Explorer, soldier, favorite of the Queen. The Lost Colony? But he never set foot in North America. And on 29 October 1618 he met his fate with the axe. But, what if . . .
Elizabeth I (7 September 1533 – 24 March 1603) was Queen of England and Queen of Ireland from 17 November 1558 until her death. Sometimes called The Virgin Queen, Gloriana or Good Queen Bess, Elizabeth was the sixth and last monarch of the Tudor dynasty.
Her forty-five years on the throne provided stability for the kingdom and helped forge a sense of national identity.
A brief review of England up to the Tudor period with emphasis on the roles of queens. Some other important queens in Europe including Isabella, a descendant of Edward III and John of Gaunt.
The start of one of the most destructive wars in history started with some guys getting thrown out a window. Kepler makes a law of physics. Someone loses their head; literally. What else happened that year? And what happens if one of those events is changed? Will that change our modern world?

What famous Englishman was executed, who has a city in the United States named after him, even though he never set foot on the continent? What plane crashed that changed history?

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

Synthetic Fiber Construction in lab .pptxPavel ( NSTU)
Synthetic fiber production is a fascinating and complex field that blends chemistry, engineering, and environmental science. By understanding these aspects, students can gain a comprehensive view of synthetic fiber production, its impact on society and the environment, and the potential for future innovations. Synthetic fibers play a crucial role in modern society, impacting various aspects of daily life, industry, and the environment. ynthetic fibers are integral to modern life, offering a range of benefits from cost-effectiveness and versatility to innovative applications and performance characteristics. While they pose environmental challenges, ongoing research and development aim to create more sustainable and eco-friendly alternatives. Understanding the importance of synthetic fibers helps in appreciating their role in the economy, industry, and daily life, while also emphasizing the need for sustainable practices and innovation.
2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

2. In 1580, Raleigh was one of the leaders of a party
that beheaded over 600 Spanish and Italian
soldiers who were taken prisoner at the Siege of
Smerwick.
Below is a monument to the dead.
3. Early in his life he had a vision
from what he believed was an
angel from God who told him that
he would not die in battle.
A man with that kind of belief can
accomplish many things.
4. As far as the infamous
laying down of the
cloak for Queen
Elizabeth I?
The first mention of this
came 80 years after his
death, so . . .
However, he was one of
her favorites at court.
5. In 1584, he received a
charter from Queen
Elizabeth I to explore and
rule any "remote, heathen
and barbarous lands,
countries, and territories, not
actually possessed of any
Christian Prince, or inhabited
by Christian People.”
He would get 1/5th of all the
gold and silver that might be
mined there.
6. He ruled an estate in
Ireland for many years,
before exploring the New
World at the behest of
Queen Elizabeth. He
himself never landed in
North America, although
he sent an expedition to
Roanoke, which would
become known as the
Lost Colony.
7. In 1591 he secretly
married one of the
Queen’s ladies-in-
waiting, Elizabeth
Throckmorton. They
were briefly
imprisoned in the
tower by an outraged
Queen.
8. Queen Elizabeth I died on 23 March 1603.
Raleigh was arrested for treason for his
part in the plot against the successor,
James I, on 19 July 1603. He was convicted
and thrown in the Tower. He remained
there until 1616.
9. He wrote “The History of the
World” about ancient Greece and
Rome while a prisoner.
10. He was briefly let out in 1617 to
search for El Dorado, the famed city
of gold in South America. He didn’t
find it.
Returning to England, Raleigh was
once more arrested, this time for
attacking the Spanish against orders.
11. On 29 October 1618, he was taken to the
Old Palace Yard in London to be executed.
Seeing the axe, he remarked: “This is a
sharp medicine, but is a physician for all
diseases and miseries.”
12. But.
What if he didn’t die under the axe?
How would history change?
13. Our timeline is being attacked. If the
Shadow can change six events in the
past, on the same day in different years,
it will cause a Time Tsunami and out
timeline will be wiped out.
The only thing standing between us and
obliteration is: the Time Patrol
14. London. 29 October 1618.
Time Patrol Agent Mac is there, amongst a
group of conspirators who want to free
Raleigh and escape to Spain, so Raleigh can
reveal English defenses to the Spanish Crown.
And the plan looks like it will work.
How does Mac get Raleigh to accept his fate?
15. What will Mac decide?
