The document outlines the author's philosophy of education, which is that students learn best through practice and applying what they have learned to real-world situations. The author believes learning lasts longer when students practice in multiple ways and can transfer their knowledge outside the classroom. During their teaching practice, the author developed lesson plans focused on higher-order thinking and practical application of concepts in math, English, and science. Their goal is to produce students who can think critically and solve problems in a changing world.
1. My Philosophy
According to my experience I gained from Teaching practice (TP) and through my study
the so many learning theories, I discovered that children learn best when they practice what
they have learnt. Learning by doing is one of the most important theories Piaget, Vygotsky and
others call for. (Meggitt, 2006). Of what I have noticed is that learning lasts more if the children
practiced what they have learnt in many different ways. In fact what we aim from our teaching
to students is their long last learning and how to use what they take inside the class to the real
world or to the outside environment.
If students do not practice what they have learnt and just committed to theory, then
they will not be able to transfer the information and be part of their daily life. There are many
aspects help the long last learning here like the learning that focus on practice and pretty much
related to students real life. The learning which leaves students think how to employ it in real
situation rather just to memorize for test purposes. Moreover, the teacher should think
carefully how to lead learning by following the best ways and techniques as well as styles to
facilitate learning.
Through my teaching practice, I developed very good lesson plans to apply this theory.
Because if you plan carefully on how to make students practice learning, then the students will
find no difficulty in problem solving which they depend in real life. Besides, the activities I used
during my teaching depend on higher level of thinking like think, search, explore, explain why,
construct, analyze, make, do, and act in the three subjects, Math, English and Science.
The purpose of education is to create a world class learner who can deal with global as
well as local issues easily and think critically. In addition, the aim of education is to establish
creativity, communication and problem solving among students so that they will be able to live
in a changeable world. Here, in the United Arab Emirates(UAE), people should learn English
because here it is not just a foreign language, rather it is a second language, the language of
instruction, the language of business and the language of the streets. Since many people from
different parts of the world speaking different languages are living on the UAE soil, so we need
one language to connect them all which is English.
My dream is to be a teacher. I like teaching because of many reasons. First, I like to be
with little children and I believe through teaching we can form and shape children based on our
beliefs and philosophy. Besides, teaching gives me the opportunity to achieve something in life.
Whenever I see a doctor, an engineer or a businessman, I will be proud that I contributed to
2. make him or her successful like this. So I wanted to achieve my dream to become a class
teacher or a very distinguished one in order to produce a world class learners.
During my teaching practice, I taught students how to add and contract using real object
and through direct practice. My philosophy is to shift education from theory to practice
whenever I can.
