Setting Product Development Priorities Kendra Skeene
One of the keys to agile product development falls to prioritizing development. How do you choose which initiatives, bug fixes, and features to prioritize? With a user-first mindset, I’ll share how the state of Georgia prioritizes development on our enterprise Drupal platform, and share the development standards we use to maintain quality sprint over sprint.
Takeaways: At the end of the session, attendees will be armed with a simple framework for prioritizing sprints and a code standards checklist.
Quarterly updates: highlights from the Jan-March quarter, reflections and upcoming workshops facilitated by Vinay Dabholkar on Design Thinking, Systematic Innovation and Mindfulness
EK uses an agile approach in everything we do. In this presentation, Joe Hilger shares how we apply agile across all of our KM projects. Learn how EK uses agile to develop a KM Strategy. Once the strategy is in place, Joe explains how we design agile roadmaps that include a number of smaller projects to ensure rapid ROI and organizational buy-in. Joe also talks about how we use Agile to deliver the technical and business KM solutions in the roadmap. Finally, Joe shares how Agile supports change management on every initiative we deliver. Agile and KM are a natural combination that leads to successful KM initiatives.

How to Become a Versatile Product Manager by Google's PMProduct School
The pace of change in technology products is accelerating. As you build out your Swiss army knife of Product Manager skills, one key asset is an ability to be able to adapt to different types of products. Large companies look to hire generalist product managers who can navigate across product areas with ease. Some startups pivot from focusing on the consumer to becoming a B2B product. Are you prepared to be the versatile Product Manager that can be effective, no matter what?
In this session, Siddharth Bhai from Google took a look at three types of products, and discussed their distinct needs and strategies to succeed as a Product Manager in each:
Enterprise (Eg. Infrastructure/Deployment/IT)
Consumer (Eg. Apps/Websites)
Business (Eg. Sales/Marketing/Finance)

Everyone seems to talking about data scientists, but few really know what they do and how they can help you as a marketer. Katrina will share her personal journey as a marketer to understanding one of our greatest challenges in a new era of evidence based decision making – the science of marketing analytics.
Key takeaways:
A working knowledge of data science in a marketing context
A cliff notes guide to Descriptive, Predictive, and Prescriptive Analytics
The implications of big data and data science on marketing.
The first step for large enterprises transitioning toward a product-aligned operating model is to get shared agreement on this simple yet challenging question: "What is our product?"
This session will share techniques we have - and are - using to scale lean/agile product development in a large organization.
Detailed Description:
One of the biggest strengths—and concurrent challenges—for scaling product development with LeSS is defining what the “product” is. LeSS encourages product development teams to take as wide a view as possible and to use a customer-focused definition.
Great.
So, how do you define what your product is? And, how do you define your product in a manner that is collaborative, engaging, and sticky? Based on ongoing work inside a very large global technology infrastructure organization, we share techniques we have and are using to answer this essential question: “What is our Product?”
In this session, Andy and Ellen share techniques for enabling product development leaders and communities to define their product using an “outside-in”, customer-focused perspective - and do so with a product management mindset. They also share “meta” learning points about using these techniques in facilitated sessions in ways that optimize mutual learning.

Search and Society: Reimagining Information Access for Radical FuturesBhaskar Mitra
The field of Information retrieval (IR) is currently undergoing a transformative shift, at least partly due to the emerging applications of generative AI to information access. In this talk, we will deliberate on the sociotechnical implications of generative AI for information access. We will argue that there is both a critical necessity and an exciting opportunity for the IR community to re-center our research agendas on societal needs while dismantling the artificial separation between the work on fairness, accountability, transparency, and ethics in IR and the rest of IR research. Instead of adopting a reactionary strategy of trying to mitigate potential social harms from emerging technologies, the community should aim to proactively set the research agenda for the kinds of systems we should build inspired by diverse explicitly stated sociotechnical imaginaries. The sociotechnical imaginaries that underpin the design and development of information access technologies needs to be explicitly articulated, and we need to develop theories of change in context of these diverse perspectives. Our guiding future imaginaries must be informed by other academic fields, such as democratic theory and critical theory, and should be co-developed with social science scholars, legal scholars, civil rights and social justice activists, and artists, among others.

Let me take this questions and provide you a short journey through existing deployment models and use cases for AI software. On practical examples, we discuss what cloud/on-premise strategy we may need for applying it to our own infrastructure to get it to work from an enterprise perspective. I want to give an overview about infrastructure requirements and technologies, what could be beneficial or limiting your AI use cases in an enterprise environment. "Impact of front-end architecture on development cost", Viktor TurskyiFwdays
I have heard many times that architecture is not important for the front-end. Also, many times I have seen how developers implement features on the front-end just following the standard rules for a framework and think that this is enough to successfully launch the project, and then the project fails. How to prevent this and what approach to choose? I have launched dozens of complex projects and during the talk we will analyze which approaches have worked for me and which have not.
Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.
