Question three!

What have you learnt from your audience feedback?

Yasmeen Melius
Audience feedback~ overview

~In order to receive feedback from peers and others, we collected other people‟s
opinions through different layouts, such as pitches and surveys.
It‟s always good to see other people‟s perspective in order to create improved work.
We made pitches to the class, and explained our ideas and thoughts. We showed them
what we had hoped to achieve and experiments and they gave us their opinions to help
improve our ideas and thoughts. Also, the BTEC group watched our music video and
gave their thoughts about it. It was good to get different feedback, not just from our
class but outside our class too. It helps to see what other‟s think about your work.
Audience feedback pitch ~ Music video plans
•First we started pitching our ideas to the class, about our ideas and thoughts. We told
them where we had planned to shot and what camera shots we had hoped to experiment
with and take. We also let them know about the places we wanted to go such as around
Canary Wharf and Greenwich. The class were very honest and told us that we should be
aware of people while we‟re filming.

•A student told us to be observant around where we were filming, because many people
will be around. Also, a pupil mentioned to be aware of lighting, because we said that we
planned to film in the evening to add more of an effect on the concept of the video. We
did very well with filming, even though we were faced with many obstacles as the
weather changed constantly which caused the footage to shake, which explains that in
the music video and the differences in lighting.

•The feedback helped us think about our plans and to consider people in public places. I
also agreed that we should be careful with people, because we experienced people
walking in front of the camera and ruining our shots. So, we had to be careful with
where we were filming.

•We also made sure that we filmed during the daytime instead of the evening due to
lighting.
Audience feedback ~ BTEC group
•We showed our final finished music video to the BTEC group; it helped to show
other people who we weren‟t familiar with in order to receive a different perspective
which is always good. This helped us to see if there were any problems that we
could fix, and any misunderstandings of the concept of the video even though it‟s
pretty simple. But this was used, to help to make our music video better than it was.

•From watching the pitch that was recorded for us, the students said that they
understood the concept, as it was quite easy to understand due to the “text message”
and “flashbacks”. They knew and were aware that it was a break up music video,
which was good to see that a clear message was sent to the audience which means
that anyone watching should understand.

•However, a pupil stated that we needed more lip syncing, which isn‟t bad feedback,
but isn‟t positive either, which was good to know. A music video of that concept
does have quite a lot of lip syncing and so I shall keep that in thought for the future.
Audience feedback ~ Print products

Unfortunately some people mentioned that our
magazine advert was too simple. We had planned
that we wanted it to be simple but however was
perhaps to simple for the audience? We chose the
colours “black, white, grey and green” and used
that on the magazine advert but people stated that
it was quite “dull”, due to the colours. We thought
about what they had said and had a discussion
about how people would feel if they saw this
magazine advert. Would they want to buy it?
Audience feedback ~ Print products

• When talking to the class about
our ideas for our prints products,
we stated for front and back cover
we wanted to have our main
character “Tyler” against a wall in
this position. On the back cover
we wanted to create continuity like
    a realistic music print product,
inspired by Amerie and others. It‟s
quite a simple cover and we
wanted it to be simple, however
some people disagree with how it
looks and thought that it didn‟t
look as professional as it could
have. They stated that it was far
too simple, and didn‟t seem to
    interest them.
Audience feedback ~ Print products
From the audience feedback that we received on Survey Monkey,
people said that they really liked the inserts and liked the
link/connection they that it had with the music video. It‟s almost like
a reminder, and would remind the people buying the CD of the
music video which is a nice thought. A person stated that they liked
the photo booth pictures placed together, which is positive feedback!
Audience feedback ~ My opinion
From the feedback we received from pupils, and others we were able
to see a different perspective and what other people thought about our
work besides us (the group members). I‟m glad that people liked our
work and we got quite good feedback, not so good feedback is as
helpful too!
Audience feedback ~ Survey Monkey

When we completed our print products package, we wanted feedback from
other people outside our class, so we created a questionnaire from an online site
called „survey monkey‟ to get anonymous feedback from a different class.
Here, placed below are some feedback that we received.
From the feedback from Survey
Monkey, it was overall pretty
positive as the audience understood
our concept and liked our plans and
the way we displayed everything.
