higher management of unethical or illegal behaviour by an employer or
supervisor.
●According to code of ethics of the professional engineering societies,
●Engineers have the right to disclose the illegal and unethical behaviour of
organisations.
●Management thinks - It can lead to distrust,disharmony and an inability
of employees to work together.
General Definition
●Whistle blowing is alerting relevant persons to some moral or legal
corruption, where 'relevant persons' are those in a position to act in response,
if only by registering protest.
Standard Definition
●Whistle blowing occurs when an employee or former employee conveys
information about a significant moral problem outside approved organization
channels to someone in a position to take action on the problem.

When Should Whistle Blowing Be Attempted?
1)Need:Should be clear about the problems to be conveyed.
2)Proximity: Should be in clear position to report the problem.
Should have the expertise and firsthand knowledge about the
problems.
3)Capability: Should have reasonable chance in success.
Should be able to take care the financial security of their family.
4)Last Resort: Attempted only for rare emergencies.
Should try to work out formal and informal organization channels.
Moral Guidelines

● If the harm done is serious and considerable.
●Employees report their concern to their superiors.
●No satisfaction from their immediate superiors
2)Oligatory
●Documented evidence.
●Employee has strong evidence that making the information public will infact
prevent the threatenend serious harm.
Prevention
●Create strong ethics culture.
●Remove rigid channels of communication.
●Create ethics review committee with real freedom to investigate
complains and independent recommendations to top management.
●Willigness on the part of management to admit mistakes,if
necessary.
