WHY I HAVE CHOSEN ITV
HISTORY OF ITV
• ITV first began broadcasting in 1955.
• ITV has expanded its selection of channels with the launch of
ITV2 in 1998, ITV3 in 2004, ITV4 in 2005, CITV in 2006 and
ITVBe in 2014.
• In 2014 it also released its first pay channel, ITV Encore.
ITV’S STRATEGY
• In August 2010 ITV announced their strategy to transform over
the next 5 years. Their strategies included:
ITV’S RESPONSIBILITY
• ITV want to grow their business in a responsible and clear way
whilst connecting the nations most loved and most watched
programs.
CHOSEN INSTITUTION - ITV
• ITV is one of the largest broadcasters in the UK. The content
produced is shown through various platforms such as TV and
on demand.
• The programs broadcasted have a wide variety of content.
Ranging from documentaries to soap operas.
• The channels consisting of ITV are ITV2, ITV3 etc.
• In addition to their TV broadcasts, ITV shows its programs
through the ITV hub and on the ITV website.
ITV STUDIOS
• ITV is the largest production company in the UK and produces
programs for its own channels and for other broadcasters such
as BBC, Channel 4 and Sky.
• ITV studios operates in 6 international locations these are: USA,
France, Australia, Germany, the Netherlands and Nordic
countries.
• The content produced is for local broadcasters in those
regions.
ITV REBRANDING
• The broadcasters channel changed its name from ITV1 to ITV. They
also changed colour scheme to better reflect their programmes.
• The main ITV logo is a colour picking design which suits the
backdrop well due to the nature of the programs shown.
• ITV2 has a new logo as it is meant to reflect the reality world of fun
and entertainment.
• All ITV channels have greatly expanded their range of indents which
are short, on screen promotional films shown between adverts and
programs.
BROADCAST & ONLINE
• Programming is funded by TV advertising revenues.
• In 2015 ITV had an estimate of 46.1% of the UK TV advert
market.
• ITV delivers its content across multiple platforms. either
through the ITV hub, platforms such as Virgin and Sky. Or
through content deals such as Amazon and Netflix.
• ITV’s content is available on over 25 different platforms.
ITV’S DOCUMENTARIES
• The documentaries which are shown on ITV are post watershed. This
is because they may contains things such as violence and profane
language.
• Their documentaries tend to have a lot of interviews in them usually
with the victims that are involved in the situation.
• Their documentaries are presented by people such as Trevor
McDonald who has made documentaries such as The Mafia with
Trevor McDonald and Inside Death Row.

Why I have chosen ITV as my institution

  • 1. WHY I HAVE CHOSEN ITV
  • 2. HISTORY OF ITV • ITV first began broadcasting in 1955. • ITV has expanded its selection of channels with the launch of ITV2 in 1998, ITV3 in 2004, ITV4 in 2005, CITV in 2006 and ITVBe in 2014. • In 2014 it also released its first pay channel, ITV Encore.

  • 4. ITV’S RESPONSIBILITY • ITV want to grow their business in a responsible and clear way whilst connecting the nations most loved and most watched programs.
  • 5. CHOSEN INSTITUTION - ITV • ITV is one of the largest broadcasters in the UK. The content produced is shown through various platforms such as TV and on demand. • The programs broadcasted have a wide variety of content. Ranging from documentaries to soap operas. • The channels consisting of ITV are ITV2, ITV3 etc. • In addition to their TV broadcasts, ITV shows its programs through the ITV hub and on the ITV website.

ITV STUDIOS • ITV is the largest production company in the UK and produces programs for its own channels and for other broadcasters such as BBC, Channel 4 and Sky. • ITV studios operates in 6 international locations these are: USA, France, Australia, Germany, the Netherlands and Nordic countries. • The content produced is for local broadcasters in those regions.
  • 7. ITV REBRANDING • The broadcasters channel changed its name from ITV1 to ITV. They also changed colour scheme to better reflect their programmes. • The main ITV logo is a colour picking design which suits the backdrop well due to the nature of the programs shown. • ITV2 has a new logo as it is meant to reflect the reality world of fun and entertainment. • All ITV channels have greatly expanded their range of indents which are short, on screen promotional films shown between adverts and programs.

BROADCAST & ONLINE • Programming is funded by TV advertising revenues. • In 2015 ITV had an estimate of 46.1% of the UK TV advert market. • ITV delivers its content across multiple platforms. either through the ITV hub, platforms such as Virgin and Sky. Or through content deals such as Amazon and Netflix. • ITV’s content is available on over 25 different platforms.
  • 9. ITV’S DOCUMENTARIES • The documentaries which are shown on ITV are post watershed. This is because they may contains things such as violence and profane language. • Their documentaries tend to have a lot of interviews in them usually with the victims that are involved in the situation. • Their documentaries are presented by people such as Trevor McDonald who has made documentaries such as The Mafia with Trevor McDonald and Inside Death Row.
