Who are the culprits? The leaders, followers or the work culture? 
Culprits are the person or other agent guilty of or responsible for an offense or 
fault.1 From the case study that had been held at a well-known company in Malaysia 
that is Info R&D Malaysia, we can say that every individual and work culture are the 
culprits if they are ‘sitting late’ in the office because of taking advantage of the 
company infrastructure and facilities besides they cannot manage time properly . This 
is because a person with passionate values and fully energize will never passing time 
without doing anything benefit during late hours at the office. 
Info R&D Malaysia can be classified as an academic entrepreneurship as it is 
mainly involve in research and development of new products. In an organisation, all 
the leaders and followers have their roles to make sure a positive work culture in a 
company, especially for leaders. Effective leaders are especially capable of fostering 
group cohesiveness and promoting efficiacy in goal attainment.2 The President of the 
company had shown this values when he is particular about the leadership and work 
culture in his organisation. Although, there are a few leaders or seniors that do not 
show a good example to their followers or juniors. They are taking advantages of the 
company facilities for personal purposes and staying late in the office without 
knowing what to do. Maybe there are also a few seniors that abused their juniors in 
doing the work that the juniors should not do. This will impacts staffs efficiency and 
cause the new workers or juniors to back away from the company. 
For followers or juniors in a company, they must not think that the work or 
research is to have a salary for a better living only. This kind of thinking will just 
weaken the spirit to work at the company if a better life cannot be obtain, and cause 
a low work value. Instead, they must be passion and energise to follow and try to 
think that the company are theirs also, and share the same vision and mission as the 
president to develop the company. With this attitudes, sitting late in office without 
doing anything will be bound in every individual. A positive work culture will also 
developed as the leaders and followers work together to improve the company’s 
name. 
The negative work culture that has happened at the company is wrong, or we 
can say it is also the culprits. For example, sitting late in the office without doing 
nothing, abuse the company facilites such as cyberloafing in the workplace and do 
not manage time properly. However, to truly blame it 100 percent are also not a 
brilliant idea because the leaders and followers in the company have the control to 
change the work culture into positive ones. All seniors and juniors must taking part in 
developing a culture of proactiveness, openness, experimentation and risk taking so 
that it become the most valuable corporation.
