The Danger of Procrastination - God presents us with opportunities to obey Him - The devil always strives to make certain that a convenient time to obey the Lord will never come!
The document discusses whether Christians are destined for defeat or victory on Earth. It argues that many prophecies cited as signs we are living in the "last days" were actually fulfilled in the 1st century. It says the "end times" referred to the end of the Old Covenant, and the "Great Tribulation" is past, referring to events of the 1st century. It claims the Book of Revelation was written in the 60s AD to address seven churches, and that the resurrection of believers occurs after Christ's millennial reign, not in a pre-tribulation rapture. The document aims to inspire Christians to positive action rather than inactivity based on escapist eschatology.
The document discusses three clear signs that the end times are near based on biblical prophecies: 1) The Holocaust and re-emergence of Israel fulfill Ezekiel's prophecy of the Jewish people returning to their homeland. 2) Jerusalem has become a burden to the world due to ongoing diplomatic struggles, as predicted by Zechariah. 3) Travel and knowledge have dramatically increased as foretold in Daniel, with people now routinely traveling between continents in a day and knowledge exploding in the past century alone. These signs indicate that Christ's return is imminent according to the author.
This document contains excerpts from the book of Philippians in the Bible and commentary on having a positive attitude. It discusses how Paul viewed his imprisonment as advancing the gospel, as it allowed him to spread the Christian message to the palace guard and emboldened other believers to proclaim the gospel without fear. The document advocates adopting an attitude of finding what is great about every situation, based on Paul's example and the biblical verse that God works all things for good.
The document discusses Christian perspectives on the end times as described in the Old Testament. It explains that the "last days" began with a prophecy of Jacob concerning the 12 tribes of Israel, and refers specifically to events that would occur when only the tribe of Judah remained in covenant with God. It describes how the kingdom of Israel was divided after Solomon, with 10 tribes going into exile and only Judah remaining, fulfilling the condition for the last days. The restoration of Israel prophesied in the Old Testament refers to their gathering after having been without a king for a long period of time.
This document discusses prophecies from the book of Daniel regarding the end times. It describes events during the persecution by Antiochus IV including the martyrdom of Jews who refused to renounce their faith. It then talks about Judas Maccabeus and others who aided the Jews after their fall. The document suggests these prophecies point to future persecutions of Jews and Christians until the time of the end. It claims Daniel's visions were meant to describe what will happen to God's people in the last days.
Paul faced criticism from believers in Jerusalem who accused him of teaching Jews to abandon their traditions. To address these claims, Paul agreed to participate in a Jewish ritual. However, some Jews were still angered by Paul's preaching and stirred up a mob against him. Paul was arrested and taken to the Antonia Fortress for his protection. He defended himself before the Sanhedrin but was unable to continue when ordered to be struck. Paul's testimony angered groups within the Sanhedrin, but God protected Paul and he was transferred to Caesarea for his safety.

This document discusses evidence for dating the Book of Acts in the late 1st century CE. It notes that Acts references Bernice's affair with Emperor Titus, which places the text no earlier than 69 CE. It also mentions a possible quote from Acts in a letter by Ignatius of Antioch around 100 CE. The document then examines similarities between events described in Acts and those written about by Josephus to argue Acts was written after Josephus' works in the late 1st century. Finally, it analyzes inconsistencies between Acts and Paul's letters that make it difficult to claim the author of Acts was a companion of Paul, dating the text more firmly in the late 1st century CE.

This document provides an overview of Saul's conversion to Christianity on the road to Damascus as described in Acts 9. It discusses how Saul went from being a persecutor of Christians to becoming an apostle of Jesus Christ after having a vision of Jesus. The document outlines the key events, including Saul receiving his sight back after being blind for three days, preaching in Damascus after his conversion, escaping down a wall in a basket when Jews plotted to kill him, and initially facing disbelief from disciples in Jerusalem when he tried to join them. The document examines Saul's journey from persecutor to apostle according to Acts and Galatians and provides commentary on divine and human cooperation in following God's will.
Acts is one of the most action packed books of the Bible. Luke describes the spread of the gospel from Jerusalem to Rome The challenge of Jesus to take the gospel to the ends of the earth was impossible with out the power and leadership of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is mentioned 43 times in Acts more than any other book.
The passage describes Jesus being brought before Pilate after being accused by the chief priests. Though Jesus does not defend himself, Pilate is amazed by his silence. The crowd calls for Barabbas, a murderer, to be released instead of Jesus. Pilate asks what evil Jesus has done, but the crowd demands his crucifixion. So Pilate releases Barabbas and delivers Jesus to be crucified to satisfy the crowd.

Paul was traveling to Rome to stand trial before Caesar after being arrested in Jerusalem. He faced many dangers along the journey, including a two-week long storm at sea that shipwrecked the boat near Malta. Though promised by an angel that all would survive, they had to cooperate by eating, helping one another, and not killing the prisoners. In Malta, Paul was bitten by a poisonous snake but was unharmed, astonishing the locals. After three months, they continued on to Rome, where Paul preached the gospel for two years while awaiting trial under house arrest.

Jesus cleansed the temple twice, once at the beginning and once at the end of his ministry. The first time, he drove out those who were selling oxen, sheep, and pigeons in the Court of the Gentiles, which was meant to be a place for non-Jews to pray. This disrupted worship. When the Jewish leaders demanded a sign of Jesus' authority, he told them he would destroy the temple and raise it again in three days, referring to his resurrection. Many believed in Jesus because of the signs he performed, but Jesus knew their hearts and did not entrust himself to them.
Sermon Slides: "Moving Out Of Our Comfort Zone" (Luke 9:1-9)New City Church
The document is a sermon about moving out of one's comfort zone to participate in God's mission. It discusses how Jesus called the twelve disciples and sent them out to preach without provisions, healing people along the way. To follow Jesus requires relinquishing allegiance to any king but God, seeking God's kingdom first, and growing in prayer. The sermon encourages believers to exist for mission rather than comfort by sharing the gospel boldly like the early disciples did.
Peter fulfilled Jesus' command to strengthen the brethren by travelling to different places to minister. This included performing healings, preaching to Gentiles despite being a Jew, and helping the early church accept Gentile converts. As the church grew, some believers had to flee persecution in Jerusalem but preached to Jews and Gentiles in other areas. In Antioch, many Gentiles converted to Christianity for the first time, though the church still struggled to fully accept Gentile converts. Further persecution by Herod led to the death of the apostle James and imprisonment of Peter, worrying the church, but God answered their prayers by freeing Peter.

Sabbath school lesson 11, 3rd quarter of 2018David Syahputra
Paul faced many trials in Jerusalem, both within the church due to accusations about his teachings, and from Jewish leaders who stirred up crowds against him. When defending himself before these crowds and the Sanhedrin, Paul shared his testimony of encountering Jesus and being converted, but was interrupted when he spoke of preaching to Gentiles. To save Paul from being killed by an oath-bound group of Jews, his nephew warned Roman authorities who then transferred Paul's custody to Caesarea for further legal proceedings under Roman law. Throughout these difficulties, God continued to encourage Paul and assure him of his mission to also testify about Jesus in Rome.
1. Paul and Barnabas went on a second missionary journey to visit churches they had previously established. They split up, with Barnabas and John Mark going to Cyprus and Paul going to Asia Minor with Silas.
2. During this journey, Paul met Timothy in Lystra and circumcised him to help Jews accept his message more easily. Paul also had a vision of a man from Macedonia asking for help, prompting him to take the gospel to Europe for the first time.
3. In Philippi, Lydia became the first Christian convert in Europe. Paul and Silas were imprisoned but a jailer and his family were converted after an earthquake freed them.
The document discusses the background and context of the Book of Acts. It notes that Acts was written by Luke as a sequel to his gospel. Luke interviewed eyewitnesses like Paul, Barnabas, and Philip to record the spread of the early Christian church from Jerusalem to Rome. Key events included Peter's ministry, Paul's missionary journeys, and Paul's imprisonment and appeal to Caesar.

This document provides an overview of simulation using GHDL for verifying digital designs. It discusses that simulation is important for detecting errors in a design early to reduce costs. Verification through simulation involves creating test benches to test a design against different input combinations. For large designs, decomposition is used to break them into smaller components that can be simulated more easily. The document advocates for using the open-source GHDL simulator, noting the benefits of understanding and improving open-source software. It provides instructions for installing GHDL on Linux and Windows and discusses using text editors like Vim or Gedit when working with GHDL. Coding best practices like commenting and readability are also mentioned.

Stefan Freitag presented on the D-Grid infrastructure in Germany. D-Grid supported multiple middleware platforms like gLite, UNICORE, and Globus Toolkit across over 30,000 CPU cores and 5 petabytes of storage. A reference system was created to help resources install software stacks consistently. A cloud computing prototype was also developed using OpenNebula to utilize idle resources and attract new users. Lessons learned included a lack of adoption of the reference system and legal issues around dual-use technologies and liability in virtual organizations. Future challenges include merging with the German NGI initiative to avoid duplication and better integrating services.

Paul gave a speech defending his faith to a hostile crowd in Jerusalem. He recounted his history of persecuting Christians before his conversion, when Jesus appeared to him on the road to Damascus and commissioned him to preach to the Gentiles. When the crowd objected violently, Paul had to be rescued by Roman soldiers. His speech paralleled the unjust treatment and trials of both Jesus and Paul by their own people. The core disagreement was over whether Gentile Christians needed to become Jews first by following Jewish customs and laws.
Paul was brought before King Agrippa to explain the charges against him after Festus struggled to find an accurate charge. Paul recounted his testimony to Agrippa, explaining how he persecuted Christians before his conversion experience with Jesus on the road to Damascus. Paul invited Agrippa to also become a Christian. Both Festus and Agrippa found that Paul had done nothing worthy of imprisonment.
Acts Chapter 23, Ananias, Sadducees Pharisees, Separation Of Church And State...Valley Bible Fellowship
The document discusses whether God still speaks today. While some argue God only spoke in the past and the Bible contains all we need, the author is unsure. If God spoke today, it would never contradict Scripture. Messages claimed to be from God must align with the Bible. God's Word is perfect and complete, but the Bible doesn't say God never speaks now. Any supposed message from God requires careful biblical examination and confirmation. We should focus more on what God has said in Scripture rather than claiming new revelations.
The document discusses the political and social context of the Roman Empire at the time of Jesus's birth. It describes how Roman rulers exercised absolute power and brutally conquered territories, enslaving populations. Luke mentions the census ordered by Caesar Augustus to show that Jesus was born under Roman rule. The Christmas story involves themes of religion, politics, power, and worship within the imperial cult that had developed around Augustus and other Roman emperors.
Paul was imprisoned in Rome for two years where he welcomed all who came to see him and proclaimed the kingdom of God without hindrance. After being released, he went on further missionary journeys before being imprisoned again in Rome and executed around 67 AD at age 61, likely being beheaded outside the city.
Paul arrived in Rome under guard and was allowed to live on his own while chained to a soldier. He spent two years preaching about Jesus to all who came to see him. Some were convinced but others did not believe. Paul quoted Isaiah, saying the Jews had become hardened and closed their eyes to the truth. He announced that God's salvation was now being offered to the Gentiles. After two years, Paul's imprisonment in Rome ended, but he continued preaching until being arrested again and executed by beheading outside Rome around age 61.
Sermon Slide Deck: "Good News of Great Joy" (Luke 2:1-14)New City Church
“...not only is Christianity the greatest story ever told, but it is the greatest possible story ever told.” ~ Paul Gould

The document discusses Luke's gospel and the book of Acts, and how Luke builds a bridge connecting the Old Testament to Jesus and then from Jesus to Paul. It summarizes that in Luke, Jesus is presented as the Davidic King who fulfills prophecies and establishes the kingdom of God through his role as Savior. Acts then continues the theme by showing Jesus commissioning the apostles with the Holy Spirit to preach the gospel and spread the kingdom to the ends of the earth.
Luke builds a bridge connecting the Old Testament to the New Testament through Jesus and the early church. In the Gospel of Luke, Jesus is presented as the promised Messiah and King who establishes God's kingdom through his teachings, miracles, death and resurrection. Luke then continues the story in Acts, showing how the apostles preached about Jesus and the kingdom after he ascended to heaven. The overarching theme is that God has fulfilled his plan to redeem Israel through sending Christ as the Savior and rightful heir to David's throne.
Paul is defending himself before Governor Felix against accusations from Jewish leaders. He confesses that he worships God according to the teachings in the Old Testament, including belief in the resurrection of both the righteous and unrighteous. Felix understands Christianity and Judaism but postpones making a decision to avoid angering the Jews, hoping Paul will bribe him for release instead of rendering a just verdict.
The document discusses Daniel's prophecy of the major empires that would rule Jerusalem from Babylon to the modern state of Israel. It analyzes the biblical feasts in relation to future events and Jesus' fulfillment of the feasts. The case is made for rebuilding the Third Temple on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem based on passages from the prophets and Jesus' own words.
This document discusses the concept of the "Kingdom of God" in the New Testament. It examines the ministry of Jesus and how he preached about the Kingdom of God being near or at hand. It also looks at how the Kingdom of God was central to the teachings of Jesus in the synoptic gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke, and how Jesus sent his disciples out to preach and teach about the Kingdom of God. Scholars view the Kingdom of God as a multifaceted and tensive symbol that refers to the hope of Israel and God becoming king through the return from exile, renewal, and the defeat of Satan at the final judgment.
1. The Second Advent movement began in the 1830s under William Miller's proclamation that Jesus would return between 1843-1844. When Jesus did not return as expected in 1844, many were disappointed but some recognized another message was needed.
2. Those who accepted the "Midnight Cry" message calling believers to go out and meet the bridegroom left their churches which had rejected the Advent message. Over 50,000 joined this movement by 1844.
3. After the disappointment of 1844, it was understood that Jesus had entered the Most Holy Place of the heavenly sanctuary to begin the final atonement cleansing, and the third angel's message of Revelation was given to warn of the mark
Paul defends himself before the Jewish council, saying he has lived his life before God with a clear conscience. When the high priest commands that Paul be struck, Paul protests that this goes against their own law. This causes a division between the Pharisees and Sadducees over the resurrection of the dead and whether Paul's vision constituted a message from God or not. The tribune has Paul taken into the barracks for his safety due to the violence of the dissension.
This is a study of Jesus being protected by the people. The masses of people loved Jesus and His teaching, but the leaders hated Him. Judas had to get Jesus away from the crowds to betray Him.
This document provides a summary and analysis of key passages in Matthew 24 regarding the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD. It makes 3 main points:
1) Matthew 24:15-28 refers to Jesus' warnings to Christians in Judea to flee Jerusalem upon seeing pagan idolatry set up in the Temple, which occurred when the Roman general Vespasian besieged Jerusalem in 69 AD.
2) There is no mention of a rapture in this passage - Jesus instructed his followers to flee the city to survive the coming destruction, not be taken up into heaven.
3) Descriptions of Jesus "coming" were likely using apocalyptic language common in Jewish literature to symbolize the divine

“The Kind of Preaching That Pleases God”Don McClain
This document examines what constitutes successful preaching according to God rather than popular measures. It profiles several preachers in the Bible like Noah, Jeremiah, John the Baptist, Jesus, Paul, Peter and Stephen. All faced opposition but faithfully proclaimed God's message of repentance, judgment for sin, and salvation through obedience. True preaching pleases God by upholding sound doctrine instead of popular fables and applies scriptural teachings to modern issues while opposing false teachings.
“The Nature of Saving FAITH” (2)— (Romans 3:19-5:5) In Romans 4 Paul is contrasting two opposing SYSTEMS, “FAITH & WORKS.” The “works” system cannot save a sinner because it demands perfection - and no amount of work can undo the sinners sin. The “Faith” system on the other hand implements forgiveness through Jesus thus providing justification on the grounds of God’s grace. It seems that current missionary work requires spending a lot of money, preparing a lot of materials, and traveling to far away places, so that it feels like missionary work. But what was the result they brought back? It's just a lot of photos of activities, fun eating, drinking and some playing games. And then we have to do the same thing next year, never ending. The church once mentioned that a certain missionary would go to the field where she used to work before the end of his life. It seemed that if she had not gone, no one would be willing to go. The reason why these missionary work is so difficult is that no one obeys God’s words, and the Bible is not the main content during missionary work, because in the eyes of those who do not obey God’s words, the Bible is just words and cannot be connected with life, so Reading out God's words is boring because it doesn't have any life experience, so it cannot be connected with human life. I will give a few examples in the hope that this situation can be changed. A375
