Two ex-policemen who used to be a "dream team" but whose lives went downhill after their first failed case now do nothing but play video games and smoke in their grungy flat. However, they are unaware that a zombie apocalypse has occurred outside. When one of them accidentally turns on the news, they see that half the world has been wiped out by man-eating zombies. The two former officers must bounce back and use their skills to try to save the remaining survivors through their travels, finding humor in even the most serious of situations.
1. Who will save the world?
Film idea #1
By Greg Welbourne
2. There are two ex-policeman who both used to be amazing police officers, (the dream team) but after their first
ever incident where they couldn’t find the criminal, their lives went to pot. They are now housed in a grotty flat
and do nothing but play xbox and smoke. They are still heroes at heart but do they know it? However because
they never leave the flat they have missed a zombie apocalypse. They don’t realise this until one of them sits on
the remote to accidentally watch the news, where it is then evident that half the world has just been wiped out
by man eating zombies. Can they bounce back and save the other half?
They have a very casual approach to life now and are always having a laugh, we follow them through their
travels as they can always make a funny situation out of a very serious one.
The film will start with a moving camera of continual flashback of them when they were police officers, car
chases, them shooting people, doing parkour and arresting people. All the activities they would have been
involved in, in their past life. Each small scene will one shot as the camera is always moving to the right, on the
last shot of the opening scene we see them now, sat on a sofa, smoking and watching tv and it will be funny to
see the contrast in their past and present characters, setting the tone for the rest of the film.
3. Characters
This will be our other main character who
we’d follow through the film, alongside his
partner. He’d be the heart of the comedy and
jokes in the film and we’d form a great love for
his good hearted banter and laughs. This
character would have a fairly low self-esteem
but then grows confidence from the company
of his partner. His swearing within the film will
create humour.
This will be our main character, he will give the film
direction when it needs it. In that, once they’ve got
out of the flat and started trying the help people, he’ll
come up with the plan and ideas. He will also be a
shoulder to lean on for his partner and give him
support in every way he needs it.
To create humour, there will be parts of the film when
the couple are accused of being gay which they
confidently deny. However their ‘bromance’ is always
there.
4. Locations
This will be the sofas that they may sit on and the sort of environment they’ll be in..
5. Narrative Hook
The narrative hook i would play on is mainly the comedy created by the two characters, the audience would want to see what
they’re getting up to next and what jokes will next be created. I’d also like the audience to sympathise with the 2nd main character
as his size and self-esteem often becomes a barrier for him.
