Florida Keys Mosquito Control Case Study
The Florida Keys is facing a crisis in the growth of deadly mosquito populations who pose a threat
to its Tourists and residents. The species Aedes aegypti is an invasive species in the Florida Keys
that carries Dengue Fever and Chikungunya and spreads these diseases to humans by biting them
(Oxitec, United States ). Dengue fever and Chikungunya are potentially fatal, viral ailments that
have no present day treatment apart from treating patient s symptoms (Oxitec, United States ).
According to the Florida Keys MosquitoControl Division (FKMCD), they present efforts for
fighting off these mosquitoes is using insecticides; achieving a 50% eradication rate( Oxitec
OX513A Trial ). Oxitec believes that it has come up with a solution to combat the growth of Aedes
aegypti populations using genetically engineered sterile male Aedes aegypti to sire offspring that
will not survive into adulthood(Oxitec, United States ). In response to this, many of the Key s
residents are protesting against the releasing of genetically altered mosquitoes as they feel... Show

During these meetings, the FKMCD shows the cost effectiveness of Oxitec s method compared
to the present methods used in the Keys, that Oxitec s methods would decrease the use of
pesticides in the Keys and that not trials would be executed on private property ( Oxitec
OX513A Trial ). With as much positive information that the FKMCD presents for Oxitec, they
make little provision for debate. As a result, it could be suggested that the FKMCD are treating
this plan as if it were already passed, leaving the public without a voice. Larry Kahn documents
protests against the initiation of trials for Oxitec s plan for this very reason ( flkeysnews.com). To
the public, the FKMCD and Oxitec seem contented to carry out Oxitec s plan with only superficial
concern for the concerns of the

Franklin Delano Roosevelt s Role in Reforming America
Born January 30th, 1882 Franklin Delano Roosevelt was a son of a wealthy man who owned an
estate of hundreds of hectors of farmland and forest around the house at Hyde park and also had an
interest in a number of thriving business companies.
In September 1896 Roosevelt s parents sent him to Groton, a boarding school for boys whom
come from wealthy families which had recently been set up in New England. Roosevelt s head
teacher at his new school was described as big, athletic, young clergy man. His head teacher,
Peabody, insisted that these young boys shall learn to stand on their own two feet and not to go
through life being pampered just because their parents are wealthy. Peabody thought that the boys

This helped the unemployment rate go up.
Recovery was another aim of Roosevelt s, the public works administration which is part of the
national industrial recovery act of 33 which was for the government to give money to build
schools, dams. Roads, bridges, airports, local offices and parks. This created millions of jobs and a
better life for the Americans in the future. Another recovery act was the AAA aka agricultural
adjustment administration. This agency was to make sure that farms reduced how much product
they were producing, made sure the farms products were up to standards and also to make sure the
farmers didn t tire out the soil.
Roosevelt introduced many acts to reform America for instance the Tennessee valley authority
which was made to build two dams on the Tennessee river, cutting across the powers of the local
state government which made irrigation of dried out land possible and also it was very useful
as it provided electricity for undeveloped areas and created thousands of jobs in areas that were
hit by the depression. The Wagner act was also a new measure which was introduced by
Roosevelt which forced all employers to allow trade unions and allowed for them to have a right
to talk. The social security act of 1935 which was to provide pensions for the elders, unemployed
insurance, help for the poor, sick and disabled . The evidence to show that the social security act
was a success was that unemployment insurance meant if a

Examples Of Motivation In Beowulf
Beowulf s Motivation
(An educational research on why Beowulf did what he did) Beowulf was the first example of an
epic hero. Beowulf was a poem that some scholars have suggested was made at the end of the 10th
century (Harrison, Beowulf). The question of why Beowulf does things he does always comes into
play. The story of Beowulf starts off when he is in Geatland and hears that the Danes are being
attacked by a monster. Beowulf sails to Denmark to help them. It should be noted that the Geats
and Danes are not friendly towards each other. Beowulf defeats both monsters that attack Heorot
Hall and returns to Geatland to become king. After an honorable fifty year reign a dragon starts
attacking Geatland. He kills the dragon, but is mortally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Why did he sail across the ocean just to help the Danes? Was it all really because he just wanted
to do his duty, or was it something more? Some say that Beowulf had an eagerness for glory and
fame (Snyder, Beowulf Themes). But then why did Beowulf do his duty. Some may say that
one can not be glorious until they have done their duty. Beowulf s father even said that his glory
is too great to forget (1221). Some might say that the only reason Beowulf traveled to Denmark
and risked his life defeating Grendel and Grendel s mother was so he could do his duty and get
all of the glory. Bigger than just doing his duty, Beowulf s motivation for saving The Danes from
Grendel and his mother was to become

The Major Characters Of Responsibility In A Tale Of Two...
Whether it is studying for a difficult project, running from danger, or working to hit a goal at a
certain time, perseverance is necessary to help one carry himself or herself. Sometimes it stands
for something simple. Sometimes it means life, death, or even self worth. Thus, perseverance can
be defined as someone or something trying to complete a task no matter the degree of challenge
or obstacles. Perseverance is a trait shared by a few of the major characters in the stories, A Tale of
Two Cities and Les Miserables including the protagonists and antagonists.
Dr. Manette shows perseverance in many ways in the story, A Tale of Two Cities. Charles
Darnay, the own nephew of the Marquis St. Evremond who banished him to the Bastille for
eighteen years, tries to marry his daughter by making promises with Dr. Manette. This shows
that he is a man who displays great perseverance when selecting the best husband for his
daughter, one that will make her happy. He also exhibits great perseverance when Darnay gets
put on trial many times and Dr. Manette tries to prove his innocence using many resources. Lastly,
he shows perseverance when he tries to work through his multiple relapses. These are times in
which he almost seems lifeless and mechanical. Of the many representations of Dr. Manette s
relapses, his situation with Darnay marrying Lucie is similar to Cosette s love for Marius and the
approval of her father in a few aspects.

John Foster s Celebration Of Discipline
Celebration of Discipline In this chapter of Celebration of Discipline, Foster expands on the idea of
service within Christianity. Toward the beginning of the chapter Foster brings to light what self
righteous service versus true service looks like. Overall self righteous service seeks to please ones
self and desires, not the person they should be serving. Another main point that is brought up is the
relationship between humility and service. Foster says, Service is the most conductive to the
growth of humility. Humility is not something to be focused on, but something that comes when
we engage in true service. The chapter then goes on the list all the different ways to serve including
the service of small things, guarding the reputation of others, common courtesy, hospitality,
listening, bearing burdens, and sharing the word of Life.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I listen to pastors preaching in church, but sometimes neglect the everyday conversations through
which God might be trying to communicate with me. I was really able to connect with idea
because it challenged me to be more open to what people have to say about spirituality, because
God might have revealed something to them that I haven t learned yet. Another point that I
connected with was when Foster talks about the service of hospitality. I believe this is
something we do in our home and it has been such a blessing to my family. Our want to be
hospitable to people who are traveling or need a place to stay has been an incredible experience. It
was not something we really thought about doing because it was an act of service, but more of a
gifting I believe God has given our family to be able to make people feel welcome and relaxed in a

External Forces Of Darkness In Shakespeare s Play By...
External forces of darkness Darkness is always associated with evil and to a certain extent
deception. In our society, darkness tends to be the primary characteristic of evil. It is also
associated with the supernatural, something Shakespeare uses a lot in his plays. William
Shakespeareemploys the imagery of darkness throughout his tragedyplays, although to different
extents. He uses dark images often to describe the horrors and the evils the characters portray, and
these intensified internal tragic flaws are typically the result of their own doom. Noticeably
Shakespeare Likes to use supernatural effects to create eerie and unsettling feelings amongst the
audience and or readers.
The forces of darkness of Shakespeare s tragic protagonists come from the idea that the characters
themselves are the reason these bad things happen to them, because they cannot control their
internal tragic flaws which overall in the end turns into evil. This however makes the characters
so fascinating to watch. The external forces of darkness are an aspect of these four tragedies that
do play an important role in the plays. The understanding I got from this connection was that
instead of blaming their weaknesses on themselves the protagonists blamed forces of darkness for
their own issues. Although this evilness was there it wasn t the root cause of the characters going
out of control. It showed me that people are always going to find any way to take the blame off
themselves and put it on others because it is one of the best coping mechanism.
The fall of the characters are triggered by external darkness. External darkness comes within a
character from evil forces. And it seems the protagonists blame their own internal flaws on this
external evil. The characters are driven by this darkness to create devastation inside the play. For
example, Hamlet s death is the end of an external wickedness which follows him throughout the
plays. And like the death of King Lear s beloved daughter Cordelia we see that force of darkness
become overwhelming. Macbeths external force of darkness

Kenyan Real Estate Bubble
Is there a real estate bubble in Kenya?
Recently in the Standard Edition, a report by the Central Bank and World Bank said that only eight
per cent of Kenyans 320, 000 households can afford a mortgage and that nine out of ten Kenyans
cannot afford to buy the houses they live in, even with a mortgage loan in tow. The report also
indicated that for one to buy a house worth Sh2 million, for example, one must have a net salary
of Sh100,000 and service the loan at Sh42,000 a month for a period of 15 years at an interest rate
of 14.5 per cent. This came as shock since, although the total mortgage loan book in the country is
approx. 16,000 accounts, the value of mortgage loans (as at the end of last year) totaled

The increasing real estate growth has mainly been driven by a strong economy, urbanization and
growing middle class. The stabilizing legal environment, considerable credit expansion and
increased spending on infrastructure by government have also contributed to the growth.
Nevertheless, the market faced difficulties in 2011 due to high cost of land, high inflation, a weak
shilling, ,and cases of fraud which led to loss of purchased land to various individuals. The high
inflation last year caused precipitous import prices. Consequently, the shilling weakened, falling to
a historic low of 107 to the dollar in October. Therefore, the cost of construction materials rose by
about 40% and forced property developers to spend more on projects. This hurt the property
market and has prompted commercial banks to cut lending, fearing a slowdown in the uptake of
properties especially in the up market segment. Below are a few charts and graphs on prices for
property for sale and average rent, courtesy of HassConsult . The Hass Composite sales Index is

The Complications Of Marie De France s Love Stories
Within Marie de France s lais are found multiple complications within a love plot, and when the
reader reaches the end of the tale, all of those difficulties are magically overcome. The idea of
love strengthening while enduring hardships is a central plot in Marie de France. Within Marie s
stories such as Guigemar , Le Frense , and Lanval there are lovestories that seem to overcome
insurmountable complications. Rather, they seemed likely to lead to a tragic ending. However,
through the power of love and what seems to be a magical force, everything is resolved and the

Marie sees love in a unique way, and I believe her philosophy when it comes to love is that love
can endure all and that some magical force will guide you to a happily ever after. Though, I
believe this to not be true since not all love stories have a happy conclusion, and the way a
person handles obstacles cannot be solved with magic. Her stories seem to demonstrate love in
an unlikely and unrealistic manner. For example, in Guigemar , Guigemar is under a curse
where it essential that he finds a lady who will suffer for him, and where he will suffer for her in
order to lift the curse. Guigemar falls in love with a lady who falls in love with him while she is
nursing him back to health after noticing his wound. Nevertheless, she is married to another man,
who is the King. The husband of the lady makes this discovery and wishes to have Guigemar
murdered. The King ships Guigemar off to his homeland and locks his wife up in a tower to
suffer. However, suddenly and unexpectedly, by some force of magic she is able to leave the tower
and go on a quest to find Guigemar. She eventually finds him. Though, Guigemar still must fight

Research Paper On Chicken Pox
Chickenpox is a contagious disease that is caused by the varicella zoster virus (or coming in
contact with someone with the virus). Chicken pox is mainly found to infect children because
they stay in big groups and have a lot of contact with each other. It is a problem because it causes
many issues and symptoms to certain individuals, the disease can be serious and deadly.
The main symptoms of Chicken Pox include experiencing extreme itchiness around your body, flu
like symptoms (stuffy nose, sneezing, etc.), rashes and blisters, sore throat, headaches,
stomachaches and pain around the spots. Chicken pox can be exceedingly contagious, and it will
still be contagious until all the symptoms are over. It can spread through saliva, coughing, sneezing,

Although dying from chicken pox is very unlikely, a study showed that 20 people died from the
disease in Britain in 1 year. Also, every year there are around 5000 9000 cases of chicken pox and
around 100 deaths (caused by the Varicella Virus) in
America.
When the body has successfully defeated the virus, the virus will remain in the body in case of
future attacks from the same microorganism. After having chickenpox, it is unlikely to be infected
by it again. But the virus stays in your body after you re cured from the illness. After a chickenpox
infection, the virus will be inactive in the body, because if there are any future attacks by the same
virus, the body will recognize it and have an easier time destroying it. The immune system keeps the
virus inactive, but it is possible for the virus to reactivate and cause a similar form of the disease
called shingles, also referred to as herpes zoster.
If a pregnant woman gets infected with the varicella virus, the baby is going to get infected

Risk Assessment of Terrorism
Introduction A risk assessment happens to be a crucial element in recognizing mitigation measures.
It comprise of evaluating capability, cause, chance, and targeting. Assessing threats accurately is a
challenge for many countries. In most instances, attaching concerns to tangible and prospective
threats to a country security that is mostly open to policy makers remains a problem. Even agencies
that are generously and of highly, superior intelligence struggles to plan logical and well timed
threat assessments across the security scale. Risk assessment Terrorism is a main challenge to
assess the threats associated with the issue. The act comprise of unstructured associations of
extremely mobile individuals, whose objectives are nearly impractical to weigh without access to
consistent and appropriate human intelligence as terrorist groups remain indefinable. Nevertheless,
assessing the threats from terrorist in the recent years is a significant preoccupation for security
agencies found in the Western countries. Faced with the common, destructive nurture related to
international terrorism common in the contemporary world, evaluating the degree and the threat
scope is critical (Zanders et al 2000). This makes selection of threats to help choose appropriate
measures to defend the state interests, which is a main concentration for political leaders in
Western countries. The fear that many terrorists resorts to usage of mass destruction weapons is
nothing unusual. The range of

Ann Starrett Mansion Bed and Breakfast
In 1899, George Starrett built a majestic mansion for his love Ann. Many descendants lived in
the mansion too. There have been sightings of the couple as well as the nanny who helped raise
the couple s son.The figure of a red haired woman has been seen by many guests and staff. She s

people have felt that this peaceful spirit is Ann herself. While a male apparition is said to haunt the

Against Zoo Research Paper
The topic of zoos and whether or not they re humane have quickly become one of the biggest
controversial topics in the past twenty years. There is not much of a middle perspective in this
debate, rather people tend to lie on two completely opposite ends of the spectrum when displaying
their beliefs pertaining to the zoodebate. I chose to research this topic because though I have strong
beliefs, I think that, on this matter specifically, people often jump to a certain side without any
prior research or actual education on the subject. I think that it s important to understand both sides
of the argument of zoos before sustaining a side. Another reason why I chose this topic was to

There are animal preservation groups that don t require putting these wide ranges of species in
captivity. Their sole purpose is to help injured animals or species that are going extinct, and
release them back into the wild where they belong. I think that zoos should be abolished unless
they change into sanctuaries where injured animals are taken in, helped, and released back into
the wild immediately. Zoos would still be allowed to do this in front of public eyes. Animals
should never be held captive and research is never an excuse. Animals can be researched while in
the wild where they are in their most natural and happy state. Zoos do not do this. Zoos claim that
they are helping animal species when in reality they re hurting them and torturing animals to the
point of depression and insanity. There is no justification for shooting animals when they act up
because they shouldn t be in those situations in the first place. Animal instincts should not change.

The During The Age Of Reformation Essay
During the Age of Reformation people were greatly against the abuses that existed in the Roman
Catholic Church. A couple of abuses that were greatly stressed were the selling of indulgences,
simony, and nepotism. It was some of these same abuses that prompted German reformist Martin
Luther to write his 95 Theses. And for the Council of Trent to later address them in a series of
meetings. The most criticized abuse of the Roman Catholic Churchwas the selling of indulgences by
the pope. Indulgences permitted people to buy release from time in purgatory for both themselves
and their deceased loved ones. They were papers sold in order to bring remission of punishment
due to sins. Another common abuse that existed in the Church was simony. Simony is the act of
selling of Church positions. The Church had permitted important ecclesiastical posts to be sold to
the highest bidders and had left residency requirements in the religious community unenforced. A
last abuse of the Church is nepotism. Nepotism is the act of giving jobs to family members
instead of giving it to more qualified workers. This was a common problem where a well trained
and dedicated worker was needed and not just anyone. In 1517, when reformist Martin Luther wrote
an indictment of the abuses of the Roman Catholic Churchcalled the 95 Theses, he appealed to
many people across Europe. In his indictment he greatly criticized and addressed the selling of
indulgences above all. At first, a person would have to do work

How Did Tennessee Williams Use Spectacles In The Glass...
When making unrealistic things come to life, it is not the main ideas that make it happen, but

with giving spectacles meaning. He uses the picture of the father in their living room to show
how different life would be like without a father figure. Laura s leg brace establishes the fact
that being different was not common. He also demonstrated how smoking was very common for
men in that given time period. The use of spectacles in The Glass Menagerie gives it a real

David Hume s Dialogues Concerning Natural Religion Essay
David Hume s Dialogues Concerning Natural Religion provide conflicting arguments about the
nature of the universe, what humans can know about it, and how their knowledge can affect their
religious beliefs. The most compelling situation relates to philosophical skepticism and religion; the
empiricist character, Cleanthes, strongly defends his position that skepticismis beneficial to religious
belief. Under fire from an agnostic skeptic and a rationalist, the empiricist view on skepticism and
religion is strongest in it s defense. This debate is a fundamental part of the study of philosophy:
readers must choose their basic understanding of the universe and it s creator, upon which all other
assumptions about the universe will be made.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When they are young, they will be taught about the supremacy of religion and the fallibility of
philosophy and science. Demea s theology resembles the god of the gaps perspective, where any
failings of science and philosophy is more reason to believe that God exists within the things we
cannot explain. He hopes that as his students learn of this, they will believe that the paramount
objective of their education is to learn the nature of God, who is most important and constant being
in the universe. To summarize, Demea believes that humans will never fully understand the
universe; thus, the failure of science to provide explanations is the greatest proof of God and
greatest justification for faith.
Philo heckles the ideas of Demea while imposing his own ideas. As an empiricist and a skeptic, he
calls to let us become thoroughly sensible of the weakness, blindness, and narrow limits of human
reason. (131) Philo believes that because humans have been historically ignorant about science and
the universe, that humanity

Examples Of Aggression In Hedda Gabler
Human Animalistic Instincts and Aggression Animals do not do what they have done. Animals kill
to eat, to defend themselves, or their own, and to protect their territory. Not for the joy of it. Not
for the lust of it. In this quote by Jim Butcher, animals are depicted as creatures who live to guard
their possessions because they have to. Human beings adhere similar qualities to animalistic
behaviors. Animals must be hostile or hold violent behaviors or attitudes toward another ready to
attack or to confront their prey or intruders. By studying animal behavior, humans gain insight on
their own. Feelings such as revenge, happiness, anger, have evolved and have become emotions that

One of the sources of the story is the Judgment of Solomon. In the Judgement of Solomon, two
women claim to be the mother of a baby. In the play, the story is reversed, and Grusha, the
character who is not the true mother of Michael, nurtures him as if he is her own. Territory is an
important aspect in the play, as it relates to possession over Michael, and the valley. Aggressionis a
biological necessity for defense of territory. (CITE) Animals and humans do not want their
dynasties taken away from them. The moral of the story is that the one who will make the best
use of the land which is the piece of territory deserves it. Along with the land, the one who will
be a good mother to Michael deserves him. Michael represents the land. Territory is always
fought over and humans like animals feel obligated to defend what they think belongs to them.
(CITE). Towards the end of the play, Michael s real mother, and Grusha have a chalk circle
drawn with Michael in the middle. Grusha does not want to tug Michael s arm or to hurt him. As
a result, she announced as his mother. Grusha responds to social pressures to provide a safe home
for Michael. Further more, Grusha is good for Michael just as the fruit farm will be good for the

Lord Of The Flies Egalitarianism
Lord of the Flies is an allegorical novel by William Golding, telling the tale of a group of young
boys and how their attempt to recreate civilization on a deserted island eventually leads to
savagery and primitivity. In the beginning of the novel, the boys discover a conch shell, and use
it as a way to promote democracy by letting whoever hold it speak uninterrupted. The elected
leader of the boys also encourages the rest to build a signal fire in hopes of getting rescued. Near
the climax of the novel, after savagery has taken over most of the boys, a sow s head, named as
Lord of the Flies, is cut and given as an offering to a beast that the boys believe exists somewhere
on the island. Golding develops the thematic concept of a desire for... Show more content on

Simon, the purest of all the children, encounters the Lord of the Flies, which speaks to him: You
knew didn t you? I m part of you? I m the reason why it s no go? (143). The diction in this
segment conveys to the reader that the beast the boys are afraid of, exists in themselves,
preventing them from even having a chance of being rescued. The novel proceeds on an even
ghastlier path when the Lord of the Flies tells Simon, You re not wanted. Understand? We re
going to have fun on this island (144). From these sentences the reader has confirmed that
Simon is unwanted by the rest of the savages because he is not a savage himself. When the Lord
of the Flies says that they are going to have fun on the island, it means to tell Simon that the
savages form of fun has changed from playing in the sand and water, to hunting and killing.
Perhaps the most crucial piece of dialogue coming from the Lord of the Flies, is when it tells
Simon that [they] shall do [him]. Jack and Roger and Maurice and Robert and Bill and Piggy
and Ralph. Do [him] (144). This conversation is a way of foreshadowing Simon s murder; the
Lord of the Flies refers to this as doing him. There is also great significance in the sow s head
mentioning all of the boys names, including those who don t seem to be savages, like Ralph and
Piggy. This is

platform from cell phones to Computers and Xbox s. Many good games are overlooked for the
more mainstream ones such as Call of Duty whose games are extremely popular but at best
subpar. One of the best new shooters on the market today is Rainbow six Siege . One of many
games in the Rainbow six saga, Siege is the newest addition to Tom Clancys brainchild tactical
shooterseries. The gamefeatures realistic five on five tactical combat between two teams. One of
the teams attacks, while the other defends. Rainbow six s graphics are amazing for a console
game and really has the power to immerse a casual gamer. Rainbow also has a perfect formula
for mixing in futuristic gadgets with real counter terrorism style combat in small environments
such as residential houses and large yachts. Every operator has there own special gadget to gain
the edge in combat and trying to guess which operators the enemy team will use is crucial to
survival. That being said, you do not make it very far in Rainbow six without some sort of team
work and collaboration as opposed to shooters such as Call of Duty that have more of a one vs.
all run and gun mentality. As the game is rated M for mature by the ESRB, You will need to be
over eighteen to purchase it. The strong rating is due to blood, drug references, strong language
and violence, which some parents may find okay for their children but some may

The Importance Of Family On My Family
Family is important, including your ancestors. Your family history can say a lot about your
current position in society. Society has a way of classifying people into groups based on
resources known as stratification. Social stratification as defined by the book refers to how
individuals and groups are layered and ranked in society according to their access to and
possession of valued resources (Ballantine, Roberts, and Korgen 2018). After talking to my dad
and mom about my family history I got a better idea as to where my family is on the social class
ladder and I was able to see how my ancestors lives shaped my life in some ways that can be
understood from a sociological perspective. On my mom s side of the family I learned a little bit
about her, my mom s name is Kimberly; her parents, my grandparents, Richard and Kay Leet; and
Kay s parents, my great grandparents, Charles and Mildred Whitney. Mildred Whitney graduated
from Upper IowaUniversity with a Bachelor of Arts in teaching. She was a teacher and directed
school plays. Then when she had Kay she was a stay at home mom. My mom, Kimberly, was
not fully sure where Charles Whitney graduated, but he received a Master s degree and was a
superintendent of schools. Kay Leet graduated from Iowa State Teachers College (now University
of Northern Iowa) with a Bachelor of Arts in teaching. She taught elementary school for a few

The Problem Of A Medical Disorder Essay
TVs playing. Texts incoming. Phone calls ringing. Music streaming. In today s entertainment
heavy and device rich world, today s youth have more choices as to where in to invest their
focus. As a result of these plentiful distractions, misconceptions and lores are developing around
the actual, factual instances of Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder among today s young
learners. Regardless of what these public beliefs suggest, research on the disorder and the
scientific method has more substantial information to provide. For this reason, ADHD s
contentious reputation entitles it to an intricate overview. Indeed, scientists and research
support that ADHD is a diagnosable condition that can be found among young students, has a
homogenous set of treatment options, renders a student eligible for educational assistance in a
majority of today s classrooms, in spite of its semi controversial reputation. For starters, in the
process of classifying a medical disorder, there must be an observable set of abnormal mental or
physical processes. Secondly, the world of medicine prefers and requires a large body of
research and peer review of proposed symptoms before a disorder is officially labeled a disorder.
In short, ADHD has undergone both trials and been deemed a recognizable disorder. To explicate,
the CDC reports that in order for any individual to have a diagnosis of being both attention deficit
and hyperactive, they must exhibit five out of ten personality traits in two

The Effects of Children Poverty in the UK Essay

our lives whether we identify or not are not the points of my study. I want people to see the
numbers do not lie and we have to help with this huge increase of poverty. Poverty affects families,

In my research on child poverty, I read a scholarly journal entitled UNICEF Child Poverty in
Perspective Report: A view from the UK. In the journal they compared the conditions of the
children living across the world in the industrialized countries. UK was found as the poorest of
them all. This comparison was on average against 21 countries. These reports were started in
2000, where they resembled a report card of the comparisons but the latest one was February
2007. The report has some interesting and detailed information on contributing factors on
children poverty. The first contributor I will discuss is emotional and social issues for poor
children. These problems include impulsive behaviors, lack of social skills, anxiety, depression
and low self esteem. These problems make it difficult for future success in school or work as
they grow. (UNICEF) Emotional children may begin to feel helpless and start to separate from the
crowd to avoid embarrassment. They have to deal with the looks and comments of people who are
more fortunate talking down to them. There s a feeling of helplessness and questions on why they
have to be less fortunate. This may lead to counseling in more severe situations. Then there is the
part poverty plays in the educational development as well. There are times when poverty may mean
no dinner the night before or not enough breakfast that morning. Poverty is the leading threat to

The Ethnic Relation and Culture in Malaysia. By just looking at the title above, you know what I

actually envied by many foreigners. Why? Well, one of the main reasons is because of how we

ethnic groups. The culture of our country started out with the unique combination and amount of
ethnic groups in our country. Let s understand more of our country s ethnic group before we go on

Although living in the same country, I still do not know much of my people; it is a shame for
many young people nowadays too, all they know are mainly the three main ethnic groups. Besides
that, another we must not forget about is that many foreigners, or shall I say legal immigrants came
to our country live as citizens of Malaysia. For example, the Koreans, Japanese, Filipinos,
Indonesians, etc because of the way we live.
Being a Malaysian, we are very lucky. We live in a place where there are no serious and deadly
problems like natural disasters or war. Besides that, the pace of how we live is very slow, carefree
and we don t have much stress compare to other country. Studies show that the Koreans and
Japanese in the country came because they wanted to live the Malaysian way.
The main question our country s people are asking is, why Malaysia? Of all countries, why pick
Malaysia? Why does so many people from the outside wants to come to our country while we,
people of Malaysia wants to migrate to other people s country? Maybe one day, Malaysia s three
major ethnic groups are Malays, Japanese and Koreans. It would be very weird. Malaysia will not
be Malaysia anymore.

of the differences between cultures. Due to peninsular Malaysia s strategic

Why Do We Need The Electoral College
I believe that we don t need the Electoral College for multiple reasons. One of the reasons have to
do with technology and another reason has to do with power. There are more reasons as well.
While I believe that we don t need the Electoral College, if we go with the popular vote then we
could run into issues like the candidates won t actually get more than half of America s vote.
The first reason that I think that we should go with the popular vote is that while the people back
then needed the Electoral College, we don t anymore. Since we have modern technology, we can
be informed by searching the candidates views. Another evidence that we are informed is that
there has only been five times where the popular vote would have given a different president than
what the Electoral college would have picked. That means that the citizens of America are about as
informed as the people in the Electoral college.
The second reason that we should have the people vote instead of the Electoral college is that
the people who aren t part of the Electoral College don t have a say in who our president will be.
The only people who actually have a say is the people involved in the electoral college and that is
only 538 people. There are more than 300 million people who should actually get to choose.

second piece of evidence would be that the candidates would not have any regional favorites

Disability Reflection
Prior to the course, Perspectives on disability, my understanding of disability was a fundamental,
concept of disability, in which I knew it existed, and also have seen and interacted with people
considered to have a disability. I never took a deep look at all the social and political factors that
exist within the spectrum of disability. This course has allowed me to examine all aspects of
disability, which has changed my view and approach of what a disability is and how it is
viewed. Historically, disability has been viewed fundamentally as a persoal tragedy, which has
resulted in diasbled people being seen as objects of pity or in need of charity. They have been
subject to descriminatory policies and practices in which the predominant images of passivity
and helplesness reinforced their inferior status (Barton 4). Uncovering the framework of
disability, by studying the historical, soicial political and educational standpoint, I see the
intricacies in which gives me a greater understanding and awareness of the topic. In a me driven
society we often don t take the time, to look at life through a different lens other than what you
may personally experience on a daily basis. In striving for a more perfect society we must be
able to do just that, try to see life from other people s perspectives, to try to envision what life
might be like for people who face an onslaught of racism, sexism, all the isms you can think of. in
a societal construct in, which is designed for a few. People with disabilities are constantly being
discriminated upon even though there a law in place, in attempts to bring equality for all.
Eventhough I believe it s necessary to be cognizant of other peoples experiences, and not
judging people from the surface. In the same light people with disabilities don t often view
themselves as being disabled. For eample many disabled people do not consider their disability a
flaw or personal deficit with good reason. They are comfortable with who they are, and they do
not wish to be fixed or cured (Disablity Theory4). Through this course study, including course
readings and classroom discussions, has allowed me to view disability with a whole new scope and

Museum Misconceptions
This thesis focuses on archaeology programming in museums and the common visitor
misconceptions about archaeology that museum educators face, especially those promoted by
popular culture. By recognizing the notions and understanding of archaeology that visitors and
program participants carry with them, museums can create truly educational programs that go

misconceptions of archaeology are commonly held by museumvisitors, what their source is, and
how museum programming can address these notions.

Longfellow- Writing Incorporates Religion
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow incorporates religious themes into his poetical work. His religious
beliefs were in favor of his Christian faith, unlike others who found all the negative aspects of
Catholicism. His poetical works such as Christus , The Divine Tragedy and The Bells of San Blas
show his positivity toward the Catholic church. In Longfellow s life, he went through periods of
depression as a reaction to his wives deaths. During these times of sorrow, Longfellow turned to his
faithwhich helped him move through the mourning process. In Longfellow s pre poet days, he
served as a priest and went to college attending a religious class. Longfellow took his religion
seriously, and expressed his fealty through his work.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Stanza two in God s Acre insinuates how sacred the name God s Acre is and how the deceased
are comfortable in their graves knowing that they are going toward heaven. In Blind Bartimeus ,
Longfellow inserts religion throughout the whole poem. For example line four It is Christ of
Nazareth! exclaims the coming of Christ. This poem tells the tale of Christ curing the blind.
Longfellow shows his faith through this poem telling about a common bible story. Longfellow s
recoil from several aspects of the contemporary religious scheme cause him to lose much of his
professional hope for the future.
Another work of Longfellow that included his faith was entitled The Divine Tragedy . A
character in The Divine Tragedy named Martha says, Lord, dost thou care not that my sister
Mary hath left me thus to wait on thee alone? I pray thee, bid her help me. Longfellow shows
Jesus s superiority through this character. Jesus always helped people in need, and throughout
the epic, Longfellow uses characters to ask for help from Christ in order to show his divine trait
and the helper of all in need. This play was composed in three acts and was based on the biblical
account of Christ s life. Longfellow intended to be a treatment of Hebraism and Hellenism.
Hebraism is the religion of Jewish people who practice based on the Old Testament and the
Talmud, and Hellenism is the principle and ideals associated with classical Greek civilization. The

Analysis Of The Absurd
The Absurd
It is safe to say the idea of absurdism can be linked to meaningless, and other such words that
express a destination without the means to there and vice versa. In Camus famous fictional novel,
he shows how one s perception of life can be effected when faced with death. The Stranger reflects
Camus philosophical stance on absurdism. There is no truth, no certainty, or any unwavering, non
relative laws in life. There is no sense in pursuing impossibilities. But if life is in a sense pointless,
why continue living?
It seems as if Meursault does not want himself to be happy. This can be assumed from reading
the text. More specifically from chapter six of the Stranger on pages forty seven through fifty
nine. He could have had new job which would have paid substantially more in Paris, a loving
girlfriend whom wanted to marry him despite his flaws, and seemingly reliable and trustworthy
friends. Meursault had so many doors open for him filled with opportunities but he throws all his
chances of happiness away once he murders the Arab man on the beach.
Existence can be categorized as standing out or doing something that sets you aside from others
and the environment. Meursault s only desire was to be free from hope because hope meant that
there was a disconnection between who he should ve been and who he actually was. His only
wish was to almost blend into his environment or in other words become invisible to society so he
didn t have to be who the rest of the world

Noah, The Ark Builder
Noah, the ark builder finds favor with God amidst destruction and evokes the trait of being loyal.
This trait represents Noah s character well because he put great trust in God and did whatever
he needed to do to save humanity and make sure that life for all living creatures were pleasant.
Noah listened to God and understood why God felt the way he did about the world, he also
played a vital role in the building of the ark that saved he, his family, and living creatures from
the flood, and lastly, abided by the covenant that God made with him. Because of Noah s
obedience for God throughout the flood and covenant, this paper will argue that the central
character trait of Noah is loyalty. Before understanding the way in which Noah is loyal, it is
important to understand where his actions are coming from. The name Lamech appears in both
genealogies, the Cainite and Sethite. In contrast to Cainite Lamech, Sethite Lamech is
anticipating Noah s birth as a possible solution to the problems that are brought about by sin. The
verse in which Lamech names Noah (Gen 5:29) is pivotal; it looks backs to the pronouncement of
divine judgement while also looking forward to Noah and his relationship with God. Adam s
disobedience has sentenced humanity to hard labor and pain from which there seems to be no
relief. Lamech longs that his son may bring some comfort, and he calls him Noah with this in
mind. Lamech hoped that Noah would be able to work hand and hand with God to restore what used

colonization of their land came with diligent work due to the fact that when colonizing most did
not succeed on their first try. There are struggles with opposing colonies trying to fight over land
that both places want for themselves. The best part about this is the land they receive can be used
for valued goods.
The Spanish colonization all began with Columbus in 1492 and advancing for nearly 350 years.
Spain conquered and settled most of South America and the Caribbean. Accordingly, it all started
when Columbus had been searching for a new route to the Indies. Columbus was sure that he had
found it, so he continued his voyages. Settlements by the Spanish that were found earlier were on
the islands of the Caribbean. On Columbus s fourth and final voyage in he found a large canoe off
the coast of what is now Honduras filled with trade goods. He boarded the canoe and rifled through
the cargo which included cacao beans, copper, flint axes, copper bells, pottery, and colorful cotton
garments. He took one prisoner and what he wanted from the cargo and let the canoe continue. This
was the first contact that the Spanish had with the civilizations of Central America, and this would
further influence the Spanish. Another thing that erupted was The Treaty of Tordesillas, which was
an attempt

Parasite-Host Relationships
Organisms in an ecosystem have relationships with individuals of their own species, individuals of
different species, and non living resources. A group of different species living within an ecosystem
is called a community. The relationships within a community of organisms can be grouped into
different types of interactions, including predator prey relationships and symbiotic relationships.
An animal that hunts and eats other animals is called a predator. The animal that gets eaten is
called a prey animal. Predator prey relationships involve both adaptations of the predator to catch
the prey and adaptations of the prey to avoid the predator. Population sizes are also connected to this
relationship. When a prey population changes, the predator ... Show more content on

These are relationships in which individuals live close to each other for extended periods of time.
In a parasite host relationship, one organism benefits at the expense of the other organism.
Typically, the host organism is not killed by the parasite. A tick attaching itself to a deeris an
example of a parasite host relationship. The tick is the parasite, and the deer is the host.
In symbiotic mutualism, the two organisms benefit each other. A good example is the relationship
between some ants and acacia trees. Acacia trees have large thorns that the ants can hollow out and
live inside. The trees also excrete sweet nectar that feeds the resident ants. In return, the ants benefit
the acacia tree by attacking any insects that attempt to eat the tree.
Commensalism refers to a relationship in which one organism benefits and the other organism is
not significantly affected. The relationship between cattle and birds called cattle egrets is a good
example of commensalism. As cattle graze in grasslands, they disturb many insects that hide among
the grasses. Egrets follow the cattle and eat the insects that are disturbed by the grazing cattle. The
egrets benefit, but the cattle are not significantly affected by this

The Basilica Of Rome
QUINTUS OCTAVIUS exited his litter, having just traversed the winding streets and narrow
avenues of the Aventine, and hurried up the steps of the Basilica Julia. He had just concluded
some business for his client Lollius Capito, leasing out some empty warehouses to a Sicilian
merchant, whilst selling the deed of another to a vintner from Antium, liquidating some of
Capito s vacant properties. It was late afternoon and the Forum was bustling, for it was business
as usual here in the great city of Rome; Octavius scarcely arrived at the proposed hour of his
appointment for all the pedestrian hubbub and cart traffic afoot. Rome is ever the center of
commerce and trade in the Empire, he thought wryly. Alexandria is but a small time metropolis
compared to our fabulous Eternal City! Octavius had other important business to transact today,
but under the roof and ample porticoes of the Basilica Julia, the greatest courthouse in Rome. He
strode into the Great Hall of the Basilica on his way to meet a friend, another lawyer, and one
who had some titillating information to relay. He politely pushed his way past knots of loitering
equestrians and toga clad patricians, making his way to the second floor where the light streamed
abundantly through the windows of the upper clerestory. It was there he was to meet an old friend
and former associate. Octavius found him amid an audience of very respectable men, listening to
the strong lunged orator pleading before one of the four tribunals

CHAPTER 3
Comparison with Edgar Allan Poe, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Agatha Christie
When we talk about creation of fictional detectives, the one author who made the most famous
and celebrated fictional detective was Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Rowling have followed the
tradition of creating a fictional detective and weaving the cases around him, like in The Cuckoo s
Calling, not only are we taken in depth of the life of the murdered model, we are also given the
flashbacks and understanding of Cormoran Strike himself, which isn t done by either Sir Arthur
Conan Doyle or Agatha Christie, who created two different series of stories and novels of two
different fictional detectives, namely, Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple. We aren t given any

Strike was appointed to fail at his job and wasn t taken as a person who can successfully pull off
the job of a detective. But of course, the success of the detective in the novel is always predicted;
except for Agatha Christie s And Then There were None where no one could solve the mystery
until they found the letter which explained everything. The killer was obsessed with killing
people, but at the same time did not want to kill innocent people, he wanted to create a mystery
which no one could solve and in this novel, the success was achieved by the

Bodybuilding Subculture

building muscle. These individuals place a priority on exercising and eating a proper diet the will
create the most amount of muscle. Due to the amount of time a bodybuilder spends at the gym
exercising along with their similar goals interest in their bodybuilding; bodybuilders end up
spending a lot of their free time together and in association with other bodybuilders much more than
others.
The history of bodybuilding started by Eugene Sandow born in Prussia in 1867 is known as The
Father of Bodybuilding . Sandow was one of the first people in the history to reach this level of
muscular perfection. At the age of 19, he was using body building as a form of entertainment by
showing off his barbell and strong muscles. Soon enough Sandow had a large group of people
following him, who were inspired by his strength and skills. The point of bodybuilding at this time
was not so much for physical appearance but more for showing the audience the men strength.
These entertainers were called strong men and they would often compete to see who was stronger
than the other one. However many of these strong men were overweighted and unattractive in
comparison of today expectation of a typical bodybuilder. It was still a while before the
bodybuilding subculture that we know today with its emphasis on looks, muscles and strength were
materialized.
The subculture of female bodybuilders is currently

Theoretical Review On Performance Management
This chapter examines the relevant literature to this study. It evaluates the idea of performance
management and how its role on the production of employees and the performance of the
organization.
2.2 Theoretical Review
2.2.1 Institutional Theory
Institutional theory refers to a form of policy that is created with an emphasis on the legal and
regulatory framework of government structures (Kraft, 2007). It is a widely adopted theoretical
standing that puts emphasis on reasonable myths and legitimacy (Scott, 2008). Institutional theory
is made up of two dominant trends; Old institutionalism and new institutionalism. New
institutionalism rejects the rational models behind historical economics, instead seeking cultural
and cognitive interpretations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Instead, the optimal course of action is a factor of the internal and external situation. Gareth Morgan
in his book Images of Organization , describes Organizations as open systems that need careful
management to satisfy and balance internal needs and to adapt to environmental circumstances.
Gareth further states that, there doesn t exist one single best way of organizing tasks in an
institution. The appropriate technique purely depends on sort of task at hand or the prevalent
environment. Gareth emphasizes that Management must be concerned, above all else, with
achieving alignments and good fits. Some important contingencies for management include;
Technology, suppliers and distributors, consumer and interest groups, customers and competitors,
governments and labour unions. Other situational or contingency factors are changes in customer
demand for goods and services, change in government policy or law, change in environment or
climate change, and so forth (Heinz, 2012). The theory provides for leaders who are able to meet
the changing needs of the environment as they

Natural Disaster Indonesia Essay
Disaster, both natural and man made, are increasing in their frequency and catastrophic impact in
Indonesia. Natural hazards like landslides, avalanches, floods and debris flows can result in
enormous property damage and human casualties in mountainous regions (Matternicht, 2005).
Earthquake, flood, landslide, subsidence are only a few to mention (Walter et al., 2008; Abidin
et al., 2009, Chini et al., 2008; US. Geology Survey, 2006; Tsuji et al., 2009). The term natural
disaster has been brought as a common vocabulary to our daily life as news bringing information
on natural disaster is occurring in any parts of our planet recently. Planet Earth provides us with
the air, food, warmth, and materials we need to thrive. But Earth can also generate catastrophic
disasters, from tsunamis and landslides to tornadoes and wildfires, that kill people, damage the
environment, destroy property, and disrupt normal life. Such disasters may be sudden and violent,
like an earthquake or flood, or gradual, like drought or the spread of a deadly disease. Due to the
lack or inadequate disaster prevention and mitigation strategies in Indonesia, the impact of disasters
which they do occur is much greater than in other developed countries. Disaster detection and
monitoring are essential aspect in disaster mitigation and it s conventionally done by ground survey.
Nowadays, remote sensingplays important role in disaster mitigation.
The subsidence phenomena in Jakarta have been studied using

He is the shadiest operator in this region and would shoot his mother for a buck. What a crook!
One of the people at lunch, Joe Stucko, says: I agree with you. Chetum stole my plans for
converting old HVAC systems to new ones. I should sue him for stealing my ideas. Knarles later
learns from his son of the agreement that he entered into with Cheatum on behalf of the firm.
Knarles calls Chetum and tells him he wants no part of the agreement and tells him he will
messenger a check over to his office minus the charge for the work already completed by the
plumber. Chetum sues for breach of contract. Some of the legal actions that can be taken are as
follows. Defamation The comments Joe Stucko made are clearly factual. Assuming that they are
made with knowledge of falisity or reckless disregard of the truth, then Stucko is liable for
defamation. However, the truth is an absolute defense for defamation so, if Stucko s statements are
true, then he is not liable for defamation. In regards to other legal issues that are to be addressed I
will break them down by a case by case basis. Residents vs. Chetum Under common law, Battery is
an intentional harmful or offensive touching of one another without consent or privilege. When

Compare And Contrast Iroquois And Delian League
Two of the most iconic confederacies in history, the Iroquois and Delian League have shaped the
cultural landscapes of North America and Greece respectively. Despite the similar democratic
principles in both regions, the confederacies incentives for their beginnings were vastly different, as
the Iroquois was seen to sustain internal safety with expansionist policies, while the Delian League
was to resist external pressure without any imperialist motives.
The beginnings of the Iroquois confederacy were triggered by the prevalent ethnic tensions between
the many nations in the North American region. Established prior to European contact in the
1450s, the idea of a confederacy was masterminded by the Peacemaker, commonly known as
Dekadawina. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Kinship was traced through the female line, as the Western headed father figure consisted of the
progeny of the woman and her female descendants. On a macro scale, the family was integrated
into a system of clans, clans into nations, and ethnic groups into the confederation. This
confederation featured a system known as the Grand Council , where each associated family would
be placed in a hierarchy. The hierarchy would dictate the tasks each family or nation would be
responsible for. Within the council itself, the decision making process resembles that of a two
house congress in one body, with the older brothers , the nations of the Mohawk and Onondaga,
and younger brothers , the nations of the Cayuga and Oneida each comprising a side of the
house. Between these two distinct houses, the older brothers of the Mohawk and Onondaga
occupy an executive role, hence its name, and possess a veto that could be overridden by both
the younger brothers as part of the process. The resulting decision by the Mohawk and Onondaga
are not final, however, as the head chief of the organization, known as the Hononwiretonh, whose
duty is to sit and listen to the debate, is the final voice within this decision process. As can be seen,
this legislative system provides for numerous checks and balances of power and depends on

Dengue fever and Chikungunya are potentially fatal, viral ailments that have no present day treatment apart from treating patient s symptoms (Oxitec, United States ). According to the Florida Keys MosquitoControl Division (FKMCD), they present efforts for fighting off these mosquitoes is using insecticides; achieving a 50% eradication rate( Oxitec OX513A Trial ). Oxitec believes that it has come up with a solution to combat the growth of Aedes aegypti populations using genetically engineered sterile male Aedes aegypti to sire offspring that will not survive into adulthood(Oxitec, United States ). With as much positive information that the FKMCD presents for Oxitec, they make little provision for debate. Beowulf was a poem that some scholars have suggested was made at the end of the 10th century (Harrison, Beowulf). The question of why Beowulf does things he does always comes into play. The story of Beowulf starts off when he is in Geatland and hears that the Danes are being attacked by a monster. Beowulf sails to Denmark to help them. It should be noted that the Geats and Danes are not friendly towards each other. Beowulf defeats both monsters that attack Heorot Hall and returns to Geatland to become king. • 5. The Major Characters Of Responsibility In A Tale Of Two... Whether it is studying for a difficult project, running from danger, or working to hit a goal at a certain time, perseverance is necessary to help one carry himself or herself. Sometimes it stands for something simple. Sometimes it means life, death, or even self worth. Thus, perseverance can be defined as someone or something trying to complete a task no matter the degree of challenge or obstacles. Perseverance is a trait shared by a few of the major characters in the stories, A Tale of Two Cities and Les Miserables including the protagonists and antagonists. Dr. Manette shows perseverance in many ways in the story, A Tale of Two Cities. Charles Darnay, the own nephew of the Marquis St. Evremond who banished him to the Bastille for eighteen years, tries to marry his daughter by making promises with Dr. Manette. This shows that he is a man who displays great perseverance when selecting the best husband for his daughter, one that will make her happy. He also exhibits great perseverance when Darnay gets put on trial many times and Dr. Manette tries to prove his innocence using many resources. Lastly, he shows perseverance when he tries to work through his multiple relapses. These are times in which he almost seems lifeless and mechanical. Of the many representations of Dr. Manette s relapses, his situation with Darnay marrying Lucie is similar to Cosette s love for Marius and the approval of her father in a few aspects. • 6. John Foster s Celebration Of Discipline Celebration of Discipline In this chapter of Celebration of Discipline, Foster expands on the idea of service within Christianity. Toward the beginning of the chapter Foster brings to light what self righteous service versus true service looks like. Overall self righteous service seeks to please ones self and desires, not the person they should be serving. Another main point that is brought up is the relationship between humility and service. Foster says, Service is the most conductive to the growth of humility. Humility is not something to be focused on, but something that comes when we engage in true service. The chapter then goes on the list all the different ways to serve including the service of small things, guarding the reputation of others, common courtesy, hospitality, listening, bearing burdens, and sharing the word of Life.... Another point that I connected with was when Foster talks about the service of hospitality. I believe this is something we do in our home and it has been such a blessing to my family. Our want to be hospitable to people who are traveling or need a place to stay has been an incredible experience. • 7. External Forces Of Darkness In Shakespeare s Play By... External forces of darkness Darkness is always associated with evil and to a certain extent deception. In our society, darkness tends to be the primary characteristic of evil. It is also associated with the supernatural, something Shakespeare uses a lot in his plays. William Shakespeareemploys the imagery of darkness throughout his tragedyplays, although to different extents. He uses dark images often to describe the horrors and the evils the characters portray, and these intensified internal tragic flaws are typically the result of their own doom. Noticeably Shakespeare Likes to use supernatural effects to create eerie and unsettling feelings amongst the audience and or readers. The forces of darkness of Shakespeare s tragic protagonists come from the idea that the characters themselves are the reason these bad things happen to them, because they cannot control their internal tragic flaws which overall in the end turns into evil. This however makes the characters so fascinating to watch. The external forces of darkness are an aspect of these four tragedies that do play an important role in the plays. The understanding I got from this connection was that instead of blaming their weaknesses on themselves the protagonists blamed forces of darkness for their own issues. Although this evilness was there it wasn t the root cause of the characters going out of control. It showed me that people are always going to find any way to take the blame off themselves and put it on others because it is one of the best coping mechanism. The fall of the characters are triggered by external darkness. External darkness comes within a character from evil forces. And it seems the protagonists blame their own internal flaws on this external evil. The characters are driven by this darkness to create devastation inside the play. For example, Hamlet s death is the end of an external wickedness which follows him throughout the plays. And like the death of King Lear s beloved daughter Cordelia we see that force of darkness become overwhelming. Macbeths external force of darkness ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A couple of abuses that were greatly stressed were the selling of indulgences, simony, and nepotism. It was some of these same abuses that prompted German reformist Martin Luther to write his 95 Theses. And for the Council of Trent to later address them in a series of meetings. The most criticized abuse of the Roman Catholic Churchwas the selling of indulgences by the pope. Indulgences permitted people to buy release from time in purgatory for both themselves and their deceased loved ones. They were papers sold in order to bring remission of punishment due to sins. Another common abuse that existed in the Church was simony. Simony is the act of selling of Church positions. The Church had permitted important ecclesiastical posts to be sold to the highest bidders and had left residency requirements in the religious community unenforced. A last abuse of the Church is nepotism. Nepotism is the act of giving jobs to family members instead of giving it to more qualified workers. This was a common problem where a well trained and dedicated worker was needed and not just anyone. In 1517, when reformist Martin Luther wrote an indictment of the abuses of the Roman Catholic Churchcalled the 95 Theses, he appealed to many people across Europe. Animals kill to eat, to defend themselves, or their own, and to protect their territory. Not for the joy of it. Not for the lust of it. In this quote by Jim Butcher, animals are depicted as creatures who live to guard their possessions because they have to. Human beings adhere similar qualities to animalistic behaviors. Animals must be hostile or hold violent behaviors or attitudes toward another ready to attack or to confront their prey or intruders. By studying animal behavior, humans gain insight on their own. • 24. Lord Of The Flies Egalitarianism Lord of the Flies is an allegorical novel by William Golding, telling the tale of a group of young boys and how their attempt to recreate civilization on a deserted island eventually leads to savagery and primitivity. In the beginning of the novel, the boys discover a conch shell, and use it as a way to promote democracy by letting whoever hold it speak uninterrupted. The elected leader of the boys also encourages the rest to build a signal fire in hopes of getting rescued. Near the climax of the novel, after savagery has taken over most of the boys, a sow s head, named as Lord of the Flies, is cut and given as an offering to a beast that the boys believe exists somewhere on the island. Simon, the purest of all the children, encounters the Lord of the Flies, which speaks to him: You knew didn t you? I m part of you? I m the reason why it s no go? (143). The diction in this segment conveys to the reader that the beast the boys are afraid of, exists in themselves, preventing them from even having a chance of being rescued. The novel proceeds on an even ghastlier path when the Lord of the Flies tells Simon, You re not wanted. Understand? We re going to have fun on this island (144). From these sentences the reader has confirmed that Simon is unwanted by the rest of the savages because he is not a savage himself. When the Lord of the Flies says that they are going to have fun on the island, it means to tell Simon that the savages form of fun has changed from playing in the sand and water, to hunting and killing. Perhaps the most crucial piece of dialogue coming from the Lord of the Flies, is when it tells Simon that [they] shall do [him]. Jack and Roger and Maurice and Robert and Bill and Piggy and Ralph. Do [him] (144). This conversation is a way of foreshadowing Simon s murder; the Lord of the Flies refers to this as doing him. There is also great significance in the sow s head mentioning all of the boys names, including those who don t seem to be savages, like Ralph and Piggy. This is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many good games are overlooked for the more mainstream ones such as Call of Duty whose games are extremely popular but at best subpar. One of the best new shooters on the market today is Rainbow six Siege . One of many games in the Rainbow six saga, Siege is the newest addition to Tom Clancys brainchild tactical shooterseries. The gamefeatures realistic five on five tactical combat between two teams. One of the teams attacks, while the other defends. In today s entertainment heavy and device rich world, today s youth have more choices as to where in to invest their focus. As a result of these plentiful distractions, misconceptions and lores are developing around the actual, factual instances of Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder among today s young learners. Regardless of what these public beliefs suggest, research on the disorder and the scientific method has more substantial information to provide. For this reason, ADHD s contentious reputation entitles it to an intricate overview. Indeed, scientists and research support that ADHD is a diagnosable condition that can be found among young students, has a homogenous set of treatment options, renders a student eligible for educational assistance in a majority of today s classrooms, in spite of its semi controversial reputation. For starters, in the process of classifying a medical disorder, there must be an observable set of abnormal mental or physical processes. Secondly, the world of medicine prefers and requires a large body of research and peer review of proposed symptoms before a disorder is officially labeled a disorder. This comparison was on average against 21 countries. These reports were started in 2000, where they resembled a report card of the comparisons but the latest one was February 2007. The report has some interesting and detailed information on contributing factors on children poverty. The first contributor I will discuss is emotional and social issues for poor children. These problems include impulsive behaviors, lack of social skills, anxiety, depression and low self esteem. These problems make it difficult for future success in school or work as they grow. While I believe that we don t need the Electoral College, if we go with the popular vote then we could run into issues like the candidates won t actually get more than half of America s vote. The first reason that I think that we should go with the popular vote is that while the people back then needed the Electoral College, we don t anymore. Since we have modern technology, we can be informed by searching the candidates views. Another evidence that we are informed is that there has only been five times where the popular vote would have given a different president than what the Electoral college would have picked. That means that the citizens of America are about as informed as the people in the Electoral college. The second reason that we should have the people vote instead of the Electoral college is that the people who aren t part of the Electoral College don t have a say in who our president will be. Disability Reflection Prior to the course, Perspectives on disability, my understanding of disability was a fundamental, concept of disability, in which I knew it existed, and also have seen and interacted with people considered to have a disability. I never took a deep look at all the social and political factors that exist within the spectrum of disability. This course has allowed me to examine all aspects of disability, which has changed my view and approach of what a disability is and how it is viewed. Historically, disability has been viewed fundamentally as a persoal tragedy, which has resulted in diasbled people being seen as objects of pity or in need of charity. They have been subject to descriminatory policies and practices in which the predominant images of passivity and helplesness reinforced their inferior status (Barton 4). Uncovering the framework of disability, by studying the historical, soicial political and educational standpoint, I see the intricacies in which gives me a greater understanding and awareness of the topic. In a me driven society we often don t take the time, to look at life through a different lens other than what you may personally experience on a daily basis. In striving for a more perfect society we must be able to do just that, try to see life from other people s perspectives, to try to envision what life might be like for people who face an onslaught of racism, sexism, all the isms you can think of. in a societal construct in, which is designed for a few. People with disabilities are constantly being discriminated upon even though there a law in place, in attempts to bring equality for all. Eventhough I believe it s necessary to be cognizant of other peoples experiences, and not judging people from the surface. In the same light people with disabilities don t often view themselves as being disabled. For eample many disabled people do not consider their disability a flaw or personal deficit with good reason. They are comfortable with who they are, and they do not wish to be fixed or cured (Disablity Theory4). In Longfellow s life, he went through periods of depression as a reaction to his wives deaths. This poem tells the tale of Christ curing the blind. Longfellow shows his faith through this poem telling about a common bible story. In Camus famous fictional novel, he shows how one s perception of life can be effected when faced with death. The Stranger reflects Camus philosophical stance on absurdism. There is no truth, no certainty, or any unwavering, non relative laws in life. There is no sense in pursuing impossibilities. But if life is in a sense pointless, why continue living? It seems as if Meursault does not want himself to be happy. This can be assumed from reading the text. More specifically from chapter six of the Stranger on pages forty seven through fifty nine. This trait represents Noah s character well because he put great trust in God and did whatever he needed to do to save humanity and make sure that life for all living creatures were pleasant. Noah listened to God and understood why God felt the way he did about the world, he also played a vital role in the building of the ark that saved he, his family, and living creatures from the flood, and lastly, abided by the covenant that God made with him. Because of Noah s obedience for God throughout the flood and covenant, this paper will argue that the central character trait of Noah is loyalty. Before understanding the way in which Noah is loyal, it is important to understand where his actions are coming from. The name Lamech appears in both genealogies, the Cainite and Sethite. In contrast to Cainite Lamech, Sethite Lamech is anticipating Noah s birth as a possible solution to the problems that are brought about by sin. The verse in which Lamech names Noah (Gen 5:29) is pivotal; it looks backs to the pronouncement of divine judgement while also looking forward to Noah and his relationship with God. Their land was either colonized for trade, profit, and religious freedom. The colonization of their land came with diligent work due to the fact that when colonizing most did not succeed on their first try. There are struggles with opposing colonies trying to fight over land that both places want for themselves. The best part about this is the land they receive can be used for valued goods. The Spanish colonization all began with Columbus in 1492 and advancing for nearly 350 years. Spain conquered and settled most of South America and the Caribbean. Accordingly, it all started when Columbus had been searching for a new route to the Indies. Columbus was sure that he had found it, so he continued his voyages. He had just concluded some business for his client Lollius Capito, leasing out some empty warehouses to a Sicilian merchant, whilst selling the deed of another to a vintner from Antium, liquidating some of Capito s vacant properties. It was late afternoon and the Forum was bustling, for it was business as usual here in the great city of Rome; Octavius scarcely arrived at the proposed hour of his appointment for all the pedestrian hubbub and cart traffic afoot.
