Jon Hellevig presented on leadership and employee engagement in modern Russian corporate cultures. He discussed how Russian companies have talented employees but often struggle to form winning teams. Hellevig explained that the most important job of business leaders is to create a desired corporate culture and outlined eight factors that can help engage employees, including trust, communication, empowerment, and rewards. While foreigners may expect Russian collectivism, Hellevig noted Russians can actually be very individualistic and engagement requires balancing individual interests with corporate goals.
