2. Introduction
 Prominent Texas-based businessman Jerry Durant has owned
Jerry Durant Auto Group in Weatherford, Texas, for more than
four decades. In addition to his professional activities, Jerry
Durant works to give back to his community through his support
of several local organizations, including the Weatherford
Independent School District Education Foundation.
In pursuit of its mission to enhance the learning experiences of
local students, the Weatherford ISD Education Foundation
promotes and supports a variety of educational programs and
resources. Each year, the organization’s board provides financial
grants to district educators who are implementing innovative
programs in their classrooms.

3. Teacher Grants
 During the recent 2015 grant cycle, the Foundation
awarded grants totaling some $60,500 to 15 local
teachers. The money will support educational
programs in a variety of areas, including music,
science, technology, writing, and health.
Since the grant program was launched, the Foundation
has awarded over $913,000 to deserving teachers. More
