the healthiest for mother and child (Larsen Kronborg, 2013, p. 848). The debate over whether breast feeding is better than bottle feeding or vice versa has been a debate for many years. With more and more research that is continuously being developed, the option to breast feed or bottle feed is ultimately up to the parents of the child. Although the decision could be based on factors such as a physical incapability or financial burdens, the end result should always be what is going to be best for the baby. As research continues to grow, there has been proven evidence of the positive and negative aspects that come with breast feeding and bottle feeding. The Benefits of Breast Feeding Starting from infancy, parents have the right to make the decisions in their new child s life, which includes breast feeding their child. Infant nutrition is important in development and health throughout life (Klag, McNamara, Geraghty, Keim, 2015, p. 1059) Although the process has been known to bring some complications and many attempts, the end result has been proven to be beneficial to not only the infant during that time but can be tracked in their life down the line. The decision to breast feed is a decision that will not only impact the child, but can also

  • 9. Delight In The Iliad According to what Edmund Burke demonstrated in his On the Sublime and the Beautiful, 1756, two terminologies, delight and sublime , were defined. As declaring that the self preservation would eventually lead to pain and danger, Edmund says that people are delightful when they have a clear sense of the consequences of self preservation, but are not affected by them; meanwhile, sublime excites the delight . By connecting these definitions to the Homeric Hymn, I view The Iliadas the perfect match of Edmund s interpretations. Gods in the Iliad need human beings only because their pain and suffering can fulfill god s selfish pursuing of delight and sublime . Gods look for delight on personal wills by intervening or not involving, and multitudinous pains originated from god s process of pursuing sublime . Certain gods pursue delight by harming people on their personal wills. Apollo, the god of the sun, has been a typical reflection of how selfish all gods deal with mortals in the Iliad. At the beginning of the story, Apollo had already swept a fatal plague through the army men were dying and all because Agamemnon spurned Apollo s priest (I 11 12). The entire cause of spreading the plague was that the daughter of one of his priests was captured as spoil of winning a battle by Agamemnon, the leader of Achaean army. Absolute monarchy was the solution to maintain order in society. Absolute monarchy allows a king to have complete authority to rule the state by divine right. Under absolute monarchy, the king has full power in all parts of the sate and parliament. Kings must be in control of all power and this power must not be shared to be successful under absolute monarchy. A third of the Big Three of tragedians, Euripides was, in his time, less successful than both Aeschylus and Sophocles, who had 13 and 20 victories. Euripides writing was drastically different from that of the others. While playwrights like Sophocles wrote characters the way they should be ideally, Euripides wrote his characters truthfully and portrayed people as compassionate and cruel and complicated as humans really are. In Medea, Euripides details the story of the play s namesake and leads readers to question his motives as well as hers. In a society that values its own and sees women as property, Medeademonstrates a confrontation of prejudices and the reality of any conflict. To a Greek audience in 431 BC, Medea might not have seemed unordinary at first. In the time of Medea, women followed the orders of men. When Jason leaves Medea, she is supposed to quietly accept that he does not want her. Instead, Medea exacts revenge on Jason, killing their two children, Jason s new princess, and the princess father. She can easily be seen as wild with passion and vengeance, driven to murderous and filicidal deeds. However, Euripides not only makes Medea a cruel, murderous character, but also one of much love and strength. He defies the attitude Greeks had of women. In her article over Greek culture s influence in Medea, Susanna Federici Nebbiosi described Medea as

Like Paul CГ©zanne, Matisse believed that everything could be broken down into simple shapes and painted that way (Matisse, Bonheur de Vivre, n.d.). In Bonheur de Vivre the broken down figures accurately represent the human form and living scenery. The figures in The Large Bathers emit a feeling of calm while the scene depicted in Bonheur de Vivre is a place full of life and love and freedom. Unlike the paintings by CГ©zanne, Matisse s work does not depict forms that recede in the background and diminish in scale. In Bonheur de Vivre, the scale of the figures in the foreground and the middle ground is badly skewed (Matisse, Bonheur de Vivre, n.d). Matisse brought exploration of vision through space by incorporating shifting perspectives. As a result, the viewer relates differently to the painting and is required to enter the scene. The King also showed the greed of power because once he took over he believed he was like a god. He thought he could control all the people in the town with his laws that he was making. It ended up corrupting him and his family and every one in his family ended up killing themselves. The kings son said that if he did not stop acting so foolish that he would leave too. At the end once Antigone was dead he killed himself to be with her and then the mother killed herself because she lost her son. And this was because the king got to greedy with the power he had of the

It has been a great evolution to come from tribal symbols and drawings to today s Stephen King and Danielle Steele. Literature has gone through many phases and was impacted by great events and ideas in American history. The earliest form of literature in what would one day be known as America were far from what modern day people would consider Literature . The Natives who inhabited this land first had unwritten ways of passing on experiences, beliefs, and stories. Natives relied heavily on the verbal telling of these stories to younger generations. The same stories, fables, or belief structures were told repeatedly, each time identical to the last,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mather s rewarding career included writings on science and medicine as well as theology and history. His Sentiments on the Small Pox Inoculated (1721) was instrumental in introducing the smallpox vaccine to New England. A new genre for American writers, the travel narrative, would become especially influential late in the 1700s. Travel narratives include Travels Through the Interior Parts of North America (1778) by Jonathan Carver and Travels Through North and South Carolina, Georgia, East and West Florida, the Cherokee Country, etc (1791) by William Bartram . Travel stories often blended observations on nature and landscape with tales of personal courage and achievement. The first American newspaper, the Boston News Letter, was founded in 1704, and joined by the Boston Gazette in 1719. At a time when newspaper journalism was concerned primarily with reporting political events, the New England Courant, started by James Franklin in 1721, became the first newspaper to include literary entertainment. Franklin s younger brother Benjamin Franklin published humorous social commentary in the Courant under the pen name of Silence Dogwood . Magazines also appeared for the first time in the colonies during the mid 1700s. Before 1800 magazines were concerned primarily with measuring America s developing culture against the British model. During the 1700s Boston and Philadelphia became centers of publishing in addition to being political and commercial centers.

Public Financing Of Campaigns Adopted At The State Level My research will attempt to affirm or deny the validity of the following theory: Different mechanisms for the public financing of campaigns adopted at the state level have led to higher quality candidates, more competitive elections, and more responsible governance. In order to execute a circumspect and empirical analysis of the tangible effects of public financing, I will be focusing on scholarship which dissects each of the individual factors involved, including the various mechanisms of subsidization, changes or lack thereof in competition upon implementation (primarily regarding instances of contested incumbency, rather than open seat or uncontested elections), and the quality of candidates who accept public funding. The articles I chose to centralize my research on, in conjunction, should help to reveal the overall effects public financing imposes on each of these variables, allowing one to postulate its contribution or counteraction to responsible governance. However, in some respects, it appears that the literature does not currently exist or perhaps even cannot exist in order to definitively support any such claim, as I will come to over the course of this survey. To begin, as a brief and general overview of the different mechanisms for the public financing of political campaigns at the state level, there are three very broad categories of funding: candidate based, political party based, and tax incentives for campaign contributions. The variety in which the

  • 27. Smith vs. Marx Smith versus Marx В– A Comparison S. Glen Balanoff July 04, 2004 Smith versus Marx В– A Comparison Modern economic society can be described as a combination of certain points from several theories combined into one. Changing dynamics and economic needs of nations has spawned a development of various, and contrasting, economic systems throughout the world. Perhaps the two most contrasting philosophies seen in existence today are that of capitalism and communism. The two philosophers most notably recognized for their views on these economic systems are Adam Smith and Karl Marx. This paper will identify several fundamental aspects of economic philosophy as described by Smith and Marx, and will compare and contrast the views of these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Smith believed that self, self interest, and self determination, all were mechanisms where individuals are motivated to gain wealth and power for individual gain and group gain. Smith believed that В‘self is a matrix of reason and passion (Levine, 1998). Furthermore, Smith believed that sympathy leads to empathy, and our individual self determination leads to accumulation of wealth that benefits others as well as us (Levine, 1998). Examples of this concept are evident in our current economic society today. We see Bill Gates and Microsoft providing technology to communicate more efficiently, Henry Ford s posterity changing the transportation market, and many others who impact man with their accumulation of wealth. The simplistic perception of capitalist society varies greatly among Smith and Marx. Smith believed that capitalism is a mechanism designed to curb man s selfishness and put it to work for the general good of all (Baumol, 1976). Conversely, Marx believed that capitalism is based on neither good nor evil, but a product of historical circumstances or experience (Baumol, 1976). Marx also believed that the law of motion in capitalism frustrates, rather than facilitates, the individual ends (wealth). Marx believed that wealth divides capitalists by class, and that workers must develop in a universal class (Levine, 1998). Marx also disagreed with Smith in believing that production must cease to be a labor process if it

There are some people who think that more education for police officers is not necessary. The current educational requirement to be a police officer is having a high school diploma. However, some may argue that police officers should be required to have more education. I agree that more education is necessary for police officers. The issues are vast and widespread, with same sex marriage at the top of the list. It called for a ban of same sex marriages. It passed on November 4, 2008 leaving those previously married couples uncertain of their marital status. There were numerous demonstrations throughout the nation. Several lawsuits were also filed. Oral arguments were heard on March 5, 2009 and a decision is expected within ninety days ( California Proposition 8 ). As we await the decision, many individuals are speaking out. If the court rules that only existing marriages of same sex couples are valid, it will be a hollow victory, because we do not want to be the only ones on the Freedom Train. The California Supreme Court needs to overturn Proposition 8 because what Prop. 8 does for the first time in American history is to take out of a constitution a group that has been declared equal by the supreme court (Tyler). LBGT supporters feel the victory must overturn the November 4 ruling as it speaks to a fundamental civil right within our constitution. Same sex marriage is a controversial and very serious legal issue that needs to be resolved. I disagree with the individual state rulings. The laws honoring and protecting heterosexual married couples remains the same in 50 states.

It was the day my friend came to my house crying to me, lip busted and eye blacked. My initial reaction was shooting up in rage. I was speculating who I would have to seek revenge on. She told me who did this to her. I had to calm myself back down, knowing the results would be the same. The assailant was her boyfriend and father of her soon to be born son. This was not the first time he had put his hands on her, even though this was the first time it was this severe. I asked her what she desired to do knowing that my previous attempts at trying to help her were unsuccessful. I could not figure for the life of me why she would continue to go back to him. She said she continued to stay with him because they had a child on the way. Other motives for individuals staying in abusive relationships are they don t know any better, and they don t want to feel like a failure. When people think of birthing a child they think of togetherness. Usually, people want to be a happy family. A child can be thought of like a fresh start for various people. Differences between Two Famous Artists Artwork Artwork could be defined as a universal language that can carry ideas and emotions of an artist toward audiences via a particular narrative. Presently, there are many memorable art pieces from various artists. Claude Monet and Pablo Picasso have become prominent from their unique styles of artwork, which conveys a profound feeling through basic elements of art, such as the use of color and a narrative. Although two of them are highly notable for art, there are four differences between Monet s garden and Picasso s garden, which are artist s background information, technique, inspiration and meaning. Meaning is an explanation that uses to describe an emotion in the scene, which leads the audience to a better interpretation of a narrative in the painting. Monet uses a quick painted style to portray reality, which, in this case, is a collective joy of intimate friends in a garden (Walton, 2007). In the foreground, there is a graceful woman sitting under the tree and smiling at the sounds of her two friends flirting behind her. A man and a woman seem to share a flirtatious conversation as the woman appears a pink flush on her cheeks while answering the man s question, covering her face with a bouquet of flowers in her hands, and sneakily looking at the man s face. Another woman, young and innocent, staying in the background, is delightfully admiring the flower bushes around her with a beaming smile appeared on her lips. She seems to be one of the nature lovers who can solely spend most of her time outdoor amid the flower garden. The feelings of these three people are all freshened up by the delightful talk and the support of natural surrounding around them. On the contrary, Picasso prefers a sharp painting style represented in geometric shapes, such as triangle, rectangle or oval, which may lead audiences to have a profound feeling ( Pablo Picasso, 2009). Considering the painting named Seated woman in a garden , Picasso captures a moment of a woman sitting alone in a spacious garden. Perhaps the woman is waiting for her lover at the appointment; however, as she waits longer she does not seem to see her love, therefore appearing gloomy features. In addition, the nature around her seems to reciprocate her grief by appearing leaves in a dull tone of green color instead of the freshly light green as revealed in the Monet s garden. Thus, the painting of Monet is more appealing due to the delightful story of lively friends, a pleasant couple, and a nature lover, which many

As private information is a kind of personal property, we shall ask for permission from the information owner before we assess their privacy on the Internet. Hence, from the society s perspective, the behaviors performed by the web users would be classified as deviance, that is a social behavior does not follow the guidelines or expectations of society. It is no doubt that adverse effects brought by their pseudo expression of freedom of speech are serious, and such behavior of intruding other s personal privacy is not the only way to achieve their intention. It was founded in 1960 and has grown rapidly throughout its first 25 years of business. During 1987 and 1988, it became apparent from a performance side that management needed to focus on the manufacturing component, which historically was neglected in favor of marketing and sales. Although their revolutionary and significant products have gotten them to where they are, the company was reliant on their old ways causing a causing efficiency and external problems. When inspecting the efficiency ratios of Sealed Air from 1987 to 1988, the collection period increased from 58.24 days to 61.36 days interpreting that it is taking longer to collect credit sales from their distributers. This expresses a negative sign from business partners. Sealed Air s inventory turnover ratio went from 6.37 to 6.36 showing no dramatic change, but shows that the company sold more goods than held inventory due to the fact a customer will pay for it. Lastly, their payable day s ratio went from 39.56 to 38.69. Again, not a significant change, but shows that Sealed Air s distributors aren t waiting to receive payments. Curiosity is one of the best traits that humanity possesses. It serves to drive us forward and seek a more efficient way of using our skills that are unique to us. We as humans continued to evolve through the millennia, and so too did our intelligence and understanding of our small world. We began to socialize and congregate. We formed small tribes near local water sources as we left our caves. This would spark some of the first cases of conflict among the human race damning us with a future littered with warfare as we created a society of haves and have nots as nations and empires rose and fell. This remains true even today, but our desire to explore and increase our knowledge has never diminished. NASA did not exist for the sole purpose to beat the Soviet Union into space and establish a monopoly of power in space. This was a byproduct. NASA s genesis was a genuine intention to increase the knowledge of mankind. In many ways NASA can be seen as a miracle of mankind because it was born out of a state of war, but evolved into an organization shaped for peace and discovery. By looking at NASA, it is an exemption from the warlike nature of the Cold War. We can observe this evolution from its wartime genesis, and its transition

Antacids help people with their heartburns, which are caused due to excess acid that tries to escape through the pyloric sphincter into the esophagus. This therefore causes heartburn. Antacids behave as buffers by neutralizing the excess acid present in the stomach. Examples of antacids are Alka Selzer, Tums, Briochi, Pepto Bismol, Bromo Selzer, Rolaids, Maalox, Mylanta etc. Antacids have a certain neutralizing capacity and the greater it is, more
