2. Eligibility
Eligibility for the
program will be
determined on a
case-by-case basis.
This opportunity
is for patients with
limited resources
who otherwise
would not be able
to fulfill their
wishes or needs.
Purpose
Process
The purpose of
the Special Wishes
Program is to fulfill
a Good Samaritan
Hospice patient’s
final wishes or
dreams...by
creating special
memories for
them and their
loved ones, or by
enhancing their
final days with
needed comfort
items.
The process of
awareness will be
through referrals
from hospice social
workers who learn
of a patient’s
desired wishes
or dreams. Final
consideration will
be made by hospice
management.
Decisions will
be made in an
expedited manner.
There is no beautifier of complexion
or form of behavior like the wish to
scatter joy, and not pain, around us.
RalphWaldo Emerson (1803-1882)
From time to time, circumstances or requests
arise during our involvement with hospice
patients that prompt us to look beyond the
home or residence for help. Such was the
impetus for the Special Wishes Program.
