2. What is a family
A family is a specific group of people that may be up in
partners, children, parents, aunts, uncles, and
grandparents. Usually we use the word family to the people
we love.

3. Different ways to make a family
● You can make a family by having a significant other (different
genders) who have sexual intercourse.
● Another way to make a family is adopting a child to make a
nuclear family
● You can also make a family of close friends or family
● If you can't make a nuclear family you can pay a sperm donor
or egg donor.
5. Family structures
Nuclear family: includes 2 parents and children. 70% of
people live in a nuclear family.
Single parent: includes a single parent raising one or more
children on his/her own.
Extended family:is 2 or more adults who are related either
by blood or marriage , living in the same household
(includes many relatives.)includes cousin, aunts/uncles,
and grandparents living together.

Childless family: there are couples that cannot or choose
not to have children. Sometimes called “forgotten family”
sometimes the couples take responsibilities of pets.
Step family: when marriage ends and they claim a divorce
usually many individuals choose to get remarried and they
create a step family which involves two separate families
combined into one unit.

Grandparent family: they raise their grandchildren for
variety of reasons, example: parents died or parents have
an addiction (like drugs) or the children have been
abandoned or the child's parents are unfit parents.

There are 2 bonds in a family.
● Legal bonds: they are legally bond through marriage,
adoptions, and guardianships.
● Blood bonds: people who are directly related through
common ancestor. includes siblings, parents,
grandparents, aunts/uncles, nieces/nephews, and cousins
(family tree)
