It oversees projects at different stages - from inception where it owns trademarks, to incubating where there are at least 3 independent users, to graduated where committers come from multiple organizations and governance is public. The CNCF is a non-profit housed at the Linux Foundation that advances containers, microservices, and orchestration technologies which together define cloud native applications.
