The National Deworming Day is an initiative by the Indian government to deworm children between ages 1-19 across the country. More than 800 million children worldwide are at risk of parasitic worm infections. The objective is to improve children's health, nutrition, education access, and quality of life by deworming them through schools and community centers. Soil-transmitted parasitic worms infect people through contaminated soil and cause anemia, malnutrition and reduced development in children. The government aims to maximize coverage of the program and increase awareness of deworming benefits and hygiene practices.
