Two Tough Calls Case Study
1.A. How would you describe the HR practices and beliefs of the program manager, the narrator of
this case?
For the most part, I believe the narrator had a good outlook with her HR practices and beliefs. She
understood the company did not always do the right thing, but she wanted to make sure she did the
right thing to make her a better manager. The narrator had the ability to be honest with the people,
which would help to make the department stronger. There is not need to lie to people to make
them happy. If people need additional training or development, then they should be aware of what
is expected and what they need to improve. It is better to be up front with the people, because
people that are lied to believe they are doing better ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Adding this step would have shown the company they did not have a full time position available
for Phil. The company still could have used his expertise in the field, but it would have either
been with a part time position or a contract position. The company must ensure they are bringing
people on that are able to perform the job required. It will not help the company to add people with
little or no experience. This will actually hinder the performance of the groups.
3. A. Who s to blame for the program manager s work difficulties with Terry top management, HR
department, prior managers, or the program manager in this case? Discuss. The blame for the
program manager s work difficulties with Terry are a direct result of the handling of Terry by
the previous program manager. While some people would say the blame should lie on the upper
management for hiring Terry, the previous manager was the one that constantly gave Terry above
average grades on performance reviews. If the previous manager was giving Terry above average
grades on performance reviews due to upper management, then I would say it is both the previous
manager and upper management s fault. The previous manager had an obligation to ensure the
performance grades were in line with the performance of the individual. If the manager did grade
accordingly, and the upper management changed the grading, then it is

The Verdimillious Spell
The two spells/charms we learned in this lesson were the Verdimillious and the Spongify
charms. Verdimillious is a spell that can be used to momentarily put a target at bay so you can
either use another spell or get away quickly. That is really the only time this spell is necessary
besides when you want to illuminate a room. The pronunciation of this spell is vur duh MILL ee
ous. To cast, you slash your wand in forward motion. It shoots out green sparks or electrical
energy. It also has another purpose, it can also be used to light up a room. To do so, you wave
your wand in a circular motion above your head and you need to make sure you re just aiming at
air. The light from the verdimillious charm can reveal entryways and other

Training Managers to Improve Employee Retention
Training Managers to Improve Employee Retention
The goal of virtually every business operating today is essentially the same: to make money.
When it comes to the fine art of turning a profit, there are as many different factors that influence
whether or not a company makes money as there are ways to make it. All successful companies
begin by hiring people who best fit the position, and in the modern day world of business, a
considerable amount of time, effort, or money is invested in this endeavor. Once a stellar candidate
has been hired, however, it does the company no good if, six months down the road, they quit
because the working environment turned out not to be the right fit for them. Employees may leave
a company for many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Employees were asked to rank certain aspects of their jobs from 1 to 10 by importance. Managers
were then asked to rank the same job aspects according to what they thought was most important to
their employees. The results show that discrepancies between manager opinion and employee fact
have existed for decades (Employee Retention Headquarters, 2001).
Tools of the Training Trade
Clearly, there is a need for managers to become more involved in retention, and fortunately there is
hope for companies that are struggling with high rates of turnover related to management problems.
A variety of organizations offer training that is designed to help managers perform better, in the
form of seminars, multimedia training presentations, and in house training programs, to name a
few. Some companies also offer training that can be done exclusively online, mitigating such costs
as travel, lodging, lost productivity, and other expenses that are inherent in sending employees
away to a training seminar. Management training can also be tailored to meet the specific needs of
a business to maximize its benefits. Federal Express, the global shipping company, found that
training oriented toward empowering their front line managers to meet the needs of subordinates
themselves without turning to the HR department, best meshed with the business model of their
operations in Asia. (Cafolla, Every manager is an HR manager,

Defining Victory Of The Modern Age Of Warfare
Words Matter: Defining Victory in the Modern Age of Warfare
The United States has not stopped winning wars but the nature of both war and victory has
changed. Adjusting to an evolving geopolitical environment, since World War II the U.S. has
changed the reasons it employs military force and the types of wars it wages. Taken within the
context of the each conflict s era, the U.S. has met with mixed results in each conflict but ultimately
has emerged victorious.
Defining Victory
What is victory? In order to understand victory and defeat it is important to consider the national
objectives that governed each conflict. Since World War II, the U.S. has participated in five major
conflicts (Korea, Vietnam, Dessert Storm, Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring
Freedom in Afghanistan). In each of these conflicts, the U.S. demonstrated military superiority.
However, unlike previous wars, these wars resulted in mixed results based on the specific political
and military objectives of the time.
Korea initiated the policy of containment that defined the Cold Warstruggle between the U.S. and
the Soviet Union. While the conflict s objectives changed multiple times, the coalition met the
initial objective to prevent the spread of communism on the Korean Peninsula. In Vietnam, while
the aim was the same the results were very different. The U.S. was unable to force a political
compromise that prevented the fall of Democratic South Vietnam.
In contrast to Korea and Vietnam,

Age Of Pericles Research Paper
One figure towers over this new democratic state: Pericles. This Age of Athens, which begins either
in 462 or 450 or 445 BC and lasts until 408 BC, when Athens is defeated by Sparta, is called the
Athenian Age, the Classical Age, or, after its most important political figure, the Age of Pericles.
Just about everything that you associate with Greek culture is squeezed into this half century of
wealth, energy, creativity, and chauvinism in Athens. All the great works of Greek tragedy and
comedy, the plays of Aeschylus, Sophocles, Euripides, and Aristophanes, were written in this time
in the city of Athens. Most of the monumental works of architecture, built off of the wealth that
literally poured into Athens from her imperial possessions, were

Gertrude Stein s Speech On Deconstruction In Theatre
Gertrude Stein on Deconstruction in Theatre In Laura Schultz s speech on Gertrude Stein s plays,
she suggests how Stein s deconstruction of dramatic conventions greatly affected contemporary
theatre today. She focuses on Stein s deconstruction of the mimetic relationship between the text
and performance, as well as the deconstruction of the unity of the dramatic character. Schultz
discusses how Stein was inspired by avant garde theatrein Europe, and is now one of the most
influential theatre artists (especially in the field of performance art), but is often overlooked in the
academe in theatre and performance studies, her plays are rarely read or researched. What is
fascinating about Stein s plays is that her language is open to new readings, without preference to
one reading... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Art and reality should not be represented through stable and mimetic means only; the
transformation from text to performance must also be considered in different terms. While the
text is a work of art in its own right, performance should not be limited to just the illustration of
the text. The play is a literary genre which implies that there is a performative aspect in all forms
of writing and language. She then points out that in a theatrical event, concretizing the play
involves space and light, which are more important to a child than the action on the stage.
Generally speaking, all the early recollections all a child s feeling of the theater is two things.
One which is in a way like a circus that is the general movement and light and air which any
theatre has, and a great deal of glitter in the light and a great deal of height in the air, and then
there are moments, a very very few moments but still moments. One must be pretty far advance in
adolescence before one realizes a whole play. (Stein, Plays,

Macbeth And A Midsummer Night s Dream Analysis
Through the many different dynamics that have happened throughout both of these films
Macbeth and A Midsummer Night s Dream, both of them have had very different type of
dynamics with different characters. When I watched Macbeth and A Midsummer Night s Dream,
I found one relationship for each of the films. Most dynamics are provoked by the antagonist s
reactions but they aren t really shown. I will be comparing the dynamics in both of the
relationships of the two different films as well as the dramatic means by which they are being
established by. Throughout the two films there will be differences in both but there will also be
similarities for the dramatic means which are being stated. As for the dramatic means that they are
being established by, is the way they show how their disagreement and which is the reason that
caused it to happen. Therefor the rest of relationships that are happening do happen to have an
impact to the two relationships that I will be talking about. This being the case, the two
relationships I wanted to talk about was Macbethand Lady Macbethfrom the film Macbeth and
from A Midsummer Night s Dream I will be talking about Lysander and Helena. As Macbeth meets
up with the three witches, they begin to talk to him and one of the witches predicts that he will be
king. At the beginning, Macbeth would respect King Duncan and because he had thought he was
going to be King according to the witches. He thought, if he killed King Duncan

Coach Jim Harbaugh s Takeover Case Study
The Michigan Wolverines first year under new head coach Jim Harbaugh has concluded. With a
crushing defeat over the Florida Gators in the Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl, the Wolverines
capped an impressive 2015 16 campaign with double digit victories (10 3). Michigan
quarterback Jake Rudock threw for 278 yards and three scores in the 41 7 blowout of Florida,
showing his development under Harbaugh. Looking for proof of Harbaugh s ability to develop
quarterbacks? Look no further than the fifth year Wolverines signal caller this past season.
Rudock began the season with an atrocious road performance against Utes in Utah, throwing three
picks, including an interception that was returned for the game winning touchdown. In the 12
games following the 24 17 loss to Utah, Rudock threw 18 touchdowns and just 6 interceptions.
The Wolverines quarterback finished the season with more than 3,000 yards through the air,
completing nearly 65 percent of his passes. Harbaugh s first year in Ann Arbor, Mich. was
nothing short of spectacular, especially considering it followed the Wolverines disappointing 5 7
campaign in 2014. However, former Michigan head coach Brady Hoke s recruiting job shouldn t be

Early Twentieth-Century Immigration Effects
Effects of Immigration in the twentieth century
I.Moehling, Carolyn, and Anne Morrison Piehl. IMMIGRATION, CRIME, AND
INCARCERATION IN EARLY TWENTIETH CENTURY AMERICA*. Demography, 1 Nov. 2009.

A.The article is really focusing on whether immigrants affected the crime rate. The standalone
theories in the start of the article suggest they did increase the crime rate, but with no hard proof. As
the article develops deeper, facts and biased opinion come through and display that the immigrants
did not affect the crime rate in the early twentieth century.

I learned that employers would hire native born workers over immigrants workers, except none
of them actually apply for the job. They are ashamed of the job, because the low level job has a
status about it and is called an immigrant job. This taking away the argument that natives can t
get entry level jobs due to immigrants in high populated areas. So, the Natives are just unwilling
to do the entry level jobs, because of status and low wages. The weak point is the fact that entry
level jobs are a great way to get easy level experience. The strong point of this article, is when it
talks about employers feeling immigrants are best suited or most appropriate for entry level jobs,
this being said, the employers have a stronger desire to hire the immigrants over the natives. The
weak point is the fact that entry level jobs are a great way to get easy level experience, though it
will help the progress of the career journey, it did not correlate well enough to the main point of the
argument.
The effects of immigrations to the urban culture of America had numerous outcomes, whether
immigrants effected the crime rates, whether they reduced support for social policies such as
welfare, and whether immigrants affected the career path of native born population. The articles
proved that immigrants have little to no effect on crime rates. They proved that they don t create a
loss of public support for social policies. They also proved, that immigrants don t directly affect the

Pros And Cons Of Technology Based Society
With the world we live in today, it s not a secret that we are moving towards a more technological
based society. Just like with other aspects of life, there are pros and cons to this transition. First
off, with technology becoming more of a necessity in today s world, more people and businesses
rely on this for their daily lives and operations. For example, according to (Schiffer, 2017), a casino
used an internetconnected fishtankto help keep track of the tank s temperature, cleanliness, and
food. The article goes on to tell how the casino s information was hacked by hackers accessing to
the fish tank. Personally, I was amazed by how the hackers could hack an entire casino, through
one fish tank. On the other hand, a technology based world can also make life easier. For example,
Amazon has now begun to use robots in their warehouses to sort and pick items. Although this may
threaten some employee s jobs, these machines are easier to operate and can be monitored more
closely than an employee. The fish tank in the casino and the robots that Amazon use are classified
as the Internet of Things.
According to (Cornish, 2017), the internet of things refers to electronic devices that transmits
information back and forth of the internet. These items include but are not limited to Fitbits and
Amazon Echo with Alexa. I personally own an Amazon Echo and I can say that I love using it.
Using only your voice, it can play music, call someone, or even search the Internet. With the

Virginity And Its Effect On Society
The general topic of the film How to Lose Your Virginity was based on what is virginity. Even
though virginity is defined as the state of never having had sexual intercourse. A virgin is someone
who has never had sex. But sex is defined differently by different people. A lot of people think that
women and men lose their virginitythe first time they have penis in vaginaintercourse. But this
definition is really limited because it leaves lots of people and other types of sexout of the picture.
The being of the film opened up to questions and sracazime. Also keeping an open mind when
watching the film because everyone has their own definition of virginity. How people define
virginity is based on one s up bring and religious view. Therese Schechter uses this film as a
groundbreaker for people around the world to get a better understanding. To how other people
defined virginity and what it means to them. Therese discussed some facts on how, when and
why people lose their virginity is it love, peer pressure from friend because everyone is having
sex. Peer pressure is one of the most important roles forces that teenage feel the need to have sex
because their friends are doing it also and it s makes them cool. Having something to talk about
with friends and not feeling like the odd one out. Some people will only lose their virginity only
after getting married and some lose it before. Being able to lose your virginity when you re ready is
the best way to lose it. When is it

Block Schedule
As a student who has participated in high school sports and taken multiple AP and honors level
classes, I know the challenges that accompany the standard school schedule. Practices and games
for the basketball team took up over three hours of my time six days every week. During school
days, I had to leave my fifth period early when I had games, taking away from my valuable
learning time. This forced me to try to learn the material that I had missed during the time I was
participating in an event that allowed me to represent my school district. This, accompanied by the

According to a U.S. News report, the top two schools in California are Whitney High School and
Stockton Collegiate International Secondary School. When I looked over their schedules, I
found that both of these schools follow a block schedule and, while it may seem like a distant
goal, these schools represent the possible advancement of the LCHS district if given the
opportunity to explore the block schedule. Dr. Nesa Sasser of the Hearst Newspaper, recently
wrote an article about the benefits and downfalls of the block schedule. She wrote that, by
starting a block period schedule, teachers will be able to plan lessons more effectively, connect
with their students on a deeper level, and there will be better time management. During block
periods, teachers become less limited in how they plan their lesson. They are able to go in depth
about concepts that are important and are given time to give examples to further the students
comprehension of these topics. Using these examples, teachers are then able to see where the
class is falling short, and reteach confusing lessons, allowing for a greater understanding of the
overall subject. By decreasing the amount of classes per day, students would then be able to focus
on the homework they are given for their next classes, reducing the amount of homework they have
to complete and the information that needs to be learned for that specific night. Students will also
be able to go to sleep earlier, increasing overall health and focus during class, providing long term

Examples Of Literary Devices In The House On Mango Street
Literary devices may be used to add more dimension and description to writing, but they can also
show multiple characters perspectives, too. These perspectives can portray insights on characters
that show true personalities. In The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros, certain examples
of literary devices are strategically used to do so. The story includes different vignettes that guides
through the main character s, Esperanza s life. Each vignette illuminates Esperanza s problems and
outlooks about race, gender, economic status, age, and society as a whole. Using a variety of
literary devices, such as figurative language, sensorydetails, comparisons, and allusions, Cisneros

One example is when she talks to Alicia about their homes. Before they talk, Esperanza states
that Alicia gave Esperanza a bag with the word GUADALAJARA stitched onto it, which is
home for Alicia, and one day she will go back there (106). Here, Esperanza contrasts her
temporary home with Alicia s permanent one. While Alicia has an actual home where she can
live for the rest of her life; Esperanza doesn t and continuously moves to her different homes .
By comparing her home, she is implying that she wants a home where she can settle and be
happy, not like the one on Mango Street. This ultimately shows that she s not satisfied with her
current lifestyle and wants for a better life. Another comparison is when she compares her age
and gender with an older man. In the vignette The First Job , she lands a job at a photo developer
studio where she hides from the other men and women at lunch time because she is scared of
them looking at her. Subsequently, she meets a man who says it s his birthday and asks for a
tiny birthday kiss, and she thinks I thought I would just because he was so old... he grabs my
face with both hands and kisses me hard on the mouth (55). Here, Esperanza compares her age
and gender with the actions that the older man does. She is working a normal day, then
randomly a guy comes up and kisses her directly, without her consent. By showing this example
of an old man in the workplace, she is basically stating men, especially older ones, are dangerous
by sexually harassing young women such as herself. This means that she doesn t visualize men as
people who she will marry and live a happy life with, but people who are filled with evil. Through
comparing and contrasting Esperanza with other characters, a deeper sense of understanding of

Truth and the Historian Main argument This is both an introduction to the book and an essay

that World War I has become a fashion and a fad, and, while there is nothing wrong with the topic
being widely discussed, historians should be careful in using research and analyzing historical
topics. The introduction outlines the sources of the conflict that later was known as the Great War.
All of the events: hostilities between the great powers, competition for the sea, and expansionism:
were what has led to that conflict. But Lafore also argues that no cause can be singled out as the

Differences Between Modern And Modern Society
In evaluating contemporary society, it becomes immediately apparent that men and women remain
on unequal footing. Lingering inequities still exist because, despite the virtues which both offer,
each differs from the other insignificant ways. Modern research indicates that these two genders not
only have extreme biological differences different approaches in how they communicate with the
world around them. Specifically, they exhibit differences in how they interact with others, how they
express their emotions, and, on a physical level, they even differ in how they perceive pain.
Importantly, such differences do not necessarily mark one genderas better than the other. In fact,
these differences are necessary and our continued existence depends on them. These unique
contrasts compliment and parallel one other and parallel in a way of specific design that
enhances the complex beauty of every civilization that has ever existed. Our current society has
a problem we strive for every aspect of personal and professional life to be objectively equal and
fair. Marriage now has to be altered to whatever combination some people desire so it isn t
considered discriminatory, employers are forced into employing an equal amount of both genders
or else chance lawsuits or other legal actions that could destroy their business. Our society has truly
failed us because they do not understand the nature of men and women. We place standards on

Duality In Oku s Use Of Language
One common emblem of duality throughout the novel has been the use of language. As a
culturally diverse city, there are various forms in which English is spoken, from street slang to
native accents. A particular example includes the way that Jamal spoke to Carla after his arrest.
Carla mentions that he has different ways of speaking and this was the least pleasing to her.
Another such instance if this emblem occurs when Oku attempts to apologize to Jackie for calling
her German boyfriend, Reiner, a Nazi boy (Brand 48). Jackie responds to Oku s implicit affection

Jackie hadn t used profanity throughout this statement. Later on in the novel, we also realize that

In 2002, the Swedish Conscripts study reported an increased risk of schizophrenia in individuals
who used cannabis (Zammit et al, 2002). In addition, the simultaneous presentation of cannabis use
and depressive symptoms is relatively common (Zammit et al, 2002). Habitually, cannabis
becomes either a form of substance abuse or a form of self medication. One research study
hypothesized that cannabis increases levels of interferongamma, which inhibits the activity of
aromatase, the enzyme that converts androgens to estrogen. This in turn creates a deficiency in

Non Marxic Research Paper
The term non toxic is a broad term, so for my finishing essay I chose non toxic finishes (children
s toys and fruit bowls) to narrow it down, non toxic finishes for thousands of years, have been
evolving. But if you want to use a finish for a surface that will be coming into contact with food or
being played with by children, it s important to use one that s non toxic.
For instance you can actually make your own non toxic finish at home using simple supplies you
can buy at any store. But you can also buy finishes like oils that are food grade, most of these will
consist of tree nuts. Oil finishes are made of mostly tree nuts and other seeds from plants and

The beetle then produces a resin which dries and hardens into a covering called lac. Then the
newly made lac is collected smashed washed and is dried. Once it is finished it is drawn and
becomes thin sheets of done shellac. Shellac can come in a variety of colours, it can come in clear,
amber, blonde, garnet, and orange.
But there are some pros and cons for every one of those and more for example, going back to
tung oil it s a natural oil that seals quite well and is absolutely gorgeous, but there are cons to oils
as well like tung oil is expensive and needs to be mixed with either a citrus thinner or turpentine.
Walnut oil is a natural oil from the walnut tree its natural and easy to apply. As well it conditions
and protects with a nice aroma. But there are also cons to this type along with almond oil it can be
expensive and people potentially could have allergies to them.
Another one is linseed oil, linseed oil is made from flax seeds. It is a good penetrating oil that like
other oils it also leaves behind a yellowish tone. If you are going to use this oil make sure to avoid
boiled and double boiled linseed oil for children s toys, because it can contain metal particles a well

Meditation Session At The Vajradhara Buddhist Center
I am very excited about this field experience. It has been the one I have been looking forward to
all semester. I chose to attend an Introduction to Meditation session at the Vajradhara Buddhist
Center. I chose this for my Religious Service because I have always wondered what the teachings
of Buddhism are. The Vajradhara Center offers these introduction sessions every Wednesday at 7
p.m. I went to the Week 1 session on November 4th, the first Wednesday of the month. I found out
about this session just by googling Buddhist centers Charlotte, NC . This center has many great
reviews on various websites, so I thought it was a great fit. About to have the experience of going
to a Buddhist Center, I think I am really expecting to enjoy this session, mostly because I have
always been intrigued by the teachings and morals of Buddha and how they can be achieved
through meditation. I have grown up non religious, which I think makes this experience more
interesting because I have nothing to compare it to. I expect this session to be sort of intimidating
at first because it is a new experience. I also believe that I will not be very comfortable, at first,
while meditating. Through research, I hope to find out ways to adjust and to fully understand why
meditation is important in Buddhism. Most importantly, I am excited to attend this session.
Background Research
Meditation is used for many other reasons than for religious purposes. The main idea is to generate

Heavy Metals And Its Effects
1.Introduction
Heavy metals and their salts (Cu, Zn, Hg, Pb, Co, Ni,) are widespread industrial pollutants. In the
waters they come from natural sources (rocks, the surface layers of soil and groundwater), the
wastewater of many industrial enterprises and rain (polluted with smoke emissions). Heavy metals,
as trace elements, are constantly encountered in natural waters and aquatic bodies depending on the
geochemical conditions.
Heavy metals are quite stable and cannot be destroyed. Entering the ponds, they are included in the
cycling of matter and subjected to various transformations. Inorganic compounds are rapidly
solubilized in water and transferred into poorly soluble hydroxides, carbonates, sulfides and
phosphates. Later, these insoluble products settle down and contaminate the bottom sediments.
Under the influence of living organisms (bacteria, fungi and others) mercury, tin, and arsenic
undergo methylation, becoming more toxic alkyl compound. Moreover, metals can be accumulated
in various organisms and incorporated in the food chain and cause poisoning.
This project focuses on the elimination of cobalt (II) metal ions from contaminated waters. Even
though Co (II) appears to be one of the essential elements to human body at low concentrations,
when cobalt is too concentrated; it may damage human body and may cause diseases such as
asthma and pneumonia1. Cobalt pollution may be caused by many alloys (super alloys in gas

Goulburn Valley Industry Analysis
Introduction
Within the Murray Darling Basin, Goulburn Valley is one of the major fruit production regions in
Australia (Libby Dixon 2011). 35% of the fruits and vegetables in Australia are grown in this region
due to the fertile soils and ideal climate (Hume Regional Management Forum, Department of
Planning and Community Development Urban Development Division 2010). In addition, the
establishment of SPC Ardmona has resulted in the significant growth of economy and employment
within the region (Department of Agriculture 2011).
However, due to economic issues SPC Ardmona has reduced fruits demand from the fruitgrowers

Velocity would not have a tendency to decrease, as it does in the corona, by virtue of
multidirectional collisions to slow the atoms down because of the increased spacing between
atoms; therefore, temperature would not be decreased by these collisions. Multidirectional
collisions have some cooling effect on gas or plasma because the velocities are added by
vectoring. For example, some of the atoms can have equal velocity for travel in opposite directions
and on a collision course. When this collision happens all momentum is lost by both atoms and they
are no longer in motion. With no motion their temperatures are cooled dramatically and now absorb
heat from the surrounding plasma and are again set into

How Did Abraham Lincoln s Influence On Religion
Introduction
Abraham Lincoln has been remembered, both in his own lifetime and thereafter, by the nickname,
Honest Abe. His characteristic trustworthiness, nevertheless, has not necessarily permitted
historians to easily interpret all aspects of his personal life and political career. One such topic that
has been somewhat shrouded in mystery is Abraham Lincoln s religious views. The prolific
American theologian, Reinhold Neibuhr once referred to Lincoln as unquestionably our most
religious president, who was superior in depth and purity to those, not only of the political leaders
of the day, but of the religious leaders of the era. [i] On the other hand, a contemporary of Lincoln,
William Herndon, attempted to combat the idea that Abraham Lincoln changed his views about
believing in a personal God by dismissing the existence of any evidence for such a claim.[ii]
However, Wayne C. Temple s more recent tome, Abraham Lincoln: From Skeptic to Prophet, has
compiled scores of evidence to outline the religious views of Abraham, which were by no means
static throughout ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lincoln had moved away from the naturalistic Doctrine of Necessity for several years, and at the
beginning of his presidency his view of providence might be best understood by the phrase, divine
assistance. In other words, God was available to intervene in the affairs of mankind, contrasting
with the impersonal Doctrine of Necessity, but the relationship between Creator and created was
not quite Calvinistic in the sense that the world is to be seen as God s glorious theatre where God s
will surpasses man s plans.[xxvi] Nicholas Parillo substantiates this claim by stating, Literary
analysis reveals that, even though Lincoln always subscribed to the same technical definition of
providence, the role that this concept played in his rhetoric underwent a gradual but dramatic
change during his presidency. [xxvii] Lincoln, in his acceptance letter for the Republican

Success is a funny thing. Some define success as having a lot of money or a high power career.
Others define it as how happy a person is within their life. No matter how success is defined,
Margaret Mead s view on success applies. But while we often rejoice in the success of people far
removed from ourselves people who work in another profession, live in another community, or are
endowed with a talent that we do not especially want for ourselves we tend to regard the successof

Exploring Traumatic Brain Injury in Children Essay
Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a leading cause of death and disability among children and
adolescents (Yeates, 2005). The Center for Disease and Control (2010) reported an estimated 1.7
million individuals sustaining TBI annually with 51% of these injuries occurring during periods
of cerebral development. Children (0 4 years), older adolescents (15 19 years) and older adults
(65+ years) are most likely to sustain TBI (CDC, 2010). Brain injuries often lead to severe,
pervasive, and potentially irreversible impairments in one s neurological, cognitive, emotional, and
social functioning (e.g., Wilde et al, 2012; Yeates, 2005). This analysis will examine the etiology,

Neuroimaging scans play a cardinal role in TBI diagnosis, prognosis, and deciding what treatments
to give. CT is the preferred method of assessment on admission to determine structural damage and
to detect (developing) intracranial hematomas (Maas, Stocchetti, Bullock, 2008). The preferred test
is the computed tomography (CT) scan due to its speed, accuracy, and accessibility. The magnetic
resonance imaging (MRI) exhibits more details than CT scan. MRI scan can be more advantageous
than the CT scan as it is able to detect other TBI symptoms such as diffuse axonal injury (DAI).
Conversely, MRI is usually not the preferred method in emergency setting due to its inability to
detect brain hemorrhage and fractures, general inaccessibility, and lengthiness of the procedure.
Childhood TBI
Previous studies expressed concern in children s TBI acquisition in their developing brain. Wilde et
al (2012) explains that the neurocognitive and neurobehavioral morbidity is particularly significant
with acquired child brain injury because the injury disrupts the neural maturation and development
(Catroppa et al., 2008). Researchers hypothesized that childhood TBI potentially disrupt the
development of certain brain regions through pathological changes. Beauchamp et al (2011)
conducted a study examining two main structural differences thought to be vulnerable in childhood
TBI: the amygdala and the hippocampus. In this study, the hippocampus and the amygdala were

The Portrayal Analysis Of John Conroy s Belfast Diary
Conroy s analysis of Northern Ireland is, in the simplest of terms, refreshing. Convoy s attention
to detail and analysis when describing Jimmy Barr s dealing with the Housing Executive s, when
discussing the hunger strikes, and when discussing the plight of those who live in the Divis Flats
all support the notion that Conroy has an understanding of Northern Ireland, even though he s an
outsider. John Conroy s Belfast Diary is an example of how an outsider can provide a reliable
analysis into the communal violence that has consumed Northern Ireland. I believe that Conroy s
outsider perspective, combined with his choice to immerse himself into the culture of Belfast

His immersion into the culture of Northern Ireland made him less of an outsider in terms of
ability to gain information, but he still could use his outsider perspective in analyzing what he
obtained. Conroy s choice to live in the ghetto was just the beginning of what made him
equipped to tell the story of Ireland. Equally important to immersing oneself in Belfast is having
the ability to not take sides, or favor one group or ideology or person over the other, a challenge
that Conroy undertook. Throughout Belfast Diary, Conroy works through dense and complex
information regarding the various police forces, paramilitaries, and British military groups that
reside in the North with the Catholics and Protestants. While reading Conroy s pages long
analysis of the variety of groups, it becomes clear that these groups within Northern Ireland cannot
be deemed good or bad . Labeling a group with such complexities would be falling into the trap of
being an ill equipped outsider. Rather, Conroy implies that one needs to develop an understanding
that each group serves a purpose for the community that it s serving. Conroy explains that each
group benefits the community they re serving almost equally as much as it is disadvantaged by the
group. In other words, Conroy explains that the relationship is give and take, it s not something that

NSA Surveillance: Is safety worth losing freedom?
Recently there is debate about if it is okay for the United States government to spy on citizens using

not keep the NSA surveillance going because it hurts the public more than it keeps the public safe.

The And Consequences Of The 2008 Economic Crisis
There were many causes and consequences of the 2008 economic meltdown from different groups.
Parties such as banks, individuals, and the government were all responsible for causing the
economic meltdown. One factor was an overdependence on credit (Andrews 2009:1). In addition,
struggling businesses relying on the banks also contributed to the 2008 economic meltdown (Gross
2009:18). Also, lax government policies like the Community Reinvestment Act(CRA) contributed
to the 2008 economic crisis (Gross 2009:30 31). These were the factors that led to the 2008

As a result, consumers were able to buy items that they were unable to afford. Cars were another
popular good that consumers purchased. Daniel Gross writes: Americans bought 16.8 million
cars in 2002, and would buy nearly 17 million cars per year for each of the following three years.
Car industry sales, which accounted for between 15 percent and 20 percent of US retail sales,
had always depended upon the availability of credit (Gross 2009:42). This points to the fact that
consumers took advantage of credit in order to buy cars as it enabled the consumers to take out
money in order to pay for a car if they did not have enough of their own money. However, easy
access to loans led to dire consequences for individuals. Based on the article by Edmund Andrews,

The first hate crime acts date back to 1969 when police raided the gay bar Stonewall Inn in New

there. A little less than a year later a gayman, Howard Efland, checked into a Los Angeles hotel

One of the most famous acts occurred on November 27, 1978. Harvey Milk, an openly gay San

What she sees is the white icing of the cake that represents marriage, but not the red food coloring
that represents love. These two quotes both exhibit red being used as a symbol for love and passion.
Laura Esquivel also uses the color white, which represents apathy to contrast the feeling for love,
represented by the color red. Tita stood as if in a trance, starting at the whiteness of the sheets,
only for a few seconds. But long enough to cause a sort of blindness, wherever she looked she

Rosaura, who is the bride seemed like a white snowy ghost to Tita because Pedro did not love her

Increasing Data Center Efficiency By Reallocation of Virtual Machines Dynamically Abstract
Present operating system virtualization skill allows the live migration of virtual servers between
physical hosts after the primary consolidation. This provides latest avenue for performance
optimization. The paper aims on improving the data centers efficiency by dynamic reallocation
ie.in response to demand changes of virtual machines between physical servers. It allows to
estimate the reduction in the number of physical servers required to host the workload. Keywords:
Live Migration, Operating system virtualization, dynamic reallocation. Introduction Traditional
data centers consist of a large number of physical machines, each executing a single instance of
an operating system. For example, a certain group of servers supports email function and executes
Linux with an appropriate set of programs for email handling. Another group of servers may run
Windows providing access for remote users to office applications. Installing new application
usually means purchasing a new physical server and installing a new instance of an operating
system and the application. Capacity of the servers needs to be planned to handle peak loads of
applications resulting in a relatively low utilization leading to wasteful power consumption and
maintenance costs. A popular way of addressing this problem is server consolidation. It is an
optimization approach that leverages technique called operating

team of sled dogs. Eventually, he becomes the leader of a wolf pack. Naturalism takes place
during a time in America known as the Gilded Age. During the Gilded Age, the ideas of Social
Darwinism take hold. Social Darwinism is a term scholars use to describe the practice of
misapplying the biological evolutionary language of Charles Darwin to politics, the economy, and
society ( Social Darwinism in the Gilded Age ). But how is London s novel a zeitgeist of
Naturalism? Jack Londons The Call of the Wildis a zeitgeist of Naturalism with its usage of... Show

It is during this time that call of the wild strengthens in Buck, and he goes into the forest and
befriends a wolf. When Buck returns, he finds out that Yeehat Indians have killed everyone at the
campsite. As a result of Buck s sheer rage at finding Thornton dead, he kills some of the Yeehats
and then becomes the leader of a wolf pack.
According to the article American Naturalism: A Webliography and E Anthology, determinism is
a common theme in Naturalism. It is the belief that actions and events are determined by outside
forces. Atavism can arguably be one of these forces, as it is the tendency to revert back to the
primitive ( Atavism ). Another theme in Naturalism is Darwinism, which stems into Social
Darwinist beliefs. One of their beliefs is in laissez faire capitalism, which is a type of economy in
which the government does not interfere with businesses with matters such as tariffs and
regulations. They advocated it because they believed that government should not interfere in the
survival of the fittest by helping the poor... ( Social Darwinism in the Gilded Age ). The survival
of the fittest plays a big role in Social Darwinism because they believed that businessmen and
others who were economically and socially successful were so because they were biologically and
socially naturally the fittest and that ...they reasoned that the poor were naturally weak and unfit... (

Cultural Differences and Intercultural Communication...
When examining my own cultural identity it has occurred to me that many of the things that define
my own cultural identity are that of Majority groups, however it would seem that I have just as
many if not more Minority group identity factors shaping me ever so slightly within the majority
boundaries.
For example at first look I am a Married male with a predominantly Anglo Saxon heritage. However
upon close inspection one can begin to notice the red hues within my complexion these are subtle
hints to a much less dominant cultural history.
Many members of one side of my family strongly identify with our Native American heritage; as a

My interviewee I chose was a man I initially met in the workplace and come to find out our kids
ended up going to school together. Our relationship had been an interesting one from the start when
we first met he decided to share some of his religious identity to me.
Our book defines religious identity as a sense of belonging to a religious group (Martin
Nakayama, 2011). Oddly enough we were on lunch break at work and I was hungry that day he
approached me and commented on how my chicken smelt good. I had noticed over the past week
or so he had not eaten lunch at all so I offered him some of my chicken.
He politely declined and explained to me that he was practicing Ramadan and that he only at late
at night and early before the sun came up. At first being somewhat ignorant of religion I asked why
he explained it was something that followers of Islam do. In a business article it is explained that in
Dubai visitors are expected to practice in the same fasting ritual or face punishment including fines
and jail time (McGinley, 2011). While laws can vary by country there are some exemptions to the
fasting requirements and often include conditions such as menstruation, illness, older age,
pregnancy, and breast feeding (El Zibdeh, 2009).

How Did The Industrial Revolution Affect China s Tea Trade
As one of the most popular and oldest beverage, tea has shown its splendor whilst making its
mark in history. Tea significantly impacted global trade over the past few centuries, spreading
from China to specifically, Great Britain. The tea trade had a major social impact among women,
who broke away from their domestic lives and explored society to become more socially involved.
In addition, teaimpacted Britain s economy by promoting industrialization which was thriving in
Britain. Meanwhile, Chinafaced great setbacks as dominance over the tea trade was taken by the
British East India Company, having a negative economic impact. The tea trade also politically

A major change was the way in which tea was consumed and served. The Chinese originally
drank tea in its simplicity, enhancing the natural flavors of the brew. They drank the tea in
handless cups that could be held without the dangers of getting burnt since Chinese tea was
served lukewarm. However, the British did not follow the Chinese tradition and rather, changed it
to meet their own cultural standards. The British preferred to flavor their tea with sugar and milk
so that the drink was sweetened, less bitter, and creamier. They drank out of cups with handles,
known as teacups, because British tea had to be served hot since that is the condition in which
sugar melts the best. In addition, the saucer and teaspoon were created to accommodate the British
s way of drinking tea (Dolin 53). Such changes in tradition occurred because the British were more
open to foreign goods such as sugar, whereas China tried to isolate themselves from foreign
products, because the Chinese believed it would not benefit them (Standage). The common British
people was also influenced by Queen Catherine of Braganza who introduced the custom of sipping
tea in small cups, teacups, and created an element of prestige around tea that all of the aristocrats
wanted to take part in (Standage). Another continuity was the hosting of events that focused on the
essence of tea. The British began to

surprise. Sophia Western and Lady Bellaston are both secretly fighting for the love of the same man.
They both like Mr. Jones. However, they refuse to let each other know about their own feelings
towards this man. Although they are both wealthy women, they differ in their appearance, attitudes,

with even when her father in forcing her to do so. Lady Bellaston, however, is the total opposite;
she appears to be a fine honorable lady when she is in fact a corrupt widow. She corruptively treats
younger man of her craving with money, expensive wear, and special attentions. These men in
return have to satisfy the sexual thirst of the older Bellaston.
Sophia is a conservative girl from the country; she in not used to the liberal life of London. In
contrast, Lady Bellaston has no limits when it comes to libertinism. For instance, in one part of the
novel, she hires actors to perform very sexually inclined show at her mansion.
During the erotic play, Sophia leaves the room as she tells Bellaston who follows her up the stair
how insulted and humiliated she felt to have observed such a coarse show.
It s obvious that both women want Tom Jones, however their purpose with him is very different. To
Sophia, Tom means her lifetime sweetheart for whom she is willing to sacrifice her family and
estate.
In contrast, to Lady Bellaston he s just another of her sex toys, with the difference that she s
obsessed with him because he s probably the only man who has rejected her and admitted to her
face to be totally in love with another woman. Beyond that, Sophia is a pure woman who

Industrialization in Ireland
When Ireland began to industrialize in the 1960s and 1970s, why did it mostly occur in rural
Ireland and what were the consequences for the rural residence?
Industrialisation in the 1960s and 1970s.
When most people in the world think of Ireland, they imagine green fields with farm animals, old
cottages, stone walls, rocky roads, people riding around on horse back and men working in the
bogs. However Ireland actually has one of the quickest fastest economies in the world. Rural
Industrialisation played a huge role in this growth. Industrialisation is a very important part of
Irish history. It was a new beginning for the Irish people living in rural areas and it created a
change in gender composition within the labour force. Women were... Show more content on

This also affected family relationships as the women no longer experienced the world solely with
their families. Women would usually be given land from their fathers to build a family home
however with them now receiving their own wage from the factories some would build their
houses elsewhere with their spouses to maintain their independence from their fathers. Their
independence also caused family diversity on religious views as women weren t following the
traditional Irish way of life. As they were not under supervision, they could travel to other towns to
buy condoms, going against their religious faith. Diversity developed between the entrepreneurial
middle class and the working class in the rural areas as there was differences in wages, education
and jobs. This meant that the interclass was blurred creating a class less society.
Hiring of women had some consequences for trade unions. Since the 1970s we have seen the
increasing of trade unions militancy in the state sector leading to them declining in the private
sector. This is because of their lack of attention to the needs and rights of the women working in
these factories. Three ways the trade union could have provided for these women working in the
factories are equal pay, crГЁches and maternity

Write An Argumentative Essay On Bulldogs
Humans and dogs have shared what can be called a sacred bond. Throughout history, one can see
many leaders have had dogs by their side. The English bulldog has grown in popularity over the
years, which has encouraged people to buy an English bulldog before even researching about
them. In order to become a good owner, one must be aware of the medical costs, price for the dog
itself, and how to properly care for the dog. While one may think it is easy to own a bulldog, the
breed is known to have major health conditions. Many bulldogs are known to have shorter
lifespans compared to other dog breeds. A large majority of bulldogs require a soft palate
surgery in order to even breathe properly. Elongated soft palates narrows the airways in bulldogs,
causing increased airway resistance. This, in the worse case, can lead to heart failure or even
death. Bulldogs also tend to have problems with bones and joins. Chondrodysplasia, a structural
defect found in bulldogs, causes the legs in bulldogs to stop or slow down and also makes their
backs lengthen. One health... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

at a cheaper price, or one can buy a more expensive bulldog that has fewer medical issues. Even a

bulldog usually is priced from a range of 1,500 to 4,000 dollars. The better the breeder, the more
expensive the dog. On top of that, the owner has to buy special insurance for a bulldog because
of all its health issues. They also have special diets and specific food allergies, which means that the
owner has to buy special bulldog food to fit their needs. Bulldogs all have expensive and special

I Heard A Fly Buzz When I Died

I Heard a Fly Buzz When I Died by Emily Dickinson
Emily Dickinson was likely influenced by epitaphs on tombstones. She uses floral language like
Frances Osgood, and did not write the way the general public thought women should write, like
the way of Helen Hunt Jackson. It is possible that is the reason she did not publish her works
(Petrino). In the poem I heard a fly buzz when I died , Emily Dickinson uses metaphors in order to
say that everyone dies and it is not always the most desirable way to die. Emily Dickinson was part
of the American Transcendentalist movement. The word transcendental means character, thought,
or action, so it is no surprise the movement was called Transcendentalism. The transcendentalists
often worked together, unlike poets from other movements (webexhibits.org). The
transcendentalists, particularly the women, often wrote about death and many people wonder
why (Noble). The poem I Heard a Fly Buzz When I Died is about a person lying on their death
bed after having a will written. The persona, the person telling the story as a narrator, has been
distracted by a fly.
Emily Dickinson used metaphors, foreshadowing, and personification in I Heard a fly Buzz When I
Died. A metaphor is a comparison of two unlike things. An extended metaphor is a metaphor that
extends through stanzas or even through the entire poem. The poem is an extended metaphor,
comparing the random, ugly fly and an

  • 2. Two Tough Calls Case Study 1.A. How would you describe the HR practices and beliefs of the program manager, the narrator of this case? For the most part, I believe the narrator had a good outlook with her HR practices and beliefs. She understood the company did not always do the right thing, but she wanted to make sure she did the right thing to make her a better manager. The narrator had the ability to be honest with the people, which would help to make the department stronger. There is not need to lie to people to make them happy. If people need additional training or development, then they should be aware of what is expected and what they need to improve. It is better to be up front with the people, because people that are lied to believe they are doing better ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Adding this step would have shown the company they did not have a full time position available for Phil. The company still could have used his expertise in the field, but it would have either been with a part time position or a contract position. The company must ensure they are bringing people on that are able to perform the job required. It will not help the company to add people with little or no experience. This will actually hinder the performance of the groups. 3. A. Who s to blame for the program manager s work difficulties with Terry top management, HR department, prior managers, or the program manager in this case? Discuss. The blame for the program manager s work difficulties with Terry are a direct result of the handling of Terry by the previous program manager. While some people would say the blame should lie on the upper management for hiring Terry, the previous manager was the one that constantly gave Terry above average grades on performance reviews. If the previous manager was giving Terry above average grades on performance reviews due to upper management, then I would say it is both the previous manager and upper management s fault. The previous manager had an obligation to ensure the performance grades were in line with the performance of the individual. If the manager did grade accordingly, and the upper management changed the grading, then it is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Verdimillious Spell The two spells/charms we learned in this lesson were the Verdimillious and the Spongify charms. Verdimillious is a spell that can be used to momentarily put a target at bay so you can either use another spell or get away quickly. That is really the only time this spell is necessary besides when you want to illuminate a room. The pronunciation of this spell is vur duh MILL ee ous. To cast, you slash your wand in forward motion. It shoots out green sparks or electrical energy. It also has another purpose, it can also be used to light up a room. To do so, you wave your wand in a circular motion above your head and you need to make sure you re just aiming at air. The light from the verdimillious charm can reveal entryways and other ... • 4. Training Managers to Improve Employee Retention Training Managers to Improve Employee Retention The goal of virtually every business operating today is essentially the same: to make money. When it comes to the fine art of turning a profit, there are as many different factors that influence whether or not a company makes money as there are ways to make it. All successful companies begin by hiring people who best fit the position, and in the modern day world of business, a considerable amount of time, effort, or money is invested in this endeavor. Once a stellar candidate has been hired, however, it does the company no good if, six months down the road, they quit because the working environment turned out not to be the right fit for them. Employees may leave a company for many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Employees were asked to rank certain aspects of their jobs from 1 to 10 by importance. Managers were then asked to rank the same job aspects according to what they thought was most important to their employees. The results show that discrepancies between manager opinion and employee fact have existed for decades (Employee Retention Headquarters, 2001). Tools of the Training Trade Clearly, there is a need for managers to become more involved in retention, and fortunately there is hope for companies that are struggling with high rates of turnover related to management problems. A variety of organizations offer training that is designed to help managers perform better, in the form of seminars, multimedia training presentations, and in house training programs, to name a few. Some companies also offer training that can be done exclusively online, mitigating such costs as travel, lodging, lost productivity, and other expenses that are inherent in sending employees away to a training seminar. Management training can also be tailored to meet the specific needs of a business to maximize its benefits. Federal Express, the global shipping company, found that training oriented toward empowering their front line managers to meet the needs of subordinates themselves without turning to the HR department, best meshed with the business model of their operations in Asia. • 5. Defining Victory Of The Modern Age Of Warfare Words Matter: Defining Victory in the Modern Age of Warfare The United States has not stopped winning wars but the nature of both war and victory has changed. Adjusting to an evolving geopolitical environment, since World War II the U.S. has changed the reasons it employs military force and the types of wars it wages. Taken within the context of the each conflict s era, the U.S. has met with mixed results in each conflict but ultimately has emerged victorious. Defining Victory What is victory? In order to understand victory and defeat it is important to consider the national objectives that governed each conflict. Since World War II, the U.S. has participated in five major conflicts (Korea, Vietnam, Dessert Storm, Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan). In each of these conflicts, the U.S. demonstrated military superiority. However, unlike previous wars, these wars resulted in mixed results based on the specific political and military objectives of the time. Korea initiated the policy of containment that defined the Cold Warstruggle between the U.S. and the Soviet Union. While the conflict s objectives changed multiple times, the coalition met the initial objective to prevent the spread of communism on the Korean Peninsula. In Vietnam, while the aim was the same the results were very different. The U.S. was unable to force a political compromise that prevented the fall of Democratic South Vietnam. • 6. Age Of Pericles Research Paper One figure towers over this new democratic state: Pericles. This Age of Athens, which begins either in 462 or 450 or 445 BC and lasts until 408 BC, when Athens is defeated by Sparta, is called the Athenian Age, the Classical Age, or, after its most important political figure, the Age of Pericles. Just about everything that you associate with Greek culture is squeezed into this half century of wealth, energy, creativity, and chauvinism in Athens. All the great works of Greek tragedy and comedy, the plays of Aeschylus, Sophocles, Euripides, and Aristophanes, were written in this time in the city of Athens. • 7. Gertrude Stein s Speech On Deconstruction In Theatre Gertrude Stein on Deconstruction in Theatre In Laura Schultz s speech on Gertrude Stein s plays, she suggests how Stein s deconstruction of dramatic conventions greatly affected contemporary theatre today. She focuses on Stein s deconstruction of the mimetic relationship between the text and performance, as well as the deconstruction of the unity of the dramatic character. Schultz discusses how Stein was inspired by avant garde theatrein Europe, and is now one of the most influential theatre artists (especially in the field of performance art), but is often overlooked in the academe in theatre and performance studies, her plays are rarely read or researched. What is fascinating about Stein s plays is that her language is open to new readings, without preference to one reading... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Art and reality should not be represented through stable and mimetic means only; the transformation from text to performance must also be considered in different terms. While the text is a work of art in its own right, performance should not be limited to just the illustration of the text. The play is a literary genre which implies that there is a performative aspect in all forms of writing and language. She then points out that in a theatrical event, concretizing the play involves space and light, which are more important to a child than the action on the stage. Generally speaking, all the early recollections all a child s feeling of the theater is two things. One which is in a way like a circus that is the general movement and light and air which any theatre has, and a great deal of glitter in the light and a great deal of height in the air, and then there are moments, a very very few moments but still moments. One must be pretty far advance in adolescence before one realizes a whole play. (Stein, Plays, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Macbeth And A Midsummer Night s Dream Analysis Through the many different dynamics that have happened throughout both of these films Macbeth and A Midsummer Night s Dream, both of them have had very different type of dynamics with different characters. When I watched Macbeth and A Midsummer Night s Dream, I found one relationship for each of the films. Most dynamics are provoked by the antagonist s reactions but they aren t really shown. I will be comparing the dynamics in both of the relationships of the two different films as well as the dramatic means by which they are being established by. Throughout the two films there will be differences in both but there will also be similarities for the dramatic means which are being stated. As for the dramatic means that they are being established by, is the way they show how their disagreement and which is the reason that caused it to happen. Therefor the rest of relationships that are happening do happen to have an impact to the two relationships that I will be talking about. This being the case, the two relationships I wanted to talk about was Macbethand Lady Macbethfrom the film Macbeth and from A Midsummer Night s Dream I will be talking about Lysander and Helena. As Macbeth meets up with the three witches, they begin to talk to him and one of the witches predicts that he will be king. At the beginning, Macbeth would respect King Duncan and because he had thought he was going to be King according to the witches. He thought, if he killed King Duncan ... • 10. Coach Jim Harbaugh s Takeover Case Study The Michigan Wolverines first year under new head coach Jim Harbaugh has concluded. With a crushing defeat over the Florida Gators in the Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl, the Wolverines capped an impressive 2015 16 campaign with double digit victories (10 3). Michigan quarterback Jake Rudock threw for 278 yards and three scores in the 41 7 blowout of Florida, showing his development under Harbaugh. Looking for proof of Harbaugh s ability to develop quarterbacks? Look no further than the fifth year Wolverines signal caller this past season. Rudock began the season with an atrocious road performance against Utes in Utah, throwing three picks, including an interception that was returned for the game winning touchdown. In the 12 games following the 24 17 loss to Utah, Rudock threw 18 touchdowns and just 6 interceptions. The Wolverines quarterback finished the season with more than 3,000 yards through the air, completing nearly 65 percent of his passes. Harbaugh s first year in Ann Arbor, Mich. was nothing short of spectacular, especially considering it followed the Wolverines disappointing 5 7 campaign in 2014. IMMIGRATION, CRIME, AND INCARCERATION IN EARLY TWENTIETH CENTURY AMERICA*. Demography, 1 Nov. 2009. Web. . A.The article is really focusing on whether immigrants affected the crime rate. The standalone theories in the start of the article suggest they did increase the crime rate, but with no hard proof. As the article develops deeper, facts and biased opinion come through and display that the immigrants did not affect the crime rate in the early twentieth century. B.I learned that immigration did not directly affect the crime rate in the early twentieth century. It was assumed that they did because the immigrants moved into high traffic, high ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I learned that employers would hire native born workers over immigrants workers, except none of them actually apply for the job. They are ashamed of the job, because the low level job has a status about it and is called an immigrant job. This taking away the argument that natives can t get entry level jobs due to immigrants in high populated areas. So, the Natives are just unwilling to do the entry level jobs, because of status and low wages. The weak point is the fact that entry level jobs are a great way to get easy level experience. The strong point of this article, is when it talks about employers feeling immigrants are best suited or most appropriate for entry level jobs, this being said, the employers have a stronger desire to hire the immigrants over the natives. The weak point is the fact that entry level jobs are a great way to get easy level experience, though it will help the progress of the career journey, it did not correlate well enough to the main point of the argument. The effects of immigrations to the urban culture of America had numerous outcomes, whether immigrants effected the crime rates, whether they reduced support for social policies such as welfare, and whether immigrants affected the career path of native born population. The articles proved that immigrants have little to no effect on crime rates. They proved that they don t create a loss of public support for social policies. First off, with technology becoming more of a necessity in today s world, more people and businesses rely on this for their daily lives and operations. For example, according to (Schiffer, 2017), a casino used an internetconnected fishtankto help keep track of the tank s temperature, cleanliness, and food. The article goes on to tell how the casino s information was hacked by hackers accessing to the fish tank. Personally, I was amazed by how the hackers could hack an entire casino, through one fish tank. On the other hand, a technology based world can also make life easier. For example, Amazon has now begun to use robots in their warehouses to sort and pick items. Although this may threaten some employee s jobs, these machines are easier to operate and can be monitored more closely than an employee. The fish tank in the casino and the robots that Amazon use are classified as the Internet of Things. According to (Cornish, 2017), the internet of things refers to electronic devices that transmits information back and forth of the internet. These items include but are not limited to Fitbits and Amazon Echo with Alexa. I personally own an Amazon Echo and I can say that I love using it. Using only your voice, it can play music, call someone, or even search the Internet. With the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Virginity And Its Effect On Society The general topic of the film How to Lose Your Virginity was based on what is virginity. Even though virginity is defined as the state of never having had sexual intercourse. A virgin is someone who has never had sex. But sex is defined differently by different people. A lot of people think that women and men lose their virginitythe first time they have penis in vaginaintercourse. But this definition is really limited because it leaves lots of people and other types of sexout of the picture. The being of the film opened up to questions and sracazime. Also keeping an open mind when watching the film because everyone has their own definition of virginity. How people define virginity is based on one s up bring and religious view. Therese Schechter uses this film as a groundbreaker for people around the world to get a better understanding. To how other people defined virginity and what it means to them. • 14. Block Schedule As a student who has participated in high school sports and taken multiple AP and honors level classes, I know the challenges that accompany the standard school schedule. Practices and games for the basketball team took up over three hours of my time six days every week. During school days, I had to leave my fifth period early when I had games, taking away from my valuable learning time. This forced me to try to learn the material that I had missed during the time I was participating in an event that allowed me to represent my school district. This, accompanied by the homeworkof all my classes, led to my loss of sleep. According to a U.S. News report, the top two schools in California are Whitney High School and Stockton Collegiate International Secondary School. When I looked over their schedules, I found that both of these schools follow a block schedule and, while it may seem like a distant goal, these schools represent the possible advancement of the LCHS district if given the opportunity to explore the block schedule. Dr. Nesa Sasser of the Hearst Newspaper, recently wrote an article about the benefits and downfalls of the block schedule. She wrote that, by starting a block period schedule, teachers will be able to plan lessons more effectively, connect with their students on a deeper level, and there will be better time management. During block periods, teachers become less limited in how they plan their lesson. They are able to go in depth about concepts that are important and are given time to give examples to further the students comprehension of these topics. Using these examples, teachers are then able to see where the class is falling short, and reteach confusing lessons, allowing for a greater understanding of the overall subject. By decreasing the amount of classes per day, students would then be able to focus on the homework they are given for their next classes, reducing the amount of homework they have to complete and the information that needs to be learned for that specific night. Students will also be able to go to sleep earlier, increasing overall health and focus during class, providing long term ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. Examples Of Literary Devices In The House On Mango Street Literary devices may be used to add more dimension and description to writing, but they can also show multiple characters perspectives, too. These perspectives can portray insights on characters that show true personalities. In The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros, certain examples of literary devices are strategically used to do so. The story includes different vignettes that guides through the main character s, Esperanza s life. Each vignette illuminates Esperanza s problems and outlooks about race, gender, economic status, age, and society as a whole. Using a variety of literary devices, such as figurative language, sensorydetails, comparisons, and allusions, Cisneros truly displays disparate characters perspectives about themselves... Before they talk, Esperanza states that Alicia gave Esperanza a bag with the word GUADALAJARA stitched onto it, which is home for Alicia, and one day she will go back there (106). Here, Esperanza contrasts her temporary home with Alicia s permanent one. While Alicia has an actual home where she can live for the rest of her life; Esperanza doesn t and continuously moves to her different homes . By comparing her home, she is implying that she wants a home where she can settle and be happy, not like the one on Mango Street. This ultimately shows that she s not satisfied with her current lifestyle and wants for a better life. Another comparison is when she compares her age and gender with an older man. In the vignette The First Job , she lands a job at a photo developer studio where she hides from the other men and women at lunch time because she is scared of them looking at her. Subsequently, she meets a man who says it s his birthday and asks for a tiny birthday kiss, and she thinks I thought I would just because he was so old... he grabs my face with both hands and kisses me hard on the mouth (55). Here, Esperanza compares her age and gender with the actions that the older man does. She is working a normal day, then randomly a guy comes up and kisses her directly, without her consent. By showing this example of an old man in the workplace, she is basically stating men, especially older ones, are dangerous by sexually harassing young women such as herself. This means that she doesn t visualize men as people who she will marry and live a happy life with, but people who are filled with evil. The introduction outlines the sources of the conflict that later was known as the Great War. Lingering inequities still exist because, despite the virtues which both offer, each differs from the other insignificant ways. Modern research indicates that these two genders not only have extreme biological differences different approaches in how they communicate with the world around them. Specifically, they exhibit differences in how they interact with others, how they express their emotions, and, on a physical level, they even differ in how they perceive pain. Importantly, such differences do not necessarily mark one genderas better than the other. In fact, these differences are necessary and our continued existence depends on them. These unique contrasts compliment and parallel one other and parallel in a way of specific design that enhances the complex beauty of every civilization that has ever existed. In 2002, the Swedish Conscripts study reported an increased risk of schizophrenia in individuals who used cannabis (Zammit et al, 2002). In addition, the simultaneous presentation of cannabis use and depressive symptoms is relatively common (Zammit et al, 2002). Habitually, cannabis becomes either a form of substance abuse or a form of self medication. One research study hypothesized that cannabis increases levels of interferongamma, which inhibits the activity of aromatase, the enzyme that converts androgens to estrogen. This in turn creates a deficiency in estrogen, a hormone that augments the synthesis of serotonin, thereby creating a deficiency in serotonin characteristic of major depression and suicide (Bovasso, 2001). To paraphrase, cannabis results in lowers serotonin levels in an indivudal and serotonin is necessary for happiness and thwarting depression. The largest risk was seen in subjects reporting use of cannabis on more than 50 occasions (Zammit et al, 2002). In the waters they come from natural sources (rocks, the surface layers of soil and groundwater), the wastewater of many industrial enterprises and rain (polluted with smoke emissions). Heavy metals, as trace elements, are constantly encountered in natural waters and aquatic bodies depending on the geochemical conditions. Heavy metals are quite stable and cannot be destroyed. Entering the ponds, they are included in the cycling of matter and subjected to various transformations. Inorganic compounds are rapidly solubilized in water and transferred into poorly soluble hydroxides, carbonates, sulfides and phosphates. Later, these insoluble products settle down and contaminate the bottom sediments. Under the influence of living organisms (bacteria, fungi and others) mercury, tin, and arsenic undergo methylation, becoming more toxic alkyl compound. Moreover, metals can be accumulated in various organisms and incorporated in the food chain and cause poisoning. This project focuses on the elimination of cobalt (II) metal ions from contaminated waters. His characteristic trustworthiness, nevertheless, has not necessarily permitted historians to easily interpret all aspects of his personal life and political career. One such topic that has been somewhat shrouded in mystery is Abraham Lincoln s religious views. The prolific American theologian, Reinhold Neibuhr once referred to Lincoln as unquestionably our most religious president, who was superior in depth and purity to those, not only of the political leaders of the day, but of the religious leaders of the era. [i] On the other hand, a contemporary of Lincoln, William Herndon, attempted to combat the idea that Abraham Lincoln changed his views about believing in a personal God by dismissing the existence of any evidence for such a claim.[ii] However, Wayne C. CT is the preferred method of assessment on admission to determine structural damage and to detect (developing) intracranial hematomas (Maas, Stocchetti, Bullock, 2008). The preferred test is the computed tomography (CT) scan due to its speed, accuracy, and accessibility. The magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) exhibits more details than CT scan. MRI scan can be more advantageous than the CT scan as it is able to detect other TBI symptoms such as diffuse axonal injury (DAI). Conversely, MRI is usually not the preferred method in emergency setting due to its inability to detect brain hemorrhage and fractures, general inaccessibility, and lengthiness of the procedure. Childhood TBI Previous studies expressed concern in children s TBI acquisition in their developing brain. What she sees is the white icing of the cake that represents marriage, but not the red food coloring that represents love. These two quotes both exhibit red being used as a symbol for love and passion. Laura Esquivel also uses the color white, which represents apathy to contrast the feeling for love, represented by the color red. Tita stood as if in a trance, starting at the whiteness of the sheets, only for a few seconds. But long enough to cause a sort of blindness, wherever she looked she saw only white. When she looked at Rosaura who was writing out some invitations she saw only a snowy ghost . This quote also shows that Tita is fully aware that there is no love between Pedro and Rosaura. The quote states that Tita was being blinded by the color white, because she can t accept that fact that her love is going to marry her sister even though they do not love each other. The paper aims on improving the data centers efficiency by dynamic reallocation ie.in response to demand changes of virtual machines between physical servers. It allows to estimate the reduction in the number of physical servers required to host the workload. Keywords: Live Migration, Operating system virtualization, dynamic reallocation. Introduction Traditional data centers consist of a large number of physical machines, each executing a single instance of an operating system. For example, a certain group of servers supports email function and executes Linux with an appropriate set of programs for email handling. Another group of servers may run Windows providing access for remote users to office applications. Installing new application usually means purchasing a new physical server and installing a new instance of an operating system and the application. Capacity of the servers needs to be planned to handle peak loads of applications resulting in a relatively low utilization leading to wasteful power consumption and maintenance costs. A popular way of addressing this problem is server consolidation. It is an optimization approach that leverages technique called operating ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A major change was the way in which tea was consumed and served. The Chinese originally drank tea in its simplicity, enhancing the natural flavors of the brew. They drank the tea in handless cups that could be held without the dangers of getting burnt since Chinese tea was served lukewarm. However, the British did not follow the Chinese tradition and rather, changed it to meet their own cultural standards. The British preferred to flavor their tea with sugar and milk so that the drink was sweetened, less bitter, and creamier. They drank out of cups with handles, known as teacups, because British tea had to be served hot since that is the condition in which sugar melts the best.
