1. ‘Ode to Viceroy’ – Mac Demarco
So for my A2 Music Video, I’ve decided to use the song ‘Ode to
Viceroy’ by Mac Demarco. The main motive behind this choice is
because he’s one of my favourite artists of indie music, I enjoy his use
of jangly guitar lines and his jokey adolescent personality. An
inspiring fact about him is that he is talented at most band instruments
such as guitar, keys, bass and drums and he records and plays all of
these instruments himself and does all the production and mixing
using analog multitrack tape recorders.
His song ‘Ode to Viceroy’ has been a favourite of mine since I got
into his music about a year ago. It’s from his second album, ‘2’ which
was released in October, 2012. The song is a relatable tune about
cigarettes and how they can wake you up or calm you down. He’s a
heavy smoker of the American cigarette brand, ‘Viceroy’ and a lot of
his songs on the album ‘2’ mention cigarettes because they’re
important to him.
