It is not time for silence #marchforscience a Girona, 14/3/2018 Role and responsibility of scientists in defining policies affecting all citizens. We cannot forget everything that has happened / happening in Catalonia, Spain, and other places – we talked about subjects related to fundamentl values of democracy. We debated on implication, participation and role of scientists in the defense of democray. We tried to complete the scientific vision by having political scientists, jurists and filosophers in the round table. Key points: - An nonscientific society is more vulnerable - A society having science culture is more democratic (perhaps not enough, though)

Now the time has arrived, likely. • Incorrect metrics nowadays to reward researchers in Spain (Quartiles) – not weighted. Used for rewards, hiring, ... • Academic, scientific dynamics too heavy relying on 80’s metrics.
