Industrial engineering integrates knowledge from various fields including technical sciences, economic sciences, and human sciences to increase productivity, achieve quality products, and ensure labor safety. Industrial engineers examine manufacturing and service processes through process analysis. They study how jobs are performed using method study and time study to analyze activities, equipment, operators, and materials involved. Industrial engineers are also involved in operations management, inventory management, design of products, equipment, plants and workstations while considering ergonomics, and developing quality management systems.
