The last Tsar, George Washington, Christopher Columbus, Kind Odoacer and more has fateful days. What happened to each on the 15 of March? How did those events change history forever?
Caesar, Tsar Nicholas, George Washington all share the Ides as . . .
1.
2. IDES OF MARCH (Time Patrol)
The same day, six different years.
The Time Patrol must simultaneously
send an agent back to each 24 hour
bubble to battle the Shadow’s attempt to
change our history. Failure means
annihilation of our timeline.
3. Scout’s Mission: Ides of March
Travel back in time to Thermopylae, Greece.
15 March 480 B.C.
The day on which King Leonidas and his 300
Spartans are finally overwhelmed.
4. 480 B.C.
It is 480 B.C. The world’s population is roughly 100 million
humans. Troops from Rome, far from being an Empire yet,
march against the Vientes, the richest Etruscan tribe. Zhong
You, a disciple of Confucius dies. The Imperial Treasury at the
Persepolis Palace in Persia is completed after three decades
of work. Artists begin the detail Musicians and Dancers on the
wall paintings in the Tomb of the Lionesses in Tarquinia, Italy;
it will be completed a decade later.
Some things change; some don’t.
5. Roland’s Mission: Ides of March
Travel back in time to Ravenna, Italy.
The day the Goth King Theodoric assassinates
the first King of Italy, Odoacer, who had marked
the end of the Western Roman Empire.
Last Emperor
Romulus Augustus
surrenders his
crown to King
Odoacer
6. 493 A.D.
It is 493 A.D. The world’s population is roughly 190 million
humans. In China, Emperor Xiaowen of Northern Wei begins his
campaigns against Southern Qi, which culminates against the
opposing Emperor Ming. Patrick, who would become the patron
saint of Ireland, dies. The Byzantine Empire, once known as the
Eastern Roman Empire, besieges and captures Cappadocia under
the command of General John the Hunchback. Christianity has
spread far beyond its start point in the Middle East. Buddhism
reaches Burma and Indonesia.
Some things change; some don’t.
7. Roland’s Mission: Ides of March
For his 24-hour bubble in time, Roland is a
Centurion in the relics of the Roman Army under
Odoacer. It appears he is to be a traitor and
make sure the assassination attempt by
Theodoric succeeds.
The agents of the Shadow have other plans.
8. Moms’ Mission: Ides of March
Travel back in time to Rome.
15 March 44 B.C..
The day on which Caesar is assassinated. At
least according to our history. The Shadow
has other plans, which Moms must stop.
9. 44 B.C.
It is 44 B.C. The world’s population is roughly 160
million humans. It is the year of the consulship of
Caesar and Antony; Pharaoh Ptolemy XIV of Egypt
dies; the first of Cicero’s Philippics attacking Marc
Antony is published.
Some things change; some don’t.
10. For her 24-hour bubble in time, Moms finds
herself an apprentice to a seer. The one who
warned Caesar about the Ides. But was it really a
warning? Or an invitation?
Moms’ Mission: Ides of March
11. Mac’s Mission: Ides of March
Travel back in time to Palos de la Frontera,
Spain.
15 March 493 A.D.
The day Christopher Columbus returns to Spain
after discovering the New World.
12. 1493 A.D.
It is 1493 A.D. The world’s population is roughly 425 million
humans; there had been 450 million 150 years ago, but then the Black
Death had done some damage and the world still hadn’t recovered
population-wise. England imposes sanctions on Burgundy for
supporting a pretender to the English throne; Maximilian I succeeds
his father, Frederick III, as Holy Roman Emperor; Russian Prince
Andrey Bolshoy dies; Spain, having issued the Edict of Alhambra the
previous year which demanded all Jews convert or be expelled, begins
to suffer economically without many of it most successful and
influential citizens.
13. For his 24-hour bubble in time, Mac is a monk;
armed to the teeth. Apparently to stop an
assassination attempt by the Cent Suisse, Swiss
Guard, sent by the Pope. But he finds out
Columbus is bringing more than just news of the
New World back with him.
Mac’s Mission: Ides of March
14. Eagle’s Mission: Ides of March
Travel back in time to
Newburgh, N.Y.
15 March 1783 A.D.
The day on which George
Washington gives a
dramatic speech, halting a
coup by his officers
against Congress and
saving the fledgling United
States.
15. 1783 A.D.
It is 1783 A.D. The world’s population is roughly 900 million humans on the
planet, of which only 3.1 million are part of the United States. Even though
fighting had stopped, the war is not yet technically over on the 15th of March.
That would happen in September. Catherine the Great of the Russian Empire
annexes the Crimean Khanate, the last remnant of the Mongol Golden Horde;
the last celebration of Massacre Day is held in Boston; the first public
demonstration of a parachute jump is done in France by a man jumping from an
observatory; the 1783 Great Meteor passes over the North Sea, Great Britain
and France prompting fear and scientific speculation; the Cedula of Population
is made into law in Spain, allowing any who swears fealty to Spain and the
Catholic church to settle in Trinidad and Tobago.
Some things change; some don’t.
16. Eagle’s Mission: Ides of March

gives the speech as history records. But some

Tsar, Nicholas II,
abdicates.
18. 1917 A.D.

although the First World War, the War to End All Wars for
the glass is half full people, was taking a chunk out of that;
J.R.R. Tolkien begins writing The Book of Lost Tales; in the
U.S. imprisoned suffragettes from the Silent Sentinels are
beaten in what became known as the Night of Terror; the first
Pulitzer prizes are awarded; Mata Hari is arrested for spying;

dead.

at the Imperial Palace in Petrograd with the
