3. Reflection on my Presentation Preparation
a. The approach for planning my presentation
Preparation of presentation is typically overwhelming experience and it entails fundamental strategies as well as steps that assist in breaking down them into more manageable tasks (Brett, 2019).
I analyzed the audience I was to address in bid to obtain certain fundamental information pertaining to their backgrounds, values, as well as interests, which consequently enable me to understand what the audience members might imagine from my presentation (Harris et al., 2017). Consequently I selected an appropriate topic that is of interest to the audience and me. It is typically much easier to deliver a presentation that the audience finds pertinent, as well as more enjoyable to research.
Thirdly, I defined the objectives of the presentation in a single concise statement. Moreover, the objective mainly specifies exactly those things audiences require to learn from my presentation (Brett, 2019). Moreover, based on the objective coupled with the level of the content on the period I will undertake to deliver my entire in regard delivering background knowledge of the audience.
b. Rehearsing for the presentation
Rehearsal mainly entails praxis, which typically refers to the process of putting theoretical knowledge into practice via a steady cycle of conceptualizing the connotation of the things that can be learned from experience. I rehearsed through undertaking analysis and synthesis by incorporating stimulated experience (Brett, 2019).
During this analysis and synthesis period, i broke down the rehearsal into diverse chunks for analysis, worked with the relatively smaller areas, and consequently strive for the synthesis (Harris et al., 2017). I practiced diverse means of really expressing ideas by determining the best one. Moreover, I used practiced different styles of delivery like speaking either relatively faster or slower.
C.Better suggestions for the preparation in the future
For relatively better preparation in the future, I will utilize my stimulated experience by recording my work to view it later as well as having a trusted friend to assess and offer appropriate feedback.
4. Using Feedback to Refine my Communication
a) Feedback received on my verbal communication from the week 8 Discussion Board
It was noted that I need to improve on my non verbal communication cues, my listening skill as well as my clarification of facts. Non-verbal communication is deemed to be imperative for effective communication and it includes tonal variation, voice quality, making eye contact with the audience, as well as maintaining suit.

3. Feedback
Group A
The overarching goal is well designed, which aims at improving the employee’s
sense of belonging in the organization. A program for speaking skills training should not
only focus on speaking skills, but also it must have further goals, just like Group A
indicated. The part of objectives set by Group A should be more brief and succinct. Since
what participant should gain after this program need to be first presented to
participants at the beginning of the program. If it deliver too much information without
well sortation, people in this program are easy to be confused. Actually, the part of
objectives can focus on the “purpose” and “target”, the part of methods or access is
unnecessary to be described here.
The pre-training/ preparation part is group A’s strength, which indicates what
should be done before the training session; it is a way to help people, not only trainees,
but also trainer, to increase the efficiency of the training. However, trainees should not
be given a lot of time to prepare for the presentation.
We suggest putting this part in the first training session. Since it is a four hour
session, the task of presentation should be given at the beginning of the session, people
will only have time think about the topic they will focus on. In this way, their real
speaking ability and needs can be shown.
Meanwhile, for the session 2, the idea of videoing presentation was impressive.
We agree that it is a wonderful way to find out shortages from an individual anger.
Sometimes, we do not know why or how we speak poorly because we cannot realize
how we act like in front of others, review the video may help people to know more
about themselves
The idea of having the instructor AND the other employees in the session
evaluate each presenter. This is how the instructor did it.The feedback really did help
the learners in the speaking abilities.
However, it’s not sure about the part where it says they would ask people to
"practice" the skills after the first session and then report how these skills impacted
their feelings regarding the skills used. How are they supposed to practice this,
especially if they are in a very busy workplace.
Overall, it is very thorough training plan. Goal for the program seemed workable
and focused. Objectives were well written.Training sequence was well stated. However,
it just seems like a lot of work for a 4 hour session.
4. Group B
The overarching goal set by Group B is a little obscure, which should be avoided
because people may get confused at the first beginning. Also, the goal should not to too
general, it needs at least deliver the message that what kind of training will be given and
what skills may be improved through this program.
For the objective part, we suggest it be more specific, tell people that after the
program, what goals need to be reached and what skills trainees need to have, or at
least, what concepts need to be built in their minds.
The timetable designed by Group B is impressive, which makes people realize what
steps they need to follow during the speaking skill program.
We strongly recommend follow-up after the training because it is important to
make sure people apply what they learn in the program to everyday work. We all know
that two-day’s training can hardly change people’s behavior, mechanism built after the
training for people to enforce speaking skills improvement plan is necessary.
Multiple goals – seemed pretty ambitious for 2 – 4 hour training sessions.
Objectives also seemed like it would be a lot for the allotted time. Maybe should have
focused either on team building or presentation skills.
Well presented.
Group B has well stated goals but believe that this first 8 hour training should be
focused just on presentation/speaking skills and instilling confidence and competence in
the employees. Learners should leave out the "effective team player", "building inter-
team relationship" and " ethics of giving individuals credit for ideas! " and save these
topics for another training session later on.It is more important during this 8 hour
training for employees to become more comfortable and confident speaking in front of
their peers.
