large hole at the top.

produces very hot, melted rock.

forms in the crater.

or vent, in the crust at the
boundaries between plates.

under the other. Water vapour, particles, gases
ang magma pur out onto surface.
• Volcanoes form new land. Gases and particles
from a volcano can affect the weather.
• The mantle is the layer of Earth under the crust.
Some areas are very hot and volcanoes can form
at these hot spots.
