A 147,000 tonne per year waste wood biomass facility in Widnes, England is set to begin testing in October 2016, with commercial operations beginning in early 2017. The 20.2MWe plant will be powered by burning grades B and C recovered wood sourced under a 16-year fuel supply contract. Initial testing will use around 500 tonnes of waste wood, with commissioning in December 2016. The plant is expected to provide heat and power to a nearby logistics hub.
