WHAT IS WIRELESS POWER TECHNOLOGY
• WPT or WET is the transmission of electrical energy from a power
source to an electrical load without the use of discrete man made
conductors
• WP is Useful when Interconnecting wires are inconvenient ,
hazardous or are not possible .

•Inductive power transfer between nearby coils of wire is used and popular as an old technology, it is existing
since the transformer & Induction heating used.

•Method of powering railroad trains using resonant coils inductively coupled to a track wire at 3 kHz

•The first passive RFID technologies were invented by Mario Cardullo.
•It uses electromagnetic fields to automatically identify and track tags attached to objects. The tags contain

•A team from MIT developed coupled tuned circuits made of a 25 cm resonant coil
at 10 MHz to transfer 60 W of power over a distance of 2 meters (6.6 ft) (8 times the
coil diameter) at around 40% efficiency.

2009
•Qi inductive power standard V.1.1 published . It enables
charging and powering of portable devices of up to 5 watts
over distances of 4 cm (1.6 inches).

•Qi inductive power standard updated to V.1.1.2 Published
and it opened a door for greater flexibility for manufacturers.

•Qi V1.2 brought changes & improvements with
increased level of power upto 15 W with expansion to

deliver a safer, more flexible and convenient cooking environment. Powering this

ability to charge existing Qi receivers at up to 35mm. This innovation allows the
