3. For experiment 1 I used the smudge
tool to play around a picture of a cat, I
played around with different tools and
the back ground is made with the roll
paint brush which adds texture to the
background. This allows me to
experiment different art styles so with
this cat ended up looking like batman
and I smudged out the eyes and
mouth and ended up looking really
creepy. Everything was made using 2
colours (black and red) and I drew the
outline and experimented with the cat
head and added a body. I slightly
coloured in the head and body to give
it a main colour base the rest was
smudged into place and filled out
everything. You can see the smudge
lines to give it structure and know
which parts of the body is which.
5. For this experiment I decided to focus and a
reverse way to draw a character. I used a
black base for the body and outlined it in
white. The body was made with a spray brush
which adds texture to the character and
makes it shadow-ish. The white outline was
drawn so it gives the character structure. I
chose to draw a reverse way of drawing it
because if I add an evil character to my comic
then this could be a way to show that it’s a
bad character. I got inspired by a Spider-Man
villain called Mr Negative which is a person in
inversed colours which shows that he’s evil.
The background of the image was drawn in a
roll brush again but I made it look more like a
water colour background so I can experiment
with different textures and not just stick to a
simple plain background. Background’s are
important to comics because if it’s too boring
there’s a chance that it doesn’t give the
drawing any life but if the background is too
detailed then people could focus more on the
background rather than the actual character
itself.
7. For this experiment it was interesting
because I wanted to experiment with
character detail. Normally when I
draw very simple characters. When I
drew this one, I started drawing a
random guy which then eventually
modelled it after one of my
classmates. He was doing his work
and I kept on looking at him so I could
get the structure and his anatomy
right. I drew it in sketch so I could
focus on his build and how he looks
like. This would help me with
character design as I can see what
details I can add to different
characters and help me with different
anatomies. I decided to get creative
with this drawing and gave him no
hand, this was just a small thing just to
change it the picture up. I focused on
his face emotions too in which I
decided to make him look tired and
annoyed. This is different because the
main character I have in my head is a
very happy person, so I made the
opposite with this drawing to play
around with different emotions.
