2. Week 1
Me and Sam researched different streaming services online such as
Netflix and Disney plus, we didn’t know exactly what we were doing
but Sam kept getting distracted which distracted me and made the
whole situation worse. My other partner in the group was missing so
that didn’t help. However I got good information on what an average
Netflix user is like in full detail so I worked from that. Sam doesn’t
really do anything I tell him too which is going to take a toll on my
mental health as I’m already panicking for the future.
3. Week 2
We decided that our interpretation of The Grid will be a website where
students can showcase their work and so we looked at different social
medias such as twitter. Twitter was really helpful because it went into
detail on what the average twitter user is and I thought it was
accurate as I use twitter often. Ben made a survey for us which was
good since Sam did nothing all week. I sent the survey to loads of
people and we got at least 25 people to do it so I’m happy Ben is
actually doing something.
4. Week 3
Me and Sam are thinking of an aesthetic to give the website and we
decided on a vaporwave/cyberpunk aesthetic for it. Me and Sam
made a moodboard together and he kept insisting to add a car on the
moodboard which was annoying. Ben wasn’t here when we were
discussing aesthetics but we contacted him via teams and he said its a
good idea. I made some prototype designs at home using Krita just to
get the aesthetic right and discussed it with my group to see if it fit
well into the website. It didn’t but at least we have a prototype.
5. Week 4
Sam and I decided for me to draw a car for the logo but Sam and Ben
aren’t doing anything at all which is making me stressed because I’m
the only one who's doing work. I researched futuristic cars and
decided to model mine after a delorian, I used a vector style and
experimented with a gradient brush on the wheels and the dot brush
and used the colour scheme we made and I think it turned out really
well. However I am struggling to do the work since I’m the only one
who’s actually done everything. But Ben did at least try and make
logos and a website design but they’re not very good and its
incredibly basic.
6. Week 5
I made a website design which is completely different to what Ben
designed but it fits into the theme a lot better. I used vector again to
make it clean and I made a home page and an account details page. I
also used an old drawing I made to use as an example showcase.
7. Week 6
We got individual work to do now thank god and we need to make
content for the grid work and I have decided to make a comic. We
had to pick out a theme and I chose to do a theme of time. The
storyline for the comic is going to be a time traveller going back in
time and teaching cavemen how to fish to advance civilisation and
ends up accidentally deleting ink. This is good because it allows me to
experiment with different styles as the ending is ink being deleted
and everything is in pencil and paper. For my character design for the
time traveller I got inspired by a rapper called Joey Valence and Joey
also reminded me of The Scout from Team Fortress 2 and so I used
inspiration from him too.
8. Week 7
My comic is going along well but I am struggling to move files around
as I draw everything on Krita but the college computers don’t have
that so I have to draw other panels on Photoshop and then switch
back to krita when I get home. However the actual drawing is actually
good and I’m having a lot of fun with it. I sometimes switch around
dialogue to see if it fits well but I think I’ve thought of it well.
9. Week 8
It’s evaluation week and honestly I’m over the deadline but that’s
mostly because of the files. One thing I’m going to change in the
future is either: buy a new laptop I can take to college, just use
photoshop/illustrator or do what I did on this project and draw
different panels on different softwares and hope for the best. It has
been challenging working in a group since I was the person who was
practically doing everything but at least Ben made a survey. Sam
didn’t really do anything at all, he helped me with the moodboard
and wrote a small paragraph explaining the colour scheme. This
project has took a massive toll on my mental health but I’m glad it’s
over.
