What my classroom will look
like in 25 years?
• by the year 2041, there will be laptops and iPads in every students’
possession.
• Apple and Microsoft will have fully ingrained themselves into the
educational marketplace much like the Borg in Star Trek TNG.
Technology
• There will be a movement away from the ‘classics’ of British and
American Literature and towards more ethnically centrist writing.
• Edwidge Danticat and Khaled Housseini will rule the day.
English
• Change in timelines for each of the US History classes
• US I-American Revolution to World War I
• US II-Treaty of Versailles to Present day
• Focus on Revisionist History
• Gone are the days of ‘History written by the winners.’
History
• Hopefully we will have kicked the whole fossil fuels habit.
• I would also hope that we as a nation can start to get to the point
where we can listen to and understand our adversaries around the
world.
Technological Advances
• in 2041 I will be 71 years old. By that time, I hope that my classroom
is somebody else’s classroom, and the only place I am driving my fuel
cell minivan is to see the grandkids, or haul on down to Fenwick
Island for a couple of months.
