Mobile-Based Video Caching Architecture Based on Billboard Manager csandit
Video streaming services are very popular today. Increasingly, users can now access multimedia applications and video playback wirelessly on their mobile devices. However, a significant challenge remains in ensuring smooth and uninterrupted transmission of almost any
size of video file over a 3G network, and as quickly as possible in order to optimize bandwidth consumption. In this paper, we propose to position our Billboard Manager to provide an optimal transmission rate to enable smooth video playback to a mobile device user connected to
a 3G network. Our work focuses on serving user requests by mobile operators from cached resource managed by Billboard Manager, and transmitting the video files from this pool. The
aim is to reduce the load placed on bandwidth resources of a mobile operator by routing away as much user requests away from the internet for having to search a video and, subsequently, if located, have it transferred back to the user.
This document discusses factors to consider when choosing a video conferencing solution, including:
- Evaluating different product categories like telepresence, room-based, and desktop video based on needs
- Understanding implementation options like on-premise vs cloud-based services
- Considering network requirements and transport options for delivering video
- Developing strategies for deploying and managing video conferencing services
Harnessing The Value Of Vod by Value Partnersvalentina77
On-demand delivery of video content over broadband will undoubtedly be one of the
most disruptive changes in the television industry over the next decade, with widereaching ramifications across the media, telecoms and technology industries. In this

Online marketing strategies revolve around the ‘attention span’ of audience.
Trying to capture the imagination and interests of a potential customer has been the eternal challenge for marketers, and the equation gets even more complex when you have less than 5 seconds to that. ‘Magical sales pitch’ and ‘Message from the president’ are now less than passé, and are now being substituted with panoramic snaps and virtual tours of the destination.
It is now statistically proven that professional videos make more than a lasting impression, and customer persuasion is maximized when videos are utilized to market a product, resort, hotel or the Tour Packages. Travel industry market dynamics have been metamorphosed by the sophisticated use of Videos at every stage of the marketing cycle.
One of the major impacts of video marketing has been on the smaller players in hospitality segment – With zero distribution costs, these operators are now jostling for the market pie with established leaders, and also making their mark with intelligent video marketing.

Limits in Current Technologies for Video Distribution
and Advertising:
Poor Quality: Existing video over the Internet is delivered in poor quality in full-
screen. The viewing experience is not on par with television or DVD. Video is
pixilated, sound is out of sync and video service is often disrupted for buffering.
Cost for Long Format and HD is Too High: Using current technology, the Total Cost
of Delivery (TCD) for CDN streaming of long format HD or SD video can be as much
as ten times higher than the cost to deliver the same HD/SD content over Cable TV.
At these price points, the economics of video monetization are not viable. Current
solutions also expensively over-stream and forward buffer by as much as 100% of
actual viewed video.
Limitations on Consumer Reach: As quality increases, the number of broadband
users who can actually view the video declines. Using specifications from a lead-
ing CDN provider, less than 3% of Internet users can watch their recommended HD
video solution.
Low Monetization Potential: There is a strong correlation between increasing video
quality and high advertising and subscriber revenues, but in order to deliver high
quality, media producers suffer from shrinking consumer reach and nonlinear cost
increases. These negative tradeoffs are causing a revenue shortfall for most Inter-
net video offerings that focus on ad-based monetization.
CDNs are Not Optimized for Long Form Video: Existing video delivery technolo-
gies are based on algorithms, protocols and software designed for solving a broad
range of problems, not video specifically. Edge caching, connection-based stream-
ing servers, massive numbers of POPs, and aggressive peering are inadequate for
dedicated video delivery - especially for higher quality and longer format video.
Brute force solutions cannot delivery HD and SD video.

Quality-of-Service (QoS). CDNs deliver video using extensive buffering and “over-streaming”
to attempt to improve quality. This can significantly drive up the Total Cost of Delivery. For
example, with CDN over-streaming, a content provider may pay for delivery of 20 minutes of
video, even if the viewer only watches 5 minutes of content! With Vusion, our customers are
only charged for video actually played, not for over-streaming and buffering. In direct com-
parisons with CDN delivered HD video, Vusion’s Total Cost of Delivery can be substantially
lower at all market volumes, even for customers with very favorable CDN rates.
