Landing page
We followed the convention of having a landing page as soon as
you enter our website. The function of this is to advertise new
products from the artist.
We took inspiration from
The Weeknd’s website for
this aspect of our own site.
It is used to promote his
newest single.
Our landing page promotes the
release of our album with a count
down. It also encourages the
audience to purchase the album.
Header & Tabs
Artist name/logo at
the top of the page
Tabs for various
pages of the site.
Again, at the top.
Social Media
Social media is a huge part of the promotion of artists today, especially in our
genre; with artist using Twitter for promotion, and posting pictures from their
own personal Instagram accounts.

Jhene Aiko has all her social
media found at the top of each
page.
On our website, we have similar
social media link, as well as a
sign up bar for our mailing list.
These are both found at the
bottom of the page. We also
have a button to follow Roza on
twitter at the top of each page.
Purchasing
Another convention of an artist website is to allow purchasing of music,
merchandise and concert tickets. We conformed to this by having purchasing
opportunities throughout the website, as well as a designated shop page.

Interactivity
With the recent development of web 2.0, audiences are now, not only viewing the
information found on websites, but are sharing, adding to and interacting with it. We
conformed to this with multiple opportunities for audience interaction throughout the
website.
On our landing page
there is immediate
audience interaction
with the audience given
the choice to either
enter the website, or
even go to the shop
immediately to pre
order the album.
On the homepage we have a
number of chances for interaction,
shown below: A chance to meet
Roza, a live Twitter feed, a chance to
subscribe to the mailing list and a
QR code to access the mobile site.
Interactivity
One element of our website that does not conform to the conventions of websites of
our genre is the competition. This does, however, follow the conventions of websites
on a wider scale.
As shown to the left we had a
competition where fans must buy the
album to be entered.
We decided to break this convention of
not having a competition as we felt that,
being a new artist, we needed as much
publicity for Roza as we possibly could, in
order to get her name known. Therefore
having a competition would be more
beneficial than following the genre
conventions.
Personal
The PBR&B genre is very personal, which is
shown through the themes present in the
music. For this reason, it is not enough to see
the artist as just someone who creates music.
Fans want an insight into the lives of their
favourite artists so it is conventional for
websites to have ‘behind the scenes’ images or
videos which allow fans to follow their lives. We
followed this convention.

We decided to break this convention of not having a competition as we felt that, being a new artist, we needed as much publicity for Roza as we possibly could, in order to get her name known. Therefore having a competition would be more beneficial than following the genre conventions.
  • 8. Personal The PBR&B genre is very personal, which is shown through the themes present in the music. For this reason, it is not enough to see the artist as just someone who creates music. Fans want an insight into the lives of their favourite artists so it is conventional for websites to have ‘behind the scenes’ images or videos which allow fans to follow their lives. We followed this convention. We followed this convention with our behind the scenes photos from the ‘Teen Spirit’ video shoot.
