She Walks In Beauty Essay
Never in my entire life have I heard of this poem. It came to my attention the first time in class.
After researching on the Internet about the author, who is known as Lord Byron, an English poet
from the romantic period. The poem is a description of a beautiful woman, whom Byron
acquainted, at a ball while meeting his cousin by marriage. Her unusual beauty struck Byron and
the poem was written the morning after. It is said that She walks in beauty is one of Byron s most
famous piece.
She walks in beauty, like the night of cloudless dimes and stairy night
The poem starts with a description of how the beauty of a woman is like the night, which is
quite an odd way to say that she was beautiful. Normally a woman s beauty would be compared
to a summer s day, like another former author have written, Sonnet 18 by Williams Shakespeare
as an example. Although, in this poem, instead of being compared to a normal night, she is
compared to a cloudless night with millions of shining stars. I suppose it means she has a lovely
and clear complexion? Her beauty is therefore not only her appearance; the cloudless night might
as well refer to her personality, a conscience clear as the cloudless sky. This woman was not only a

The poet also repeats himself once again by talking about the contrast between dark and bright,
presumably because this woman has the best of both sides, the best of dark and the best of bright.
He mentions that the best of dark and bright meet in her aspect and eyes, it would seem that her
eyes represents some kind of harmony between dark and bright, while her aspect is her appearance.
This could mean that when Byron met this woman, her eyes might have been dark but seemed to
sparkle and therefore creates harmony and beauty.

The Death Of The Front Door Of A Home
In the front door of a home, a police officer is waiting to give terrible news to a family. I am
sorry, your son died in a car accident. The evidence found in the scene leads to the conclusion
that your son was driving while texting. A simple text message can change your life forever and
the life of innocent people around you. The only reward you will gain from this event, is a toe
tag; a tag that is place only on dead people. Many people died each year while driving and texting
and it is disgraceful to see authorities not suspending the person s driver licensee or taking him
to jail. I am against this event, due to the painful consequences it contains. Each time a person is
driving and texting, they are holding a Russian revolver. The person can have luck and pull the
trigger without having any consequences, however the person can run out of luck and one day
die in the scene. The person at times does not die alone; instead, the person drags innocent
people to the arms of death with him. A couple of letters are not worth your life or the life of
others, so why even try to take a risk? If you are having trouble containing yourself from using
your smart phone devised, there are many ways to avoid a toe tag. In order to avoid a deadly car
collision, an individual can text before driving, place his smartphone devised out of his reached or
just simply turn it off (Goldsborough). Such simple tasks to do and yet many people decided to be
rebels. It is amazing how people rather

Literary Devices In Hamlet
Hamlet Analysis
To be, or not to be? That is the question, These words are spoken by Hamlet in the play Hamlet by
William Shakespeare. This quote is well known around the world and is interpreted differently, with
so much meaning behind a small soliloquy. Throughout the play, Hamlet, Shakespeare uses the
literary device to involve the audience on what is occurring but also to convey more meaning and
understanding. Shakespeare uses symbolism describe complex ideas, that help develop the plot of
the play. Another literary device he uses is imagery, he uses imagery throughout the play to give a
more accurate representation of the corrupt Denmark and the events taking place within. Lastly, he
uses allegory, the allegories are used to hide the moral all throughout the play. In Hamletthe play,
William Shakespeare, uses different literary devices to further the understanding of his writings,
through symbolism using objects to convey the meaning behind it, imagery using descriptive words
to help give a more vivid picture to the audience, and allegory to hide morals/messages behind other
things.
Throughout the play, Shakespeare uses symbolism to help the audience further understand the
meaning. The one example that stood out the most was, the poison throughout the story, for
example, ...Upon my secure hour, thy uncle stole With juice of cursed hebenon in a vial, And in
the porches of my ears did pour... (Act 3, Sn. 5, ln. 61 63). Poison was a symbol of death and
afterlife, they

Analysis Of The Film The Flies By F. Scott Fitzgerald
Artistically speaking, this film is beautiful. There was a lot of thought put into every detail from
the actors to the camera shots. The film seems to flow in beautiful manner from one scene to the
next. One piece of art in the film is the use of symbols. Each symbol is delicately placed in order
to make sense to any viewers that can pick up on them. One symbol is Nick s obsession with his
Peace Lily. It represents his obsession with the job. It is the only other thing he cares for because
its needs are simple and by the books. When he breaks it, it is supposed to symbolize his change of
heart; that somebody has taken the place of the lily. Another symbol in the filmis the number 3.
There are 3 murders that take place before people believe Nicholas. There are 3 people Nick tries
to talk to in order to get out of being sent to Sanford. Many lines are repeated 3 times over. This
could be in reference to fairytales always using the number 3, since this plot seems far fetched
like a fairytale. However, it could also be in reference to the trilogy of films that Wright and Pegg
made together. Then, there is the swan symbol. Swans typically symbolize grace, beauty, and
peace. In the film, though, the swans symbolize an overbearing distraction. Nicholas is constantly
surrounded by them in the hotel he stays at, which is rightly called The Swan Hotel . He is also
charged with the task of catching an escaped swan. This causes him to miss many chances to catch
the perpetrators of

Genome Wide Association Studies ( Gwas ) Essay
In recent years, genome wide association studies (GWAS) have successfully tagged thousands
of disease or trait associated genetic loci. However, molecular mechanisms linking the locus to
the disease phenotype often remain unclear. Moreover, for most complex diseases and traits,
associations found in GWAS explain only a small proportion of the phenotypic variation (129,
130). For example, although 71 independent loci have been associated with Crohn s Disease,
they account for only 23% of the estimated heritability (131). GWAS of psychiatric diseases
show an even less favorable picture. For instance, schizophrenia has an estimated heritability of
80% (132, 133), but observed genetic variants currently account for less than 1% of the variance
(134). To bridge this gap between genotype and disease phenotype and to better understand the
biological mechanisms and translational possibilities, the genotype driven approach, aided with
deep phenotyping, appears to be a more appealing and powerful strategy (135, 136). A limitation
of this approach however, is that the disease pathologies are often tissue or cell type specific (137
141), and due to ethical and practical reasons, deep phenotyping analyses are often only feasible in
easily available surrogate tissues such as blood, particularly in large population based gene
identification studies. The iPSC technologies discussed here in this chapter, along with new
sequencing technologies, genome wide assays, and comprehensive genome

The A Independent School District
Prosper, Texas is one of the last additions to Collin County and has a current population of over
12,000 residents (Minor, 2010). Prosper s establishment came about from the merging of two
farming settlements in 1902, however the city s name was not incorporated until 1914 ( History
, n.d.; Minor, 2010). According to the city s webpage, Prosper is committed to being family
oriented and providing every resident an opportunity to experience quality living while
maintaining small town ideals ( About Prosper , n.d.). The Prosper Independent School District s
(PISD) vision to reach everyone, everyday ( REACH Philosophy / REACH , 2002) mirrors the
town s belief in including everyone. Despite the exceptional growth within the city over the past
few years, the school district is determined to meet the needs of its student population. One way in
which PISD plans to ensure all of its students receive an equitable education, is through its adoption
and implementation of the Response to Intervention (RtI) program.
The Response to Intervention program came into existence as a result of various federal legislative
mandates. The No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB) emphasized the responsibility of schools
to ensure academic progress from all students, including English language learners, students of
lower socioeconomic backgrounds, and those in special education (NCLB, 2001;) Then, In 2004,

Leadership Competencies And Leadership Skills
The ability and strength of an individual to achieve goals by supervising processes, guiding
initiatives and employees is defined as Leadership skills. Valuable leadership skills include taking
thoughtful decisions, allocation of resources, and the ability to delegate, inspire and communicate
effectively. Other leadershiptraits include honesty, confidence, commitment and creativity.
Leadership competencies can be used to effectively select, develop and promote leaders in an
organization .The difference between Leadership Skilland leadership competency can explained as
the required level of efficiency to perform a task assigned is known as skill whereas the quality
to accomplish the same is called as competency. When creating leadership competencies certain
factors are considered such as business strategies and future trends. To drive the use of
competencies in selecting and developing leaders HR practitioners should use the business
strategies. To effectively build a unique set of skills for the organization s leaders, the firm will
sustain competitive advantage. The role of a project manager has always been my interest. The
position which I have always desired is a role of project manager. Leadership skills are utmost
important for today s mangers as the Project is entirely dependent on them , because without a
good leader, a project is unlikely to be completed successfully. These skills are

The Transformation Masks Of The Kwakwaka
The transformation masks of the Kwakwaka wakw culture were ritual items. Kwakwaka wakw
does not refer to only one tribe but numerous others. Kwakwaka wakw consists of 17 tribes in their
nation in total that originally spoke the language. The kwakwaka wakw nation is found in the
northwest coast of British Columbia, Canada. The many different nation of the kwakwaka wakw is
extremely diverse, although there are commonalities. For example many of the groups relate that
their ancestors roamed the world transforming themselves into animals. This is also shows how the
maskshave two face in one as to represent their ancestors. Even though the culture has such an
amazing artistic style and rituals the people underwent numerous struggles to hold onto them.
The Kwakwaka wakw bands consist of four clans (killer whale, raven, eagle, and wolf). The
clans are divided by numayn (or na mina) which can be loosely translated as groups of fellows
of the same . Numayns were responsible for safeguarding family crest and for conveying their
specific rights. This could have included access to natural resources such as fishing areas and
rights to sacred names and dances related to their ancestors or the group s origin. The numayns
were ranked and typically were the only ones to fill in a spot at any given time in a group. Each
rank entitled them to specific rights as well, such as ceremonial privileges. These ceremonial
privileges included the right to wear masks. Animal transformation masks

many things that can make the job of being a mother tough and one of them is being a single
mother. In the short story, Shopping by Joyce Carol Oates there is no exception to modern day
hardships that come along the road of motherhood. The turbulence in Nola and Mrs. Dietrich

Children In The Civil War Essay
The Civil War was also known as the Boys War for good reasons. The impact boys under the age
of 18 had in battle was much greater than any other war. Children at home also had to take up
many responsibilities and jobs to help with the war. Some of the boys in battle even became
famous, a legacy to the children of the Civil War.
Many children participated in battles and war responsibilities on the homefront during the Civil
War. The numbers of children that were involved in battles was very high. Just in those who
received the Congressional Medal of Honor, 48 were under the age of 18(Children in the Civil

attendants, guards, water carriers, and barbers. Even the children who stayed at home had many
responsibilities to help with the war. The boys learned the trade of the fathers and many of the
young girls helped their mothers make clothes, quilts, and organize supplies for the troops. Many
of these children had to drop out of school to help their family earn money and get food. In the
South, many children became an active part in the Southern Bread Riots(Children on the Home

Ukuthwala Custom
Benign accommodation? Ukuthwala, forced marriage and the South African Children s Act
Lea Mwambene and Julia Sloth Nielsen(
Abstract
In this article, we evaluate the implications of the Children s Act 38 of 2005 for ukuthwala.
Ukuthwala is a practice whereby, preliminary to a customary marriage, a young man, by force, takes
a girl to his home. Questions arise relating to the impact of constitutional principles upon customary
law and practice. It is suggested that instead of a prohibitionist stance towards customs that seem to
violate human rights norms, a benign accommodation of aspects that promote the positive aspects
of culture be adopted. This approach leads to a conclusion that South African law should recognise

The main aim of ukuthwala is to force the girl s family to enter into negotiations for the conclusion
of a customary marriage.[18] (Underlining supplied).
The procedure for ukuthwala is as follows: The intending bridegroom, with the help of the one or
two friends, will waylay the intended bride in the neighbourhood of her own home, quite often
late in the day.[19] They will then forcibly take her to the young man s home. Sometimes the girl
is caught unawares, but in many instances she is caught according to prior plan and agreement. In
either case, the girl will put up a show of resistance to suggest to onlookers that it is against her
will, when in fact, it is seldom so. As Bekker

Not only will a business have to offer a steep discount for a product or service, but will also have to
pay a high commission structure to Groupon, just for listing the deal.
The theory behind small businesses doing this is, even though they would lose money on the
coupons, they believe they can attract long term customers. Unfortunately, this theory is wrong.
The businesses find customer volume falls off after the deals are done and they are not much
better off than before they offered the coupon. Business owners have no incentive to list deals
through Groupon. In fact, it would end up hurting the business by doing so. So why would a
business owner renew a deal on Groupon?
The company s problem is not related to who is CEO, but it is about the business model. In fact,
the next CEO will run into the very same issues that Mason had. Unless the new CEO can
introduce a radical change in the entire business model, it is very unlikely much can be done to turn
the company around. Even with Mason gone, investors will just stay away.
This is a company, which should have thought twice before going public. Eventually the volume
of coupons will drastically fall and no matter how big Groupon s sales force is, it will not be able
to stop the bleeding when the coupon issuers do not benefit. Groupon s best option is to adapt to a
stronger business model and not just focus on management change.
Why is the Internet necessary for the company or how can it benefit?

The emperor, Kang xi, is considered by many the greatest of the Manchu emperors and in some
ways an example of Plato s Philosopher King. Discuss the truth of this statement (you may also
disagree). Be sure to refer to the reading by Kang xi in your answer.
Emperor Kangxi (1654 1722) became the second ruler of the Manchu Qing Dynasty. He ascended
the thrown after his father, who was the first emperor of the dynasty died. He became the ruler at

Moreover, the idea of Plato s Philosophy King is further shown in Emperor Kangxi s way of
thinking and decision making, stating, In the hunt one can kill all the animals caught inside the
circle, but one can t always bear to shoot them as they stand there, trapped and exhausted. This
emphasizes the type of leader he was and how much heart he had when it comes down to dealing
with his own people.
Plato s Philosophy King describes every aspect of Emperor Kangxi, a leader who consistently
ruled under the Mandate of Heaven . He believed that good government depended on letting the
people live at rest and that stirring up trouble is no different from preventing trouble from
occurring. Because of his intelligence, reverence to Confucianism and rational way of thinking,
he was able to reign as Emperor of a stabilized and prosperous Manchu Dynasty for 61 years.

Beauty Attracts In The Name Of Attraction Short Story
Indra replied, Beauty attracts. That could be earthly and beyond it.
Gautama continued the debate, It is an infatuation in the name of attraction. What reflects divinity
is the real beauty.
Viswamitra joined in, Beauty not only attracts, it tempts the seekers to own it. His opinion was
probably from his own experience.
Vashistha said, Whatever infatuates is not real beauty. It is a malady instead. It is mere lust and
greed. Indra said, Beauty is a symbol of the divine mystery. Hence, it overwhelms. God tries to test
people s will through infatuation.
Gautama said, Beauty could be the reason for the dissolution of illusion.
Vashistha added, Beauty elevates people above diseases, pain, old age, and death.

Unless Brahma brought an end to the endless discussion time would run out. Hermits were due to
return go back to earth before sunset. Even though Indra was the emperor of gods, he was the
youngest and has eternal youth. He was after luxury and indulgence. He was aggressive and
materialistic. Hence, it was normal that his opinion differed from that of Gautama. Brahma
probably wanted to expose the difference between them in front of all.
Vishnu concluded the meeting with these words. Each experience leads to the appreciation of
morality and nonviolence. That is also the goal of beauty. Without it, there will be ugliness in the
name of beauty. Chaos will be known as the nectar of immortality. The highest level of beauty
originates from a creator with the highest consciousness. It also helps the observer to realize
everlasting boundless beauty. That is the Brahman.
Brahma added, Beauty creates happiness beyond senses. It is spiritual. It is the resolution of
questions related to life, mind, and soul. Even if it depends on earthly materials, beauty is never a
material itself. It not only values but also achieves its primal goal. The expression and realization
of beauty are forever. It suffices to say beauty leads a man towards salvation.
Brahma indirectly supported Gautama over Indra. While both were his students, he always
supported Gautama. Therefore, there was no surprise here. Pratha

Paulo Freire
In novel, chapter 2 of Pedagogy of The Oppressed written by Paulo Freire we are introduced to two
educational concepts. Freire refers to the concepts as the banking concept and problem posing
concept. The banking concept is the assumption that the teacher controls and fills students with
selected information. Freire believes It is the people themselves who are filled away through lack of
creativity, transformation, and knowledge in this misguided system (Freire 1). On the other hand
Freire believes that the soulution to the educationsystem is problem posing. This concept
encourgaes studentdialogue, creativity, and discovery. Meaning that the student is free and in
control of his education. I believe Freire decribition of the banking concept is unconsintent. A
teacher goal is not to control and fill students with memorization. Instead, the goal is to expand a
student mind with critical information that sometimes needs memorization such as math equations,
history, science, and vocabulary.

Lake s Healing Room Ministry Essay
Once he returned to the United States, he remarried, and began a traveling ministry. One of the
places he was asked to speak was Spokane, Washington. He was asked to start a healings room,
and he agreed. Over an approximately five year period, over 100,000 healings were reported.
Spokane was declared the healthiest city in the United States . Although Lake s church was
never large, thousands came from all over the country and the world to receive prayer. In 1920,
he felt called to move to Portland, Oregon and start a healing room ministry there. Similar
healings were reported during these years as well. Lake started a healing rooms ministry on the

Comparing Church Of The Light And Cardboard Cathedral
Every designers and architects have their very own style of designs that would become their

about the two distinguished Japanese architects, Tadao Ando and Shigeru Ban, and their works of
Church of the Light and Cardboard Cathedral respectively.
Tadao Ando, one of the most notable contemporary Japanese architects who was born in Osaka,
Japan in 1941, Ando had never attended any formal architectural education. He is a self taught

Coal Mining Pros And Cons
NorthMet Mining Project
Polymet Mining is a mining industry that is proposing to create Minnesota s first sulfide mine.
The company is wanting to create an open pit copper and nickel mine that is located north of
Hoyt Lakes in the Superior National Forest (BC Hydro). They plan to call this project the
NorthMet Mining Project. There is a dire need for nickel and copper in America, and building this
mine will help obtain these resources. There are many pros and cons to the mine being built in one
of Minnesota s National Forests. The building of this mine would help obtain the necessary
resources that the United States is lacking, but will also destroy the natural state of the Superior
National Forest and many habitats of the animals living within the forest. In my opinion, I do not
think that building this mine will benefit the United States because of all the damage to the natural
land that it will cause. Contrary to iron mines, sulfur mines release sulfuric acid when water comes
in contact with tailings or other mining wastes during the mining process. Sulfuric acid has ... Show

Only a few people controlled the county and they had utilized their time ensuring that as a race
[they] should stay in [their] place as one black citizen put it. Even though the black community
had power in their numbers, the white community managed all the businesses... and they filled
every professional office . Civil Rights activists were looked up to but the thought of equal
representation was not possible at the time in Darien until March of 1972. The black community
soon found its breakthrough in their fight for civil rights when the racial barrier was violently
crossed one night. It would still take time for their voices to be truly heard from someone who did
not fall under the influence of Sheriff Tom Poppell.
After his father s passing Tom Poppell was able to secure his thirty one year reign as sheriff and
rule the county with a strong iron fist. His endless rule allowed him the opportunity to exert his
will and shape the county the way he imagined in order to keep both races separate. The thrill for
power over the county was the sole motivator in his line of work. He worked on his own time,
lived by his own law, and McIntosh s citizens acknowledged his dominance by stating you weren t
scared when you saw him coming, but you could feel the power when he was nearby. This power
is without a doubt evident and it is the reason the majority of the citizens idolized Poppell.

Languages, grammars and automata theory are all related to computer applications. Grammar is the
rule for language structure regardless of the meaning. For computer programming languages
context free grammar (CFG) is commonly used. Formal language as opposed to natural language
must be used with computer applications because natural language is too vague for computer
applications. Automata is a way to test an expression to determine if it is part of the language
(Pfeifer, 2005).

Primary Source Paper For this primary source paper, I decided to write a comparison on the
source Women s Place in Renaissance Italy: Alessandra, Letters from a Widow and Matriarch of a
Great Family and The Virgin Suicides written by Jeffrey Eugenides. Immediately reading the first
paragraph of Women s Place in Renaissance Italy, it strongly resonated with The Virgin Suicides
in a
way. I thought these two would make an interesting comparison due to the way they both address
men, death, complexity of being a female, and family.
In the primary source, it talks about women from the upper class who gain prestige and power
through widowhood. While lower class women had more freedom in their early life with work and
marriage, upper class women were pressured to keep the wealth going throughout generations
which led to a great deal of pressure to marry a rich man and benefit from that in any way that
they could. The source focuses on a woman named Alessandra, who lived in the years between
1450 1465; married a wealthy merchant, named Matteo Strozzi, who then died of the plague thus
leaving her with branches of businesses all across Europe and a sudden new access to these things
that her husband previously took charge of. She talked to her sons about their role in the family
with political, marital, and economical issues and duties for the family. She talked to her daughters
about the men they should strive to marry and the duties they have at home that they should learn

Percentage composition by mass of Magnesium oxide
Abstract:
The purpose of this lab was to test the law of definite proportions for the synthesis reaction of
combusting magnesium. In this lab, the polished magnesium ribbon was placed in covered
crucible and was heated in order for it to react with Oxygen presented in air and in water provided.
The result showed that Magnesium oxide formed through chemical reaction was made up of
60.19% magnesium and 39.81% oxygen, which is approximate proportion of both particles in
every Magnesium oxide compound. From this lab it can be concluded that the law of definite
proportion stating that the elements in a pure compound combine in definite proportion to each
other is factual.

In the novel, King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table, the author, Roger Lancelyn Green,
makes numerous connections to the teachings of the Catholic church. These connections show the
importance of the Catholic faith to the knights of Logres. Some of these examples, including the
presence of a Jesus figure, the performing of miracles, and the betrayal of friends, relate to many of
our central beliefs as Catholics. In King Arthur, Galahad acts as a Jesus figure. Merlin prophesied
Galahad to be born of Elaine and Lancelotand he was going to save the people of Logres. I would

Some historians claim that it was the mesmerizing Anne Boleyn that struck a chord in the King s
heart, persuading him to divorce Catherine. However, his discontent with his first marriage
begins earlier than that. Although historians cannot pinpoint the exact date, it is noted that
Henry began questioning their marriage as early as 1524 or 1525 when physicians informed
him that Catherine was reaching menopause. Furthermore, the birth of his illegitimate son,
Henry Fitzroy, to his mistress, Bessie Blount, in 1519 is proof that Henry was capable of
producing a healthy, living son. When Catherine reached the age of forty, she had been pregnant
seven times, six of the children dying within days of delivery. These pregnancies took a toll on
Catherine s body and she was declining in her physical charms . Her inability to provide a male
heir threatened the line of succession and furthered Henry s dissatisfaction By 1527, he had
become completely infatuated with Anne Boleyn and had begun finding ways to get rid of
Catherine. He began speaking of guilt and the feeling of incest from marrying his brother s wife
and would often cite Leviticus 20:16 ( If a man shall take his brother s wife, it is an impurity; he
heath uncovered his brother s nakedness; they shall be childless ). Though Henry and Catherine
were able to have a daughter, the lack of a male heir was enough to torment Henry. The King

Research Paper On Zheng He
The beginning of maritime exploration was a major milestone in the history of the world. The
exploration of the vast sea lead to the development of trade relations between foreign empires and
innovation that helped to improve the speed and efficiency of ships. New ships attracted the
attention of explorers who sought to fulfill their personal desires or those of their empire, however
one explorer stood above them all. Zheng Hes tragic childhood only fueled his thirst for power
which he fulfilled through his expeditions to foreign countries, that in turn benefited China, even
after his death he left his impact.
Zheng He had a complicated childhood that helped forge his future as one of the greatest
maritime explorers of China. He was born in 1371 in Yunnan, located near the foothills of the
Himalayas near south west China. (Nelson and Strayer 508). Zheng He s ancestors were Persian
Muslims. His grandfather and father practised Muslim faith and had made Hajj, the pilgrimage to
Mecca, before his family became high ranking officials for the Mongols that had taken over China
at the time. (Nelson and Strayer 508). When the Ming dynasty overthrew the Mongols they
invaded Yunnan when Zheng He was eleven and as a result his father was brutally killed while
resisting Ming forces in 1382. (Brown).
In ancient Chinese times castration was a common ritual that had been practised for a long history
of time not only in China but also in Islamic and Christian civilizations. (Nelson and

Swimming Reflection
I was in 5th grade and school was going just fine. I had decent grades, some good friends,

When the day of the first swimming unit started, I felt scared, or perhaps that s my present
emotions getting in the way of my past emotions. We entered the locker room and equipped
ourselves with our swimming apparel and exited to the room with the pool. I could smell the
chlorine in the air. Everyone in my class was seated on a large steel bench and divided into groups;
Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced.
Surprisingly enough, I was placed into the Intermediate group with two of my aforementioned
friends. I felt a weird sense of pride as I walked past the others waiting to be assigned to a group
with my new colleagues. Once everyone was assigned to a group, my group s instructor yelled
out, Alright, get in the water and hold onto the side! We did as we told, but what I didn t know
was that the height of the water in that area of the pool was greater than mine.
Next, he barked, Alright, we re gonna swim to the deep end and back!

younger . (2) 17,382 children were enrolled in an enhanced access group (intervention group)

the overall cost of healthcare delivery has not increased the enrollment in traditional Medicaid

systems, or clan system, nor a fixed terms of color or ritual, along with one of the smallest set
phonemes in the world, along with hum and whisper speech. They have no concepts of future or
past ideologies, totally living in the present and are relatively very happy people. One unfavorable
aspect about this novel is that it lacked the life of the women and children within the villages.
Everett only really interacted with the males of this society, whether there was any cultural
boundaries that restricted him from interacting with the woman is unknown, but it was something
that caught my attention while reading.
The novel is spelt up into three parts: Life, Language, and Conclusion. Each one dedicated to a
certain part of the Pirahas culture. Part One: Life was very detailed on what events went on in
the daily lives. These people get very little sleep and Everett mentioned that it is very rare to have
the village totally quiet at night, one is always talking not caring if people next to them are

Enzymes Lab Report
Introduction
Aim:
To determine the kinetic parameters (Km and Vmax) of the alkaline phosphatase enzyme.
Theory and principles
The enzyme is the most important molecule that is involved in the day to day functioning of the
cell. Enzymes act as biological catalysts, they facilitate slow reactions by lowering the energy
required to activate the reaction. Enzymes do not undergo a permanent change and therefore remain
unchanged at the end of the reaction. Enzymes are highly selective and will only catalyze specific
reactions.
Enzymes are made up from amino acids with side chains (R groups) that have defining
characteristics. The charge carried by specific amino acids is determined by the level of
protonation, which varies with the pH value. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Place the contents of the individual test tubes, one at a time, into the cuvette. Place the cuvette into
the spectrophotometer, after 10 minutes read and record the corresponding absorbency value.
Repeat this step for the 7 individual test tubes. Once you have recorded all necessary data. Use Beer
Lamberts law to determine the product concentration: A=в€€CL Draw a standard curve of product
concentration against temperature. The peak of this graph represents the optimum temperature of
the enzyme, alkaline phosphatase.
Determine the initial reaction velocities by varying the substrate concentrations and the optimum
pH and temperature (determined by the above processes). Turn on the spectrophotometer and
allow to warm up for 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, set the wavelength (О») to 405nm. Keep the
pH at a constant of 8 and the temperature at a constant of 37В°C. Use a blank, and place inside the
spectrophotometer. By doing this you are making the absorbance reading zero as to get future
accurate absorbency readings.
Prepare 9 test tubes (cleaned and dried) according to the table

  • 2. She Walks In Beauty Essay Never in my entire life have I heard of this poem. It came to my attention the first time in class. After researching on the Internet about the author, who is known as Lord Byron, an English poet from the romantic period. The poem is a description of a beautiful woman, whom Byron acquainted, at a ball while meeting his cousin by marriage. Her unusual beauty struck Byron and the poem was written the morning after. It is said that She walks in beauty is one of Byron s most famous piece. She walks in beauty, like the night of cloudless dimes and stairy night The poem starts with a description of how the beauty of a woman is like the night, which is quite an odd way to say that she was beautiful. Normally a woman s beauty would be compared to a summer s day, like another former author have written, Sonnet 18 by Williams Shakespeare as an example. Although, in this poem, instead of being compared to a normal night, she is compared to a cloudless night with millions of shining stars. I suppose it means she has a lovely and clear complexion? Her beauty is therefore not only her appearance; the cloudless night might as well refer to her personality, a conscience clear as the cloudless sky. This woman was not only a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The poet also repeats himself once again by talking about the contrast between dark and bright, presumably because this woman has the best of both sides, the best of dark and the best of bright. He mentions that the best of dark and bright meet in her aspect and eyes, it would seem that her eyes represents some kind of harmony between dark and bright, while her aspect is her appearance. This could mean that when Byron met this woman, her eyes might have been dark but seemed to sparkle and therefore creates harmony and beauty. Thus mellowed to that tender light Which heaven to gaudy day ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Death Of The Front Door Of A Home In the front door of a home, a police officer is waiting to give terrible news to a family. I am sorry, your son died in a car accident. The evidence found in the scene leads to the conclusion that your son was driving while texting. A simple text message can change your life forever and the life of innocent people around you. The only reward you will gain from this event, is a toe tag; a tag that is place only on dead people. Many people died each year while driving and texting and it is disgraceful to see authorities not suspending the person s driver licensee or taking him to jail. I am against this event, due to the painful consequences it contains. Each time a person is driving and texting, they are holding a Russian revolver. The person can have luck and pull the trigger without having any consequences, however the person can run out of luck and one day die in the scene. The person at times does not die alone; instead, the person drags innocent people to the arms of death with him. A couple of letters are not worth your life or the life of others, so why even try to take a risk? If you are having trouble containing yourself from using your smart phone devised, there are many ways to avoid a toe tag. In order to avoid a deadly car collision, an individual can text before driving, place his smartphone devised out of his reached or just simply turn it off (Goldsborough). Such simple tasks to do and yet many people decided to be rebels. It is amazing how people rather ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This quote is well known around the world and is interpreted differently, with so much meaning behind a small soliloquy. Throughout the play, Hamlet, Shakespeare uses the literary device to involve the audience on what is occurring but also to convey more meaning and understanding. Shakespeare uses symbolism describe complex ideas, that help develop the plot of the play. Another literary device he uses is imagery, he uses imagery throughout the play to give a more accurate representation of the corrupt Denmark and the events taking place within. Lastly, he uses allegory, the allegories are used to hide the moral all throughout the play. In Hamletthe play, William Shakespeare, uses different literary devices to further the understanding of his writings, through symbolism using objects to convey the meaning behind it, imagery using descriptive words to help give a more vivid picture to the audience, and allegory to hide morals/messages behind other things. The one example that stood out the most was, the poison throughout the story, for example, ...Upon my secure hour, thy uncle stole With juice of cursed hebenon in a vial, And in the porches of my ears did pour... • 5. Analysis Of The Film The Flies By F. Scott Fitzgerald Artistically speaking, this film is beautiful. There was a lot of thought put into every detail from the actors to the camera shots. The film seems to flow in beautiful manner from one scene to the next. One piece of art in the film is the use of symbols. Each symbol is delicately placed in order to make sense to any viewers that can pick up on them. One symbol is Nick s obsession with his Peace Lily. It represents his obsession with the job. It is the only other thing he cares for because its needs are simple and by the books. When he breaks it, it is supposed to symbolize his change of heart; that somebody has taken the place of the lily. Another symbol in the filmis the number 3. There are 3 murders that take place before people believe Nicholas. There are 3 people Nick tries to talk to in order to get out of being sent to Sanford. Many lines are repeated 3 times over. This could be in reference to fairytales always using the number 3, since this plot seems far fetched like a fairytale. However, it could also be in reference to the trilogy of films that Wright and Pegg made together. Then, there is the swan symbol. Swans typically symbolize grace, beauty, and peace. In the film, though, the swans symbolize an overbearing distraction. Nicholas is constantly surrounded by them in the hotel he stays at, which is rightly called The Swan Hotel . He is also charged with the task of catching an escaped swan. This causes him to miss many chances to catch the perpetrators of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Genome Wide Association Studies ( Gwas ) Essay In recent years, genome wide association studies (GWAS) have successfully tagged thousands of disease or trait associated genetic loci. However, molecular mechanisms linking the locus to the disease phenotype often remain unclear. Moreover, for most complex diseases and traits, associations found in GWAS explain only a small proportion of the phenotypic variation (129, 130). For example, although 71 independent loci have been associated with Crohn s Disease, they account for only 23% of the estimated heritability (131). GWAS of psychiatric diseases show an even less favorable picture. For instance, schizophrenia has an estimated heritability of 80% (132, 133), but observed genetic variants currently account for less than 1% of the variance (134). To bridge this gap between genotype and disease phenotype and to better understand the biological mechanisms and translational possibilities, the genotype driven approach, aided with deep phenotyping, appears to be a more appealing and powerful strategy (135, 136). A limitation of this approach however, is that the disease pathologies are often tissue or cell type specific (137 141), and due to ethical and practical reasons, deep phenotyping analyses are often only feasible in easily available surrogate tissues such as blood, particularly in large population based gene identification studies. Ukuthwala is a practice whereby, preliminary to a customary marriage, a young man, by force, takes a girl to his home. Questions arise relating to the impact of constitutional principles upon customary law and practice. The businesses find customer volume falls off after the deals are done and they are not much better off than before they offered the coupon. Business owners have no incentive to list deals through Groupon. In fact, it would end up hurting the business by doing so. So why would a business owner renew a deal on Groupon? Comparing Church Of The Light And Cardboard Cathedral Every designers and architects have their very own style of designs that would become their signature and would be recognized when people see their works. In this essay, I choose to write about the two distinguished Japanese architects, Tadao Ando and Shigeru Ban, and their works of Church of the Light and Cardboard Cathedral respectively. Tadao Ando, one of the most notable contemporary Japanese architects who was born in Osaka, Japan in 1941, Ando had never attended any formal architectural education. Shigeru Ban was then designed this new temporary church using his paper tube construction to replace the ruined cathedral. Cardboard Cathedral was constructed with a base of eight shipping containers and paper tubes of equal length to form a triangular shape. There are steel rods hided inside cardboard tubes in order to support the A frame. Paper tubes are constructed with slightly change in each angle to form the geometry which is decided by plan and elevations of the original cathedral. The company is wanting to create an open pit copper and nickel mine that is located north of Hoyt Lakes in the Superior National Forest (BC Hydro). They plan to call this project the NorthMet Mining Project. There is a dire need for nickel and copper in America, and building this mine will help obtain these resources. There are many pros and cons to the mine being built in one of Minnesota s National Forests. The building of this mine would help obtain the necessary resources that the United States is lacking, but will also destroy the natural state of the Superior National Forest and many habitats of the animals living within the forest. In my opinion, I do not think that building this mine will benefit the United States because of all the damage to the natural land that it will cause. Primary Source Paper For this primary source paper, I decided to write a comparison on the source Women s Place in Renaissance Italy: Alessandra, Letters from a Widow and Matriarch of a Great Family and The Virgin Suicides written by Jeffrey Eugenides. Immediately reading the first paragraph of Women s Place in Renaissance Italy, it strongly resonated with The Virgin Suicides in a way. I thought these two would make an interesting comparison due to the way they both address men, death, complexity of being a female, and family. In the primary source, it talks about women from the upper class who gain prestige and power through widowhood. While lower class women had more freedom in their early life with work and marriage, upper class women were pressured to keep the wealth going throughout generations which led to a great deal of pressure to marry a rich man and benefit from that in any way that they could. The source focuses on a woman named Alessandra, who lived in the years between 1450 1465; married a wealthy merchant, named Matteo Strozzi, who then died of the plague thus leaving her with branches of businesses all across Europe and a sudden new access to these things that her husband previously took charge of. Some historians claim that it was the mesmerizing Anne Boleyn that struck a chord in the King s heart, persuading him to divorce Catherine. However, his discontent with his first marriage begins earlier than that. Although historians cannot pinpoint the exact date, it is noted that Henry began questioning their marriage as early as 1524 or 1525 when physicians informed him that Catherine was reaching menopause. Furthermore, the birth of his illegitimate son, Henry Fitzroy, to his mistress, Bessie Blount, in 1519 is proof that Henry was capable of producing a healthy, living son. When Catherine reached the age of forty, she had been pregnant seven times, six of the children dying within days of delivery. These pregnancies took a toll on Catherine s body and she was declining in her physical charms . Her inability to provide a male heir threatened the line of succession and furthered Henry s dissatisfaction By 1527, he had become completely infatuated with Anne Boleyn and had begun finding ways to get rid of Catherine. Everett, is a linguist who s whole mission during his stay with the Piraha s was to not only learn their language, but to convert them to Christianity. This however never happened, Everett actually ends up giving up his faith for the name of science and language. His novelis a page turner, it make the reader to want to keep reading it until the very end. The way Everett writes just draws people in, the way he chooses his words and the structure of the sentences makes one feels like that they are with him. Over the span of three decades, Everett and his family live with the Piraha for a total of seven years learning their culture and language. What he found their really changed the idea of how we perceive languages and the different theories behind them. The Pirahas, do not have a counting systems, or clan system, nor a fixed terms of color or ritual, along with one of the smallest set phonemes in the world, along with hum and whisper speech. They have no concepts of future or past ideologies, totally living in the present and are relatively very happy people. One unfavorable aspect about this novel is that it lacked the life of the women and children within the villages. Everett only really interacted with the males of this society, whether there was any cultural boundaries that restricted him from interacting with the woman is unknown, but it was something that caught my attention while reading. The novel is spelt up into three parts: Life, Language, and Conclusion. Each one dedicated to a certain part of the Pirahas culture. Part One: Life was very detailed on what events went on in the daily lives. These people get very little sleep and Everett mentioned that it is very rare to have the village totally quiet at night, one is always talking not caring if people next to them are sleeping.
