Walter Elias Disney was a famous American film producer who was born in 1901 and died in 1966. He received 7 Emmy awards and 22 Academy Awards over the course of his career. Disney created Mickey Mouse in 1928 to compete with the success of Felix the Cat. Some of Disney's most famous early works included the Silly Symphonies series and the animated film Flowers and Trees, which was the first Disney film to win an Oscar. During World War II, Disney focused on propaganda films but later created popular animated films like Cinderella, Bambi, Pinocchio, and Fantasia.
