Assignment ESSAY
EVENT: ESSAY TEAMWORK
How would you define an Event? An event is a professional

Humanities, or a play on campus at Richland or a play off
campus at a professional theatre, a Dance Performance at a

Event Examples: High quality art museums, Theatrical events
such as professional plays and some on college campuses (ask
me in an email if it will work) Dance Recitals and concerts,
Musical Concerts such as Richland College noon recitals on

College brings artists to campus ask me about these events.
Fill out the Introductionabout the Event by answering questions
and the Second Part which is the Body, about the event and its
impact upon you, the individuals who you spoke with who
attended the event and then wrap it up in your conclusion
The draft questions do not need to be turned in to the instructor.
Turn in the ESSAY. You will notice that it is organized with an
Introduction, Body and Conclusion. Include your bibliography
at the end. You will want to take notes when you are discussing
the event. Include the individuals’ reactions to the event in your
body of your ESSAY. Write about how you felt, what you
learned, and how you may have disagreed or agreed with those
you interviewed. For information on the format see the MLA
INFORMATION at the end: scroll down. Your paper will be on
3. separate paper. The questions are supplied for you to develop
an outline and rough draft. Your ESSAY should end up being at
least 2 pages. Your ESSAY may be 3 pages if you include
photos
Another example could be what a person whom you spoke with
said about the use of symbolism used by the artist and how you
viewed it from a different vantage point. (Then you would
explain why that is the situation.)
DIRECTIONS:
After you write your paper explaining the event which will give
information concerning the background and historical data, you
will include the information about where the event was, who
was in the event, what you noticed, when the event was, why
the event was held, who sponsored the event etc. Then for the
Second Part, you will write about the discussion which you had
with at least one other individual who was also at the event and
you will write down what that person said and what you said
and how you shared your ideas. You will write about how you
saw the situation similarly or differently and how the
experience helped you understand the purpose of artistic events.
You will write about why there are artistic events in the
community and the purpose of a community supporting art
events. You will talk about how you agreed or disagreed in the
value and purpose of art in the community and why we have art
in our community.
BELOW are some suggestions to help you when talking to the
individuals attending the event with you and discussing the
event:
Did you notice anything that was a challenge for you to
understand?
Was there anything that was difficult to comprehend that
bothered you while attending this event?
4. What was challenging for you?
Have you attended an event like this before in this
neighborhood? Why or Why not?
Did you find that discussing the event was helpful to
understanding the event better?
Did you feel like you would like to learn more about this type
of event and study more in depth why they do these types of
events?
Did the event help you in any way understand another
point of view?
What did you learn?
Did doing some research about the event and reading up
about the background help you? In what way?
When responding and talking to another student --
Did you find that you were in agreement or were not in
agreement with the other person? Explain in detail your
response.

receive the best grade possible.
How your will be Graded:
Write your paper on separate sheets using answers as your
GUIDE for your paper. You may write what you think and feel.
You will be graded according to:
Attending as event
Building a team by discussing the event with others
Writing an ESSAY after attending the event and discussing the
event with at least 2 other individuals.
The written ESSAY will be on separate paper. These questions
and blanks are supplied to you as a rough draft for you to help
you include everything necessary in your ESSAY. Be sure to
keep notes when you ask your team members about how they
felt and responded to the art work or performance.
Your paper should be 2 to 3 pages in length - Your photo or
scanned ticket may be part of the 2 or 3 pages. Paper is
separated into Introduction, Body, and Conclusion and your
comments with your individual.
17. Be detailed and Answer all questions and answer them.
Incorporate all answers about values, beliefs and Culture into
your paper. Be sure to use terms correctly and utilize correct
spelling and definitions. Length of paper must be 2 or 3 pages.
You may include a photograph. Print should not be larger than
12 font. Double space is o.k. but if you use photos it should be
4 pages in order to answer everything if you include some
historical data. Better grade if you include some research and
some historical data. Use of some definitions from a good
professional scholarly source. --- Use of bibliography and
quote marks if needed: Good quotations help. You do not need
to use quote marks when just saying responses of how friends
felt Use quotation marks if from magazines and web sites.
Neatness counts: follow the MLA form if you quote outside
work other than the individual you interviewed about the event.
