HTML5 is a language for structuring and presenting content for the World Wide Web. it is the fifth revision of the HTML standard (created in 1990 and standardized as HTML4 as of 1997) and as of February 2012 is still under development. Its core aims have been to improve the language with support for the latest multimedia while keeping it easily readable by humans and consistently understood by computers and devices (web browsers, parsers, etc.). It improves interoperability and reduces development costs by making precise rules on how to handle all HTML elements, and how to recover from errors

about this presentation:
1) this presentation was a quickie for non-tech employees, who wanted a basic understanding of html/css, as it related to a white-label SAAS product;
2) the back-end/front-end definitions relate to the specific application (it's inaccurate if node.js is in the picture)
Migrating to HTML5, Migrating Silverlight to HTML5, Migration Applications t...Idexcel Technologies
HTML5 Migration: HTML5 provides developers with powerful, cross-platforms tools for their mobile and web applications, and they get a powerful alternative to the age-old proprietary tools. As it is an open standard, companies can improve its functionality and feature-set as per their requirements.
This is a presentation I use to using get people to be aware of the potential of the semantic web. It has a section on how to promote semantic web standards. I do some strategic analysis of the Semantic Web stack today and apply concepts from technology marketing, economics and technology adoption.

How to Hybrid : Effective Tactics in HTML5-Native App DevelopmentDroidConTLV
Gartner has predicted that by 2016, “more Than 50 Percent of Mobile Apps Deployed Will be Hybrid.” Knowing how and when to utilize HTML5 technology in your application will help you prepare for that future. This lecture will cover several techniques and real life examples on how to utilize hybrid development in your applications. The tools and tactics for how to connect (or bridge) your “native” Java code implementations with HTML5 will be presented with code samples. The lecture will also cover the right and wrong ways to implement HTML5 in your application, and when to “stick to native.”

Definition – Fast Prototyping
Fast or rapid prototyping is a methodical exploration of innovative concept(s) by quick assembly
of pieces either tangible or intangible to validate assumptions which are important to
implement the concept. The outline of this concept is described in article “Intuit Inc. Project
AgriNova” published in HBR by Thomas Eisenmann and Tanya Bijlani. Quickly identifying &
rapidly developing solutions for part of the system which could be potential road blocks is key
to ensure success of the product. This does not need complete development of all (or some)
parts
Problem Statement
Our organization is specialized Business Analytics and Data Management expertise. Among
other things, one of the requests often made by our customer is to give guidance on suitability
of tool (or set of tools) for a particular task. Even though this knowledge is available within our
organization, it is dispersed as the consultants are working with different customer.
We set out to address the issue of
- timely availability of comparison metrics across tools
- continuous update to the metrics being used to compared
After discussing with our executives we decided to build a web based application internally so
that we can feed in the comparison data on continuous basis without spending too much time
on reconciliation efforts.
There were few challenges to be resolved while addressing the issues given in problem
statement. We conducted a brainstorming session within our organization. The outcome of this
session was a list of important components outline of which is as follows:
- User Interface: The UI should be easy to use and intuitive enough to hide the complexity
underneath. Unless the tool is easy to use people will be reluctant to use it.
- Data Update: The data should be fed in on continuous basis to ensure updates for the
tools to be compared are captured on regular basis. If the data is stale it will raise the
credibility issue of the presented comparison. We cannot compare data of outdated
version of the tools.
- Contextual Text Mapping: The biggest issue is contextual mapping of text which
describes a particular feature of tool, product or application.
Of course this list is not comprehensive, but we need to address these points to ensure viability
of the entire efforts.
I think using “Fast Prototyping” to validate the feasibility of the components is best course of
action before attempting to build this product.
Leap of Faith
Can we build & expand? As the data volume increase the methods employed, especially the
algorithm employed will perform satisfactorily? We decided to find this out.
Can we win? We did not spend great amount of time with user experience. We took a leap of
faith by assuming that the team who participated in building UX is representative of future
users. I think we should be able to tweak UI based on usage analytics and.
In an agile environment, establishing usability and user experience as the responsibility of the UX team is destined for conflict and frustration. Learn how transferring this ownership onto the cross-functional team ultimately responsible for delivering the experience builds trust and empowerment and ultimately provides an environment that fosters collaboration, growth and innovation. This presentation will discuss the evolution of incorporating UX into agile at AppFolio, the roles and makeup of our development teams as they exist today, and some examples of how those teams collaborate around design solutions when tackling big feature enhancements on our mature product.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.

Design Principal #2 Compatibility • Pave the cow paths • Degrade gracefully • Research common behavior; solve real problems • Support existing content • Evolution not revolution • Don’t reinvent the wheel (or at least make a 16 better one!) Design Principal #3 Utility • Priority of Constituencies: o When in doubt… value users over authors, over implementers (browsers), over specifiers (W3C/WHATWG), over theoretical purity. • Secure by design • DOM consistency (HTML5 and XHTML5) • Separation of presentation and content Design Principal #4 Interoperability • Specify well-defined behavior o Specific instead of vague • Handle errors well o Improved and ambitious error handling plans o Prefer graceful error recovery to hard failure • Avoid needless complexity o Simple is better Design Principal #5 Universal Access • Support for all world languages o For example, <ruby> (Ruby annotations, used in East Asian typography) • Accessibility o Support users with disabilities o Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) Accessible Rich Internet Applications (ARIA) o WAI-ARIA roles can be added today 24 o Supported by screen readers
So now that we’ve given you the background of HTML5, some of its features, and implications for the future of web development, how can you apply it in a practical situation? Developers need to ask: How is my site going to be used? Is search engine traffic an important part of my business model? If you answer “yes” to this question, a Flash-based website is out of the question. The reason? Search engines cannot parse any content inside a Flash “movie” (well, ALMOST none) and probably won’t be able to for the forseeable future. Not all HTML-based websites are necessarily search-engine friendly, but if you hope to get traffic from Google, Yahoo, MSN, and Ask eventually, you’ll need to start with an HTML-based website. 2) How will my site be accessed? If so, you’ll probably want to go with an HTML-based site. The increasing prevalence of broadband lines (and access to even higher speeds in a typical corporate environment, like T1 or T3) makes Flash a more appropriate option for a much wider variety of sites than it used to be. But it still takes, on average, 5-10 times as long for a Flash-based website to load as one based in HTML, simply because the file size is necessarily high to accommodate all the bells and whistles that go along with it. Users on a slower connection won’t appreciate the longer download time, and may click to another website before yours even loads. 3) Is the feel of the user experience absolutely critical to my product or service? Fashion companies, high-end real estate developers or agents, art & design professionals, and young or high-end retail brands are just a few of the industries for whom user experience can make or break their website, so it would make sense to go with Flash. For these companies, word of mouth traffic is far more important than search engine traffic, where the only search terms these companies really need to show up for is their own name, or the name of their product. This limited amount of search engine optimization (SEO) can be done fairly easily without compromising the design. 4) How often will my site need to be updated? If you think you’re going to be adding pages, changing copy around, or building out new sections of your website fairly consistently (say, more than 3-4x a year), you should stay away from Flash. Even for the most experienced Flash programmer, building out new pages & sections can be very time-consuming (and thus very expensive for you). Once an HTML layout is set up, any new content can be dropped in fairly easily. In summary, HTML is relatively scalable, while Flash is relatively UN-scalable. 5) How much content do I have? If you’ve got a bunch of content (more than 20-30 pages), a Flash website may be not only file-size prohibitive, but cost-prohibitive. The three Flash websites I cited above either have a ridiculous ad budget (Rolex/Nike) to spend on huge sites, or a talented in-house team of designers (SOM). For small businesses, this often means HTML is the way to go.
Function – HTML5 provides native support for many features that were only possible with plugins or complex hack so Plugins may not be installed Plugins can be disabled or blocked (iPad does not ship with Flash plugin) Plugins are a separate attack vector Plugins are difficult to integrate with the rest of an HTML document (plugin boundaries, clipping, and transparency issues) Plugins are crash prone Experience – Function –If your site’s core function is in the content you publish, then the interface should take a back seat. Make an interface that’s transparent and not distracting to use. Consider developing with function as the centerpiece when content is the primary focus – news sites, blogs, research sites, etc. Experience – consider developing with “user experience” when you really want to make an impression – launching a new product, the marketing division of a company, building “buzz”, when you want to tell your story
