- 3. INTRODUCTION Human settlements are classified as rural or urban depending on the density of human-created structures and resident people in a particular area. Urban areas can include town and cities while rural areas include villages and hamlets. While rural areas may develop randomly on the basis of natural vegetation and fauna available in a region. Urban settlements are proper, planned settlements built up according to a process called urbanization The flip side of this is that rural areas do not have pollution or traffic problems that beset regular urban areas.
- 4. RURAL LIFE The rural villagers of Pakistan commonly live in houses made of bricks, clay or mud. Most of the villagers are farmers but other rural occupations include blacksmiths, hairdressers and tailors, shepherds. Every villager exacts his livelihood from the land. The rural life is the laborious and simple and the villagers have to engage almost all the time with the job. There are no hospitals, schools, post offices and markets in most of the villages making the life difficult and unhygienic. Villagers keeps on migrating to urban areas where better facilities of social life and brighter chances of earning sustenance are available.
- 5. URBAN LIFE Emergence of new lifestyle, trends and patterns among the Pakistani youth. Spending priorities are tilted towards dining out and on consuming fashion savvy products. The demand from youth from Restaurant and Fashion Industry. Urban areas mostly have the mixed culture to look after. The urban areas are the part of social fabric. The urban areas are the center of social life. urban growth has been more evenly distributed among several cities.
- 6. EDUCATIONAL GAP There is a big difference between urban and rural areas according the education sector. There are not a single proper Schools, Colleges, Universities or any education institute in Rural area as compare to Urban Area. While the urban areas have the best of the education system. Well Furnished Schools, Colleges, Universities and other Educational Institute in Urban areas can be easily located. Urban areas have modern education system like Multi Media and different technologies.
- 7. FINANCIAL GAP PAKISTAN’S economy is largely agro-based and agriculture contributes 21 per cent to the national income. About 45 per cent of labour force is employed in this sector. In urban areas, the employed labour force was 15.99 million. Whereas in rural areas, the employed labour force was 37.85 million. The labour force in the rural areas for males and females was 70 per cent and 27.6 per cent, respectively.
- 8. COMMUNICATION GAP Many traditional families do not like that their female go out side the house for work or something like that. Villagers prefer that some woman teacher should conduct the classes for girls in their own premises. There are sometimes language barrier between the people of urban and rural areas of Pakistan. Some of the reasons for communication gap are the standard of living or social standard of people. Language is one of the biggest reason for the communication gap between Urban and Rural areas.
- 9. LIFE STYLE GAP Urban and rural stands for two different places. These are entirely different from each other. The main and short and difference between urban and rural. The Rural area people loves to live the life simple and healthy. The Urban area people try to follow the different trends and fashions and try earns as much money as they can.
- 10. CONCLUSION Urban living offers a great deal of opportunities to the people including high level of education, a wide range of employment options. It is easier to find a job in urban area and to get better education as there are a lot of different companies, factories and plants as well as many educational institutions which give a chance to the children to be well-educated and to find a good job Rural living gives a chance to avoid heavy traffic, long lines in the stores, feeling caged in the major urban complex. According to the psychological researches, rural population has true long-lasting relations as they live in small villages and deal with the same people. In conclusion, it is necessary to say that both urban and rural living have their advantages and their drawbacks that is why it is difficult to say what location is better for this or that individual.
