Workshop on Smart Mobility
1. Unlocking the potential of
smart mobility
Providing access to high-quality urban
mobility services requires a variety of
planning and operational innovations,
as well as better understanding of travel
behaviour, operational processes, and
the factors which affect these issues.
The convergence of physical and digital worlds
is creating unprecedented opportunities to
enhance the travel experience for millions of
people and businesses every day. Disruptive
forces – including automated self-driving,
mobile computing, on-demand shared
mobility services and big data analytics – are
increasingly changing the mobility landscape
and providing consumers with more choices
to meet their travel needs while reducing
reliance on building additional infrastructure.
This one-day workshop is organised by
the Centre for Sustainable Infrastructure
at Swinburne University of Technology.
The workshop program will include
presentations from government
agencies, technology providers, specialist
consultants and research organisations
on topics covering recent developments,
advances and applications in this field.
Who should attend?
The workshop is suitable for employees of
government transport departments, urban
planning organisations, local governments,
consultancies, technology providers and
research organisations working in transport,
urban mobility, city planning, freight and
logistics services.

a good understanding of the key forces
affecting mobility solutions in our connected
cities, their potential impacts, possible
timeframes for their deployment, the range
of new business models which they may

Workshop on Smart Mobility.
Mapping the value beyond the hype.
17 November 2015
The sweeping changes anticipated by disruptive mobility have inspired
visions of a very different future, as well as a good deal of hype. To
distinguish between the hype and reality, this workshop brings together
specialists from industry, government and research organisations to share
knowledge and insights on how disruptive forces are changing the urban
mobility landscape and promoting sustainable smart cities.
