Jesus feeds over 5,000 people with just 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish. Though the crowd seeks Jesus because they were fed, He tells them not to work for food that perishes but for eternal life. Jesus declares that He is the bread of life and that all who believe in Him will never hunger or thirst.

What is our moral compass? Everyone has some theological moral compass. As a Christian, our moral compass should be the word of God. Many in the world use television, social media, the teachings of men, parents, or their college professor as their guideline for formulating their moral compass. How do Christians point the way to Christ and His word as a compass of right and wrong?

Slide 2: Introduction to Mindfulness
Mindfulness, defined as the conscious, non-judgmental observation of the present moment, has deep roots in Buddhist meditation practice but has gained significant popularity in the Western world in recent years. In today's society, filled with distractions and constant stimuli, mindfulness offers a valuable tool for regaining inner peace and reconnecting with our true selves. By cultivating mindfulness, we can develop a heightened awareness of our thoughts, feelings, and surroundings, leading to a greater sense of clarity and presence in our daily lives.
Slide 3: Benefits of Mindfulness for Mental Well-being
Practicing mindfulness can help reduce stress and anxiety levels, improving overall quality of life.
Mindfulness increases awareness of our emotions and teaches us to manage them better, leading to improved mood.
Regular mindfulness practice can improve our ability to concentrate and focus our attention on the present moment.
Slide 4: Benefits of Mindfulness for Physical Health
Research has shown that practicing mindfulness can contribute to lowering blood pressure, which is beneficial for heart health.
Regular meditation and mindfulness practice can strengthen the immune system, aiding the body in fighting infections.
Mindfulness may help reduce the risk of chronic diseases such as type 2 diabetes and obesity by reducing stress and improving overall lifestyle habits.
Slide 5: Impact of Mindfulness on Relationships
Mindfulness can help us better understand others and improve communication, leading to healthier relationships.
By focusing on the present moment and being fully attentive, mindfulness helps build stronger and more authentic connections with others.
Mindfulness teaches us how to be present for others in difficult times, leading to increased compassion and understanding.
Slide 6: Mindfulness Techniques and Practices
Focusing on the breath and mindful breathing can be a simple way to enter a state of mindfulness.
Body scan meditation involves focusing on different parts of the body, paying attention to any sensations and feelings.

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

2. 4 Now the Passover, the feast of the Jews, was near. 5 Therefore
Jesus, lifting up His eyes and seeing that a large crowd was coming to
Him, said to Philip, "Where are we to buy bread, so that these may
eat?" 6 This He was saying to test him, for He Himself knew what He
was intending to do. 7 Philip answered Him, " Two hundred denarii
worth of bread is not sufficient for them, for everyone to receive a little."
8 One of His disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, said to Him, 9
"There is a lad here who has five barley loaves and two fish, but what
are these for so many people?"
- John 6:4-9 NASB
Working for the Food That Endures to Eternal Life
3. 10 Jesus said, "Have the people sit down." Now there was much grass
in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand. 11
Jesus then took the loaves, and having given thanks, He distributed to
those who were seated; likewise also of the fish as much as they
wanted. 12 When they were filled, He said to His disciples, "Gather up
the leftover fragments so that nothing will be lost." 13 So they gathered
them up, and filled twelve baskets with fragments from the five barley
loaves which were left over by those who had eaten. 14 Therefore
when the people saw the sign which He had performed, they said,
"This is truly the Prophet who is to come into the world." 15 So Jesus,
perceiving that they were intending to come and take Him by force to
make Him king, withdrew again to the mountain by Himself alone.
- John 6:10-15 NASB
Working for the Food That Endures to Eternal Life
4. 22 The next day the crowd that stood on the other side of the sea saw
that there was no other small boat there, except one, and that Jesus
had not entered with His disciples into the boat, but that His disciples
had gone away alone. 23 There came other small boats from Tiberias
near to the place where they ate the bread after the Lord had given
thanks. 24 So when the crowd saw that Jesus was not there, nor His
disciples, they themselves got into the small boats, and came to
Capernaum seeking Jesus. 25 When they found Him on the other side
of the sea, they said to Him, " Rabbi, when did You get here?"
- John 6:22-25 NASB
Working for the Food That Endures to Eternal Life
5. 26 Jesus answered them and said, "Truly, truly, I say to you, you seek
Me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate of the loaves and
were filled. 27 Do not work for the food which perishes, but for the food
which endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you, for
on Him the Father, God, has set His seal." 28 Therefore they said to
Him, "What shall we do, so that we may work the works of God?" 29
Jesus answered and said to them, "This is the work of God, that you
believe in Him whom He has sent."
- John 6:26-29 NASB
Working for the Food That Endures to Eternal Life
6. 30 So they said to Him, " What then do You do for a sign, so that we
may see, and believe You? What work do You perform? 31 Our fathers
ate the manna in the wilderness; as it is written, ' HE gave them bread
out of heaven to eat. '" 32 Jesus then said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to
you, it is not Moses who has given you the bread out of heaven, but it
is My Father who gives you the true bread out of heaven. 33 For the
bread of God is that which comes down out of heaven, and gives life to
the world." 34 Then they said to Him, "Lord, always give us this bread."
35 Jesus said to them, " I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me will
not hunger, and he who believes in Me will never thirst. 36 But I said to
you that you have seen Me, and yet do not believe.
- John 6:30-36 NASB

7. You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your

8. 13 Jesus answered and said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this
water will thirst again; 14 but whoever drinks of the water that I will give
him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in
him a well of water springing up to eternal life.”

13. 9 Then the LORD said to Joshua, “Today I have rolled away the
reproach of Egypt from you.” So the name of that place is called Gilgal
to this day. 10 While the sons of Israel camped at Gilgal they observed
the Passover on the evening of the fourteenth day of the month on the
desert plains of Jericho. 11 On the day after the Passover, on that very
day, they ate some of the produce of the land, unleavened cakes and
parched grain. 12 The manna ceased on the day after they had eaten
some of the produce of the land, so that the sons of Israel no longer
had manna, but they ate some of the yield of the land of Canaan
during that year.

20. 14 You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden;

21. 12 So when He had washed their feet, and taken His garments and
reclined at the table again, He said to them, “Do you know what I have
done to you? 13 You call Me Teacher and Lord; and you are right, for

also ought to wash one another’s feet. 15 For I gave you an example

Editor's Notes
John F. Kennedy's inagural address in 1961 - “Ask not what your country can do for you — ask what you can do for your country.”
The holiday feast dates back to November 1621, when the newly arrived Pilgrims and the Wampanoag Indians gathered at Plymouth for an autumn harvest celebration, an event regarded as America's “first Thanksgiving.”
Instead of complaining, “I'm not really getting anything out of the church”we should be asking, “What am I contributing to the church?”and “How have I aided in the growth of the church?”
Some may think that if were a larger congregation we would be stronger. The strength come BEFORE the growth! We will only grow AFTER we become stronger!
