Our Project Around the World with 80,000 friends
The Video Clip: ‘ We Like the World ! ’
The First Trip Around the World Co-designed and Powered by a Social Graph From Jules Verne and 80 days… Industrial Revolution Bringing Places closer to one another … to Facebook and 80,000 friends Social Networks Revolution Bringing people closer to one another
Why are we going around the world? Change our own lives We want to make a family project together, which gives a new meaning to our lives. Meet new people, help others. Share with our only daughter essentail values like solidarity, generosity, courage, optimism, and openess to others. Help kids, specifically little girls who are less lucky than Héloïse is. Embrace the “ Girls Education ” cause and help reducing the educational gap beetween girls and boys in developing countries by funding the building of a primary school in Burkina Faso, with a specific program for girls.
Why this Specific Project? Estelle: «  As a Distilbene victim, I ’ ve been struggling to have a child and I enjoy my luck every day. With my personal history I am particularly touched by causes regarding children. I am convinced that sending kids to school and specially girls, means giving them a life future, means saving women they will become tomorrow. Acting in that way will make the world advance, go further. Being able to act for this cause brings me a lot of happiness » Fred: « I have realized that friends ’ networks are a real gold mine of potential contacts and encounters that can help us achieve our dreams. Social Networks like Facebook have a « connection-boosting » power that brings this gold at your fingertips provided that you have an inspiring project and a great reputation. This is what we want to achieve with this project »
Why Embrace the Girls Education Cause? It builds the economy 1% increase in girls education generates 0.3% economic growth Every additional year of education increases income by 20%. It saves lives Children of women who received 5 years of primary education have 40% less chances to die before the age of 5. Because… “ Educating girls yields a higher rate of return than any other investment available in the developing world. ” Lawrence Summers, former Chief Economist at the World Bank, president of Harvard, and Obama ’ s top economic advisor It benefits to the Society as a whole They better educate their own children later, girls and boys.
