Evelyn Rooney Evaluation Question: What have you learned from your audience feedback?

Workshopping, Advantages? Disadvantages? Difficult to recruit the correct people to start with as I was unsure of the look or style of the film. Helped me find the correct actors that conveyed the characters. I am an in-experienced director so I struggled to get the performances I wanted from some of the cast. Made me feel more comfortable when I got to the real film. I found it difficult to keep the story within Jake’s point of view, as you need to see Lucie build into her hypo or it does not create enough tension or give any reasoning for the attack.  Time consuming when you are restricted by deadlines.
Pre-production Work shopping affected.  Work shopping didn’t affect. The Point of view Time restrictions meant that the boy’s kitchen scene was improvised The amount of scenes This gave me a error in dialogue, that I was unaware off until after filming. It made it seam as if the boys were leaving but I needed them to return to the main room. It then appears to be a continuity error when I need them their.  Introduced the idea of parallel editing The overall story, this stayed the same but the way it was told changed.  Flirty across the room scene at the begging, build up more. Lucie’s ‘drunken’ fit became more dramatised
Post-production ,[object Object],[object Object]
Post production Brainstorm Results The story was still not strong enough from Jake’s point of view. Resulted in Pick up shots of Jake and a re-edit where he was always predominantly on screen.  At the time there was no music present, this did not complete the party atmosphere. Caused me to add in music which had to be un-signed and original.  Some people said it was not obvious what everyone else thought of her. Addition of diegetic sound to make her sound more drunk. Some of the actors felt like they could of given a better performance or were not happy with the outcome. Pick up shots of the most nessercary parts.

Here are some of the responses from Facebook.
Generally the responses were good:  -The main problems which were identified were the fact that the boys entered the room after they said they were going to leave.  -One person did notice that Miles says he was going to get his jacket as he leaves the kitchen which gives the explanation of why they are in the main party room.  -The choice of music was praised a lot while there were mixed feelings about the acting and choice of cast.
