illudes a sense of secrecy and privacy and manipulates
the audience's identification of the character. In
addition, this shows Wednesdays disassociation from
the rest of society.
• The low angled close-up of her feet showing
her heels within the school setting establishes how
her clothing is considered alternative to the rest of her
school and how she uses her clothing to empower
herself.
• The birds eye view over Wednesday whilst her peers
walk past establishes the school setting and illustrates
the insignificance of her other peers compared to her.
3. Editing
• The title of the show uses a serif font which adds a
sense of integrity to Wednesday along with a sense of
history which is ironic as its based upon an old
classical nursery rhyme.
• The slow-motion editing takes regular "boring" footage
and makes it more exciting and dramatic.
• The use of saturated and bright tones of the school
compared to Wednesday's dull and dark character
hyperbolizes her 'scary' character that should
be feared.

• The ambient sound focusing of her black shoes is
symbolic because it shows her significance compared
to the other characters In the show.
• The diegetic horror music whilst wednesday walks
through the corridors dramatizes her characters 'scary'
nature and presents her to be far more intimidating and
threatening for the students around her.
• The flash back of the children laughing loudly at the
lone boy is significant because it creates a sense of
vulnerability and inferiority.

• Wednesdays black colored outfit dramatizes her
character because it contrasts the surrounding children
around her with bright and popular clothing.
• The pointy sharp white collar over her dress adds
authority and sophistication to her character and
empowers her throughout the opening scene.
• Wednesday's black hair in contrast to her pale skin
adds a more inhumane and supernatural feel to her
character which reinforces the horror stereotype within
society.

her locker reinforce the stereotype of her grungy and
