Integrating, exposing and managing distributed data with RESTful APIs and op...3scale
This was a 1h demo and talk co-presented by Red Hat's Cojan van Ballegooijen and 3scale's Manfred Bortenschlager talking about data integration of various diverse sources via data virtualization. Then we exposed the data via RESTful APIs and added the 3scale API Management layer on top to get full control and visibility about API access.
APIs are universal nowadays! From contributing your data to purchasing something on the web to your smartphone, everything returns to APIs. With this point of view, comes API integration. Why do people use third-party API integration services?

At eMerge Technologies, we have integrated dozens of API’s over a period of 15 years. And in doing so, we have developed an “API integration process” that we feel is the best way to bridge two separate applications and have them work together in seamless harmony. Software is eating the world and embedded analytics has grown in popularity over the last few years as a way to get simple, over-the-counter and distraction-free insights in front of software users. Before you start on your embedding journey it’s important to get the basics right to ensure you have the foundation for a successful delivery of over-the-counter data to your users.
When it comes to embedded analytics, it’s easy to see the advantages of providing more intuitive insights (the “why”), but much harder to plan the “how.” This webinar will provide you with the best practices and essentials needed to deliver reporting and dashboards to your users with our award-winning JavaScript API, TIBCO Jaspersoft® Visualize.js™.
Topics Covered:
Jaspersoft® Visualize.js basics – instantiation, authentication, rendering, parameters
Advantages over iFrames and REST APIs
Where to find examples and samples
Demos and Q&A session
Looking to learn about Jaspersoft’s dashboards? Our dashboard software combines data and graphical indicators to deliver at-a-glance summaries of information for users to view the state of their business and quickly respond. They can become highly interactive with hyperlinks and filters, what’s the best way to get started? View the ondemand webinar now.

Taking Big Data to the next level by adding APIs. Thinking through data as a product and how to distribute it. Talk at Strata Hadoop 2014 http://strataconf.com/strataeu2014
In recent years, Jaspersoft has moved from a product that is primarily used from a GUI to a product that is primarily used through an API. While visualize.js is a JavaScript to embed objects like reports and dashboards into a web app, our REST API is primarily used for backend management. This webinar will teach you the basics, what it’s used for and how to get started.
If you have ever been frustrated with your data dictionaries getting stale, you can adopt an API-driven development approach to obtain data definitions from the true, authoritative source in a fully automated fashion that remains current in real-time. This approach uses a variety of free, open source tools and some novel workforce development approaches to tackle this difficult issue. If you would like me to come speak to your business about this method please contact me directly.
An introduction to RESTful Web API design, including HTTP request and response messaging and how they are used in the context of interaction between web or mobile apps and web services.

zkStudyClub - Reef: Fast Succinct Non-Interactive Zero-Knowledge Regex ProofsAlex Pruden
This paper presents Reef, a system for generating publicly verifiable succinct non-interactive zero-knowledge proofs that a committed document matches or does not match a regular expression. We describe applications such as proving the strength of passwords, the provenance of email despite redactions, the validity of oblivious DNS queries, and the existence of mutations in DNA. Reef supports the Perl Compatible Regular Expression syntax, including wildcards, alternation, ranges, capture groups, Kleene star, negations, and lookarounds. Reef introduces a new type of automata, Skipping Alternating Finite Automata (SAFA), that skips irrelevant parts of a document when producing proofs without undermining soundness, and instantiates SAFA with a lookup argument. Our experimental evaluation confirms that Reef can generate proofs for documents with 32M characters; the proofs are small and cheap to verify (under a second).

Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.

2. What is an Open API?
An API provides a mechanism by which external
programs can communicate with an internal
software program and even access or exchange
data.
APIs allows data exchange between websites,
applications and organizations, while the data
source remains in the same place. (Source:
www.web2fordev.net).
APIs are more flexible and powerful than RSS
feeds.
3. What is a mashup?
Applications built using APIs are commonly called
‘mashups’ – combine data and functionality from
different programmes.
Mashups (usually) are about:
Combination
Visualization
Aggregation
In a mashup, the emphasis is on making already
existing data more useful.
For instance, APIs let you grab statistics from a website and use them on your own website. That way one does not have to access individually other websites, but can instantly combine data from different websites (Source: www.web2fordev.net).
